I was cleaning my caches which was taking forever to clean up. (more than 4 hours). I accidentally hit the stop (x) button when the "empty secure trash" process was going on. Have I screwed up my computer? Can I continue the "Empty Secure Trash" later?
Just restart your computer. Then go to Finder menu and change 'Secure empty trash' to Empty trash.
Unless you work with state secrets you really don't need secure empty trash which takes seven times longer to do its job. Empty trash is fine for all but the afore-mentioned secret files.

I rented a movie and accidentally hit the menu button and now I can figure out how to go back and watch it . When I try to press rent again it says you have already downloaded this movie go to settings and check for downloads but I can find it download in settings.
I had the same issue with my apple tv 3rd generation. I rented Sinister and selected the "rent and watch now" option. Half way through the movie I accidentally pressed the menu button. When I looked for the rented movie on my apple tv I could not find it. Not even above the movie pannel where "purchased" and "top movies" comes up on the main menu. the apple tv suggests to go to settings>downloads but I don't have that option. I did go to settings> itunes store> check rentals but that didnt work either. It took too long to even check. Thank you because this SOLUTION worked great.
SOLUTION: How to reset apple tv 3 3rd generation to view rented movies:on the apple tv remote: press and hold "menu" to go to the main menu. Select SETTINGS> GENERAL >RESET >RESET ALL SETTINGS. After the apple tv resets, input all your information again and your rented movies should be visible when you cruise above the "movies" section. THANK YOU!!
Apple needs to solve this issue because honestly it took me 3 hours and a half to watch a movie that only lasted 2 BECAUSE I wast trying to solve the issue, reseting and all. blahh. -
I could not start up my MacBook Air tonight, even after making sure the battery was fully charged. I have had it for 2 1/2 weeks and downloaded Mountain Lion 2 days ago. This has never happened before. It started when I held down the power button and accidentally hit the F12 Key. Is this a problem and what should I do about it?

rented a movie on itv. It started downloading. I accidentally hit the menu button and it threw me out of download. I went back and tried to download again. Open the App Store. From the menu bar click Store > Sign In
Click Purchases from the top of the App Store window.
Select which apps you want to re download. Then right or control click where you see Installed then click Install.

Accidentally hit the 'trim comp to work area'. Now I can't get my files back into comp timeline.
I'm using After Effects CC on my macpro. When going to add a shot to the render queue, I accidentally hit the 'trim comp to work area' and didn't notice what had happened until I went to go back to work on other shots. I tried to hit Control Z but it was too late it seemed and it wouldn't go back to how it was. i tried resetting the length of the comp and putting the files back, but no use. Tried making a new comp and copy and pasting all the files in the side panel of my orig comp, but nothing. Tried re-adding the same file from the project window and copying and pasting the effects keyframes from the orig shot to the new one but they didn't line up properly.
I still have all the files in the comp side panel but can't seem to get them back into the now extended timeline. I still have all the effects I've been doing for the past 3 weeks, but can't do anything to get them into a position where I can continue to manipulate them.
I've searched a bunch of forums and can't find this problem anywhere.
Have I lost all my work? Please help.It appears that you've pushed those layers into negative time, which you can't view in the Timeline. To get the layers back into the Timeline view, you'll need to move the layers in time with keyboard shortcuts. I assume that you've got your layers arranged in an edit, and you want to preserve their relationships, so do the following:
Select all of the layers.
Hold down Alt/Option+Shift and press Page Down until the layers are visible. This shortcut moves layers 10 frames later in time. Removing Shift moves them 1 frame at a time. Using Page Up instead of Page Down will move them earlier in time.
Another useful pair of shortcuts is [ and ], which set the in or out points of the select layer(s) to the current time. But you probably don't want to use those shortcuts in this case because you'll lose the time relationships of your edit. -

No. You must connect your iPad to a computer (it does not have to be yours) in order to restore it to factory settings.
Once you're home, you can restore it from a backup.
Any content that you did not backup has been lost.

I accidentally hit the little X while tracking my stolen iPad!!!
So my iPad was stolen yesterday by this sleezy jerk, and I was using "find my iPad" for the first time... it tracked him down and asng the iPad to lock and display a strongly worded note. All of that worked fine... then i accidentally hit the little X next to my iPad in the devices window. I havent heard a peep from my poor iPad since! Help!!! Will I ever hear from it again?
Unfortunately it will only reappear if the device comes back online using your iCloud account. If your iPad has been wiped/Find my iPhone deactivated, then it will not show up again.

Hello, I was going to have my presentation on my MacBook Air. But when I putted it up on the big screen it wasn't a normal presentation. There was two pages at the time and a timer came up. How can I fix this as fast as posible? Thank's in advance.
Your MacBook is using the big screen as the Presenter Display, and the MacBook Air display as the Show display. Tap the 'x' key to swap them during the show.

i have a friend who was going to sync her phone with my computer to get the new update.. how do i add her phone with out her losing everything on her phone and not getting all my info on her phone..
First, create a separate login on your computer for your friend. Do this BEFORE you do anything else. Next, make sure iTunes is up to date. Then:
1. Disable auto sync when an iPod/iPhone is connected under Preferences>Devices in iTunes.
2. Make sure you have one contact & one event in the supported applications(Address Book, iCal) on your computer. These entries can be fake, doesn't matter, the important point is that these programs not be empty.
3. Connect her phone, iTunes running, do not sync at this point.
4. Store>Authorize this computer.
5. File>Transfer Purchases(To make sure all purchased content on her phone will be in her itunes library).
6. Right click in the device pane & select reset warnings.
7. Right click again and select backup.
8. Right click again & select restore from backup, select the backup you just made. When prompted to create another backup, decline.
9. This MUST be followed by a sync to restore her itunes content, which you select from the various tabs, You'll get a popup regarding her contacts & calendars asking to merge or replace, select merge.
You should be good to go. -

My 32gb iPod Touch was stolen but have content stored in iTunes.

Accidentally hit the "erase all" option, iphone will not start - HELP!
I accidentally hit erase all option IN MY IPHONE, as a result, every time I turn my iphone on, first there's a yellow screen and then it starts performing a self test (similar to DOS systems), and at the end of this test it says "ApplSerialMultiplexer: mux-ad(byp)::dormancySetIntervalGated: Setting dormancy interval to 5000 ms with mask 0x1700", stops and reboots itself and then it starts over. I need HELP!
