Hyperlinking with Navto://

I am having very sporadic behavior when using navto hyperlinking. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Is there a bug?

Mark -
Not sure if this is your problem - but I have come across a similar huge annoyance in that cutting and pasting hyperlinked objects from one document to another - say with a navto:// or an HTMLResource/ reference - maintains a reference to the source file.
A very simple example -
You have a two page folio - it contains an index page and a content page in both horizontal and vertical orientations.
You create an object on the content_v.indd page with a hyperlink back to the index page - navto://index
You then copy and past that object from content_v.indd to content_h.indd
The hyperlink will not work on content_h.indd
If you look closely at the URL of the pasted object in content_h.indd - the URL is - content_vnavto://index
you would expect it to remain - navto://index
but for some reason it prepends the name of the source file to the URL.
There may be a reason for this - but i can't seem to find it - and it creates double the effort - which is a huge deal in creating multi page documents.

  • Hyperlink with an action 'Go to a page in another document' in IE browser.

    When the PDF Document is opened in IE, Clicking on a Hyperlink with an action 'Go to a page in another document' is not navigating to the proper destination page.
    This happens when the destination document is already opened in IE once and cached.

    Hi Vinayaka,
    I am unable to replicate this at my end. I am using Acrobat 11.0.10 on Windows 7 and IE11
    Below are the steps I followed :
    Create a link and select the "Custom link" option, click "Next",  select the "Options" tab, select "Go to page view", click the "Add: button, open the file to the page you want to link to, click the "Set link" button.

  • Hyperlinks with "#" don't work in PDF from PowerPoint

    I'm creating a PDF from a PowerPoint 2010 file and hyperlinks with a "#" in them aren't working. The "#" character is being removed from the link. For example a link to http://mysite.com/home.htm#anchor becomes http://mysite.com/home/htmanchor. I have Creative Cloud and installed Acrobat Pro XI today. I used the Create PDF button on the Acrobat ribbon.
    Does anyone have a solution?

    Ahhh, the slippery slope of perception.
    Yes, "#" has a specific use when with HTML .
    And "#" has a specific use when with MS Office applications.
    And "#" has a specific use with PDF using Acrobat / Adobe Reader.
    The specifics of each?
    For HTML see what W3C and the related RFCs speak to.
    For MS Office see what Microsoft's dev space  & Office info speaks to.
    For Acrobat / Reader see "Parameters for Opening PDF Files".
    http://wwwimages.adobe.com/content/dam/Adobe/en/devnet/acrobat/pdfs/pdf_open_parameters_v9 .pdf
    In each environment "#" means something different, does something different.
    In each environment, when used correctly, "#" performs as designed.
    The point is the "design" is In Fact different in the different environments.
    So the "SOF" -- Nothing is broken.
    Be well...

  • Hyperlink with tracking applied does not work in PDF

    We use lots of web addresses in our advertising and generally the web addresses automatically convert to hyperlinks when we distill the files and make PDFs. Recently we've had two instances where someone applied tracking or justification to the line of text containing the url to make it spread across the page. When we make our PDF the url is not clickable. Is there anyway around this? We tried actually creating a hyperlink manually in InDesign by using the Hyperlinks panel and entering the address, but that didn't work either.

    Peter,
    We'll look into that. We already do two separate PDFs for print and web, but
    we are distilling both right now. Wouldn't be too much of a problem to
    change to exporting the web version I don't think.
    I did a test, just curious, is there a way to keep it from putting a black
    box around the link on the PDF?
    Thanks for your help! We appreciate it!

    Subject: Hyperlink with tracking applied does not work in PDF
    Distilled PDF uses Postscript which does not support hyperlinks and
    interactivity. To make your hyperlinks in ID you'll need to export and check
    the Include Hyperlinks and Include Interactiviity boxes.
    Your printer doesn't need hyperlinks because they don't work on a printed
    page. The requirements for print and interactive PDF are quite different, and
    you may find you need to make two versions.

  • Word Import  - Hyperlinks with #

    All:
    I just downloaded and installed the trial version of RH 9.0. I'm trying to import a word document into RH HTML project. The word document has lot of hyperlinks and 90% of the hyperlinks contains # in it. (For eg: https://www.something.com/index.html#wpasder). The hyperlinks with # are not getting properly imported into RH. All other hyperlinks without a # are getting imported properly. When I checked the HTML code the href is set to "" <blank>.
    Anyone had any issues like this before? If any solutions or work arounds available, please let me know.
    PS: I'm relatively new to RH tool...
    -Thanks in advance, arun

    I am encountering the same issue in RH10. Hyperlinks that include a # for page bookmark do not import from Word to RH.

  • Hyperlink with the following characters: ù, ò, è, à and ì

    Hello All,
    I have problems with PDF files and Adobe Reader 11.0.2: the hyperlink with the following characters: ù, ò, è, à and ì, are not working.
    This problem looks like the "CR" in file name with versione X (http://forums.adobe.com/message/3791868), that's a strange mistery... :-(
    Using older versions of Adobe Reader the links work correctly.
    Thanks in advance for the support,
    Andrea

    These characters are not permitted in a URL. This rule is not made by Adobe, but by the people who invented URLs. They might work as you wish but the behaviour is undefined (that is to say, there is no correct behaviour, and giving an error or rejection is one possibility). I suspect that recent versions of Adobe Reader forbid the forbidden characters for security reasons.

  • Leopard =10.5.1 Hyperlinks with '~' don't work

    On several computers with both 10.5 and 10.5.1 a hyperlink in a message such as:
    http://www.apple.com/~example
    is only marked up (underlined) and clickable until the ~ character. So if you click the link it goes to http://www.apple.com. Any link without that character no matter how long works. Please help.

    It is evident from all of your replies to my topic that the problem can be replicated and there really is no solution that I can do. I cannot control if someone is sending me plain text or not. Actually I sent myself a message, made sure that it was not composed as plain text and the problem still happened. So I can't speak for those that say that it made a difference, in my case it didn't.
    Does Apple monitor these forums? Is there a better way to communicate to them that this needs to be fixed? I am shocked that this very obvious problem had not been fixed by the latest patch. So many links, especially to blog sites use ~ characters. Maybe it is a UNIX home thing?
    Thanks to everyone for their feedback.

  • When I right-click, the same context menu opens up (the menu for hyperlinks, with "Open Link in New Tab" and the like) regardless of what/where I right-click.

    Regardless of where I right-click on a displayed webpage (NOT the menu bar at the top of the screen), be it highlighted text, a blank spot in a webpage, or anything, the context menu for a hyperlink pops up (with the options for opening it in a new tab, window or private window, bookmarking), and none of the options actually do anything even if it is a hyperlink I'm clicking on. Using keyboard shortcuts like Ctrl + clicking work fine. I haven't installed any plugins recently, and it only started a few hours ago. Wat do?

    Try disabling Firebug and see how it is.

  • My bank shows no PRINT , or other hyperlinks - with IE8 all is OK.

    I do all my banking by internet. I have one account in Suncorp Metway Bank, www.suncorp.com.au . Since late December, I have been unable to print any page, such as my Transactions page, because there is no Print hyperlink on the page. There is no toolbar at all at the top of the page. I have had email correspondence with them for two months, and get replies that assume I am a moron. I have been using computers for over 30 years.
    Today, frantic with all the useless replies, I used IE8, and went through to the bank, where I was able to see a toolbar at the top of the page, with several hyperlinks, including PRINT.
    It looks as though this is something to do with Firefox. Any suggestions?

  • How do I make a hyperlink with dynamic data from a php data base table?

    Level - Dreamweaver infrequent user
    I have a standard master-detail couple of pages using MySQL and PHP. This function is working correctly. One of the data items on the Details page contains the name of a PDF document (including the .pdf suffix). The PDFs are stored in the PDFs library under the Site Root. I am wanting the ability of the page user to look at the associated PDF. Keeping it as simple as possible I just set up a text field 'View Report' followed by the Dynamic Text for the document name. I tried defining the Link Properties with the PDFs library name (plus the root level) followed by the code I thought it needed to identify the selected PDF document ( <? php echo $row_rslivesDetail['ReportLink']; ?> ). The first part is correct because when the code failed I changed it to a fixed PDF document and that worked. I've tried various combinations but not been successful. Can someone please suggest what I'm doing wrong with the code.
    Regards
    Cliff

    Do the PDFs actually reside in your MySql database or are they just in a folder on your server?
    To parse files from a folder, you could use something like this:
    <h2>PDF Files</h2>
    <?php
    class SortingIterator implements IteratorAggregate
    private $iterator = null;
    public function __construct(Traversable $iterator, $callback)
    if (!is_callable($callback)) {
    throw new InvalidArgumentException('Given callback is not callable!');
    $array = iterator_to_array($iterator);
    usort($array, $callback);
    $this->iterator = new ArrayIterator($array);
    public function getIterator()
    return $this->iterator;
    ?>
    <!--results-->
    <h3>2014</h3>
    <?php
    function mysort($a, $b)
    return $a->getPathname() > $b->getPathname();
    $item = new SortingIterator(new RecursiveIteratorIterator(new RecursiveDirectoryIterator('pdfs/2014/')), 'mysort');
    foreach ($item as $file) {
    echo '<li><a href="' . $file . '">' . $file->getFilename() . '</a> - '. round( $file->getSize() / 1052) . '  KB </li>';
    ?>
    </ul>
    In my example above, pdfs is my main folder and 2014 is my sub-folder.
    Results echo inside a list with each file name hyperlinked.  See screenshot.

  • Webi Hyperlink with OpenDoc causes WIH 00013

    Hi
    I am trying to create a hyperlink from one report to another, passing the number of the clicked on site.
    This is the hyperlink code that I have used:
    /OpenDocument/opendoc/openDocument.jsp?iDocID=18704&sType=WID&lsSSite=223
    Site is an input parameter of the target WEBI document. It has been configured to be optional, and the user must select values from a list.
    If the WEBI document is run through the portal, and the link clicked, I get the following error message:
    Invalid Session. Please close your browser and log on again. (WIH 00013)
    If I take out the lsSSite parameter, the link works perfectly, so it seems to be something I am doing wrong when trying to pass values to the target webi.
    The target prompt is defined as optional and prompt with list of values. The other 2 checkboxes for select only from list and remember past values are both unchecked. All I want is for the input prompt to be pre-populated with the values clicked on in the source report.
    Any ideas on what causes this, or how I need to configure the hyperlink?
    Cheers,
    Andrew

    Just try using this
    ="http://<Server>:8080/OpenDocument/opendoc/openDocument.jsp?sType=wid&sDocName=rev_line&lsSEnterYear:="[Year](If IsPromptAnswered("Enter City:") Then "&lsSEnterCity:="+URLEncode(UserResponse("Enter City:")))
    Here, 'Enter City' is the optional prompt, which will be included in the hyperlink only if it has a value provided by the user
    May be you can try this to increase the session time,
    Go to Registry
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Business Objects\Suite 12.0\CMS\Instances\cmsname.cms,
    Change IdleSessionTimeout=2700000
    Modify the value at
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\BusinessObjects\Suite 12.0\default\WebIntelligence\Server\Admin\SwapTimeOut to 2700000.(Only if WebIntelligence reports timeout)
    If you are using IIS then,
    Right-click default website --> properties
    Go to the Home Directory tab and click on Configuration
    Change the Session Timeout to 45 minutes
    Right click the BOBJAppPool121 Application Pool --> Properties
    Go to the performance tab and change the idle timeout to 45 --> Click OK
    Right click the DefaultAppPool Application Pool --> Properties
    Go to the performance tab and change the idle timeout to 45 --> Click OK
    and then Restart IIS/Tomcate.

    Hi,
    try with this formulas.
    1. If you want to pass a single value to a prompt in child report
    http://<servername>:<port>/OpenDocument/opendoc/<platformSpecific>sType=wid&sDocName=SalesReport&iDocID=2010&lsSSelectaCity=Paris

  • Hyperlinks with Numbers

    Having purchased a Macbook Pro on the advice of my son, I can only express my bitter disappointment with my experience to date. Help screens are helpless and only work online. It may come as a surprise that there are many occasions when you cannot get online and so help is not available.
    Virtually every programme I have used to date is at best awkward and not easy to use. Wether this is because it is more intuitive than I is possibly the cause, but i doubt this. The programmes are just not very well written.
    Take for example Numbers. I have spent over an hour trying to find out how to create a hyperlink from a cell to another spreadsheet - I frequently use this technique as it saves a huge amount of time looking up information. I have tried and failed. It would seem from the various chat rooms and forums that this simple script has not been added. Likewise the Formulas are so limited as to be almost worthless. Do Apple seriously expect users to write all their own scripts so that they can use Formulae?
    I am on the point of going back to Microsoft, which despite all the problems, you can invariably find a workaround, but this does not seem to be the case with Apple.
    Nice build quality, but a seriously disappointed new user.
    Regards.
    Nigel

    The warranty entitles you to complimentary phone support for the first 90 days of ownership.
    If you bought the product in the U.S. directly from Apple (not from a reseller), you have 14 days from the date of delivery in which to exchange or return it for a refund. In other countries, the return policy may be different. If you bought from a reseller, its return policy applies.
