Hyperlinks in word documents in chrome on Mac not opening

Hello
We have word documents with hyperlinks throughout. We have it set to Use the server default (Open in the browser).
For our Mac users, they open fine on the first page in Mozilla but the second page and thereafter they are not clickable.
In chrome they don't open at all.
Can you please advise what to do?
Thank you.
Mel

Hi
You cannot save a file that includes a hyperlink
A document that has a hyperlink that includes non-Latin characters, a shape, or is otherwise corrupted, might prevent you from saving or editing the hyperlink. To work around the issue, delete the object that you added the hyperlink to.

  • Word document created by Workflows do not open

We are using Sharepoint Online (2013 version) and sharepoint Designer 2013
We have a requirement by which we would like to update a 'Word template' with the metadata information from a Document Set.  A word document is created after the workflow executes, but the
    created document is corrupt.
It does not open in Word Web App and when I open it using Word, I get errors.
I have Word 2010 installed on my machine. Can this be some kind of incompatibility?
I was going through some threads in this forum and noticed that this problem has been reported before also.
Is this some kind of a known issue when creating documents using Designer workflows?
What will be the alternate solution to meet this requirement
Any suggestions in this regard would be helpful
    Regards,
    Maneesh Agrawal

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that the word documents created by workflow could not open.
Did the issue occur in other libraries? You can create a new workflow, then check whether it works.
You can also use the Copy item action for a workaround.
Here is what you can try.
    1. Have your template in a folder that is hidden from your views.
    2. Copy the template file with a name of your choice using "Copy list item" action
    3. Use "Update List Item" action to change the properties.

As this is the forum for the SharePoint server, I’m not familiar with the SharePoint online.
For this issue, you can also post your question to the forum for SharePoint Online:
    http://community.office365.com/en-us/forums/154.aspx.
More experts will assist you, then you will get more information relation to SharePoint Online.
Thank you for your understanding and support

  • HT4993 I am unable to open word attachments from my work email ever since I bought the 5c. The word documents just flutters but will not open

I am unable to open word documents as attachments from my 5c. I never had the problem with the 4s. Is it something in the settings?

None of the suggested work-arounds to open the file (such as from within Word) will work.
Since you didn't describe "the suggested work-arounds" I can only guess whether you've tried this, but in that message there should be a paperclip icon on the left at the bottom of the header. If you drag that icon onto your computer's Desktop, you should see the attachment(s) there. Can you open them by double-clicking?

Uhhhhh... Thank GOD... Got all of my files.
Spent some time on the phone with Apple Care... who was great to deal with but actually... not as helpful as I was hoping. It was suggested that I try DiskWarrior 4 to try to recover the files. $108 later, I had no files.
More calls with Apple Care and they were pretty sure that everything was gone since once the External drive was installed, like a moron, I let TimeMachine go ahead and back up my new MacBook... so it overwrote who knows how many gig that was my entire MacBook.
I wasn't giving up so I called Maxtor, the manufacturer of the external drive itself. They suggested file recovery software from I365... which is also a Seagate company (the makers of the drive). The suggested I simply use their demo because the demo version would find the files. If it found them, I could buy the software to restore them.
It found them! Another $129 after and I was able to restore all of them back to my old PC laptop.
NOW, I just need to figure out how to get the 50gig of HD video files off of my old laptop now and into my Mac and IMovie so I can actually make some DVDs out of them!
I get that Macs and PCs are different formats but I think it is ridiculous that formatting still means basically just wiping out or at least treating massive lots of old data as if it isn't there. There's gotta be a better way to do that.

  • When I try to open a word document it says I do not have enough disk space

When I try to open a word document it says I do not have enough disk space. I have Word 2004 and the document has a doc.x on it.

Mac users using Word 2004 who receive a Word 2008 for Mac, (or Word 2007 for Windows) document, will not be able to read this without having the Open XML Converter installed, which can be downloaded from Microsoft.
    Go to this page:
    http://www.microsoft.com/mac/downloads.mspx
and click on the right under Most Popular, 'Open XML File Format Converter for Mac 1.0.2'
This opens a window at the bottom of the page. Scroll that to the bottom and click on English.dmg, and it will download for you as a disk image, which can be installed in the usual way.
After installation you can open and read .xml formatted Word 2008 documents in Word 2004.
Update: This link  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/976831  takes you to a newer version 1.1.3 (released Nov 10, 2009).

  • How can I get back my Word docs now that Pages will not open them?

How can I retrieve my Word docs now that Pages will not open them in Mavericks.  I have a brand new iMac with my evolving manuscript for a book transsferred from my now defunct MacBook Pro by external drive.  Pages tells me that "PowerPC apps are "no longer supported" and Mavericks will not open Microsoft Office, though it is still in Applications.  Would really appreciate ANY help!

You will have to have an app that will open them first, you can upgrade to Office for Mac 2011 which is an Intel based app then open the docs and retry. Your docs were created with extremely old version of Office for Mac, version 2004!
Another possiblity is  using a web based compatible MS Office for Mac app and see if it will open your doc and then save it, then attempt to re-open in Pages.

Pages app unexpectedly quit whilst I was in the middle of a document. I can now not open it AT ALL. I find it's not just that particular document that won't open, but any of my Pages docs will not open using the current version of Pages. The reports of the app unexpectedly closing each time, automatically went to Apple, but I am not sure what happens with them then. Does anyone know how to help me with this? We live in a very isolated region so rely on internet help. Thanks

I also managed to read a few other discussions about Pages and files not being able to open. I actually went to the last back-up and restored the computer from that and everything seemed to work ok again, which is great!...advice from another discussion I think you may have been involved in PeterB. Thanks for the advice...also this advice, as I will make a note of trying to open using the Shift key if it happens again and see what happens...might be an easier first option than restoring from a back-up. Thans heaps for the help!
I was interested to read some of the other discussions where it was stated that Pages '09 seems to be a better option to use. I have both installed, so I will lkeep this in mind. Thanks heaps!

Have recently updated Adobe Reader and now unable to open downloaded documents - Message received is could not open 'file name.pdf' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded). When I check the file it shows Zero KB downloaded but the file appears - any suggestions?

Obviously your download was not successful.
What is your operating system?  How exactly do you download such files?

  • Can You Preserve Web Hyperlinks in Word Document?

I am using Acrobat 9.3 Pro for the Mac running OS 10.5.8.
I have Microsoft Word documents with embedded hyperlinks to web pages (i.e., clicking in Word on "here" sends the reader to a web site.)
I would like to create a pdf from documents like this so that when you click on the word "here" you go to the web site.
Presently, the pdf is blue and underlined, but the link does not carry forward from Word to Acrobat.  This results whether I print using the "PDF" dialog box or whether I print using the "Acrobat PDF 9.0" selection among my printers.
I know I can go back and re-create the links using the links tool, and it will work if I type in the full web address.  I am simply hoping there is something I can do to avoid either of these workarounds.
Can anyone suggest anything?  This would seem to be a fairly simple feature to implement, so I'm probably missing something.

Unfortunately, that option isn't available in Word on a Mac. Windows only.
I'm not sure how hard it would be to implement but I assume it's not that easy since people have been begging for it for years.
If you were using InDesign, it can be done (using the InDesign Export to PDF function) but just not in Word.

  • Hyperlink to Word document on network drive

I am setting up a webpage for internal use only. The purpose
is for easy navigation for Policies and Procedures. I am using an
Accordion widget for ease of use. The problem is I can't get the
hyperlinks to open up the Word documents on the network drive.
    The hyperlinks look as follows:
    <a href="file:///G|/1~CBCHS POLICIES &amp;
    PROCEDURES/Section 1~Introduction.doc">2.1.1 Hazard
Identification, Risk Assessment &amp; Control Plan
    Formset</a>
A quick mock up of what I want can be seen here:

UPDATE - Works in IE 7 but not Firefox!

Try removing all spaces from the filename and link to it

  • Hyperlinking across Word documents into RoboHelp

I hope this is in the right forum ...
I author documentation in Microsoft Word and then import into RoboHelp HTML (v11 & generating in the Multiscreen HTML5 layout).
I have multiple word documents and a lot of hyperlink in those word documents.
Some documents have hyperlinks that reference locations in different documents.
At the moment, when I import Word documents, the hyperlinks that reference locations in a different document break (dont work) which causes a great deal of work for me to find and fix.
Is it possible to have a hyperlink in Document A link to a spot in Document B and have it stil work after the documents have been imported?

In short, no there isn't Kate. When a Word file is imported, the content is built into one or more .HTM files. The link in the word file at the point it is converted may not know what file name will be created, especially if the referenced section comes after the link.
