Hyperlinks to external URL not working

Hi folks.  I exported a CS4 indb to epub, opened it with Digital Editions, and clicked on a hyperlink.  The link activates my browser, but does not go to the actual page.   It just brings my browser to the front and displays whatever page was previously there.  It is not opening in a new tab  or in another window that is in the background.  So, as a test, I exported one of the book's indd files to pdf and clicked on the hyperlink.  This worked fine, it activated my browser AND displayed the correct page.  Any thoughts how to get Digital Editions to go directly to the URL, not just merely switch to the browser which shows whatever page was last opened?  Thanks!

Also, just tested it in Calibre, and it worked.  Looks like a Digital Editions issue.

  • Hyperlinks to external sites not working

    I made a few changes to my web site and re-published it. Now, some of the hyperlinks aren't working after the site is published (they all work while I am still in iWeb).
    The hyperlinks that are working are the ones that connect to documents; the live link to my email address is working, as well. The hyperlinks that are not working are the links to external web sites such as pages of various organizations. They were all working as recently as two days ago. I re-published the site a few times, doing both a "publish site changes" and "publish entire site." No luck either way. Any ideas?

    I had the same problem and I found no solution -- only an "empirical" solution. I am 100% positive that the links were working until few days ago; then I republished and lost some links. Here is what happened: some images or other objects with other links "overlap" the objects with the links, and so you cannot use them any longer. Unfortunately, you do not see it from within iWeb, because there everything works fine.
    Try to take your objects with links, move them somewhere else on the page, put them on front, republish, and see if they work (maybe you want to make a copy of your original page first). If they do, look at what objects are close to the ones that do not work, try to resize them or reposition them, put your original object back and see if you are lucky when you republish the site.

  • Hyperlinks (to URL) not working in MOS

    Hi, I have a multistate objets in which I have an image as an hyperlink to an URL in each state but they are not working. Could someone tell me what i'm doing wrong? Thank you

    I'm not sure how some of the links in one of my notes were created.
    My thinkng is that there are many applications that can make the determination that something that starts with http:// or https:// can be made to behave as a hyperlink
    I do know that I did not purposely create a hyperlink and then paste it into my note.
    Also, the only time that I receive the Open URL option in the services is when I select text.  E.G  if i have text in my Note like  jguitar.com  and I select the text and then choose Notes > Services, the Open URL option appears and the link will open.  If I select the word jguitar all by itself/alone, the option doesn't appear, so the application can tell if it is a possible choice for opening a URL.
    Something isn't quite adding up......

  • External links not work

    Hello,
    I have a word document that has external links. Text that
    links to other page or other url.
    When I convert my doc (word document) into a swf using flash
    paper 2 the links not work. There are still highlighted but no
    linking is taking place.
    please help me.
    Thanks
    Alejandro

    I am having the same problem. At first I thought it was
    because I had converted an excel file but I tried the same
    information from a word document and the links do not work in the
    browser or if I view the SWF file separately. Additionally, when I
    convert the word file to a pdf none of the hyperlinks to pages or
    documents work but the links to email addresses do.

  • Hyperlink to iWeb Page not working

    I have created an iWeb page. I have a hyperlink to the page on a document. The hyperlink takes me to a mobile me error page ie "We can't find the page you requested. Please make sure the URL is spelled and capitalized correctly, and try again."
    Yet if I copy and paste the exact same url I have entered in the hyperlink filed into the address bar on Safari it goes to the right page no problems.
    Any ideas please?

    Is that the page you're trying to link to in the PDF document?
    I was able to place a hyperlink in an rtfd text file and and Word 2008 document to your web page that works. The link in the Word document takes about 5 to 7 seconds to get to Safari and open the Page. The rtfd document, created with Bean
    Bean, a great, free word processor, opens the page in Safari almost immediately.
    In Work I used the Insert ➙ Hyperlink menu option and entered the URL of you page and the text to use as the link. For the Bean document I clicked and dragged the link title at the top of your web page onto the Bean page and saved as a rtfd formatted file. If the page is saved as a plain text document the hyperlink is lost.
    Click to view full size
    If I do a Print ➙ PDF ➙ Save as PDF from Bean I get a working link in the resulting PDF file. But with Word the link does not work.

  • Hyperlinks within .pdf documents not working IMac Safari

    I am working with a website that displays several .pdf documents. The documents contain hyperlinks to urls. Everything works fine in other browsers, but in Safari, these hyperlinks do not work. The cursor does not change when it enters the hyperlink space, and nothing happens if the link is clicked. I am using an IMac running OS 10.6. 8 and Safari 5.1.10. I have tried both the native (Preview) option and a plug-in. Neither makes any difference. Can anyone suggest a fix other than abandoning Safari?

    I am a new user to OnLINE Adobe. My hyperlinks from Word
    documents do not transfer to the PDF files. Please help!!!

  • Link to URL not working in RH X5

    Good morning,
    A client asked me to include a hyperlink to an internal site of theirs.  After I gave them the WebHelp, they said the link doesn't work (I can't test it here as I work offsite without access to their intranet).  They said there is a space missing which would account for it not working.  The problem is I copied and pasted the URL into the project from the client's email.  Here is the URL copied from the client's email to me - you can see the 2 spaces between ACH and Forms.  :
    http://sharepoint.myfirstnet.com/TreasuryManagement/ACH%20%20Forms/Product%20Information/T raining/ACH_SEC%20Explained.doc
    When I right-click on the link in my topic and check the link properties and when I look at the code on the True Code tab, I can see the 2 spaces (not the code for the spaces, of course, but you can tell there is an extra space) so assumed all was well. Yet on the client's end there is only a single space.  And if I copy the link from the True Code tab in RH and past it here, for example, or into an email, it comes out like this:
    http://sharepoint.myfirstnet.com/TreasuryManagement/ACH Forms/Product Information/Training/ACH_SEC Explained.doc
    The double space has been replaced with a single space.  I can't explain how or why that would be changed after I put in the hyperlink.  Is there something about HTML or RH in particular that doesn't allow double spaces so removes one?
    Thanks for any help.
    Diane

    Have you tried %20%20 in the code rather than spaces?
    Just a guess.
    See if that works in RoboHelp's viewer.

  • Dynamic URL not working in email

    I have a question on dynamic URL. In my report I have a help image which has hyperlink (when you click on the image which will take you to a help PDF file on the SharePoint) . This hyperlink is working fine in the browser but when I email the report
    my Hyperlink is not working as there will be no server name to dynamically pick up in the email. I am using Java Script can any one tell me how can I make my dynamic hyperlink work in the email without hardcoding the URL.
    My current URL:
    =”javascript:void(window.open(‘http://’+window.location.hostname+%20′/Library/Reports/Report%20Test.pdf’,'popup’,'target=_blank,resizable=1,toolbar=0,menubar=0,location=0′))”
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Ranjith,
    Based on my test, javascript URL cannot work when we email report use MHTML format. However, it is fine when we view the email in a web browser. If we are use original URL, it is work fine no matter which format we are use. Please try to use original URL
    in the report to check if the issue is persist.
    If the issue is persist, please clarify the render format of the subscription. It is benefit for us to do further analysis.

However, most of the other users use IE6.0 and seems not able to access this URL. So some tried using IE 7.0 and worked fine for some time. But, the problem persisted very often as few can and others cannot.
    Can anybody tell me what could be the problem or should I be modifying any files in weblogic server.
    This is working pretty fine in testing environement.

    Thank you very much for the hint, though I have not tried your suggestion. I tried a little more and found the following way might be simpler - using "java.url.*" and "java.io.*". Just a simple test:
    ============================
    URL url=new URL("ftp://usrname:password@hostname/localDirectory/filename.txt");
    InputStream is=url.openStream();
    BufferedReader in=new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(is));
    String line;
    while((line=in.readLine()) !=null) { System.out.println(line);
    ==========================================
    Of course, other data format would work in a similar way.

  • IPhone 6 External Mic not working for Siri/Dictation

    I am finding that the external mic on my iPhone 6 works for phone calls and voice memos, but does not work for Siri/Dictation.  When I plug in the earbuds, they work for everything (including Siri/Dictation).
    Was chatting to Apple support who had me reset all settings.  I thought that worked, but realized that after a reset, Siri is off and I was talking to "Voice control" (which works).  When I turned Siri back on, it does not work.
    I have two questions for the community to see if you can help:
    1- I have been assuming this must be a software problem since the mic does work for non-Siri access.  But is that true?  Is there a hardware component that Siri depends on which could be faulty here?
    2- If it is software, what action should I try to address it?  I have done a reset all settings already and that did not help.

    Hi, everyone.  I talked to Apple Genius at Apple Store last week, she said it should be a software issue and I needed to reset my iphone 6 plus as a new device and I can not use the backup restore from my iCloud, it was because the microphone bug or glitch can be in the backup also. Ok, followed her advice, erased all contents and set my iphone as a new device , the microphone worked for an hour, but went bad again.  I used "voice memo" app from Apple to test the microphone. It is the best tool since it doesn't involve any provider's network and it doesn't need another person's phone to listen and test.  If you can hear your voice recording clearly, then the mic works.  I tested it 3-4 times a day for a few days now, half of the time the mic doesn't work.  So, set as a new device isn't working. The issue is intermittent and it comes and goes as it likes, so very annoying. I carry my Apple EarPods with me in these past few days ust in case I need to make important phone calls.  Will need to go back to Apple Genius this weekend for sure.  Will give update after the weekend.

  • External Display not working (descriptive details in post)

    Hello
    Background:
    I have been using a black Macbook (last year's model - before the aluminum ones came out) and connecting it to a VIZIO VW22L HDTV10T (television/monitor) via a mini-DVI to VGA adapter.
    This setup always worked, although it was a bit finicky (I'd have to plug it in before closing the display to get in to work in clamshell mode, for example). I get the feeling from reading other forum posts that this is the normal case, though (which so far has been my only real gripe with OS X).
    Anyway, back a couple months ago I wondered if this finicky-ness was partially caused by a messed-up preference file, so I decided to try and fix this. In the ensuing tweaking, I somehow caused my Display preferences to disappear.
    After much effort trying to fix the problem, I eventually called Apple support, which ultimately recommended that I reinstall OS X. I didn't do that, and continued to work at the problem. I eventually was able to bring it back by going into my Time Machine backups and restoring all the Display preference files (I used old preferences from back when I got the external HD, so I knew they'd be "uncorrupted). However, now I'm having problems with my external display, namely that it is not working.
    This problem started early this year, so it might have been caused by the 10.5.5 update, but since I had all these other problems going on, I'm not sure if that was the case.
    Problem:
    The Macbook doesn't seem to recognize the display, or is having problems routing video to the display, or something.
    If I plug the display into the Macbook while it is running normally, the Macbook LCD will flash blue (like it picked up a new display), but them come back to normal. The monitor will go out of sleep mode for a second, but then display a "No signal" message. If I attempt to "Detect Displays" the Macbook screen will either flash blue (as before) or just do nothing.
    If I have the display plugged in when I start up the Macbook, everything will proceed as normal until the time the desktop would be displayed. Instead of this, I just see a blue screen (like some generic desktop before any background is applied). The menu bar, the dock, and icons do not show up. However, I can hear various audio cues telling me the computer is running fine except for htis problem (email notifier going off, etc.).
    I know the problem is not faulty hardware, because when I boot my Macbook into Windows, everything works perfectly. It therefore follows that it is an OS X problem. I downloaded both Cocktail and Applejack and run various repairs on them (most notable repairing preferences), but nothing has changed.
    Any suggestions about how to try fixing this? If there's any technical detail I've missed, let me know.
    Thank you in advance to everyone who tries to help.
    -Richard

    I have same problem. MacBook Pro (new, 2014) upgraded to Yosemite. Had been running with ViewPoint high-resolution, 27" monitor, HDMI. I tried Thunderbolt connection -- it connected, but it would not allow the external monitor to run at its native resolution (2560x1440). It would only display properly using HDMI. Just 3 days ago after I installed the latest OSx software update, and my external monitor problems started. On startup, my MacBook screen flickers non-stop. I can fix problem eventually (after several tries) by disconnecting the HDMI cable, turning OFF the external monitor power, turning external monitor back ON and then plugging in the HDMI to my MacBook Pro. This is very inconvenient.
    I will try using the Thunderbolt cable. When I tried it in the past, it connected, but it wouldn't display the native resolution of my external monitor (which is 2560x1440). Can only get this resolution now with HDMI.

  • Web Cache 'Ping URL' not working.

    Hi,
    I have recently installed a Webcache clustered pair which sit in front of OHS which reverse proxys back to OUCM/Web Logic, my OWC version is 11.1.1.2 and am looking for some clarification of how the Ping URL actually works in Web Cache.
    When OHS is shutdown, Webcache detects the service is down and prevents it from servicing requests, however it will not mark the service as down when I intentionally set ping URL to a page that does not exist generating a 404, will Ping URL polling only mark a server as being down if a 500 error is generated?
    Something else I would like clarification of is 'Ping Interval', I have set this to be aggressive at '1' however I do not see any polling traffic or see any hits in OHS log that indicate polling of the Ping URL is taking place.
    Thanks in advance,
    Mark.

    Not sure I need any update to this now, I've just read through the help section 'help/edit_add_appserver.htm' and can see that a 404 is not considered a failure and also that the server only starts to poll when the failover threshold has been reached.
    This would explain why the server was not being marked as down, although I'm still not sure why I do not see the polling traffic in Apache logs but I can live with that :)
    Cheers,
    Mark.

  • External drive not working on iMac, but works on Macbook Pro

    I have read a few different threads relating to this question, with no real luck of a permanent solution.
    I have an external drive that works perfectly on my Macbook Pro. My new iMac will not show the drive though (both with the current software).
    The drive itself shows a power light and appears to be running/powered by the USB port.
    I have tried several ports.
    It does not show in Disk Utility.
    The option in settings is set to show the drive in finder and on the desktop (I have checked this).
    I have tried restarting the iMac.
    I have also had this problem after the iMac has been turned off overnight, and turned on in the morning (and then plugging the drive in after powering on).
    I resolved this issue once by turning off the iMac, removing the power cord for a few minutes, and powering it up again.
    I don't think it should be something I have to do every time I would like to use the drive though - It would be very irritating if I had to do that every time.
    Any advice or options here?
    The iMac has only been used since Christmas day, 2014 - and has had this problem since that day (in which i solved it by the turn off/unplug thing).
    Sorry, I am aware this question has been asked a lot. I haven't come across anything that is giving me a long-term solution to this problem.
    Happy new year!

    Some USB-powered drives are just crappy. They require too much current from the USB and cause the bus to fail or the bus can't provide enough power for it to fully spin up. You can often hear or feel them clicking periodically (like once a second) as they are trying to spin up.
    If this is the case, a powered Hub, external power supply, or Y-cable will be necessary to consistently use the drive.
