Hypertext link lost when dela pdf conversion

Hello,
We use Acrobat X Pro and Office 2013. When we convert a PowerPoint document containing hyperlinks in pdf format, the links are no longer active.
Could you help us?
Thank you in advance.
cordially

Hi
Acrobat X does not support Office 2013. For Office 2013, you need to have Acrobat 11.0.1 or higher.
Thanks

  • Hypertext links not working after pdf conversion

I have a document that contains many hyperlinks to external PDF files. Not sure if I created the link correctly to start with, but when I save the book file as a pdf none of the links to the external pdf files work.  I entered the location of the files as the marker tex as shown ../Vendor_Data/Show/vendor_manual.pdf not sure if I need anything in the hypertext field. can someone assist. the directory structure is:  c:\techpubs\Frame\files.fm  the vendor data is c:\techpubsVendor_Data\data.pdf.
    Thanks

    > ... many hyperlinks to external PDF files.
    What Marker type?
    >  I entered the location of the files as the marker text as shown
    >../Vendor_Data/Show/vendor_manual.pdf
Why is "/Show" in that path?
    > ... the directory structure is:
    > c:\techpubs\Frame\files.fm
    > the vendor data is
    > c:\techpubsVendor_Data\data.pdf.
You are missing a "\" after "techpubs", and the pdf names don't match.
I presume that even when you get that working locally, you are aware that it won't work whenever the calling and called files don't have exactly the same directory-relative relationship. This further means that if consumers of your documents make local copies, they also have to recreate that local directory structure, which typically they won't.
Using fully qualified URLs instead of relative path references is more stable, but of course always forces the reference to use the web.

  • Word TOC links lost when PDF created

I'm trying out Acrobat Pro XI- the trial version.
The links in the source Word 2007 document work properly, are hyperlinked, all that good stuff. I can PDF using other software and the TOC links work properly.
When I use Adobe Acrobat Pro XI, no TOC links when the PDF is created.
I've searched the forum - the only suggestion I found does not apply.
    Thanks

Look at the Preferences in Word's Acrobat tab and see if it's checked properly.

  • Some hypertext links broken in generated PDF

    Hi all,
I'm using FM 8.0p277 to generate a PDF of a book which uses hypertext TOC links to different chapters and topics. We've been using the same process for some time without any problems:
Generate TOC -> Print book to .ps -> run Distiller.
However, recently some of the hypertext links have ceased to work, seemingly at random.
Sample marker text from a nonfunctional link: openObjectId 01 PP System Theory of Op.fm:2 699335
Sample marker text from a functional link: openObjectId 02 PP Intro & Sys Rqts.fm:2 683648
The broken links are not isolated to a certain paragraph style or even to a specific book.
Does anyone have any idea how to fix this? I'm really at a loss.

Thank you very much; the broken links were pointing to markers I'd removed during the release process instead of where I thought they were supposed to be pointing. I think it was a PEBKAC issue, but I never would have noticed if you hadn't mentioned checking the link properties.
I regenerated the PDF after fixing the markers in FM and everything seems to be working fine.
    Thanks again!

  • Ibooks author web links lost when preview to iPad

Created a long book with ibooks author including links to web sites.  Works fine on Mac version but when I open the book on iPad ibooks, web links are lost and default to apple web site.  What do I do to retain links for iPad version of ibooks?

No, catually I can't. I don't see my iPad nor my iPhone either in Image Capture, iPhoto, iTunes. They are nowhere. I even tried 3 different dock-USB cables. The cables are ok and I can charge the devices. But they won't be recognized by all the apps. This never happened before. The only thing that has changed recently is that I installed OSX Lion. Any connection ? What happened????

  • How do I prevent Acrobat from changing paths to linked files when a PDF is saved locally?

    Hi,
I'm creating a PDF for internal company use. Each page will include a button to view a video; the videos themselves will be hosted on an internal network drive.
When I create the button in InDesign, I create an Open File action, browse to the video I want to link to, and it creates (what appears to be) an absolute path to the file. When I export to PDF, the path still appears to be absolute in the button properties, and if I open the PDF directly from its network location, the video button opens the video and works properly.
If the PDF is sent as an attachment or downloaded from the network and saved locally, however, the video links no longer work. The filepath in the button properties still appears to be absolute, but now points to a local folder ("C:\Users\...")
I need users to be able to download and save the PDF locally, but I don't want to embed a dozen videos, for obvious reasons. How can I ensure, then, that the filepaths to the videos are truly absolute and will consistently point to the network location no matter where/how the PDF is saved?

It is relative, but I don't want it to be. The problem is that I don't see any way in either Acrobat or InDesign to specify that it must be absolute.
It sounds like if I were to keep my working file on a local drive and export from there, it would automatically create an absolute link to the network path, but another designer is also working on the project and needs to be able to access the file. I could also copy the entire working folder to a local drive before exporting each time, or manually update the links in Acrobat from a local copy of the PDF after each export... but these both seem like ridiculous extra steps that shouldn't be necessary.
Is it really possible that neither program allows the user to control whether a link is relative or absolute? Should I post this in the InDesign forums, though the issue seems to be in Acrobat?

  • Links lost when exporting to INX file in CS4 for Mac.

I am working with a remote designer who is still in InDesign CS3, but I have CS4. We are both using Macintosh computers. When he emails me a CS3 file, I open it and it converts to CS4, and the links all seem to be just fine: They're missing, because he hasn't sent me the linked files, but the previews and the names of the links are all fine. But when I export the file as Indesign Interchange - INX - format and email it back to him, he opens it and all the links are gone -- they are replaced withe gibberish, and the only way to get the file back is to remember where the links were and manually re-link everything. This is a known bug, and I understand it was fixed in the Windows version of CS4 with an update. Does anyone know when it will be fixed in the Mac version? We are about to have to revert to QuarkXpress, because this is an untenable way to work.
    Thank you.

The release notes for the updates indicate that the problem was fixed. If you've applied the update, you might re-check your version number and make sure that it "took".

  • Superscripts lost when importing pdf

All my superscripts are put back to the baseline when I import a pdf made from ms-word 2003 into Adobe Designer 7,0,01146. The font stays at superscript size but is now on the baseline. I don't see any facility for superscripting in the text tools.
This is quite important for scientific documents, and quite cumbersome to fix.

Dropped Exponents, and other formatting challenges in Pages v5+ tables has been reported several times. Any other table content that survives (intact) should be viewed as a gift.
There is no known schedule when or if Apple will fix this issue. You would be better served, productivity-wise, to use Pages ’09 v4.3 (if you have it) which was moved into /Applications/iWork '09, when Pages v5 was installed.

  • Pictures lost when exporting pdf from Indesign.

    Hey
I have a problem with exporting an Indesign CS4 document into pdf. In the pdf-file all pictures turn into grey boxes.
All photos is cmyk and saved as eps-format.
    What is wrong?
    Hope someone can help.

Subject line says you're *exporting* PDF. Are you exporting or printing to the Adobe PDF printer? Or do you mean that Acrobat is displaying perfectly good pictures as gray boxes (and you verified this by looking at the same PDF on a different machine)?
In my Acrobat 7 (haven't installed 9 yet) I can turn off display of large pictures in Preferences > Page Display > Display large images. If this is unchecked, I can make at least some of my pictures display as gray boxes.

  • PDF conversion with PDF2ID; Hypertext not working when exported back to pdf.

I have done a PDF conversion with PDF2ID, however Hypertext is not working when I exported it back to pdf. I am using the PDF2ID plug-in program to redo all the product booklets for our company as the hypertext did not work when downloaded to any smart phone. All that appeared were blank placeholders in each booklet index page.
According to the PDF2ID people the program plug-in recovers all URLs static and dynamic and bookmarks and local links and suggested I check with Adobe ID5 for help, but Adobe says my $1,000 ID5 is no longer supported and that I should go to the forums.....so here I am.
This is the first time I've even opened my ID5, so I'm a bit lost. Now I need to improve the quality of the PDFs, as we also need to convert all images to TIFF-CMYK in order to have the booklets printed & bound professionally. they tell me ID can do that.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

Ugh...in some companies, that is training.
Don't take this the wrong way David, but of course ID can't do anything. PDF2ID conversions can be sketchy in the hands of the experienced. The same can be said of properly preparing matials for print. As Bob has already alluded, you're in an unfair position there. It's not uncommon for "management" types to just throw some sophisticated tools at a need and expect someone to make it work. In order to do what's being asked of you, you'll have to learn a fair bit about InDesign and production. It's too soon to ask about the output when you haven't learned to manage the input.

  • OK, I need to be able to have a linked TOC, and also have destinations created in FM10 that will not be lost when I 1. Save the book as a PDF. then 2.  need the PDF to be as small as possible, but without losing my destinations. Anyone know how to do that

I had been saving as a PDF and then reducing the size of the PDF by printing it as a PDF with a degree of image compression. I write manuals with a LOT of screen captures and line art that needs to be clear. So it is a balancing act between image clarity and PDF size. The PDFs on the web need to be smaller - sure you can undertsand.
Anyway, when I print the PDF again, I lose both my destinations and bookmarks.
Anyone know of any way to avoid that?

Control the images by creating a custom PDF Job Options and then selecting it in the PDF Job Options drop-down of the PDF setup dialog box (File > Save as PDF...)
Create the custom PDF Job Options file with Distiller. If you do not have Distiller, open the Printing Preferences of the Adobe PDF printer. Start with the Smallest File Size Job Options settings and Edit.

  • Hypertext links are not always preserved from Word to PDF, using Aperçu or Adobe, depending on OS 10 or Lion. Why? This generally works perfectly in Windows. Why are Apple and Adobe unable to correctly handle links when converting from Word to PDF?

Hypertext links are not always preserved from Word to PDF, using Aperçu or Adobe, depending on OS 10 or Lion. Why? This generally works perfectly in Windows. Why are Apple and Adobe unable to correctly handle links when converting from Word to PDF?
Depending on the system version, and Office Word version:
    - a pure URL link starting with http or even www sometimes works in PDF, either produced by Aperçu or Adobe, sometimes does not work;
    - other kind of links where the text under display is not a URL, never work!
I like everything with Apple computers and software, except PDF generation. Output files are usually bigger in size, and no better quality, than under Windows. Furthermore, it is weird that something as common as hyperlinks does not work correctly!
I related this question with Mac OS X Snow Leopard, but the problem is still there with Mac OS Lion.
This problem seems to have been around for years, without any proper solution from Apple and/or Adobe! To me, this is very embarrassing!

    Greetings NoNameGiven,
If I understand the problem correctly (I’m not sure I do) you would prefer ‘iii’ to be read as “eye eye eye” rather than “three”? The alt text property is the only way that I know of to make this happen. Hope this helps.

  • Errors in Export to PDF for web use - some images are lost when PDF is enlarged & in browser

I have a multi-page PDF in InDesign CS6 that I want to export to view on the web. I need the file to stay under 2MB, and I need it to be crisp and nice enough to read the type on the page (as small as 9pt type).
The errors that are occurring are the following:
On some browsers, some images will entirely not show up. Some of the missing images have been pasted into the document, some placed. I cannot think of a correlation.
When the PDF is enlarged (Adobe Acrobat X 10.1.10) to more than ~200%, there is one placed image that will mostly disappear. What I mean by "mostly" is that little bits of it are still visible, like I masked it carelessly or something. Since this is only occurring with one image it seems that it would be a problem with the image itself, yes? I'm all ears if I'm making a mistake. It is a placed .ai file with no link errors. Should I not be placing directly from illustrator? It renders wonderfully from 100% all the way up to 188%, and then if you enlarge by margins of 1% little bits of it disappear, almost a chunk at a time.
The way I've been exporting is:
File > Export > Adobe PDF (Print)
Adobe PDF Preset: Smallest File Size
    Standard: None
    Compatinility: Acrobat 6 (PDF 1.5)
Options: Optimize for Fast Web View
Export Layers: Visible & Printable Layers
    Compression
I always change the downsampling from [100/150] to [150/225]. I usually leave the JPG image quality low. I leave both bottom boxes checked (compress text and line art, crop image data to frames)
    Output
    Color Conversion: convert to destination
    Destination: sRGB 1EC61966-2.1
Profile Inclusion Policy: Include Destination Profile
However, after reading a few other forum questions I started trying to export as Acrobat 4 so that it would flatten. When I do that, problem #2 still persists although I didn't test problem #1. I haven't tried using Distiller, and using the "prepare for web publishing" action within Acrobat itself makes the PDF too artifacted.
At the heart of my question is this: I am a young designer at an old company that is not necessarily keeping up with the times. I REALLY want to know what the best, most efficient way to export a pdf for web viewing is. Does this exist in InDesign, outside of InDesign? Does it exist at all? Tell me what I'm doing wrong so that I can get better!
    Thank you in advance.

Show Large Images is a preference inside of Acrobat which might be disabled.

  • How to: Save as PDF AND preserve Word bookmarks/hypertext links

Is there a way to save a word doc as PDF in OS 10.4 that enables the hypertext links in the PDF file? When I save, i just get blue underlined text in the PDF but it cannot be clicked on to follow the links embedded in the original Word doc.
    thanks for any solutions/workarounds.

I wonder if this is actually a limitation of Preview... I've made PDF files with Illustrator that, when I open them in Acrobat have active links. The links don't work when I open the same file with Preview.
