Hyperlinks in Captivate 7

I created several text captions that hyperlinked to different slides in my Captivate 7 (64 bit version) presentation. At one point they all worked beautifully. Today I went to check the presentation before sending it out and only 4 out of the 12 hyperlinks still worked. This holds true in SWF published mode or when I use F4 to preview. (When they all worked,they also worked using F4 preview and as published as a SWF file). Now, when I click on a hyperlink that doesn't work, the presentation just stops. It doesn't freeze because I can still click on the working links. I might add I also have two buttons on the same slide that hyperlink to different slides as well. This was working so beautifully before I am pulling my hair out to figure it out. I've been comparing the working hyperlinks with the non working ones to see if there are any differences in the settings and they look identical to me. I'd appreciate any help anyone can give me. The problem is NOT Adobe Flash security, as I tried that fix and got no results. I tried removing then reestablishing the hyperlinks and that did no good either. I did an F9 and saw nothing that would help. Thanks in advance for your help.

Thank you for your response. Unfortunatey I have tried everything you mentioned. The hyperlinks don't work in html or swf. The strange thing is that the first 4 do work and the remaining ones on the same slide do not, so I went back to see if I could spot any differences in how the first four were set up as opposed to the ones that didn't work so I did look at modify the hyperlink for the working and non working hyperlinks. I can't find any differences. I also tried "force republish all slides" before and that didn't work. I apologize. I realize now I didn't list everything I tried in my original post (which of course has led to a great deal of frustration because I have to get this training out.)
Here's another thought. I had a button on that same slide that hyperlinked to the final test results slide (I had quiz questions scattered throughout the presentation.) I wanted to be able to allow participants to quickly access the final test results slide if they chose to move around the presentation in their own way. I found that by adding this button, it counted as a test question and added a point to the overall score. When I unchecked this 'include in score' box, everything worked fine, except that's when I noticed my hyperlinks didn't work. Connected?

In Captivate you do this by adding an interactive object (e.g. button or click box) and then setting the Action > On Success option to Send e-mail to.
Specify the email address in the field provided.

Hyperlinks in Captivate Project

I have created a course within Captivate and on the very last slide I have referenced 3 hyperlinks that are useful to the end user.
I have written the URL's using a caption and then used a transparent button over the top of the URL that is setup so if the user clicks on the transparent button they are directed to the URL in a new window.
What I would like is for the last slide to stay exactly as it is, so having the 3 hyperlinks available to the user. But whenever a user clicks on one of the hyperlinks the slide continues and the text disappears, I do have the end course setting as stop project.
What is the best way to make a slide stop and not do anything using a transparent button only seems to work once, after a user clicks on one of the transparent buttons that is hyperlinked the course moves on.
Do you have any suggestions?

Hyperlinks in Captivate 6

I have developed a lesson in adobe captivate6. windows7 system
I have give some external hyperlinks (weblinks) those are working in local output but not working in .swf SCORM wrapped published files
I have copied webpage in source and published folder even now hyperlinks are not working
Could anyone please help me in detail to resolve this issue.??

Hi,
In Scorm, hyperlinks doesn't work if we select the option of opening the link in the current page. Select the option of 'New' and check.
It worked for me. Please let me know if that works for you as well.

Hyperlink in Captivate Course Closes LMS Window

Has anybody run into this problem before? I created a short course in Captivate 5.5. Just a few slides so that users can link to and open a long video we have housed on a hosting service. When I preview the course in Captivate, the link works fine. The website opens and I can run the video. But, when I publish the course to our LMS (HealthStream) and try to link to the video, the LMS window closes immediately without going to the website. This could very well be an LMS problem, but I am getting desperate and hoping somebody else has run into this problem with HealthStream or another LMS. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have the link set to open the video link in a new blank browser session or in the same browser?
One thing to be aware of here is that SCORM courses were not originally designed (according to the SCORM standard) to link outside of the module for other content. They're supposed to be totally self-contained units of learning. By linking outside the SCORM module and opening other windows you can run the risk of interrupting the communication with the LMS via the SCORM API. This might be why your LMS is terminating the session. It might interpret your link to the video on the hosting service as a sign you've finished viewing the module.
If the hosted video is FLV or F4V, have you tried streaming it into the Captivate module as Slide Video instead of opening it in another browser session?

Hyperlinks don't work in Captivate 5.0 ?

I'm using captivate 5.0 and try to set a hyperlink on a slide which is imported from powerpoint. How can I do this? And what do I have to do to import also the hyperlinks alredy set in the powerpoint presentation?

Hello and welcome to the forum,
You will have to recreate the hyperlinks in Captivate, it will not import from PPT. Use an interactive object (maybe a click box) and choose as Success command 'Open URL' if that is what your hyperlink has to do, or one of the other commands (like Jump to Slide...). You didn't tell what kind of hyperlink you need?

I can't get my Dynamic PDF Widget to work in Captivate 7

Hello all,
I've been trying to get my Dynamic PDF to work in my Captivate 7 project. I have created a button on the final slide where I want the user to open the PDF, I have named it correctly to correspond with the Dynamic PDF. I have also updated everything within the editor to appear how I would like it to appear. I have also tried viewing it in various formats such as Published, In a Browser etc. and nothing appears to work for me.
What am I doing wrong?

Hi Peter,
Please make sure that the pdf is also saved in the same published folder .
Also test the behavior in other browsers as well like Chrome and Firefox .
If you still face this issue then try to add the published output in trusted location of Flash.

You can use an interactive object such as a click box placed over the top of a text caption, or a button, to link to the URL. However, these will not strictly-speaking appear identical to hyperlinks.
If you really want to replicate the rollover appearance of a true HTML text hyperlink, then you might consider the Hyperlink widget from Infosemantics:

Hyperlinks to web pages don't work in Captivate 7 or 8

I should have read that more closely.
It doesn't seem to apply. The only reason that would matter is if you were running the SWF-output from Captivate locally.
ALWAYS test your product from the web to avoid any such security issues.
But yes, if you're putting the published file on a local/network drive, then that security change will need to be applied and, yes, for every computer that accesses the file.
You definitely want to distribute from an HTTP location.
I did hope the first part of that article would help. They're not difficult to setup once you find the option. Just highlight some text and right-click to setup the hyperlink...right?

Can I import hyperlinks in Power Point 2007 to Captivate?

I have a presentation in Power Point 2007 I imported into Captivate 6. Within the Power Point presentaiton, the user cannot navigate through the presentation without clicking one of two objects on the slide. Each of these objects is hyperlinked to another slide with in the Power Point. When I imported this Power Point presentation into Captivate, the hyperlinks with the objects did not import even though "high fidelity" was clicked. Is there a way to solve this problem?

Hey everyone,
I've just created a project here and used a click box to link the learner to a hyperlink (external website http://.....). I've tested this out in the "preview" mode and the hyperlink works. Next, I published the project and now the hyperlink doesn't work. I click on the area and nothing happens...not even an empty browser window will appear. Has anyone else run into this issue?!?!

Hyperlinks dont work in captivate 6 , when created using import from powerpoint 2013

We are trying to create a captivate presentation by importing a powerpoint presentation that has hyperlinks in it. However, it seems that the hyperlinks don't work when the project is published as a swf file. When you mouse over the hyperlink, the mouse changes the cursor to a hand, but when you click it, nothing happens ? Anyone had the same problem ?

If you are testing this locally, perhaps you need to configure the Flash Player Trusted Location settings?

I cannot seem to locate this function on the menus in Captivate 5.

It's unfortunate that you missed the links we tried to put where you would find them before you even posted. Because if you had read through them, it would have saved you from having to post your question as it is answered there.
Even though you missed the links, I'd heartily encourage you to read through them. Especially the Frequently Encountered Issues link, as it will also address some issues you will likely encounter with linking.

Clinked Hyperlink opens in two Tabs?? Captivate 3

Got an interesting issue that I have not seen before
in Captivate 3. An imported .ppt slide deck that has hyperlinks on
several of the slide is opening the links, when clicked, in two
browser windows or two browser tabs. any Ideas on how to resolve? I
can add click boxes over the links and those open in a single
window/tab without issue but really do not want to do that for all
hyperlinks.

Hi Jim
Click Box and Button objects should pause the slide until the
user clicks. This is their default behavior. Once the user clicks,
they often carry out two actions.
* They perform the action assigned
* The click releases the pause and the slide continues play
If you have used a Button object, these are OCC (One Click
Chumps) all you get is a single click. If you have used a Click Box
object, you may repeatedly click them and the action will be
carried out time and time again.
If you have pointed either one of these at a URL, you should
edit the properties of the object. Specifically, look to the right
of where you typed the URL. You should see a small button with a
down arrow on it. Click this button and you should see an option
labeled
New. Choose this option and the link should open in a new
tab or browser instance. But if that's all you did, the page would
open and play would continue on your Captivate. So what you have to
do is to click the button a second time and ensure you DE-select
the option labeled "Continue Playing Project". If you do this, the
project should stay put until you return.
