Hyperlinks in pdf for epub

I created hyperlinks over a graphic frame that had multiple web addresses and phone numbers. When finished, all the weblinks opened to the website and the phone numbers gave me a box about calling the numbers. The problem is once it e-published, only the top link went to a web page. It ignored the remaing web links and phone numbers. Any ideas?
Thank you

I don't believe anything has been invented yet that supports using Actionscript to edit a PDF file.

  • Creating hyperlinks in InDesign for epubs

    Hi everybody,
When I view epub files in Adobe Digital Editions, the hyperlinks I create in InDesign all have a blue underline. The text color, red in this case, appears just fine. The underline is being applied by the epub reader, or so it seems. Is there anyway to eliminate this in InDesign, perhaps using character styles, etc.?
Thanks so much for any help you can provide. I'm using the latest edition of InDesign, CS5.5.
    Kind regards,
    Mark

Well, some do. You'll have to test -- the ADE viewer isn't really designed to give a 100% perfect view of what your document would look like on the real thing.
In any case, there isn't much you can do from within InDesign to prevent it. You would need to edit the CSS (and if you have to ask what it is or where you can find it, you are in real trouble ...) and then there is still this little itty bitty issue that you'd need to check on each of the devices you hope someone is going to view your book on what it really looks like. There is a world of difference between actual CSS support for the current batch of ePub hardware.
On the other hand, you could also take it for granted because everyone is used to seeing something blue and underlined and thinking "hey, I bet it's a hyperlink", and you wouldn't want to disappoint everyone.

...you can move your files in one of the existing physical directories - e.g: d:/icons - and call them with the following:
Web.show_Document('/forms/icons/document.pdf','_blank');But you can also add your own virtual/physical directory:

  • Create desktop link for epub o pdf files?

    Hello,
I would like to create a direct link into the desktop of my iPad to a local file. It could be either PDF or EPUB file (I'd prefer PDF). I didn't manage how to do that? I've just succeed on creating link to webpage.
    Bye
    Giacomo

From what I know you have 3 choices:
    1) Use an app like Goodreader to manage the PDF files, in folders, etc, but not on the desktop.
    2) Use web page(s) to load and read the pdf's with a shortcut on the dessktop.
    3) Use "Fast PDF" app that gives you an iBook-type interface bookshelf for pdf libraries. I think you'll like Fast PDF. I really like it. It's 99 cents.

Do you have the license key with the Windows 7 upgrade disk? If so you should be able to use it to format and reinstall.

  • Is there a way to create a iTunes U feed using .pdf  or .epub files using a Podcast Producer 2 backend?

I'm in the process of creating an iTunes U site for my university.  We are in the process of activating an Xserve running Snow Leopard and Podcast Producer 2 to server as a backend and trying to figure out how to create various workflows and feeds for populating both the Public SIte Manager "public site"  and the authenticated "private site".   So far, I have not found any information regrading how to upload .pdfs or .epub documents using Podcast Composer or Podcast Capture.   Is this possible?

It depends where you extract the file to. If you extract it to your home directory so you can examine it's content, there's no problem -- it's just a static file. If you're extracting it over the existing file (in this case /etc/fstab), then you may end up screwing up permissions/ownership.
I've not experimented with redirection enough to know whether the original file's permissions are preserved.
maybe a chmod fix if needed?
So I am having a problem because it keeps saying fstab might be a file and when I query I do not see the package /file. So help me understand by this similar question.
    This works fine.
    # pacman -S iw wpa_supplicant
but using query does not find any package that resembles iw wpa_supplicant
    # pacman -Q
Nothing in the list resembles the package above. It seems to me I just do not understand repositories (I think that is what these are called).
Is there a good link or article that can clear this up? Also... how can I find out how to query files that contain certain characters in the package name such as lib* or *lib*?

  • Hyperlink in PDF to relative file does not work

I am creating PDFs from Java and the PDF contains a link to a relative file which is distributed along with the PDF. When the link is clicked, the file is opened with the OS default program (written by us). At least that is how it is supposed to work.
How should links to relative files be formatted?

Thanks for the reply Daterson! This could be a nice new feature for Adobe Reader, but our reports are cross format, so this solution should work in HTML as much as it does in PDF.
I think this problem stems from the fact that launching a different application from a hyperlink in PDF is neither secure, nor cross platform. Therefore, I think the support for such an action doesn't exist in PDF, but also in other formats, which we would also like to support.
If anyone comes across a clever idea or technique for this problem, I would love to hear it!

  • Insert hyperlinks in pdf-documents

Since Mavericks you can´t insert hyperlinks in pdf-documents. I miss this option in the preview. Are there any other possibilities?
(I have MS Office for apple, therefore the links get lost, if I convert it to pdf).

No one here can guess what "Apple wants." This is just an end user forum. There are open source alternatives to Pages and Office you may want to research: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-6941
http://www.apple.com/feedback is where you can put your two cents if you so desire to get Apple to consider them.

  • Find hyperlinks in pdf's

How can I find hyperlinks in pdf's? We have an external service which checks hyperlinks in our pdf's but does not tell you the location of them, so I know I may have an invalid link but can't find it. Any help at all would be appreciated

Select the link tool and then the links should become visible.  Of course if they're links that Acrobat makes automatically because it finds a web address you'll have to do a search for www. or http:

  • Hyperlinks in PDF'd word doc

hyeperlinks aren't happening after I PDF a Word doc. I'd be soooo grateful for right answer on this - the hyperlink feature is the whole point for me to have Pro.
    thanks so much.

    There is a PDF Creator
    from Code-Poetry http://www.codepoetry.net/projects/cups-pdf-for-mosx
That will do it.  install. install it and if word has any hyperlinks when you go to Printer:
The will Transfer over with no problem :
Note the two email adresses show in this png one is mine that now goes to a spam dump email address for me.
the other belonged to a cousin but she changed providers so this email address doesn't exist. Plus this a PNG representation and is not clickable
this was a copy of an email that was  was converted to a word document  to be used in a family tree item on my website.
In or to do this in acrobat I actually have to go to advanced menu then choose create to a url, or a  mailto
This Utility actually proves a point, MS has been making about needed information to create URLs and Mailtos are in word Mac and have been all along.

  • Hyperlinks to pdf files not working when project is exported out as SWF and uploaded to server

    hI all
I'm using CS5 and i have hyperlinks to pdf files in my indesign project. However when i export to SWF, although the links work locally, they do not work when i upload all the relevant folders and files and test it from a server the links to the pdfs can not be found, the error messages indicates its looking for the files on my hard drive. I have also noticed that if i copy all the relevant folders and files and exported swf to a different directory and then launch swf from there the links do not work there either.
Other than seperately uploading each pdf indvidually on to the server and then creating a hyperlink to it from the local indesign project i don't know what else to do.
    Any advice much appreciated.

I have your same problem, but didn't consider uploading the PDFs and then linking to them. I'm willing to try it. Let me know if you ever found a better way, ok?
    Thanks.

  • PDF for Web & Mobile Devices?

    Hey There,
My boss and I recently attended an Expo for CS 5.5 and were blown away by all the new animations features for Web. We however are not in the business of creating web books, we only wanted to create a dynamic PDF for our website and then also for mobile devices like iPads, etc. However, we've discovered the animation is all Flash based and therefore useless for mobile devices. Is there any way around that? What is your suggestion for exporting useful PDFs for Web and Mobile Devices?

There’s a big difference in what you want, Joel and what the OP asked for.
For plain old vanilla PDF, you should be fine, but the OP is worried about people needing to download something for EPUB when in reality that’s less of an issue than PDF.
There are no stock PDF readers on many tablets and the ones that are there have limited or no interactive capabilities and the better ones like GoodReader are not free.
BTW, I’m not suggesting EPUB as a replacement but without seeing the actual documents in question and knowing the audience and budget, I really can’t give you a better answer.

Thanks for your help in advance.

  • Hyperlinks to PDF files only work in Preview

I cannot get any of my hyperlinks to PDF files to work in my
ouput WebHelp file. The links work fine in Preview, but not in the
actual output. And the files have been added to the baggage folder,
and can be seen in the Baggage folder. Any help would be greatly
    appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Hi Retso
Sorry for not replying earlier. I've been conducting a
    RoboHelp HTML class all day.
Are you using RoboHelp HTML 6? If so, there is a new option
labeled "Mark of the web" that could be nailing you. When you
generate your WebHelp by double-clicking the layout, see if this
option is enabled. If so, disable it and your PDF links should
begin working. Note, however, that by DE-selecting this option, you
could start seeing the Yellow Information bar as Internet Explorer
ever so helpfully deems this as a security threat and blocks your
WebHelp until you click it and allow the content to be shown.
    Cheers... Rick
