Hyperlinks in F1 Help

Hello everyone..
We are planning on extracting all F1 help documentation. We have succeeded in extracting the text in the initial page of F1 help. However, in many F1 help initial pages, there are hyperlinks to glossaries and other documents. We were researching if it was possible to extract the text from the hyperlinked page.
Is there a logic in how to interpret the hyperlink tag (i.e. <GL:company_code>) in the F1 help page to find the actual location of that text? (i.e GL tag would reference the SAP Glossary in KM) Once we can identify where the actual text of the hyperlink is, we can extract that text.
Thank you for your help~~
Janet

Hi Sanjeev,

• MUSE Hyperlinks not working - HELP!

I am working on a new design of an existing site in Adobe Muse. I've moved images but not changed them. My internal hyper links from page to page don't work. I've cancelled them and redone the links and still no link. The text boxes - same thing. They show links but don't do anything when previewed in browser or any other method. Much of this (text and images) was used previously on the site and worked. Help!

Please share the site URL. Also, please make sure that there is no other element on the top of objects having hyperlinks.

Hello Experts,
My requirement is to have a hyperlink in the F1 help which will open an external website. I am adding this F1 help to a data element.
For example in the F1 help of BUKRS there is a link to 'company code'. I want such a link to open another webpage.
Please help me on this.
Regards,

Hi Pavan Kumar Kolli
I don't think there is a way to assign web page to data element documentation
but you can do it on selection screen simply using event AT SELECTION-SCREEN ON HELP-REQUEST
Check this code :
REPORT zsample.

AT SELECTION-SCREEN ON HELP-REQUEST FOR p_bukrs.

• Using .pdf file as a hyperlink in AIR help

Hello all,
I am trying to a use a .pdf file as a hyperlink for some topic in AIR help file. When I try to look at my reference(hyperlink), I get a blank screen as a response. I have attached a screenshot as an example. Any help in this regard would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Aditya.

There are some things that only work in an installed AIR help rather than preview, not sure what you are looking at here.
I am not at all clear on how you are trying to use a PDF as a link. Do you mean you have the PDF accessed from the help and the PDF has a link? Please explain.

• Hyperlink to youtube help please.

Anyone out there know how to create a hyperlink to a youtube video and have it NOT go on to youtube? Just play the video on your web page??

The code you want to use is:

You copy it from the Embed field to the right of the flash screen. There's also a cog wheel menu for customizing the code.

• Please Help! I don't know how to get rid of this extension!!

I purchased this mac book pro in the middle of 2014. So it's not even a year old. About 4 months after purchasing I noticed that I started to get pop ups that were opening new tabs. Particularly 'Mackeeper'. I don't know if this is an extension or what, but I have been looking for an answer but can't seem to find one. Every 3rd or 4th click and BOOM another pop-up of either an 'airpurifyer' add or a video game add. It is driving me round the bend! I've now noticed that on webpages, words have started to be hyperlinked. Please help before whatever this is destroys my macbook.

• How can i get browse sequence widgets to follow hyperlinks instead of TOC?

I've created a screen layout based on the standard desktop layout and am using the default browse sequence (back, next) widget buttons included with the layout. Our topics include a number of hyperlinks to other help topics - for example, a dialog box overview topic might include a link to a how to topic for that dialog. I would like the browse sequence buttons to follow the hyperlink paths to the previous and next topics viewed. Right now, they instead go to the previous and next topics in the TOC. Is there a way to modify the properties of the buttons to follow the hyperlinks instead?
Thanks for your help!

I think you are confusing Previous and Next in a browse sequence with Previous and Next as in path followed by the user.
A browse sequence is not necessarily the next item in a TOC. It is whatever you set up, TOC order is a default.
You can have path followed Previous and Next in addition using javascript methods. You will find solutions posted in these forums.

• Hyperlinks not pasting correctly

Hi Ladies & Gents –
I just migrated an excel spreadsheet to numbers, and I'm having trouble posting Numbers-generated hyperlinks into my mail program.
The spreadsheet looks roughly as follows
Name Link Labeled Link
Lions http://blah.com/Lions blah.com
Tigers http://blah.com/Tigers blah.com
Bears http://blah.com/Bears blah.com
The blah.com's in column c are hyperlinks generated with the hyperlink function and looks as such:
=HYPERLINK(B1,"blah.com")
But when I copy and paste these into the mail application, which is what they are generated for, they get paste as just the link text (blah.com) and lose the actual hyperlink.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
– Emerson

It appears that you misunderstood what the function is designed to do.
The HYPERLINK function creates a clickable link that opens a webpage or new email message.
HYPERLINK
(url, link-text)
• url:
A standard universal resource locator. url is a string value that should contain a properly formatted universal resource locator string.
• link-text:
An optional value that specifies the text that appears as a clickable link in the cell. link-text is a string value. If omitted, url is used as the link-text.
If you omit the link-text parameter, the cell value will be the ORL itself so copying will behave as wanted
but if you gave the link-text parameter, the cell value will be this parameter and it's this one which you will get after a copy cell.
To achieve what you are trying to do in both cases, you must copy the "string shaped as an URL", not the Hyperlink.

• Adding Hyperlink to a Field

Hi,
Newbie here. I'm trying to figure out how to add a hyperlink to a field in a report. There are five fields in the table and I'm trying to allow the user to click on one of the fields to bring up a new report or a page.
I've looked into using srw.set_hyperlink but is having trouble associating the wanted field with the hyperlink. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
<function name="beforereport">
<textSource>
function AfterReport return boolean is begin
SRW.SET_HYPERLINK('#F_FID&<' || LTRIM(TO_CHAR(:F_FID)) || '>');
return (TRUE);
end;
</textSource>
</function>
Do I need to specifically call the function in my jsp?

Its me again. I did a search and found some examples of appending a html a href=... tag in the Select statement. But I'm getting a improperly terminated query error. I believe the error has to do with the single quotes.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Is there any document on protocol for JDBCQuery?
SELECT
'ahref="http://somesite.com"' || f.fid || '/a',
FROM table f
WHERE ...
This query is working fine when I execute it in DBVisualizer.

• InDesign Server crashing on hyperlinks - HYPERLINKS.RPLN

When trying to access properties of a hyperlink it causes InDesign to crash. I can assign properties of the hyperlink but if I try and retrieve properties it hangs and crashes resulting in the error below. I'm using InDesign Server 64bit version 7.0.4.553. What's interesting is this works completely fine when testing using InDesign CS5 client version.
I have used Extend script toolkit to try and debug the issue but you can't even use the databrowser to look at the hyperlink properties as it'll crash there as well. But if I debug using toolkit with client version of InDesign it works fine. It really seems like an issue with InDesign Server and I'm not sure what I can do to work around/fix this problem.
Example script -
var myDoc = app.open([document path]);
for (i = 0; i < myDoc.hyperlinks.length; i++)
var myHyperlink = myDoc.hyperlinks[i];
var newDestination = myHyperlink.destination; // - this causes indesign to crash
//Do some processing...
Faulting application name: InDesignServer.exe, version: 7.0.4.553, time stamp: 0x4d891c6d
Faulting module name: HYPERLINKS.RPLN, version: 7.0.4.553, time stamp: 0x4d891ef9
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x000000000006e33b
Faulting process id: 0x1dfc
Faulting application start time: 0x01ccd52e23e3216c
Faulting application path: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe InDesign CS5 Server x64\InDesignServer.exe
Faulting module path: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe InDesign CS5 Server x64\Required\HYPERLINKS.RPLN
Any help would be great! I can post more information if needed.

I think I may have found the problem...
It appears that the particular document I'm working with has a shared link that is contained in another document (in InDesign if you look at the hyperlink details it is a shared destination and for "document" it specifies a different document then the current one. This would probably happen when the hyperlink is copied from a different document. When trying to access that shared link it is unable to get the properties of it because there is actually no reference to it as the other document isn't open on the server.
This is an interesting problem because I'm not sure where to go with this... I need to be able to get the hyperlink but with the given scenario I can't figure out a way to do that.

• Locate location of hyperlinks in a PDF document

I have a requirement, where I need to be able to location (X,Y coordinates) of hyperlinks in the PDF document. I understand I can convert PDF to text or XML but that does not provide me location of hyperlinks.
Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

Yes, you can create a script in Acrobat that loops through the links and adjusts the link's "rect" property to suit your needs. You'll want to consult the Acrobat JavaScript Reference, and look at the doc.getLinks method in particular: http://livedocs.adobe.com/acrobat_sdk/9.1/Acrobat9_1_HTMLHelp/JS_API_AcroJS.88.479.html
along with the Link object properties: http://livedocs.adobe.com/acrobat_sdk/9.1/Acrobat9_1_HTMLHelp/JS_API_AcroJS.88.802.html
Post again if you get stuck.
I don't know what control you have over this on the InDesign side of things. You may want to ask in one of the InDesign forums if you haven't already.

• Physical location of hyperlinked files when generating printed documentation from webhelp project

Hi,
I produce webhelp and the customers have requested that printed documentation is also generated from my help project so that they can have an electronic/paper version.
I have several hyperlinks in the help project, to PDF/Word files, and have found that in the printed documentation, when you click on the hyperlink, it is trying to find the document in the physical location from which the help project was created. This means that the hyperlinked documents only open on my PC because I own the physical location. Other users, particuarly our customers, end up with an error message because it is trying to find a location they do not have access to.
Does anybody know a solution to this please?

The problem with links inside PDF / Word files is that you have no control over where the files reside. Therefore you can't specify a path that will work as it depends on the physical file's location. What you could do is publish the PDFs / Word files to an online location that are accessible by a URL.
