I accidentally changed all dates of all events, how do I correct it?

Hi,
I accidentally changed all dates of all events, now my entire library of 17000 pics is messed up. Fortunately I have the luxury of two backups: time machine and old Toad's iPhoto dB Backup. Which one should I use, to get back were I was?
Thank you

If you trust the TM version, delete the current library and then restore the TM version. Or, get an external HD or connect to another Mac to temporarily store the current version.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Can I switch calendars (Ex. "night shift" to "day shift" cal) with a repeating event, but ONLY for that one event??  It asks "for all events or only this event" if i change the time.  But it changes ALL events when i try and switch calendars.  Any help??

I have 2 calendars set up for my work schedule, a "night shift" and "day shift" calendar.  I've set up repeating events fro Fri/Sat/Sun 3-11pm "night shifts" and Mon/Tues 7am-3pm "day shifts".  But lets say for example that I swap shifts and instead of working nights on Saturday like I normally would, I am now working days.  I want to change that in my calendar.  When I go to change the event, if i change the TIME it asks if i want to change all event or ONLY this event.  no problem....just this single event.  but when i go to change the event from the "night shift" calendar to the "day shift" calendar, it changes ALL the repeating events, and not just that one single event.   can anyone help with this???  am i doing something wrong?  is there a way to do this or not with the new iCal program???  i used to do this and never had any problems.    Thank you!

You need to follow iPhoto terms since we only know what you tell us
what are you calling folders - in iPhoto folders can not hold photos - albums hold photos and folders hold albums or other folders
The basic default view of photo is by event (iPhoto '08 and later)
Exactly what you you trying to do?

  • Please help! is there a (easy) way to remove/copy files to ext HD without changing ANY date? An d how about e-mail attachments, they also change all dates

    Dear forum readers
All I want is to copy my pics to another disk without MAC OS change the date on wich I shot them. Pics, sent to me by e-mail also loose there original date. I understand the difference between making a new file by copying, but I don't understand why it change when I remove them.

There are two kinds of metadata involved when you consider  jpeg or other image file.
One is the file data. This is what the Finder shows. This tells you nothing about the contents of the file, just the File itself.
The problem with File metadata is that it can easily change as the file is moved from place to place or exported, e-mailed, uploaded etc.
Photographs have also got both Exif and IPTC metadata. The date and time that your camera snapped the Photograph is recorded in the Exif metadata. Regardless if what the file date says, this is the actual time recorded by the camera.
Photo applications like iPhoto, Aperture, Lightroom, Picasa, Photoshop etc get their date and time from the Exif metadata.
The problem is that the Finder doesn't work with Exif. You need to use an app that understands Exif.

  • APERTURE3 changing all my in camera color corrections while importing?

hey everyone finally made the switch to aperture 3, not sure what im doing wrong but whenever i import the pictures from my PANASONIC GF1 or CANON 50D all the in camera color corrections (for example white balance or conversion to black and white ) those settings are dumped and the original image (raw file) is imported into the program.
is this right? is there a setting to where i can turn this off? alot of times i like working in my camera to get the image how i want it to look. sorry if this is a very noob question thanks for any help

May I ask you your help ?
I use RAW+Jpg in different cameras and I import Both Raw as Master, leaving the originals on an external HD, that is referenced system.
I am missing something ?? For instance if I take a BW with my EP2 I get a RAW colored and a BW jpeg into Aperture only if I import separate masters.
If you use your normal 'Both RAW as Master' option, can you Control+Click (right-click)and use the set JPEG to Master option to switch to the Black & White version displayed?
Probably I am only wasting time shoting BW in camera because you can do it later from RAW with aperture...
If the JPEG captured what you wanted to see and will work for your purpose, then it is not a waste of time - IMHO.
I shoot RAW+JPEG also and import 'Both JPEG as Master' because most of the time the JPEG works for what I want.

  • Outlook sync after Eastern Standard Time Change-All events are 1 hour late

After sync'ing with outlook this past weekend, all my iphone calendar events are 1 hour late. the Eastern Standard Time change must have affected this. The time on my phone and my laptop are the same however. Anyone experienced the same issue?

I had a similar problem with iCal, my Treo 650, and Missing Sync. I found a solution on the Missing Sync website that worked for me -- see my post at http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=5453855&#5453855.

  • Iphoto changes the date on some events to a date in the future

I went into my iphoto and noticed some events had been changed to a date in the future.  It seems to do it on random events. It also grouped all of my videos into one event dated the end of May.  Does anyone know what causes this and how to prevent it?

Make a temporary, duplicate copy of your library and apply the three fixes in order as necessary.
    Fix #1
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your HD/User/Home()/ Library/Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your HD/User/Home()/Library /Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
    Fix #2
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Select the options identified in the screenshot.
    Fix #3
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • I have accidentely changed the layout of my events libaray

I was using imovie 09 on my macbook pro and was using the trackpad to select a different event and accidentally right clicked and selected an option. It happened so quickly I did not see which option I selected and now my events are separated by years before this happened my events were just listed one after another
How do I get my events libaray back to the way it was?

Just to the right of where 'Event Library' is written, in the top right corner of the event library window, you will see a button.
Try clicking on that to change the way the event library is displayed.
Otherwise go to the View menu at the top of the screen.
All of the Event display options are in the second group.
    regards,
    Z.

Do you have time zone support enabled with iCal on your Mac, and with your iPhone?
If so, do you have a city selected on your iPhone (where time zone support is enabled) that is in the correct time zone? Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Time Zone Support.
If time zone support is enabled with iCal on your Mac, do you have the correct time zone selected for your Mac at System Preferences > Date & Time under the Time Zone tab?
If time zone support is enabled with both, do you need it enabled with both?

  • I accidentally changed permissions of all the files of my system drive (10.8.5)

    Hi,
By mistake, I accidentally changed the permissions for all the files of my entire system drive. On the root of my system drive, I've put on "Read and Write" for Admin, staff, and everyone, and applied this change to all the files of my entire drive.
Since I did that, I experiment issues with some applications which worked perfectly before that : when I try to open some applications (not all, just some), it tells me things like "something is wrong in the installation of the application", or "can't open the following application", or it simply just doesn't open it.
I have to mention I have no Time Machine or backups of my drive, as I bought my mac three days ago and spent the two last days installing plugins and applications on my drive (for audio production). So I can't replace my drive with a backup of the system before I accidentally changed all permissions.
Also, I repaired permissions on my drive with the disk utility, but all the app that doesn't work are from external developpers (not apple).
Is there any way to "repair" this without having to reinstall all the app that are causing problems ? It would be a pain for me as I just spent 48hours installing everything...
Thanks for anyone that could help...

You need a backup, preferably more than one. This is an example of why.
Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. If Back-to-My Mac is selected in System Preferences, the Guest account will not work. The intent is to see if it is specific to one account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.
Isolating an issue by using another user account
If the problem is still there, try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account.  Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up after waiting 10 seconds. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

  • The calendar sync is recently not working correctly, not display "All events" but it only displays the last six months for my individual entries. My repeating entires do go back further, though. How do I fix?

I have an iPad 5.1.1. The calendar sync has started to not work correctly. I have it checked "All events," but it only displays the last two months for my individual entries. My repeating entires do go back further, though. How do I fix?

HI Jason269. Thanks for your reply, however I wrote that I already have "All events" checked. If All Events is checked and it doesn't diaplay all events, how do I fix? It seems this is a common issue, as I have read many others on here state the same problem.
I believe my problem occurred when I synced my iMac calendar to my iPad calendar using yahoo. Yesterday, I unsynced them on my iMac controls. When I checked my iPad calendar, all of my old entries reappeared - but only for five seconds and disappeared again. So, the data is saved and still there but cannot be displayed, even when I have All events checked. In fact, it only shows my individual entries for the last two months, but does show all my recurring entries. If I switched to last six months, I will see everything for the last six months. If I switch back to all events, it is only for the last two months.
As I mentioned, others on here have expressed exactly the same issue, including the two month example and having used yahoo.
For legal purposes, I need to be able to use the information from my indidual calendar entries in an upcoming court case. So I really need to fix this ASAP!

  • ESS change own data

    Hi SDN.
    Hi,
We can update field USRID IT0105 subtype u2018CELLu2019 via ESS change own data service . But how can we make this field just for display (not change)?
    Best regards,
    Maria João Rocha

    Hi Maria,
Login to your portal system (make sure you have content admin role assigned).
Locate the iview in PCD that you would like to personalize.
(ESS iviews should be under Portal Content - Content Provided by SAP - End User Content - Employee Self-Service.)
Right click on the iview and preview it. Once the iview is loaded, use Control + Right click on the UI element you would like to customize.
Save your changes and make sure to make your changes "final".
    Thanks,
    Shanti

  • Changing all photos in event to SAME date

I have many photos in an event that have a variety of dates.  I would like to change all photos to the SAME date.  All I can figure out to do is change the first photo, but then all of the other photos are time-shifted and still have different dates.  Other than changing the date of each photo individually, what can I do?  Thanks!

Select them all and use the batch change date and time command

  • Changing meeting date/time doesn't reflects to all atendees

... but everybody gets a mail notification of the change.
We cannot figure out whats happening. We tried to reproduce the problem but we couldn't. Anyway we can see:
    a) The owner of the event has his calendar modified
    b) Everybody got mail notification of the date change (Some of them accepted the change, some other didn't answered but nobody rejected)
    c) Some atendees also have their calendars correctly updated. All of them didn't answered the mail notification.
    d) Other don't have their calendars updated. Most of them accepted the change but others didn't answered.
Is this a malfunction??? Are we doing something bad??? Has everybody to accept the change for being actually changed???

I found something more. ALL the calendars well updated have X-S1OC-OUTLOOK-FREEBUSY:2 while ALL the not up-to-date have X-S1OC-OUTLOOK-FREEBUSY:1 I can't figure out exactly whats the meaning of this attribute. Can it be the point?Perhaps. A little digging internally shows that 1=tentative and 2=busy. This may translate back to an action by the receiver of the confirmation of event change email you were referring to earlier. If the user 'accepted' the change then there was no problem, if they didn't accept, or chose to confirm later then the handling of this may be incorrect.
I should note at this stage that I have a passing knowledge of Outlook Connector -- I don't support it day-to-day.
Worst for me is that getting the differences between atendees appointments also found another problem that users told me sometimes: In some calendars aren't reflected all the atendees. What is more, the organizer and two attendats are the only ones who have all the attendants in the appointment. The other seven dont't have two of them. I found that the three ones OK have this attribute and not the others:This could all be a symptom of the same underlying problem/behaviour.
Just hypothesising here -- if a user didn't 'accept' the change in meeting time it is possible the Outlook Connector created a 'new/duplicate' event as a results which didn't have a lot of the details of the old event details including the correct list of attendees.
Are you able to replicate this behaviour in a small test-scenario e.g.
=> Create an event in outlook connector inviting another person who also uses Outlook Connector.
=> Change the time of the event -- this should hopefully send an event change confirmation email to the other person.
=> Have the person reject (not accept) the change/alternatively accept the change.
=> Compare the results to see if you can reproduce the behaviour/symptoms you mentioned above.
    Regards,
    Shane.
