Hyperlinking results of a crystal report to a parameter in another rpt.

We have a requirement  to hyperlink the result values of a field in a crystal report to a parameter in another report that returns the details of that value. Example below:
Rpt 1. Field:                                   Country
Values:(as hyperlinks)                     USA
                                                     Germany
                                                     France
So when a user clicks on the hyperlink "USA", report number two containing details for USA opens up like the example below:
USA,                  Population,          etc...etc....
North America     350M
The user should not be prompted to enter any parameters in the second report as it is expected to be parsed this from clicking on the value in the first report. The values in the first report are in a group section "country".  We are using Crystal 2008 on a BW query.
Thanks for your help.

Hi,
Create a sub report which contains country wise informaiton and insert this report in your group footer.  Now right click on your sub report and go in change sub report links and link your sub reportcountry parameter with your main report country  parameter.
Now it will pass your opendoc parameter value to your sub report parameter and will display results without entring once again coutnry parameter for your sub report.
Thanks,
Sastry.

  • Hyperlink error : on Exporting crystal report to Editable RTF format

Hi , In my crystal report I have hyperlink which works normally. Now when I export this report to Editable RTF format; the hyperlink gives error "Error! Hyperlink reference not valid. "
    It works for other formats.
    Please help

This issue was patched for Crystal Reports XI R1
    Hot Fix Name: commonXIwin_chf.zip
    Adapt Number-ADAPT00408450
    Description:
When exporting a report with email hyperlink to editable RTF format,
    the links do not work.
    New Behavior:
    This is now resolved.
Here is a link to the hotfix:
    ftp://ftp1.businessobjects.com/outgoing/CHF/commonXIwin_chf.zip
If you are using XI R2 and are still encountering this, then please check that you have installed the latest service pack (SP3) - and if the issue still occurs, then this may need to be tracked as a bug again.  However my understanding is that this was fixed for R2

  • Key instead of Text in Results Object in Crystal Reports For Enterprise

    Hi All
I recently developed a report in Crystal Reports for Enterprise and at some point afterwards the text description of the hierarchy used in the report was changed.  The Key remained the same, however this caused the report to crash.  The solution was to click Edit Query Option in the Results Objects and simply come out without changing anything.  This refreshed the results object pane and the report ran as normal.   I work in an environment where the text of hierarchies is liable to change frequently and without notice and it will be unfeasible for me to constantly refresh the results object every time a change to a hierarchy is made.  Therefore is there a way to define in CRE to use the Hierarchy key instead of the text as this is less likely to altered?
    Many Thanks in advance
    Neil

Excuse me I have my terminologies mixed up, what I mean is the name of the characteristic used in the report.  An example would be a characteristic called with the text of "Material" and a key of "0MATERIAL", if I were to change the text description to "MAT" and the key where to remain the same.  This would cause crystal report to error because it expecting the Characteristic name to be "Material".  Is there a setting or something in CRE to have it default to the key only so if the text of a characteristic or even a key figure for that matter where changed there would be no impact to the Crystal report.
I hope this makes more sense this time round
    Thanks

  • Hyperlink on data field crystal report vs 2005

    Please help!!!!
I can not set the hyperlink on a data field in *.rpt.
I also set the hyperlink type was A website on internet and filled the website address. But when report display i can not see any link.
    Thanks in advanges,

    Hello,
    (from CR Help file)
You can select a report object on the Design or Preview tab and create a hyperlink to another location.
The hyperlink is saved with your report and is available to other users as a way of viewing additional information.
Note:    Crystal Reports also lets you create hyperlinks with Relative URLs, so your web reports retain independence from their location on any particular server.
    To create a hyperlink field
Select a report object on the Design or Preview tab.
On the Format menu, click Hyperlink.
The Format Editor dialog box appears with the Hyperlink tab active.
Click the type of hyperlink you want to create.
The available types in the upper area are:
    No Hyperlink
This is the default option. There is no hyperlink associated with the selected report object.
    A Website on the Internet
Select this option if you want your report object to be linked to a static web address. Use the formula button to create a URL based on a field value. For example, you might enter the following formula if your Customer Name field contained information that would create a series of meaningful URLs:
    "http://www." + {Customer.Customer Name} + ".com"
Note:    You can also use this option to connect to Business Objects, Web Intelligence, and OLAP Intelligence documents (this is also known as report linking). Use the openDocument function to create these hyperlinks in Crystal Reports.
    Current Website Field Value
Select this option if you want the program to create a hyperlink out of the field you selected. The field must be stored as a proper hyperlink in your data source.
    An E-mail Address
Select this option if you want to create a "mailto" address from the field you selected. Use the formula button to create an address based on a field value.
    A File
Select this option to create a hyperlink to a file on a specific computer or networked computer. Use the formula button to create a file path based on a field value.
You can also use a hyperlink of this type to run an EXE with a command-line parameter. Enter the path and application name, and follow it by the parameter for the command.
    Current E-mail Field Value
Select this option if you want the program to create an email hyperlink out of the field you selected. The field must be stored as a proper email address in your data source.
The available types in the DHTML Viewer Only area are:
    Report Part Drilldown
For information about how to use this option, see The Report Part Drilldown option.
    Another Report Object
For information about how to use this option, see The Another Report Object option.
Note:    Not all hyperlink types are available at all times. The object you select and its location on the report determine which types are available.
After you have chosen a hyperlink type, enter the appropriate hyperlink information (the URL of a web site, for example).
Click OK when you are finished.
The hyperlink is inserted as appropriate. Click it on the report to go to the web site, to send an e-mail, and so on.

  • Compatability of Crystal Reports 2008 with BOE 11.5 - (.rpt output)

    Hi -
I am planning an upgrade to Crystal Reports 2008 to take advantage of capabilities of Crystal Reports Viewer 2008 to modify parameters in reports (ex: posting reports to a shared drive for users to open and modify parameters).
In order to have this functionality in Crystal Reports Viewer (2008), I must create the report in Crystal Reports 2008. My question is: If I create the report in Crystal Reports 2008 and schedule the report to run on Business Objects XI.5, will the users be able to modify parameters in the report file output?
    Thanks

    Hello,
You need BOE XI 3.0 or later for full compatibility with Crystal Reports 2008. The parameters panel will not be displayed in any earlier version.
Also, some Crystal 2008 syntax is not supported in versions of BOE earlier than BOE XI 3.0. Use of such functions will result in report failures when run in older versions of BOE. For example the function hasvalue() is new to Crystal 2008 (checks for empty values in fields) and caused report failure in BOE XI R2 when published.

You said that you are using version XI R2 SP2 (for BO Enterprise)  - do you have any FixPacks on this codeline? (FP2.x)
Question: If YES to above, have you made use of the equivalent FixPack for Integration Kit?  (known as "Partners Fix Pack 2.x ")
There are a few fixes in this area, I was thinking like:
ADAPT00716808 -  When scheduling a report from SAP Business Information Warehouse (BW) that contains parameters from a hierarchy or a hierarchy node variable, the default values fail to be displayed from InfoView. >>
ADAPT00894127 -  When users enter date parameters in the Calendar dialog box in SAP InfoView, the dates entered fail to appear in the corresponding field.
    Good luck,
    Henry

  • Crystal Report not taking parameter propery

    Hi,
I am facing a unique issue in reports. The report is not taking the parameter entered by the user instead it is taking the value which was used for testing the report initially.
Save data with report in uncheked.
The report is shwing correct data on CMS and with designer also.
The problem arises when report is viewed java based web application.
I am usng Crystal Reports XI and Business Objects 12 CMS.
    Regards,
    Misra P.

    Hi,
what does single time mean? Only the first time when you start the report from your code and the second time it is like before? You may need to empty the report's parameters before giving new ones... If I could see the relevant part of your code, I could give a hint. There are also lots of samples hwo to paramterize a report from java code, which usually work fine...
There is also an option in the crystal reports designer to keep parameter values as they were set in the CMC when saving a report to BOE...

  • Using Crystal Reports as the default for opening .rpt files

    Hi all,
I know this is a simple question with a simple answer, but I'm baffled, so here goes. I'm using Crystal Reports 2008 and I have the Crystal Report Viewer installed on my computer. I want to open .rpt files with Crystal Reports 2008 as the default application, not Crystal Report Viewer.
When I right-click the .rpt file I have three options, Crystal Report Viewer 2008, Microsoft Visual Studio Version Selector, and Choose Program. When I select Choose Program, then click the Browse button, Crystal Reports is not available as one of the programs to choose.
When I look at the programs available via the Control Panel, I see Crystal Reports 2008, but I'm not able to select it as the default for opening .rpt files. I'm assuming the program file is in my Program Files folder somewhere in the Business Objects folder, but I'm not sure which file I need to set Crystal as the default program. Can someone please point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance.

  • Hyperlink using formula in Crystal Reports 8.5

Is there a way to create hyperlink formula to link to nth page in the report (in the exported pdf file)
    for example:
i want to created a link to a text and when clicked on the link it should take me to page 8 in the same report.
    Thanks

    Hi Navin
Thank you so much for your response.
Is it particular to any one single report or all the reports which contain hyperlink.
basically it's just one report that should have filer names and pages numbers in the first page followed by the detailed report of all filers
Also let us know to what type you are linking to, Is it any email address else a website or a file type.
The table of contents is loaded from a sub report which is connected to a temporarty table with filer names and page numbers.
    it's a database field

  • Oracle - crystal report problem

    Hi,
I have a package with few functions in it that returns certain values like name, address, state and zip
But while I am passing these valus to get the result on the crystal report viewer on a web browser, I am not getting any special characters like dashes, commas, parenthesis...ends up in error..
    For example
lets say u have a function named 'address' returning something like "123 my address, NY 10001" (COMMA is the problem here)
I am trying to pass these values to the Crystal Report on the web thru input tag and found that I can only get up tp "123 my address".... the rest is being ignored.
    HTP.p ('<input type="hidden" name=promptex-p_address@subreport value=" ' || address || ' ">' );
But when I removed the comma, its passing everything
Please help....and sorry if I am in the wrong section of the forum
    San

Thanks jim. I tried my best I can. Well I disabled the crystal report plugin for the web browser and tried to see the output and the entire returned value from the function is showing up...
But somehow when it processed inside crystal, its(comma) getting ignore with the rest of the line no matter what u do with the input
I am started to thinking like this is kind of a bug. But its my 2 cent thinking, if u guys have any suggestions please post it....
I know this is not a place for typical crystal report discussion area, but I posted it because oracle products are also involved in this matter

    Hi Edwin,
I assume you are using the runtime for Cr for Visual Studio which is available from the download page correct?
You don't want to use the .Add method, this actually adds a NEW parameter, you simply want to modify the current parameter value.
    Sorry I don't have and C++ samples.

  • Stored Procedure in Crystal Report

    Dear Experts,
I have created one Stored Procedure where Baseentry of invoice is the parameter. Now want to design a crystal report based on that. How to proceed? Please guide stpwise. I am using ODBC connection. And in Crystal report also the parameter should be the baseentry. How to integrate?
    Regards,
    Akash A.

    Hi Akash,
Using a Stored Procedure in Crystal
And with that little introduction, we finally get to the point of this articleu2014using stored procedures to simplify data queries for Crystal. Although we canu2019t make the above query into a database view, we can incorporate it into a stored procedure that returns a result set and then feed that stored procedure into Crystal no differently than we would feed a query based on views or tables.
Since stored procedures are so different between Oracle and SQLServer, weu2019ll first show you how to use a stored procedure in Crystal, given that it is already created. Then, weu2019ll separately show you how to create the procedure in SQLServer and Oracle.
When creating a Crystal Report, make it like any other report, except for the following.
    1. When specifying a data source, instead of selecting Tables or Views, select Procedures, and then select the newly created procedure.
    2. Crystal will immediately prompt you to enter values for the procedureu2019s input parameters. Do NOT do so; rather, check u201CSet as Nullu201D and click OK so Crystal will know to prompt for these as input parameters each time the report is run.
    3. If you are using SQLServer, click on the Field Explorer and rename the fields to remove the u201C@u201D prefix that Crystal automatically adds to conform to SQLServer parameter/variable naming conventions. (This is not necessary if you are using Oracle.)
Then finish the report as you normally would. In our example, since all of the hard work was done in the query embedded inside of the stored procedure, the work in Crystal is trivial.

  • Missing records: Crystal Reports MDX driver bug?

    Dear,
A Crystal Report based on a SAP BW MDX Query is not showing exactly the same results as when launching the Bex Query alone. No filters have been applied however in the crystal report.
The strange thing is that as long as I do not add a specific field in my Crystal report (0PROJECT), the numbers (totals etc.) are correct (=the same as when launching the Bex Query alone in Bex Analyzer). However, when adding the field 0PROJECT in the 'details' section of the Crystal Report, the totals, sums etc.. change and the numbers are no longer correct (some records are not taken into account, the total is lower)
This strange behaviour is only present when using the MDX driver. When the normal SAP BW query driver is used, all is fine (but the MDX functionalities are missing)
    Crystal Reports version = 12.3.1.684
SAP integration Kit has been installed
SAP Bex Query Designer= Support Package 12, Revision 642
Somebody knows how to explain/resolve this?
    kr,
    Toon Francx

    hi guys,
    lets be clear here:
Ingo: Indeed, when launching the MDX query via MDXTEST, i get the same results as in Crystal Reports (so with the omitted records)
When launching the bex query separately everything works perfectly though
    >> so you are basically saying that MDXTEST is showing you exactly the result as crystal Reports. If yes - then the problem is NOT in Crystal Reports.
