Hyperlinks don't realize they're cropped

I've set up a publication in InDesign in printer spreads (pages 12/1 then 2/11, then 10/3, etc.) When I create a PDF, I crop off the left half of odd-number pages and right half of even-numbered pages, so it can be viewed one-page-at-a-time. Problem is, ALL pages contain hyperlinks with a red border, and that red border on all cropped-off hyperlinks STILL appear in the gray "void" to the side of the visible page (and they remain ACTIVE, too). Is there some way to crop this (or a way to save it from InDesign) so the hyperlinks that are in the cropped-off areas are invisible?

opened the files in textedit.app, they sure didn´t
look like plist files. To be sure, I downloaded an
XML editor, and that one couldn´t parse them either.
They probably were really plist files, though. The default with 10.4 is for them to be binary files, now. If you have the Xcode tools installed, there's a Property List Editor that's installed. If not, I think you still have a command-line utility that can convert them to text files, plutil:
<pre class="command">plutil -convert xml1 /path/to/plist/file</pre>Then it should be editable in a text To convert back to binary format:
<pre class="command">plutil -convert binary1 /path/to/plist/file</pre>FYI, the last character in xml1 and binary1 is the number "1", not an "l".

Hyperlinks Don't Work in Preview/Publish Mode - Correct in Design View

I am having trouble with hyperlinks. I've deleted existing hyperlinks, then copied and pasted addresses back in but it is still not working. Any idea why this is happening.

To the right of each album the links for amazon, itunes and cdbaby do not work. They DO work for the Bunky Moon album but I cannot discern any difference. In Muse design view, the hyperlink addresses are correct when I select the amazon, itunes or cdbaby element.
Also - when I copy a page URL from this site - it pastes the title tag. For example:
www.ronbrendle.com/reviews.html becomes "Brendle is a monster bassist." JazzTimes

Hyperlinks don't work in swf produced by CS5 InDesign

Created file with CS5 InDesign. Everything except hyperlinks works. Buttons work. Timing works. Layers work. Hyperlinks don't.
The file is still on my hard drive. Pointer changes to indicate when over link. Clicking produces no effect.

I also have this problem. It's an InDesign CS5 multi paged document that I have exported to Flash. The links are to other web pages.
I don't think the answer about security settings is the whole story as I've created a pdf from the same document and the links work from there. The links also work when I test them in the InDesign hyperlinks palette. They just do nothing when exported to SWF. In fact the relevant button is disabled also (rollover doesn't work).
If this can't happen it makes the whole InDesign to SWF thing a bit of a dud!
Anyone got anyclues?

I've created a new website and I would just like to know why my hyperlinks don't work? The facebook link used to, but ever since I posted the text under the menu icons in the middle of the site and then publish it won't activate any of them! This is really frustrating so I'm really hoping someone has an easy solution to this...

It looks to me as though you have made your navigation menu using images places without a shape?
If so, what he is saying is that this shape has got into your footer and is covering everything else and the whole page, which is why your links will not work. If your links are covered by anything, then they won't work.
In iWeb select show all so you can see where things are on your site. Shorten your footer area and I would suggest that you remove the shape and then place it in the body of your site. To get your links to work you need to ensure that you send the shape to the back.

Hyperlinks don't change color

Why don't my hyperlinks change color? They all work fine but I can"t seem to get them to do the color change when I roll over them. The hyperlinks remain black . I am using iWeb 06. Do I have to update to iWeb 08?

Tod ~ Yes, you would have to upgrade to iWeb 2 in iLife '08. Then in Inspector's Link tab, you'll have a Format tab via which you can specify the colors of your hyperlinks. This video tutorial shows that Format tab, although its use is not demonstrated:

Hyperlinks don't work in Preview

I created a PDF file from a PowerPoint presentation using Mac OS X. My PDF file has hyperlinks in it that work fine when viewed in Acrobat Reader. But I'm unable to get any of the hyperlinks to work when viewing the file with the built in program "Preview" that is part of the Mac OS X operating system.
There are plenty of PDF files on the Internet with hyperlinks that work in both Apple Preview and Acrobat Reader. But the PDF files I create using Mac OS X, don't seem to function properly in Preview.
Any suggestions?

Hyperlinks don't work in keynote 3

My hyperlinks don't work in Keynote 3, even not after re-installing the programme several times. Are there more people who have this priblem, it could be a bug.

Check that the presentation is set to normal in: Inspector > Document > Document > Presentation Type > Normal
The inspector is the side panel on the right hand side.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Hyperlinks don't work in fillable pdf forms

I have a question for you folks and am hoping you can help me. I am using Adobe Acrobat X Professional. I want to create "fillable" pdf forms which include hyperlinks. When I create a pdf form and "Save as" a "Reader extended PDF" and "Enable additional features" the hyperlinks don't work. I save the document this way in order to produce a fill-in pdf document. However, if I save the document as a regular pdf (i.e., not reader extended/non-fillable pdf form) then the hyperlinks work. Any ideas how I can get the hyperlinks to work in a fillable pdf form? Thanks!

I'm sorry...I wish I knew what "autorecognized links" were. : ( As I mentioned in my reply to David, I created the hyperlinks in Microsoft Word before I converted the Word document to a pdf.
I have resolved the problem and posted my step-by-step solution a few days ago, but for some reason I don't see it in this forum. It kind of goes like this...to get hyperlinks to work with fillable pdf's:
1. Create Microsoft Word document and save when done.
2. While in Word, click on "Acrobat" on menu bar (assuming you have installed Adobe Acrobat X Pro on your computer) and "Create pdf;" confirm that hyperlinks work and close document.
3. Open pdf document with Acrobat Pro and selected "Create pdf form."
4. Edit the "fillable" parts of the document (e.g., make all fields/text boxes 10 pt. font size...I wish there was a way of setting the default so you wouldn't have to manually do this for each field/box, but haven't figured out how to do that one yet).
5. Close form editing.
6. Select File --> Save as --> Reader extended pdf --> Enable additional features.
7. Save file
8. Close file and re-open to verify that hyperlinks and fields work/are fillable.
That's my solution. There's probably an easier way to do this, but it works.

Saved Pages document as PDF. Now hyperlinks don't work

After saving my newsletter in Pages 09 as a PDF (Print>Compress as PDF) some embedded hyperlinks don't work. Strangely enough, the links to an e-mail DO work, but links to a URL DO NOT. Why is this and what do I do to overcome this problem?

That's a fairly long thread I linked to. Did you get all the way down to this post with a screenshot? I see that others had the same problem you do & it took them a couple of tries to get it working. I would be nice to be able to see what you're doing (or not doing), but we have to make do with words & screenshots.

Hyperlink don't work with "download a document"

I use iWeb 2006. My web site <www.xicro.it> have a link with a document to download. This kind of hyperlink don't work on line, but it work when you check the site in local host.

Hi,
You can put the file which you want people to be able to download in a zip. Then put a link on your website to that zip file (normal link) and as soon as you click on the link the zip will download.
In your case that would be xoomer.alice.it/xicro/F537BB88-A61B-11DB-9BB2-000393D45032/xxxxxxxxx.zip

If something is too good to be true it probably is. As Jonathan says, you are most likely in possession of stolen merchandise (seriously if you had an expensive electronic to sell would YOU sell it on a street corner where it's an untracable cash transaction or would you sell it online or to a retail place for store credit?)

Word 2000 hyperlinks don't work in .pdf created with Acrobat 9 Pro

I'm new to Adobe Forums, so please overlook the effrontery of my posting a query previously discussed. Perhaps someone can simply reply with a link to the prior discussion. I have installed Acrobat 9.2 Pro in 2 computers, one running XP64 Pro, the other XP32 Pro. Word 2000 is installed in both. All Word hyperlinks work fine, but after .pdf conversion using Acrobat 9.2 Pro, none of these work. In 'Preferences', I have navigated Convert to PDF > Microsoft Office Office Word > Edit Settings > Add Links to Adobe PDF File and confirmed that the Add Links feature is enabled. Having ascertained that this glitch is not specific to either XP64 or XP32 operating systems, I uninstalled Acrobat 9.2 Pro from the XP32 computer and reinstalled Acrobat 6.1 Pro. Then using the same Word 2000 document, I converted to .pdf using Acrobat 6.1 Pro, with no problems whatsoever. This looks like a serious bug in Acrobat 9 Pro, which the telephone support folks have acknowledged. Alas, they won't give me the tiniest clue how to resolve it, nor any workaround, but merely refer me to AdobeForums.com for help. I suspect a corrective patch or 'upgrade' will be forthcoming, but meanwhile, if anyone knows of a workaround, please enlighten me. Thanks. /rmbrown

Word 2000 is one of Microsoft's masterpieces - by disabling 'autosave', the application is totally stable, does not require 'activation' by Microsoft. Acrobat 9 enables 'saving' of interactive .pdf forms, a most valuable feature and one much appreciated by anyone completiing such forms. There must be more to this issue than 'incompatibility', because I can create a test Word 2000 document, hyperlink a valid URL, convert to .pdf with Acrobat 9, and the hyperlink works fine in Acrobat 9. When I attempt to do this using a much more complex Word 2000 document, embedded with scores of hyperlinks, these links fail to work following conversion to .pdf with Acrobat 9, but work fine following conversion to .pdf with Acrobat 6. I can then use Acrobat 9 to open the .pdf created with Acrobat 6, and successfully edit any of these fully functional hyperlinks using the 'Link tool'. I don't know who prepared the 'Acrobat Technical Evangelist' article (AF1908DCd01) - no credits were cited, and I'm far from certain that this authentically belongs to Adobe's knowledge base. So I appreciate your sharing this information with me, but I cannot say that my question has been definitively answered. Hyperlinks don't work in frames where you have videos, and....

Did you notice that if you put a hyperlink in a frame where you already have a video, after you export in quicktime your presentation, the hyperlink won't work no more?
And did u notice that if you use an hyperlink to a frame that is not the follower one, this will blast off any transition?
And did you notice this happens in Keynote 08 AND Keynote 09?
AND AM I THE ONLY ONE THAT NOTICED THIS AND IS SICK TO PAY FOR A SOFTWARE THAT "just DON'T work" ??

How bout adding the URL after the vid? That works for me; remember a connection to a URL drops you out of Keynote & Sets up Safari, so you're completely out of the app & have to get back in through the dock. I'm uncertain what you mean about the transition blast; cold you give more detail?
In fairness, all apps fail to do something or other, and this does not mean they don't work. If you want to pay big bucks & fight with PP, fine, but I'll stick to the more versatile and easy-to-use KN.
