I accidentally deleted a folder in the trash and need it back

I had a problem where my local folders were located under Trash and have been trying to fix it. I deleted the local folder while in trash and can't get it back and it had a lot of info in it

Ask the app developer. That's not an Apple product. I suspect that if it wasn't backed up, it's gone.

In preferences turn on iTunes sharing in iTunes preferences and keep iTunes turned on in both accounts. Or better yet put the iTunes library on the main HD rather than in an account and set the location of the library to that location in iTunes preferences.

  • Accidentally deleted a sample folder from my trash and need to get it back

Hi there i was wondering if there is any one that can offer some sort of assistance with this problem. I tried to free up some space on my hardrive and inadvertently deleted a folder of samples that are pretty precious to me, and as i am working on a remix at this moment, it has put me in a bit of a pickle.
I have tried using various 3rd party software such as "Stellar Phoenix" and "Data Rescue" both of which do not support rx2 files(rex) unless i provide the hexidecimal info, and when they give me my results there is no way to specify which files i am looking for nor do they make it simple to just recover one folder which in this case is all i am looking for.
Is there any way i can just simply recall this folder? or have i just ruined my career with a click?
From this moment on i shall be using time machine so no need to elaborate on that.
I have leopard.8 and a MacBook (white) if that helps and the file types are aup/aiff/wave/rx2 and patches for synths/fx units and such from Reason.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as i am almost at my wits end.
    Thanks in advance.

    Basics of File Recovery
    Files in Trash
If you simply put files in the Trash you can restore them by opening the Trash (left-click on the Trash icon) and drag the files from the Trash to your Desktop or other desired location. OS X also provides a short-cut to undo the last item moved to the Trash -press COMMAND-Z.
If you empty the Trash the files are gone. If a program does an immediate delete rather than moving files to the Trash, then the files are gone. Recovery is possible but you must not allow any additional writes to the hard drive - shut it down. When files are deleted only the directory entries, not the files themselves, is modified. The space occupied by the files has been returned to the system as available for storage, but the files are still on the drive. Writing to the drive will then eventually overwrite the space once occupied by the deleted files in which case the files are lost permanently. Also if you save a file over an existing file of the same name, then the old file is overwritten and cannot be recovered.
    General File Recovery
If you stop using the drive it's possible to recover deleted files that have not been overwritten with recovery software such as Data Rescue II, File Salvage or TechTool Pro. Each of the preceding come on bootable CDs to enable usage without risk of writing more data to the hard drive.
The longer the hard drive remains in use and data are written to it, the greater the risk your deleted files will be overwritten.

  • If a project is moved from the fcp events folder into the trash and emptied, is it possible to get it back?, If a project is moved from the fcp events folder into the trash and emptied, is it possible to get it back?

I had a fcp events folder on an external drive and moved it to the trash.  I then emptied the trash but I now need that project back.  Is this possibe at all!

As far as you are concerned the answer is most likely "NO".
Theoretically it is possible to retrieve trashed items assuming you have the technical expertise and equipment of the FBI or if you purchase expensive retrieval software.
Unless the project is of immense financial value it is probably best just to redo it.

  • I accidentally deleted my iPhoto from the computer and from recycle bin. How can I get it back? I do not have the iLife disc and don't want to pay the $15 for 2011 version. How can I do this?

Also, if I buy Lion OS, will it be back or no?

If you don't have an Installer disk then you can't install without a purchase. Do you have the grey SystemRestore disks that came with your Mac? It's on that. No, iPhoto is not part of Lion.

  • Help, I accidentally put a desktop icon the trash (my photo booth!). I don't  know how to undo it!

Help me. I accidentally created a desktop icon from Iphoto and when I wanted to get it off the desktop, I put it in the trash. Now, it appears that my entire photo collection is in the trash bin and I don't want it to be there! How do I tell it to take it back out of the trash bin???

Please explain in more detail, how you created, made or moved that "icon" to your desktop...?
If you not sure, open the trash, control click on the "icon" in the trash, select Get Info and report back.
If it looks like this > with nothing after it, then you need to drag it out of the trash and put it back into your user Pictures Folder.
If it is a copy or alies and you can currently open iPhoto and see all your photos, then there should not be any problem just emptying the trash and making it go away.

  • Can I get the Trash and Send folder in IMAP

    Hi,
I work now for a mail aplication using IMAP. I connect to Microsoft Exchange Server and my question is if there is a posibility to find which folder is the TRASH and which one is the SEND folder. The idea is that I can not use the name because I don't know which IMAP server the users will use (I mean the server can be in different languages and then the folders will have different names).
    Thanks in advance,
    Catalin Tileaga

One thing you can consider if you're using Exchange 2000 is to use the WebDAV protocol for accessing the server. If you're using Exchange 5.5 you might consider using CDO. Both protocols would allow you to get the real name of the Trash and Sent folders programmatically so that you don't have to rely on a hardcoded name. See the link below for more information...

  • I unintentionally deleted the first segment of some video.  I was able to get it out of the Trash and into "Finder", but I cannot restore it to iMovie and the original video.  Help!  How do I move the video (now in Finder) back to iMovie?

I deleted (to Trash) a segment of "raw footage" from an iMovie project that I did not want to delete.
I was able to retreive it from the Trash and move it to Finder, but I cannot figure out how to move it back to iMovie.
How do I do this (restore the video segment to the start of the project)?
Or, do I have to load the original video again from the camera?

    @ "Afterimages":
Well, yes, I suppose I could re-import the video.  (LIkely ALL of it, dammit!)
So, unless I'm mistaken that would be the "long way" to resolving this issue.
I was able the take the deleted video out of the Trash and now it's in Finder.  Why can't I simply re-insert it into iMovie where it orginally was?  That would be the simple solution, just "click and drag", or something like that, correct?  Maybe that's impossible?  (In which case, I must ask, "Wouldn't the creators of iMovie have considered this "boo-boo" and done something to remedy it easily?"  I doubt I'm the first vidiot to do this...

  • I accidentally deleted my media files from iTunes and Trash when I was trying to move the files to an external hard drive. Is there a way to restore the media files from a Time Machine backup or from iTunes Match? What are the steps to do this?

I accidentally deleted my media files from iTunes and Trash when I was trying to move the files to an external hard drive. Is there a way to restore the media files from a Time Machine backup or from iTunes Match? What are the steps to do this?

If you have been backing up on Timemachine.
All you need to do is enter time machine... Then the rest is obvious.
Find the iTunes folder and hit 'Restor'.
If not the only way to get all your iTunes music back is to enter iTunes Store.
On the right hand side you should see 'Purchased'.
Click 'purchased' and there you have it.

  • How do you disable the shortcut key in Mail that deletes all mail in the trash folder

Is there a way to disable the shortcut key in Mail in Mountain Lion that deletes all mail in the Trash folder in all accounts: <shift><command><delete> ?
I did it once by mistake and it deleted all my trash - it is very difficult to restore when there are thousands of messages in various emaiil accounts.
    Thanks

While you can't (so far as I know) remove it - you can assign a different (& less likely to be used accidentally) one via System Preferences - Keyboard - Shortcuts.
Go there, create a new one (or 2) for Mail only, and give it the exact name(s) if the menu item(s) in question, capitalisation & ... included.
Below is on 10.6, but the idea's the same

    Gay,
I wonder what your computing environment is. Is your account being administrated by another account? Are you working in an account subject to "Parental Controls"?

  • I Have Accidentally Put My System Folder In The Trash...

    Hello,
One day i was cleaning up my harddrive when i think i may have accidentally dragged my system folder to the trash can. At which point i shut down the computer. Now i went to restart the computer and a panic screen pops up and i cannot load into my os. i already tried force loading the start up cd and that don't work. i heard there is a fix for this i can't find it though. is there a way to fix this? Im ok with losing my data I would actually prefer to lose it.
    Help Much Appreciated,
    Hunt The Mac!
    (Ibook G4 (10.4.11) PPC)
Just To Let You Aware I Have Other Computers If That Helps

What other computers do you have? If you have another Mac with FireWire, you could try starting up in FireWire Target Disk Mode with the iBook G4 as the target disk. This will mount the iBook's hard drive on the other Mac and you should be able to access the iBook's hard disk from the other Mac and drag the System Folder out of the Trash and back to where it belongs.

  • How can I increase the time deleted emails stay in the trash folder?

Sometimes I find that I need to refer back to an email that was deleted. Right now the emails are dumped from the trash folder very quickly. I would like to let the deleted emails stay in the trash folder for a much longer period of time.

Is this on Comcast email? Another email site?
Usually this is set in the options for the site, and not in Firefox itself.
If you are retrieving mail into the Thunderbird email program, there actually is a different support forum for Thunderbird here: https://support.mozillamessaging.com/home
