Hyperlinks in cells, how do you deal with it?

I've got the hyperlinks palette open (Windows menu / Interactive / Hyperlinks)
Selecting a cell (or a table), that I would like to be clickable in a PDF, disables the hyperlinks address text field:
Obviously hyperlinks from cells are not supported.
How do you deal with it? Do you put empty textboxed on top of each cell that should be clickable?
Thanks,
Andreas

@Andreas – to choose buttons over text based hyperlinks would mean you can define the area that is responsive like you want (the size is the size of the button) and you could design different button states in different ways (color, images, what not…).
For the scripter in you: Hyperlink objects have no geometric bounds, Button objects have…
Just an idea:
Imagine a script that is scanning all cells of a selected table and if there are hyperlinks detected uses position, width and height of that cell to generate a button just on top of the cell (it could be well on a different layer above) using the information the hyperlink provides. Every time the table is changed by the user and the script is fired again, the old buttons are removed and new buttons will be built…
If there are more hyperlinks than one in a specific cell, the buttons will be built around the area the hyperlinked text will occupy…

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Don't download MacKeeper. Users complain about this app and it damages OS X. Also, Mac OS X knows how to take care of itself, so you don't need any other cleaning application that may damage OS X. See > https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3691

How do you deal with error message when downloading movie on iPad2.  Movie was 75% complete.

I was using wifi.  It shows as a purchase on iTunes but it does not show up on iTunes for download.  I keep getting the download error with our a number attached on the iPad.  Very frustrating.   Apple has been of no help at all.

  • How are you dealing with Comptia CEUs? Do it, or let expire?

Helps, I think most places I think if you have a few years of experience these things kind of become meaningless in many cases it seems. I think the certs are more get your foot in the door or if maybe you're dealing with gov't, etc that may have some mandated need for these. I think at some point the justification of certs lessens.
In some cases though even experiencecan be useless though (although most prefer it over certs). I knew a person that was in I.T since the 90s, started working on newer systems with SATA, etc, mobile stuff. He would do all kinds of stupid crap took pliers to disconnect SATA cables ripped the connector off HDD, had no idea how user profiles worked so would just delete them to fix outlook, lost people's docs, etc at least once. Eventuallyhe was demoted, they tried to get him to do A+ as refresher, or something...

I was just looking at this, I took some more specialized security classes this summer. They said this should count for Comptia CEUs. I was kind of always under the impression you just somehow submitted these things, or your experience and something to verify the experience. I looked on the site and it looks like they also want like $50 just for you to add them. Like $300 for the cert, and then you want like $50 a year for CEU fee that seems a bit ridiculous to me.
If I wasn't looking for a job and had more experience I'd say forget it let it expire. I don't see why people with any real experience level would even bother dealing with this unless some odd reason it was mandatory at work, etc. I honestly think Comptia is kind of shooting themselves in the foot doing this. I suppose if it's something to do with like CEU processing, etc...

  • British Columbia BC users - how are you dealing with the PST Exemption for Youth Products?

    Hi BC Community,
Reaching out to everyone and anyone to help with this.  Has anyone had any luck (in British Columbia) dealing with PST Exemption for Youth product? More specifically if a product has a full tax item (12%) and a Youth Exempt Item (5%) in the cart, at the same time.
As you know, if you add to British Columbia Tax Codes (BC-12% and BC-5%) and you have product in your cart, like the above mentioned - the Destination State overrides any product level Tax Codes.
Looking for some help with this one.
    Thanks,

  • How do you deal with separate shifts/phones/lines/etc?

I'm not entirely sure of the exact question i'm trying to ask, but essentially how do you handle phone/Agent logins where the agents are not at dedicated desks?  Meaning, they may not sit at the same location every day, or there may be other shifts that sit at that location when they're gone.
What do you do with their personal extensions
What do you do with the IPCC Extension
Maybe i'm just trying to overthink this and it's simpler than i think.
    What does everyone else do?
    JM

    Hi
Yes, they would log into the phone and then the CAD software seperately.
A seperate specific extension for IPCC is optional; lots of my customers just have a single, personal extension that doubles as their IPCC extension without any problems.
The only mandatory bits are that each agent must have a unique, non shared extension that is set on their 'end user' page as their IPCC Extension.
    So
    - the physical phones would have non-user-specific 'logged out' numbers
    - each user would have an EM profile that has a unique extension (and optional personal extension if you prefer)
    - each user would have that unique/ipcc extension set as the IPCC extension on their user config
    - they log on to the phone, and their extension(s) appear on the phone in place of the 'logged out' number
    - they can then log into the Agent software
    Regards

  • Canadian BC users, how are you dealing with HST, GST and PST/QST?

Hi, I'm new here and I've been building my first BC eCommerce site for a client for almost a year. It's a business to business site, dealing with about 5000 SKUs. It's currently in trial mode, and we're about to go live with it. I have a problem with taxes I hoped I'd be able to sort out, but haven't found a solution.
My client's head office is in Ontario and they sell from there, and also from Quebec, though online sales will be limited from Ontario for now. Ontario, like B.C., where I am, and a number of other provinces have HST. The remaining provinces have GST and PST/QST, except Alberta, which only has GST. My client sells thoughout Canada, and also to the U.S.
Scenario 1) When one sells from an HST province to a customer in another HST province, the seller must collect and remit the HST for the buyer's province. For example, I work from B.C. with 12% HST, and my client has 13% HST in Ontario. I have to invoice them for my services, collecting and remitting 13% HST.
Scenario 2) When one sells from any province to a customer in a non-HST province other than Quebec, the seller charges GST and is encouraged, and depending on the province they are selling to, required, to register for that province's PST and collect and remit that tax as well. Otherwise the customer is required to self-assess the PST on the purchase.
Scenario 3) When one sells from any province to a customer in Quebec, they must apply the GST to the purchase, and then apply the QST (Quebec Sales Tax) to that total. Again, out of province sellers are expected to collect and remit the QST.
Scenario 1 is fine. Currently I've set up all HST provinces with their corresponding rate.
Scenario 2 is problematic from a legal taxation standpoint. I've set up all GST+PST provinces and Quebec with 5% GST only. This will not be acceptable to my client as their sales volumes are quite high and they have to remit other province's PST.
Scenario 3 seems impossible on BC, but will become a lesser problem until January 2013, when Quebec changes to Scenario 2 (i.e. the QST will no longer piggy-back the GST but will be raised so there is no change to the total tax)
Further, most businesses will want to see the GST and PST appear separately on the invoice, not calculated together as seems to be the case now.
Has anyone managed to set up GST and PST/QST in the system, so both taxes appear in the cart/checkout process, and separately on the invoice?
    Thanks for any assistance!

This might require the discussion to move to the advanced code development section, but I'll post it here first anyway.
So after about 2 weeks, I'm not sure there's a solution to this. I've tried a variety of JavaScript and JQuery approaches to do a show/hide of the appropriate tag based on the province chosen in the {tag_shippingoptions} drop down. The cleanest way was with JQuery and I got it to work outside of Business Catalyst, but not when implemented in my cart.
The problems seems to be threefold.
    1. The onchange of the "shipping state" dropdown calls ApplyTaxRate() in an unmodifiable back-end .js file. If I try to have local JS or JQ work on the same function call to do my show/hide, not only does the show/hide not work, but it breaks communication with the back-end .js so no taxes get calculated/updated.
    2. If I create my own shipping menus calling the same functions (acutally just copy/pasted the inspected HTML), the taxes update OK, but the menu selections don't persist, AND if I then inject my show/hide, the show/hide doesn't work and all the functionality of the ApplyTaxRate function breaks.
    3. If I try to call an additional function for the show/hide, from the onchange of my own menu, the ApplyTaxRate function works, but the additional fucntion doesn't work as it does outside of BC.
Here is my partial code. Any help?
    <div class="shippingStateDiv"><span id="shippingStateSpan">Destination State<br />

  • How do you deal with browser incompatibilities?

I have set up a modest private voluntary organisation website very successfully with CS5 and it shows perfectly on Internet Explorer, but not on Safari. The central section (table) of each page on Safari is offset to the right. Why is this and how can I correct it? Top and bottom sections (tables) are all OK.
I've used CS3 for years and as far as I know have had no trouble, and could see it on both browsers OK. I know a bit about code but I do find that CS5 expects me to do more with code than I'm used to. I'm also very used to doing tables - is that the problem?
I've even re-done one of the short pages from scratch to try and work out what's wrong, but same thing happens. I've got several CS5 help books but can't pin this down, apart from the suggestion of doing the Browser Compatibility test on Dreamweaver, which I did, but it said no probs.
Most of you will know at once what's wrong - something very simple I'm sure - and I hope someone will tell me.
Thanks to anyone who can help.

I'm very grateful to everyone who has taken the trouble to comment, and I shall study the replies.
But looking more at these Forums I think I can see that my problem is really Spry.
For years I ran 2 amateur websites very successfully using CS3, with Xara MenuMaker as my Menu Bar.
Then bought CS5 and Xara MM was not compatible with the new CS5 (Xara confirmed this - could only be continued with a long roundabout fix, too complicated for me).
So tried doing the D's own Spry Menu Bar - eventually got the hang of it (well, partly, let's say). It hasn't turned out beautfully like Xara did (no doubt I'll get the hang of that better later), but more importantly it forces my text on the page below it to jump about, and I can see now that it is probably responsible for whatever rogue coding is causing my offset problem.
Also - probably significant - the Dreamweaver pages as I work on them on my PC show the offset problem, although when I send them up they seem fine in IE but rubbish in Safari.
I think CS3 plus Xara is better for me - though I don't like to think I'm defeated, having paid for the update. And Spry menus are much less clumsy to prepare than Xara was. (As an amateur who wants to use Dreamweaver so that I can control what I'm doing, I find that CS3 was less demanding in terms of code than CS5. I seem able to do less tweaking by keyboard and must do more code now.)

  • How do you deal with VZW's unfair business practices and speak to a real person?

Has anyone else had issues with VZW's form of help in what they refer to as a "loyalty program."  I have been with VZW for about 15 years now and have been attending college for the past three years.  When I called and waited what seemed an eternity for customer service, the scripted customer service on the other end offered me what seemed to be the perfect "loyalty program" plan for me.  I rarely talk on my phone and at $70+ a month, I was feeling a bit taken advantage of.  The plan was $35/month but my minutes were greatly reduced, not that I was worried.  What they failed to mention was that nights and weekends were no longer included in my plan, as well as holidays; they would all be charged for from then on.  I found this out when I received my first bill ($135) and it was through the roof (December and holiday calls.)  When I called in and waited...and waited again, they told me that they would look into it and adjust it.  This never happened, and I called again.  And waited, and waited....when I talked to someone that time they told me they would take care of it.  They took care of the bill part, but not the plan itself.  You could imagine my surprise when my next bill came and it was even higher than the last (235.)  More research showed that they were charging me for VZW to VZW calls as well.  Three more attempts to talk to a manager concerning this issue, not to mention the waiting.  I then received a call from a "manager" who proceeded to speak to me in a condescending tone, blamed me for the issue, and no short called me a liar.  Did I fail to mention that "they" told me that my bill was adjusted to $140 just to tell me it was $235?
My time spent with VZW is now over six hours, yet my frustration is immeasurable.  Now I am receiving automated phone calls concerning my bill with no option to speak to anyone.  I don't feel like I should have to spend more time waiting....and literally, waiting to talk to somebody.  I want to pay my bill but feel that it is not what I was presented, nor would I ever have agreed to had I been given the information.  If I cannot come to a mutual agreement with VZW, I am willing to change carries.  Can anyone help?

Verizon has by far the worst customer service of any other carrier available. They make it near impossible to contact anyone. I guess they keep you on hold for a minimum of 30 minutes just so you will get fed up and hang up. All be it they have a very good coverage area, however it does not include my home in Oklahoma nor does it include y current job assignment in South Africa. So Verizon has a solution, pay for a service I cannot use. I have tried to suspend the phone indefinitely but that too has become a big issue. I check weekly expecting an underhanded maneuver on their part and sure enough they slipped it in. Verizon is by far the worst experience I have ever had with a service provider. I cannot believe I have been with them since 2008. In Mexico y bills were through the roof, $700 to $1000 a month. When I cam back from Ukraine they tried their suttle sales ad actually sold me a new subscription that would take away my old data package ad a phone that I could not use overseas, they will not unlock more than 1 phone in a 10 month period ad since I just had my phone unlocked the new phone could not be unlocked. Verizon will bend you over at every opportunity they can fine. As soon as my lawyer gets this settled I will never use nor will I ever refer anyone to Verizon again. My suggestion, cut your losses because I assure you they will continue to offend you, and find another service. Verizon is just plain not worth the trouble. Want an idea of how they monitor this community forum. They tell their own people to respond to the more frictional posts and insult the authors. Just read them, you can see this a mile away.

  • Slow Playback: I now know why but how do you deal with

So creative products can't play mp3's at kHz. Any other software and mp3 players that I have ever owned (6) has not had this limitation. A ton of my files (voice, talk, comedy, radio)are in this format. Before I return my Micro I am willing to look at work arounds. This limitation is so blatent that it should certainly be addressed in the next firmware.
Short of this, does anyone have any recommendations to automatically convert files of this sort to a format acceptable to creative.com? I've got lame, mp3directcut, registered redchair, and other audio software but *seriously* why does this $250 player have such a limitation when that last six I have owned (even my returned ipod) have not?
    Creative- fix it!

My question is 1) How do we manage all these clips ?
final cut organizes them by project, usually in the User Name/Documents/Final Cut Documents folder. This 101 on projects might help: http://www.peachpit.com/articles/article.aspx?p=1187965
    I have over 200 clips in a 10 min segment .
    2) Is there a program that will join them again ?
that's what you are doing with FCE - cutting stuff together. the original clips are still in one piece, FCE just writes the info to the project file saving your layout, clip duration, order, effects, etc.
it's been awhile since I worked with Final cut on a regular basis. been trying to get back into it. the older versions required that you create a Bin for the project first, but I don't think you have to do that anymore.

  • How do you deal with connection problems?

All of a sudden I'm having major connection problems with DW. I have checked my FTP settings against Yahoo's specs since that's who I host with and I've also talked to my ISP. Neither Yahoo nor my ISP can figure out what the problem is. To my knowledge I haven't changed any browser or firewall settings, but I'm having problems uploading pages to my site. I CAN connect to my site and it uploads a few pages, but then loses the connection and has to reconnect. It's also running REALLY slow, like dialup slow. I don't get any other error messages beside the fact that the connection has been lost. I did notice something in the FTP log that says No anonymous logins accepted. Is that a Yahoo thing, ISP problem or DW problem? If anybody knows how to fix this please let me know a.s.a.p. Thanks in advance for your help!

First, test out the FTP connection using a dedicated FTP client (FileZIlla/Transmit  PC/Mac respectively). If you can connect and upload/download succesfully using a stand-alone FTP clieny, that means it's a Dreamweaver problem. Possible solutions: check your site settings, recreate your site by defining a new site - Dreamweaver sometimes messes up the site definitions and recreating the site definition can sometimes fix it. Or just give up on using Dreamweaver's FTP services. To be honest, Dreamweaver's FTP services have always been a bit iffy in my experience. I typically do my uploading using a seperate FTP client.

  • How do you deal with gigantic file sizes?

    Hi all --
I am shooting a documentary right now and are having some problems exporting the project in FCE. Here's my work flow:
I capture footage from my Canon HF10 (1440x1080) with iMovie. Next, I import the folder with all MOV files into FCE into a sequence and edit the movie within FCE. Works like a charm! However, when I export to a high-def movie, a 20GB file is created from a 2-min clip. I intend to edit a feature-length movie, which means that a *800GB file* will be created from 80 min of footage! Since I have two FireWire800 Terrabyte hard drives (one for capturing+editing, the other as a backup), it's not a major problem. However, if I want to downsize the video with the Quicktime conversion, the 3-min clip (20 GB) takes about 4 hrs on my 2.33 GHz Intel DuelCore processor with 3GB RAM. If I extrapolate this to the full length of the final feature-length movie, it will take about *160 hrs to convert the movie!* Even if I'd buy the fastest quad-core processor machine, it would still take days!
Am I doing something wrong here?
What's the most economic work flow to edit/export a HD movie in FCE?
Thanks a lot for your help!

Unfortunately, I don't have an answer for you, but as a point of reference... I just started working with HD on my Canon HV30. I just rendered a 1m46s clip that included some stills at the end with some keyframing. I did File>Export>QuickTime Movie and it rendered in about 7 minutes and resulted in a 1.26GB file.

  • How do you deal with API calls that do not exist in some versions of OS X

For example, I have been writing this app to manage the ipfw (Darwin's side of it). I have been confused about a lot of things because the command could do more then the API calls.
As it turns out, there is another firewall API ip_fw2 which does all this stuff I have been trying to figure out.
The problem is that OS X 10.3 does not have ip_fw2. I could check the versions of the OS and do some if (OSX > 10.3) then do ip_fw2 else ip_fw.
The question is, the code for ip_fw2 is in my binary and even if I never call it, will the loader have a problem on 10.3? I know in some cases on windows having an API call in your code that is not even run, will prevent the exe from even loading. There is this lazy linking thing I think you can do to work around that. Can you do that on OS X and what compiler options do I need?

    TheSilverHammer wrote:
Thats some nice info, but what if it is not a "framework"? These are basic Darwin API calls, not Apple Frameworks.

This doesn't make any sense. You didn't define any of the symbols in any of the frameworks or libraries Apple provides--that does not inhibit your ability to link against them, weakly or otherwise.

  • So how do YOU deal with artwork?

I finally installed 7.0.2. Everything is working dandy. Love the new gapless feature (time for upgrading the iPod , the new look and definitely the ability of downloading album art. However, I'm not so sure about this new way of storing art. I understand pros and cons but can't decide whether I should just embrace the new technology or cling to the "old ways". So far I've been manually updating the covers, right-clicking on the cover and copying it, right-click removing it from selected tracks, and pasting the file back on to the artwork window. It doesn't take very long and embeds the graphic into the tracks.
But I kind of feel like a someone stuck in the past...

If you have an iTunes account why not just just click on the advanced tab in iTunes and select "get album artwork". iTunes fetch all the artwork it has for all of your songs in iTunes, and you don't have to worry about search for the artwork yourself.
