Hyperlinks in Crystal Reports

Hi, Gurus,
I am new to Crystal Rports and trying to create Hyperlinks from Summary to Detail report.
I am in confusion which report is Source and Tearget (Summary or Detail) that I should copy the object and paste into Report part for Another Report Object.
And not sure whether object refers to Column Heading or Group heading or details. I am using evaluation version 2008
Can anyone please help me on this.
Thanks in advance
Sree Raj

Hi Sree,
As I understand you want to link your summary report to details report through hyperlink.
In this scenario you have to create hyperlink from the source to destination i.e from summary to detail report.
If your summary is placed in Group Footer section then Objects will be Group Footer and so on.
Please let us know if you need any further clarification.
Regards,
Ankeet

Hyperlink on Crystal Report: how to popup a window without menubar?
    Hello Experts!
I'm using VS2003 with Crystal Reports for VS2003.
I need to show a popup window clicking a hyperlink text object on my crystal report.
On the CrystalReportViewer I have set up HyperlinkTarget=_blank, and it's working fine.
But when I click on the hyperlink and shows the popup window, how can I show the popup window without menubar, toolbar, directories, etc.
    Something like:
    window.open('../MyPage.html?id=id001" + Cad + "',null,'menubar=no,scrollbars=yes,toolbar=no,location=no,directories=no,resizable=yes,status=yes')

Adam is correct. The closest you can get is setting the CrystalReportViewers HyperlinkTarget to _blank. It was seen as a potential security vulnerability to allow you to run scripts from a Crystal Reports. In our Enterprise product you can use a reg key called EncodeHTMLForSingleLineFieldObjects to control whether this can be turned on or off.
Unfortunately this was never ported over to our .NET CrystalReportViewer.

  • Hyperlinks in Crystal reports  - SAP BW BI environment

    Hi Gurus,
I am working on SAP BI BO integration environment on Cystal reports 2008 and WebI reports. Source for both of them are BEx queries.
    1. I need to create a hyperlink on one crystal report column which opens another Crystal report. The target cystal has 2 prompts which are optional and a date range prompt which is mandatory. I am trying to create hyperlink using Hyperlink tab of Format editor. How to make the target report prompts as optional and how pass date range.
    2. I need to create a hyperlink on one crystal report column which opens another WebI report. The rest of details are same as above.
How to acheive this requirement. If you have any thoughts, please share
    Thanks
    Praveen

Take a look at the openDocument documentation
    http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/boexir31SP3/en/xi31_sp3_opendocument_en.pdf
If a prompt is optional you have to add it to your URL only if you really want to pass a value. If no value is available then you can ommit it.
I ould recommend to create your on formula field that puts the URL together and not use the hyperlink wizard. This way you can build the link accordingly depending on the availability of parameter values.

On the preview window when i Right click on the hyperlink i can see the option "Go To Hyperlink"
Is it possible to hide the "Go To Hyperlink" feature?

    Hi Arun,
If you don't want the user to be able to go to a hyper link then convert it to a string. Then the option won't appear... No option to turn it off.

  • Hyperlinks within Crystal Reports

    Hello,
I am using Crystal Reports to create a statement. We would like to include hyperlinks in our report. We have already created hyperlinks within the report. The hyperlinks are only operational when I click within the subreport. I want to process my report to a PDF and have the hyperlinks work. Any Suggestions? I am currently working in Crystal 8.5 (we have 10 but our database is not matching up).

As an alternative, at least one of the 3rd-party Crystal Reports Manager tools listed at http://www.kenhamady.com/bookmarks.html can use visible or hidden (white font) formulas anywhere within a Crystal report (including inside subreports) to create file, web, or email links at that same location within the pdf export of the report. Optionally, an image (such as a .png button image can be added to provide a GUI for the link.

  • Hyperlink on data field crystal report vs 2005

    Please help!!!!
I can not set the hyperlink on a data field in *.rpt.
I also set the hyperlink type was A website on internet and filled the website address. But when report display i can not see any link.
    Thanks in advanges,

    Hello,
    (from CR Help file)
You can select a report object on the Design or Preview tab and create a hyperlink to another location.
The hyperlink is saved with your report and is available to other users as a way of viewing additional information.
Note:    Crystal Reports also lets you create hyperlinks with Relative URLs, so your web reports retain independence from their location on any particular server.
    To create a hyperlink field
Select a report object on the Design or Preview tab.
On the Format menu, click Hyperlink.
The Format Editor dialog box appears with the Hyperlink tab active.
Click the type of hyperlink you want to create.
The available types in the upper area are:
    No Hyperlink
This is the default option. There is no hyperlink associated with the selected report object.
    A Website on the Internet
Select this option if you want your report object to be linked to a static web address. Use the formula button to create a URL based on a field value. For example, you might enter the following formula if your Customer Name field contained information that would create a series of meaningful URLs:
    "http://www." + {Customer.Customer Name} + ".com"
Note:    You can also use this option to connect to Business Objects, Web Intelligence, and OLAP Intelligence documents (this is also known as report linking). Use the openDocument function to create these hyperlinks in Crystal Reports.
    Current Website Field Value
Select this option if you want the program to create a hyperlink out of the field you selected. The field must be stored as a proper hyperlink in your data source.
    An E-mail Address
Select this option if you want to create a "mailto" address from the field you selected. Use the formula button to create an address based on a field value.
    A File
Select this option to create a hyperlink to a file on a specific computer or networked computer. Use the formula button to create a file path based on a field value.
You can also use a hyperlink of this type to run an EXE with a command-line parameter. Enter the path and application name, and follow it by the parameter for the command.
    Current E-mail Field Value
Select this option if you want the program to create an email hyperlink out of the field you selected. The field must be stored as a proper email address in your data source.
The available types in the DHTML Viewer Only area are:
    Report Part Drilldown
For information about how to use this option, see The Report Part Drilldown option.
    Another Report Object
For information about how to use this option, see The Another Report Object option.
Note:    Not all hyperlink types are available at all times. The object you select and its location on the report determine which types are available.
After you have chosen a hyperlink type, enter the appropriate hyperlink information (the URL of a web site, for example).
Click OK when you are finished.
The hyperlink is inserted as appropriate. Click it on the report to go to the web site, to send an e-mail, and so on.

  • Adding a Hyperlink to a crystal Report

    Hi,
A File: Links to a file on the user's computer.
i don't have CMC access in BO, so i am going to save report in local folder.
How to hyper link parent crystal report to child report  using A File method.
    Please suggest any solution??
    Thanks,
    Chandrakant

    Hi Chandrakant,
Where do you view the reports from?
If you View the reports in InfoView, you should consider uisng an openDoc URL to hyperlink to another report.
The 'File' option will try to open the file in the application associated with it. If the machine doesn't have CR designer installed, the hyperlink will not work.

  • Crystal Report (visual studio 2005)-Hyperlink not working on exported PDF

I have created a crystal report by using VS 2005, there are some hyperlinks inside the report.
After i exported the report to PDF, I check the PDF file, none of the link contains inside the PDF file.
It seems a bug, i google this issue, some people can export to RTF first and then in RTF save as PDF, then the link should be there. I tried it, it works, but it totally mess up my report layout.
    Please advise,
    Tommy

Typing the terms "pdf export hyperlink crystal" in the search box at the top right corner of this page comes up with the following KB (5th hit):
[Hyperlinks to files do not work when exported to Portable Document Format (PDF)|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/oss_notes_boj/sdn_oss_boj_bi/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/scn_bosap/notes%7B6163636573733d36393736354636443646363436353344333933393338323636393736354637333631373036453646373436353733354636453735364436323635373233443330333033303331333233313336333633363337%7D.do].
"Messed" up report export to RTF does not tell me much either. A link to a screenshot will be great.

  • Crystal Report Hyperlink to Sub-report or other report

    Hi,
I would like to create a report on which the first part will show project summary page. The second part will have all project detail pages and third part with all project financial informations.
The report should work in such a way whenever user clicks on any project at first summary page this has to jump to corresponding detail page of projects.
I have the following question regarding design of this report.
    1. Do I need to create a saparate report as a sub report and then merge with main report in a footer section? Or is it ok to create sub-report within main report through sub-report wizard option?
    2. How can I establish hyperlink between the pages i.e. summary to detail pages?
    3. back hyperlink to first pages.
I am expecting more information about hyperlink options within Crystal report.
    Thanks
    -Sunil Prasad

    Hi Sunil
    - For your first question: . Do I need to create a saparate report as a sub report and then merge with main report in a footer section? Or is it ok to create sub-report within main report through sub-report wizard option?
You can create a separate report and then insert it as a subreport in the main report or create it with sub report wizard.
Once you click on Insert -> Subreport, you can see there are two options, one is to point to an existing report and another is to create it through wizard.
    - 2. How can I establish hyperlink between the pages i.e. summary to detail pages?
You can use the hyperlink between report objects.  Also you can apply a customized formula for this.
    Check the below SAP Notes:

  • Hyperlink error : on Exporting crystal report to Editable RTF format

Hi , In my crystal report I have hyperlink which works normally. Now when I export this report to Editable RTF format; the hyperlink gives error "Error! Hyperlink reference not valid. "
    It works for other formats.
    Please help

This issue was patched for Crystal Reports XI R1
    Hot Fix Name: commonXIwin_chf.zip
    Adapt Number-ADAPT00408450
    Description:
When exporting a report with email hyperlink to editable RTF format,
    the links do not work.
    New Behavior:
    This is now resolved.
Here is a link to the hotfix:
    ftp://ftp1.businessobjects.com/outgoing/CHF/commonXIwin_chf.zip
If you are using XI R2 and are still encountering this, then please check that you have installed the latest service pack (SP3) - and if the issue still occurs, then this may need to be tracked as a bug again.  However my understanding is that this was fixed for R2

  • Crystal Report 2008 / JavaScript hyperlink formula/ Issue

    Hi,
We've developed the Crystal Report using the Crystal Reports 2008 software & integrated it in asp.net web page and also deployed in IIS web server. We have a requirement like opening the sub report in a new window. We have integrated the sub report also in a asp.net web page & passing the parameters in URL & acheived it..
For the above, we have used JavaScript code like "javascript:window.open('SubReport.aspx','...','..' ...)" in the hyperlink formula field of main report. It works fine while running using VS 2005 in the development box.
But in production serer (Windows 2003 server), the JS URL in the formula field is not working properly. Instead , it is rendered as a drill down JS url. Like javascript:bobj.event.publish('drilldown',........)
Can you please help us to resolve this issue?
(OR) Do we have any other approach to open the web page in new window from CR (same like a popup window)
    Thanks
    Jeyakumar
Edited by: Jeyakumar Seenivasagam on Nov 21, 2008 12:02 PM

I understand that the point of this is to allow the URL link to open the Subreport.aspx page in a new window. This can be problematic due to cross-site scripting restrictions. A few years ago we found that it was possible for report writers to add JavaScript to reports. This isn't a problem if the report writers are honest and nice. However, it is possible for JavaScript to be malicious so that ability to include JavaScript was turned off when the app uses our webform viewers. There may be a way to turn it off in the registry though. This is documented for CR XI r2 [here|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/oss_notes/sdn_oss_boj_erq/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/scn_bosap/notes.do].
I am not sure if this reg key works for the .NET viewer, though the note specifies DHTML and .NET InfoView, so CR should work also. As you are using CR 2008, I suspect the key would be:
    HKLMSoftwareBusiness ObjectsSuite 12.0Crystal Reports
You will most likely have to add the Export folder, then add the HTML folder, then add the EncodeHTMLForSingleLineFieldObjects and set it to "no".
Please note that this is a hack / workaround found for CR XI r2. The functionality you are looking to exploit was removed for a reason. As such if the above does not work for CR 2008, it will not be considered to be a "bug" and we will not be able to send this to R&D for a resolution.

  • Opening HyperLinked Files contained in a database field Automatically alongwith Crystal Report

    Hi
I am using Crystal Report 2008. We have a database table which has Bill of Material for all the parts, the table also has additional field which contains LINK to PDF File (i.e. c:\PDFFiles\XPart.PDF) which is containing Part specifications. Now i am able to create a Hyperlink from this field and user is able to click on the field to open the file.
Is there a way, that all the associated linked files open automatically whenever a user previews this report.Any help would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Shekhar

You can achieve the desired behavior by adding a UFL (User unction library) that includes a function for triggering and passing parameters ot a different process.
At least one of the 3rd-party UFLs listed at Crystal Reports viewer comparison, Crystal Reports scheduler comparison and other utilities ( viewer and scheduler compa… provides such a function.
You would then be able to add Crystal formulas that result in opening linked documents as a byproduct of previewing the report.

  • No Hyperlink in PDF after export from Crystal Reports 2008 SP2

  • Hyperlinking results of a crystal report to a parameter in another rpt.

We have a requirement  to hyperlink the result values of a field in a crystal report to a parameter in another report that returns the details of that value. Example below:
    Rpt 1. Field:                                   Country
    Values:(as hyperlinks)                     USA
                                                         Germany
                                                         France
So when a user clicks on the hyperlink "USA", report number two containing details for USA opens up like the example below:
    USA,                  Population,          etc...etc....
    North America     350M
The user should not be prompted to enter any parameters in the second report as it is expected to be parsed this from clicking on the value in the first report. The values in the first report are in a group section "country".  We are using Crystal 2008 on a BW query.
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi,
Create a sub report which contains country wise informaiton and insert this report in your group footer.  Now right click on your sub report and go in change sub report links and link your sub reportcountry parameter with your main report country  parameter.
Now it will pass your opendoc parameter value to your sub report parameter and will display results without entring once again coutnry parameter for your sub report.
    Thanks,
    Sastry.
