Hyperlinks incomplete using mail os x

When I send people hyperlinks via e-mail I get complaints from them than only half of the link os treated as a link and they often have to resort to cutting & pasting the links to get them to work.
When I look at my sent e-mails the links are complete, is it just a problem at their end as they are windows users mainly using OE Express & Outlook.

The text editor is the text area that you use on the webmail (Yahoo, Hotmail) website to create a new mail.
You can compare that with the ''Post new message'' text area that you use to create a new post on this forum.
Just above the text area that you use to enter the message text there is usually a button bar with buttons that allows some text formatting like Bold and Italic and can also include a button to make a clickable hyperlink.
Check the tooltip of each button by hovering with the mouse over each button.

  • Hyperlinks in e-mails and word documents no longer open a window

My Firefox was recently was upgraded (not my choice - you just did it) and now when I click on hyperlinks in e-mails (I use Entourage) and word documents the screen acts like it's getting ready to take me to a new window in Firefox but then nothing happens. I want this functionality restored, especially since many links do not spell out the web site.

Why would I reply to my own posting??!!

  • Can't open  links/hyperlinks in my mails....

Maybe its not the right forum, but I havn't been able to find help elsewhere. I'm using Outlook for Mac 2011 but can't open  links/hyperlinks in my mails. The cursor turns into a hand as expected, but nothing happens when I try to activate the link. My default browser is Safari. Please help if anyone can..

    Hi janjkp,
I don't use Outlook so I cannot test anything here.
Is Outlook the only application that this occurs?
If it is only Outlook, I would suggest that its a setting or bug in Outlook causing the issue.
Instead of just clicking on the link, try Command (or right) Click and see if there is an 'Open Link' or 'Open URL' selection in the contextual menu.
If you can open the link that way, see if there is a setting in the preferences in Outlook that stops links being opened.
    Hope this helps

  • Insert an hyperlink in a mail text but the URL is too long (more than 255)

    Hi to all,
I was asked to insert an hyperlink in a mail text. I was  thinking to use '<A href =" ' command . I'm usin BSC interface but my problem is that the internal table in wich I'm loading the body message is 255 character while the URL i'm trying to include in the e-mail si too long . Any fast solution ?
    Thanks
    Andrew

You don't need to put the entire anchor tag contents on one line in the table before you append it to the body contents.  The reading application (Outlook, etc.) knows the entire tag contents based on the open/close of the tag.  I often chunk up my anchor tags like that via text elements so they're easier to read in the code.  Though you can't really see it, this is an anchor tag:
      begin_table 0.
      begin_row.
      begin_cell 100.
      gs_email_contents-line = text-s03.
      append_content.
      gs_email_contents-line = text-s04.
      append_content.
      gs_email_contents-line = text-s05.
      append_content.
      end_cell.
      end_row.
      end_table.

  • Have entrourage and want to use Mail. Can't get it to work.

I had a macbook and purchased the Microsoft office for Mac which included Entrourage.
I have now purchased a new macbook Pro and want to begin to use Mail rather than Entrourage.
I have Entrourage on my new computer but i can't get it to transfer my information to the the Mail program
I am on Charter.net at my office and sbcglobal.net at home.
How can i get this to work.  I can receive on Mail, but i can't send.

check your outgoing port settings and make sure it's using a specific port and not the default port, also you might want to check to see if it is using SSL, TLS or any other encryption.  Verify the setting from your old machine setup.

  • Why can I no longer send email from my Hotmail SMTP account using Mail?

I can no longer send email from my Hotmail SMTP account using Mail. The connection doctor says it can't connect to the SMTP server. All the settings look to be correct and it was working fine before. I can still email using my iPhone with the same account.

Other may post it is some type of change with your ISP but the simple fact is this happen with Apple Mac Mail all the time.
IMHO Mac Mail is one of, if not the, worst mail program ever written.
Do yourself a big favor and start using some other mail program, any other Mail program.

  • On 10.4.11 Mac Mail I get this: Mail cannot update your mailboxes because your home directory is full. You must free up space in your home folder before using Mail. Delete unnedded documents or move documents to another volume. I can't open mail.

On 10.4.11 iMac Mac Mail I get this message: "Mail cannot update your mailboxes because your home directory is full. You must free up space in your home folder before using Mail. Delete unneeded documents or move documents to another volume." I can't open mail to do this. I have reinstalled software but no effect. How do I get into Mail to delete?

Found this on the "more like this" Worked like a charm!
With the Mail.app quit and using the Finder, go to Home > Library > Mail. Copy the Mail folder and place the copy on the Desktop for backup purposes.
Go to Home > Library > Mail > Envelope Index. Move the Envelope Index file to the Desktop.
Launch Mail and you will be prompted to import mailboxes. Select OK and allow the import process to complete.
After confirming all mailboxes were successfully imported and available, you can delete the copy of the Mail folder and old Envelope Index file from the Desktop and this should resolve the problem.

  • I am using Mail with OS 10.9.1...I used to be able to drag and drop contact addresses from my address book to an e-mail header.  Now I have to type all the names and can't drag and drop.  Is there a setting for this?  Thanks!

I am using Mail with OS 10.9.1.  I used to be able drag and drop names from my address book into the address header, but can no longer do that.  I now have to type each name in.  Does anyone know if there is a setting for this or is it a feature of the updated software?  Thanks for any info!

Yes, that appears how Mavericks works right now. However, you can open the Address Panel, select all your contacts, then click the To (or CC, or Bcc) buttons to move the selection to the address field.
If it is not already in the Toolbar, right-click on the Toolbar and select Customize Toolbar…
Then, drag the address panel up to wherever you want it.
You may also want to add it to the New Message window in the same way.

  • How do I use Mail (same setup) on two computers?

I have a MacMini and a MacBook; both are running MtnLion 10.8.5.  The mini is my main computer. I used to have Snow Leopard on both.  When I traveled, I would copy my Mail folder and mail plist file to my Macbook and I was able to check/use Mail with my Macbook away from home.  When I was back and ready to use my mini, I would reverse the copy and viola I was ready to go.  (I easily connect the two wirelessly and easily copy files to and from. I don't have any issues with that part.)
(I am thinking the first thing most people think is, no worries because of imap and icloud and other clouds, etc.  I use POP and I don't use iclouds, imaps, or other clouds.  Even if I did, there would still be the fact that I save emails in folders on my computer.  I have tried imap, and I personally do not care for it.  I like and use pop.)
Now, with both having MtnLion, it seems more complicated.  I think of have found most of the files, even the ones located in different places.  There are more places now and more to remember and copy.  I think I got the macbook ready to go, but was thinking perhaps there is an easier way.
Does anyone know a less complicated way to do what I am needing??
I just want a way to copy all settings and mail to and from my MacMini and my MacBook.
If there is not another way to do this, does someone have a complete checklist of what files and folders should be copied??  That would also be helpful.
    Thank you.

thank you dianeoforegon for your post.
My library folder was not hidden. I know how to find the files and folders, only want to make sure I get them all.  I upgraded to MtnLion months ago, just have not used my macbook for mail.  Last time was when they both had SnowLeopard.  Where the OS keeps all the files is different and there are more files/folders for Mail.  Some are in ~/library/mail  but some are in ~/library/containers/.…  too.  This is a new spot.  It took me a while to locate some of the spots.  It used to be just copy "Mail" "Mail Downloads" and the plist file.  It's not quite like that now.  I even found some in /Library/...  (this is not the user "library" folder, but the computer Library folder).
Anyway, I just wanted some other way of "Copying" my Mail and Settings.  Not "transferring" my mail (like to a new system).  I want to copy it all and then use it.  Then copy it back with any changes and use it from there.
Sorry if I am not explaining it very well.  I don't know what to call it!!
