Hyperlinks for redirection in PDF's smart devices

Hi
I am using hperlinks in PDF's created in indesign, them work well on laptops and desktops to redirect to another page. But when i try to use these links on smart devices such as IOS and Android devices it tries to open another page to read it elsewhere or reopens the same PDF, rather than redirect as it the link commands.
All suggestions would be welcome, thank you in advance

Nope, not today. And even Adobe or someone else would add this functionality to its reader app, you could not force the client to use that very same program or version to read the PDFs.
E.g. on iOS there are a lot of PDF capable readers out besider Adobe Reader, like Apple iBooks, PDFfree, and any others. You will never know what app your client is using.

  • Help blocking smart devices from using VPN

    Hello,
I am looking for a solution to block smart devices from connecting to our network via VPN. Our current VPN solution is ASA5520 and we are using Cisco ACS for user authentication. We use Cisco VPN client only, no anyconnect or SSL VPN.
Managment is looking for a way we can stop smart devices from using VPN clients to connect and only allow laptops/desktops to connect.
Does anyone have a way we can do this via ACS or another method?

Ok I will try it again but according to this documentation the type must match what is displayed in the show vpn-sessiondb remote, when I do that command all I see is type ipsec....nothing about iOS or client version numbers.:
    version
version Identifies the device version via free-form strings, for example 7.0. A string
must match exactly its appearance in the show vpn-sessiondb remotedisplay, except that you can use the * character as a wildcard.

  • Can I use the NI DAQmxbase C functions to develop a Smart Device application using a NI USB or NI ENET 9234 C module with Visual Studio for an iMX31 (ARM 11) embedded computer running Win CE 5.0 or 6.0?

I have an embedded application running on a iMX31 (ARM 11) that does fairly high performance analog input (24 bit, 50K samples/second).  I use Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 C/C++ for the develoment environment and have currently built versions of the application for Win CE 5.0 and 6.0 without Labview or NI hardware.  I have used the NI 9234 with great success on several Labview applications in the past and I'd like to use the 9234 on this embedded application with VS2005 C/C++. The NI documentation hints that I should be able to do this (maybe I'm overly optimistic) and I'm wondering if anyone else has?   I've tried the Evaluation versions of Labview Mobile and Labview Touch panel to build a C application using the NI DAQmx base C function inside Visual Studio without success.  I can compile and link the ContAcq IntClk LV example project for an x86 platform using NIDAQmx but not for a ARM platform using NIDAQmxbase.lib.  I get the same linker error   error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol referred to in Knowledge Base Document ID 4HAEE7QQ  even though I've set up (or think I've set up ) VS2005 as the KB article indicates.
If anyone has used the C functions and NIDAQmxbase library inside a VS2005 Smart Device project, I'd greatly appreciate your comments.
    Thanks

    Hello Gene,
I have been checking into this for you and have found out that what you are trying to do cannot be done.  At least not in the current manner you are hoping for.  The internal architecture of DAQmx Base requires the cross-compiling capability of the LabVIEW Mobile Module. While a stand-alone compiler can compile DAQmx Base calls for desktop processors, it cannot compile DAQmx Base calls for ARM.
If your application requirements exclude the LabVIEW toolchain, then the remaining option is the USB Driver Development Kit which is avaliable here, but you will have to contact your local field sales representative to discuss support
options as standard phone and e-mail support are not available for the
    NI Measurement Hardware DDK.

  • I need to make my PDF document to contain Hyperlinks for future editing

I am making up some documents (initially in CS) which will have some details that will later need to be edited. Such as dates, etc. In those areas of the document; I believe I can add a hyperlink for that purpose. I only want these parts of the document to be editable so that the general design of the document cannot be changed.

Keep in mind that PDF (the technology / file format defined and discussed in the ISO Standard - ISO 32000) is not supportive of word processor like "editing".
Touchups of characters and character strings is tolerated. Acrobat provides robust support for touchup but when misused to try word processor like "editing" you can expect to goober the PDF into an unusable condition.
Output initial content to PDF. Have the PDF reviewed making use of the Comment and Drawing Markup tools that both Acrobat XI and Adobe Reader XI provide.
Refer to these reviewer annotations to update the authoring file.
Output a fresh PDF and perform another round of reviews.
    Repeat the process.
When the authoring file is "good" output a PDF for distribution / deployment.
    Be well...

  • ActionScript 3 frameworks for smart device apps

    Hi there,
I have had a look at two frameworks (FeathersUI and MadComponents) that are designed for mobile and smart device application development.  However, I don't have much experience in choosing the one that is more optimised for smart devices and don't know about what the pros and cons of each are.
I would greatly appreciate someone who's used them and knows a lot about the frameworks regardless of the one  they're in favor of.  I would like to know the differences in terms of performance, speed, limitations, what you can and can not do with each, how close each one is to native UI of iOS and Android. Last but not least, what do you rate each on a scale of 10?
    Thank you.

Two things to look at are:
The mobile capabilities of ADF Faces.

Which has components that will render automatically on mobile devices and HTML browsers adjusting themselfs.

  • A problem with hyperlinks in my Interactive PDF on smartphones...

I hope someone can help...  I exported both an interactive and for print PDF from inDesign.  When I view the PDFs on my pc the hyperlinks that I've made in the document work perfectly fine.  When I view the PDFs on my smartphone, the hyperlinks don't work.  I've gone through many forums to make sure all my settings were correct and have tried many different things to try to get them to work, but still no luck.  Has anyone come across this issue?  Is there any way to get these hyperlinks to work on a smartphone?

Interactive PDFs on mobile devices are nothing short of a crapshoot.
The readers are hit or miss and the better ones require payment.
I wish I had better news for you but right now, that’s the way it is.

  • Pdf on iOS devices damaged or white screen

    Hello
our iPhone and iPads can not display a Pdf-File that was scanned. Sometimes they only display a white screen or the pdf file is damaged (color stripes) but on every computer it´s being displayed without any error.
The Pdf file you´ll find as attachment is downloaded from the Dell website is printed and scanned on a HP LaserJet M575 MFP. On the website every iOS Device can display it without any error after I send the scanned PDF to my device it get´s damaged. In the standard App the file is very colorful and in the Adobe Reader App there are only shown white pages but again on every PC the file looks normal.
Please note that there a many more PDF Files which are also not shown correctly and these files are scanned on other devices like a Toshiba eStudio.
PDF Link for example on the Dell Website.
    Scanned PDF Link.
    Thanks for your help.

I wonder if the scanning application (that was used to generate PDFs) has defects and generates "bad" PDFs.  If it is all possible, try a different scanning application to see if it makes any difference in output.
The desktop version of Adobe Reader is a mature product, which has been in the market for decades.  It's smart enough to "repair" some of PDF syntax errors in your scanned PDF documents.
In general, scanned PDF documents have more problems because each page is entirely an image.  You cannot select text or add text markups, such as highlight, underline, etc. in scanned PDF documents.

  • How to display PDF on each device

We observed some mobile devices don't open the PDF directly and start to download.
Does this depend on OS, Browser or something else?
    We tested iPhone and Android.
Android starts to dawnload PDF by clicking PDF on our application. User has to open the PDF after downloading.
iPhone opens the PDF directly by clicking PDF on our application.
We would like to ristrict to use our application if user cannot open PDF directly.
Please advise how we can get this kind of information.

    Thank you for your reply.
    I tested with below conbinations.
iPhone and Chrome, the result is PDF is not opened.
iPhone and Safari, the PDF shows Preview screen.
Android and firefox, the PDF is downloaded.
I would like to get the infromation about the behaivour of PDF on smart phone with various combinations such as OS and Brower, and then each version of OS and Browser.
I am very sorry but I cannot speak English well.
I am not sure whether I can tell what I would like to know.
If somebody can answer in Japanese, it is also very helpful me.
Of cource I will try to understand if it is written in English.
    Thank you.

  • Hyperlinks from CHM to PDF

Our documentation comprises On-line Help as CHM files, and User Guides as PDF. Up to now the user guides were printed but we wish to provide them as PDF for on-screen use.
Now we also wish to have hyperlinks from CHM to PDF and vice versa. We can presumably (I haven't yet tested this) handle PDF-to-CHM using the context-sensitive help functionality, but when we make links from CHM-to-PDF we are unable to go to a specified location in the PDF.
The calls we use are of the type:
    <a href='SomeDocument.pdf#page=10'>
    <a href='SomeDocument.pdf#G1025448'>
    <a href='SomeDocument.pdf#nameddest=SomeChapter'>
and they work in the preview window but not from CHM; the PDF opens on page 1 rather than at the specified page or marker.
I had some success embedding the PDF call in a batch file and calling that, but that will be unmaintainable.
We use RoboHelp 8 and FrameMaker 7.1. Would updating to TCS2 (ie Frame 9) help us? From what I could find on Adobe.com TCS allows importing from Frame but we do not want to import, just to cross-refer, preferably with links which can be updated automatically.
    Anybody who can advise us?
    --- Derek

I have made a dent in the problem, can't say I've cracked it yet.
RoboWizard has a page describing the use of HTML Help Shortcuts which is got me started (thanks Rick, if you'll post here I'll give you a "Helpful Answer").
The procedure I now use is, in RoboHelp: Insert > HTML Help Controls > Shortcut. I fill in second part of the wizard like this:
so that it calles Acrobat to display the PDF (full path given), with parameters to search for a string "bookmark_2".
Then in the PDF I add a comment using Comments > Tools > Highlight and edit its properties like this:
When I compile the CHM and click the link, Acrobat opens and searches for the string. I made sure it was unique so the user is brought to the correct place.
Now it's a bit clumsy since you have to add the bookmark manually after creating the PDF from Frame, but it does work.
The other problem is that the HTML Control is not editable except in RoboHelp's HTML view. You can edit it in Design view but the edit doesn't stick. In HTML view the link details are present three times and you have to edit them all.
Anybody have bright ideas to streamline this process?

  • Error message in Adobe Pdf in printer device panel when trying to create a pdf document.  I have CS3

Error message in Adobe Pdf in printer device panel when trying to create a pdf document.  I have CS3 Web Premium with Acrobat Professional 8.  I use it fine on my old computer with Windows XP.  I recently got a new laptop with Windows 7.  I installed all my Adobe programs, and I think they are working.  When I look at Adobe PDF in the device section of the Control Panel it looks okay.  But when I try to print a Word, Photoshop, or HTML page in PDF, nothing happens.  I have tried printing both as File>print and using the PDF tab on the top menu bar.  I look at the device in the control panel and it has the yellow error warning symbol and suggests trying to troubleshoot.  I look at the document list and it says status "error".  When I try troubleshooting Windows suggests doing some Home Sharing and also suggests canceling the document I'm trying to print.  I tried re-installing just Acrobat 8 from CS3 (and have to use Photoshop CS4 disk for shared documents I guess).  I ran into a can't locate adobepdf_dll file, so did a web search on this issue and found a suggestion that I find and use the adobepdf_dll_64 file and may have to (I did have to) remove the "_64" for it to work.  I think I successfully reinstalled using that dll file- no errors came up anyway.  But still when I try printing/converting a photoshop, webpage, or word document into pdf, the pdf device in control panel still gives the error status on the document and gives the same troubleshooting advice.  Help?

I just compared the properties between the two computers.  On the old computer it has the port as "My Documents/*.pdf".  On my new computer it lists the port as "LPT1".  I tried changing the port to "Print as File", but when I try printing a photoshop picture as pdf, I get a "Access Denied".  I then tried to create a new port on the device control panel.  I tried to create a local port "My Documents/*.pdf" port but was denied.  I ten tried to create a new port type and control panel asked for an INF file.  I wonder if this is where my problem lies.  Thoughts?

  • How can I open a new window for a (calculated) PDF?

    Hi,
I have a BSP application with MVC. The start page is a HTML/HTMLB page with some buttons. If you click on the buttons, you get a PDF document in the same browser window. I generated the PDF over smart forms from table/Cluster data.
I call the controller in the OnInputProcessing event handler of the page and give it the parameters.
The problem: if you are on the PDF you cannot come back to the start page. I think, it is better, if the PDF gets a new window. The user can open on this way many PDF docs.
I tryed with navigation->next_page(...) or call_view etc. but all this dosn't work. Only the PDF will be show and in the same window!
Do I have to separe the application in two applications and use the CALL_APPLICATION method?
Or does anyone know a better way?
    Thank you!
