Hypertext for Reader in Android

I was surprised to find that Reader for Android does not support hypertext links - specifically mailto: like the windows version does.  I keep a directory for a group that includes links for email addresses making sending emails from the directory very convenient.  When the other PDF readers that came with my Galaxy S4 would support the hyperlink - I sought out Acrobat reader for Android and was elated to find it exists - and then disappointed to find that it does support hypertext either.  I had hope to find that was also a link I could put behind the phone numbers to place a call - ie: CALL: - That would really be a nice feature for PDFs on a smart phone - but sadly no.
I think this would be really great functionality with many many uses.
Thank-you

Getting one of the latest devices would obviously give you the best performance, but any device which supports Android 4 or above should be good enough.

  • Javascript won't work - JavaScript for Reader Mobile API Reference (Android)

I have created a Form with the new Adobe Acrobat Pro DC (trial version).
The Javascript code just won't work on a mobile phone.
Doc - JavaScript for Reader Mobile API Reference (Android this shows that what I want to do is supported.
But not even the simplest command will work on my phone. (I am using Adobe Acrobat DC - PDF reader for Android)
Any suggestions of what I could be doing wrong?
    Best,
    Menno

A Doc.getField() should work.. Try small steps: Create a document with two fields (e.g. Text1 and Text2), then create a custom calculation script for Text2 that uses the following code:
    event.value = this.getField("Text1").value;
Does this copy the data you enter in Text1 to Text2?
Then, add a third field ("Text3") and a button with the following MouseUp JavaScript action:
    this.getField("Text3").value = this.getField("Text1").value;
Does this work? It actually works for me. To save you some work, here is a link to the test file I've used: http://khkonsulting.com/files/AUC/AndroidTest.pdf

  • Adobe Reader for iOS and Android & Rights Management

This week's release of Reader for iOS and Android devices incorporates support for accessing files secured by Adobe LiveCycle Rights Management.
As you are probably familiar, LiveCycle Rights Management protects sensitive documents by encrypting them with industry-standard AES encryption and enabling central management of their access permissions. Protections persist even when documents are accidentally distributed via email, the cloud, or saved on a lost mobile device.
Many of the core capabilities that you are used to on the desktop versions of Acrobat and Reader are now supported when you are on the go on your tablet or mobile phone. We intend to incorporate additional functionality in future releases of these mobile devices and look forward to your feedback.
We've had several questions thus far about how this works. More information about the product, as well as a link to an FAQ can be found at:http://blogs.adobe.com/security/2011/10/just-released-adobe-reader-10- 1-for-ios-and-android.html

    Hello Jonathan,
is there an way to trigger iOS download to immediately open using "Adobe Reader"
instead of using the default Previewer (showing an plain empty white window) and then re-open it using "Open with" ?
Is there an MIME-Type to indicate IRM-protected PDF-files?
    Thanks,

  • Does Adobe Reader for iOS and Android Support Encryption with PKI Solution?

    Hello there,
I have been searching for an answer whether or not Adobe Reader for iOS and Android can read encrypted PDF files by public key infrastructure solution (encrypted by a public key, to be decrypted by its private key pair), but to date I have not found the answer.  From the Adobe web site, I understand that Adobe Reader for Android supports to read encrypted document by AES256 but it does not mention about PKI.  I had to guess that it does not support encryption with PKI but I would just like to get a formal answer, and would like to know whether Adobe Reader Mobile will support it.
    Thanks!
    Masaya

    Hi there,
Now we have Acrobat DC Mobile but I am still wondering if encryption/description using PKI solution (digital certificates) is supported.  Could anyone let me know?  Thank you.

  • Reader for Motorola Xoom - Android 3.0

We have chosen the Motorola Xoom as our tablet of choice for our
Board of Directors.  Major problem: we cannot install Adober Reader on it. The Android Market says "This item is not compatible with your device".
Please make the Reader available to 3.0 users!

    Hello,
I am assuming that you are using the official Android market from Google. A team member of mine was suggesting that you may have an older cache of the marketplace in your device. Adobe does not officially support Android 3.0 for Reader as of now.
Having said that we are working on it hope to release it quite soon.

  • On Android, how big can PDF be for reading?

I have Samsung Galaxy s4 mini, Android 4.4.2.  I have a PDF file that's about 400 pages and 2.6 Meg.  I'm thinking that it could be big for reading on the Android -- that moving around in the file may be cumbersome due to its size.  (I haven't tried it yet.)  I think I've opened smaller PDF files before without having a separate app.  If I do it that same way, how will the system handle the big file?
1-Should I break the file up into smaller files (which I could do on my desktop computer and then put them on the Android)?
2- Should I use a separately downloaded Adobe App to handle the file on the Android?
    Thanks

Currently, Adobe Reader for Android does not provide an option to disable auto-save.
In the Reader home screen (where your files are displayed), you can make a copy of the original PDF document, open the copy (instead of opening the original document), make changes to the copy.  Once you email the copy, you can delete it.
For more information, please see Help > How To... > Copy, edit, delete, manage.
Although it is not the most convenient way to accomplish the task, that's the only feasible workaround that is available in Adobe Reader for Android right now.

  • What I need to create and publish a magazine for iOS and Android?

    Hi!
I would like to know what I need to design, create and publish a magazine for iOS and Android. I would also like to know what products I need, what price would you pay and what process I have to follow to carry out this work.
    Thanks in advance!

It is NOT possible to create a Single Edition app for Android. Single Edition apps work only on the iPad.
You can create Single Edition apps using any account—CC, Pro, or Enterprise—and if you cancel your DPS subscription, these Single Edition (or single-folio) apps are still available in the App Store as long as you maintain your iOS account with Apple.
For multi-folio apps, the app container is downloaded from an app store, but the folios are downloaded from the Adobe Distribution Service. If you cancel your DPS subscription, the Adobe Distribution Service basically shuts down for that app. New users can still download your apps from an app store, but the library will be empty. Existing users can still view the folios they've downloaded, but they can't get any updates or new folios.

  • Create ID PDF with Audio (multimedia) for Reader

Does anyone know how I can properly code my InDesign file so that the audio that I choose to embed will play back properly in Adobe Reader AS WELL AS Adobe Acrobat.  So far I am getting conflicting results:  In Acrobat the audio plays back once a particular page loads and then continues to play even if I navigate away from that page.  In Reader if I navigate away then the audio stops.
Furthemore I cannot seem to get audio to play on Reader for mobile devices such as the iPhone, iPad, or HP TouchPad or even Android Phones and tablets.
How do I encode audio in my ID file for Reader for mobile devices?  I'd rather ask in one thread instead of having to repeat myself in multiple threads across the various mobile OS Reader Forums.
    Thanks in advance

This seems to indicate that Acrobat Standard cannot create comment-enabled PDF documents, but either Pro or Pro Extended can. Is that correct?
If I buy Acrobat Pro, will I be able to use it to create comment-enabled PDF documents from my Word 2007 documents?
    Yes and yes.
    Ragg Mopp wrote:
If so, how does it work? Will it convert the Word document? Will it convert the PDF document I create using the Word add-in? Can I invoke it from inside Word?
    Thanks
It's very simple. Create your PDF from Word, open in Acrobat and use the Comments>Enable for commenting and analysis in Adobe Reader. You cannot invoke it from within Word no.

  • Use different DPS accounts for iPad and Android versions of same app?

    Hi there,
When creating an Android version of an iPad DPS app should the account used to create the content (the 'Title ID' in the DPS App Builder) be the same for both versions, or different? In the content viewer I know that iPad content will show up even on Android, so I'm thinking that the answer is probably no, but I haven't managed to find it mentioned in the Adobe docs.
      Thanks,
    Toby

It depends, but usually the answer is that you want to use a different account for iOS and Android. Not all features supported in the iOS viewer are supported in the Android viewer. For example, if you use panoramas or iOS-specific web views in your articles, you'll want to be able to use different content for the Android viewers. Search for "dps supported features" for a comparison chart.
I use different Application accounts for my apps. I use the Share/Copy feature to transfer the folios from the iOS account to the Android (or Windows) account. Then I delete the few articles that don't work well in the viewer and replace them with articles generated from different source files. That works well and doesn't require too much extra effort.
If you want to reduce the amount of letterboxing in Android viewers, you'll definitely want to use different accounts and use, for example, 1280x800 folios instead of 1024x768.

Remember you can only build an iPad app using your Single Edition solution (which is included in your CC membership). So you'd need a Pro or Enterprise version of DPS to be able to create the Android version.
You can create pop-ups in InDesign using the slideshow options and a multi-state object. But it's all manual labour so you'll spend a lot of time on this, also depending on the layout of your design.

  • How can I restore bookmarks after I pressed clear data for Firefox on Android

I have pressed clear data for Firefox in Android Application manager. On SGS4 it is Settings->Options->Application manager->Fitefox->Clear data. Can I restore my bookmarks now?

Android's Clear Data button completely deletes your Firefox settings files. I am not aware of any way to undo that unless there is an "unerase" tool for Android files as there are on desktop operating systems.
Some ways you might have made a copy of those bookmarks:
    * Did you ever set up Firefox Sync and sync the bookmarks to a Firefox Account?
    * Did you ever use the [https://addons.mozilla.org/android/addon/copy-profile/ Copy Profile add-on] in Firefox for Android?

  • Adobe Story support for Chromebook or Android

Any word on Adobe Story support for Chromebook or Android? From what I understand ChromeOS is not much more than an HTML5 browser? I want to get one of the new 8 hour Haswell powered Chromebook laptops this Holiday season under $300. I can understand delaying Adobe Story development on ChromeOS as it is still very small, but Android? There's over 1.5 million Android activations everyday. That's more than the entire population of Canada every month:) .. hard to understand turning a blind eye to these numbers much longer.

UPDATE the web version of Adobe Story runs perfectly on Chromebook, ACER C720 2848 with 2GBs of RAM $199.99 Amazon. Remember to disable any Chrome extensions you might have installed that disable Flash, for instance Flash Block. Also double clicking on the project will not open it, instead click the tiny twirl down triangle next to the Project's name and select, Open from the menu. I wasn't able to install the desktop version (no surprise). This is good news for us that would like a cheap "beater" laptop for scripting that runs more than 8 hours. Now if we only had an Android version of Adobe Story...
