I accidentally moved Excel to Trash, after 'put back' it still doesn't open?

Let me clear, my Excel was working perfectly before I did this.
I had put the excel shortcut on the desktop, and I moved it to trash because I didn't need the icon on the desktop. I tried to open Exel on the dock, but it didn't open and said that you have to remove it from trash in order to open it. So, after removal from trash (using "put back" option), I clicked on the icon on the desktop now. It didn't open. Even with the dock icon, it displayed this message:
The error message displayed is:
"Microsoft Excel cannot be opened because of a problem.
Check with the developer to make sure Microsoft Excel works with this version of Mac OS X. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install any available updates for the application and Mac OS X.
This report will be sent to apple automatically."
Community, please help and advise.
I am using Microsoft Office 2011.

When I try to open Iphoto is comes up saying I need to prepare this version of iphoto with an upgrader.  I have installed it many times but it still goes back to the original window telling me I need to upgrade
But did you run the iPhoto Library Upgrader after you installed it?  The installer will install the iPhoto Library Upgrader in the folder Utilities in the Applications folder. Launch the upgrader and select your iPhoto library. After it finishes, try to run iPhoto again.  (See:  iPhoto '11: About the Library Upgrader)
Be sure to make a backup copy of your iPhoto library, before you try to open and to upgrade it. That is safer, because in some rare cases the upgrade can corrupt the library.

  • I can't watch movies, it is asking for latest adobe flash. After updating adobe flash still doesn't show movies.

I can't watch movies , asking for adobe flash. After installing the latest adobe flash still doesn't show movies.

The other day, there was someone here who figured after quite a while that he had plug-ins disabled in Safari. He could have installed Flash a hundred times but never get it to work.
Of course, you do have plug-ins enabled. Yes? Quick double-check? Safari -> Preferences -> Security tab -> checkmark at "Enable plug-ins"...

  • Accidentally "moved project to trash".... now it won't reinstate?

After about 5 hours of working on it, I had finished making a slideshow in iMovie '09... I was going to go show somebody but wanted to quickly delete other projects that I had finished. I clicked on "Move to Trash" for those 2, but apparently I clicked one too many times and accidentally deleted my slideshow project.
Not really a big deal, right, since all you have to do is move the file out of the trash to make it work again? WRONG. It's not opening. I went to the trash and pulled out the "Temporary Item" folder iMovie automatically puts it in; now, when I click on the icon, iMovie opens to a new event ("My First Project") and won't acknowledge my slideshow. I tried doing the same thing for the other projects I meant to delete, and the same thing occurs. The file is still identified as an iMovie Project.... but... yeah. It's not working. Has anyone else had this problem and/or could help me fix it?????

I read another post about moving the file into the Movies>iMovie>iMovie Projects folder. Did that and it worked.

  • How does one clean out the trash, after putting in a time line file in?

After cleaning out some old files, it was late one night that I put a old file from the Time Line into the trash.  Now how can this be FIXED?

Time Line...? If you mean Time Machine, then you should only delete old backups and files using the Time Machine interface.
If you did a NO NO and moved old Time Machine backups to the Trash using Finder? Then go to > Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions 12 and scroll down to the section in gray for the solution.

  • Accidentally dragged Excel to Trash and now it won't open.

I dragged Excel from Office 2008 to the Trash file.  I then dragged it out and now it won't open.  I have tried reloading the software but am stymied there as well by a message that the version I now have is newer than the version on my disc.  Help.

Margaret make sure you backup your system using Time Machine and/or a bootable clone. After doing so then uninstall MS Office. You will find a uninstall  routine in the MS Office folder located in Applications. After uninstalling MS Office then re-install using the original DVD.
BTW, going forward there is a forum specifically for Office for Mac hosted by Microsoft, click on Office for Mac Product Forums. I would recommend bookmarking the site.

  • Launchpad apps still randomly moving around on screen after mavericks now yosemite still same

Basically Lauchpad keeps re-arragning the apps every boot it is different. Minor bug but SO annoying. Can anyone help? Same problem through mountain... mavericks... now yosemite ...

This is a little different than just turning off your iPad and restarting it.
Try a hard reset by pressing and holding down on the sleep button at the top of the iPad while holding down on the home button at the bottom, until the Apple logo appears and the iPad restarts. Launch an app again and see what happens.
You can also try closing apps to see if that helps. Double tap the home button, your recent apps will appear, tap and hold down on one of the icons until they all start to wiggle, then tap the minus sign to shut down the apps.
You could also have an app on the iPad that is causing the problem. When the apps are shutting down like this, it just sounds like a plain old "crash" to me. It should not happen regularly. A number of users experience crashes. I just had one and my iPad has had no real problems other than the occasional crash.
See if any of these things help.

  • I have a Mac Book pro 2007 and when I try to start, after logging in it just doesn't open.  The apple symbol shows but it seems to be frozen????

I have a Macbook Pro from 2007 and run Mac OS Lion.  Today it froze and when I tried to restart after log in it just freezes and does not open?  Can anybody help?
    Gunilla

First thing to try, reboot from the Mac OS X install disk that came with your machine.  When it starts up, select your language, then choose Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.  Select your hard drive in the list and then, in the First Aid tab, click Repair Disk (NOT Repair Disk Permissions).  If there were problems that were repaired, try rebooting again and see if the problem is gone.
Alternately, if you have upgraded that machine to Lion (Mac OS X 10.7), you can hold down command-R at startup to enter recovery mode, and then open Disk Utility from there and do the same repairs.
Let us know what the results are for further assistance, if the problems continue after repairing.

    Hi ..
Apparenlty the app is compatible with iOS versions 5.1.1 to 7.1.
    See here >  https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/bejeweled-blitz/id469960709?mt=8
Apparently they havnen't updated the app for iOS 8 compatibility as yet.

  • After updating itunes, the program doesn't open anymore- audioconfigeration

    hi!
after i updated my itunes some days ago, the program does not open anymore. there is just a message saying, that itunes cannot start, because it has discovered a problem with my audioconfigeration (i don't know if this is the right word for it, because the message is in german "Audiokonfiguration").
i'm so desperate. i tried to repair the program, but the problem is still there. i'm afraid to reinstall it, because of my songs (are they gone then?)...
    regards,
    green123

(i don't know if this is the right word for it, because the message is in german "Audiokonfiguration").
that one is typically caused by a problem with your QuickTime. (iTunes uses QuickTime for audio and video playback.)
the following document may be of some assistance:
iTunes 7 for Windows: iTunes had detected an audio configuration problem
(the German version of this document is still calling this the -200 error ... which is how it used to present to folks using iTunes 7.0.0.70 and 7.0.1.8.)

  • I want the image preview put back into PS CS6 file open dialog box (WIndows)

    PATCH IT NOW ADOBE!!!

I sense a bit of frustration.  It's understandable.  I've expressed some of the same myself on occasion.
Ssprengel and I have suggested this solution to you as it actually improves many things beyond just working around the omission in Photoshop functionality.
Even with Photoshop CS5 and earlier I had added the codec pack.  The codec pack provides more than just an image preview in Photoshop dialogs, as it adds awareness of the image to all Windows functions, including the Windows Photo Viewer for example.  Like you, I prefer not to use Bridge.  Consider this Explorer window:
You're certainly welcome to not buy the upgrade to Photoshop CS6.  No one's twisting your arm.  Unfortunately, your alternatives are...  ???  And keep in mind if you do skip Photoshop CS6, the upgrade to Photoshop CS7 will be hugely more expensive.

  • I updated safari and now it opens with a blank page.  I can open a page after that but my homepage doesn't open.

When I launch safari it opens with a blank page.

    Hey mate,
I was having the same problem. If you upgraded to Lion - apparently there is a 'general tab' in the system preferences that has a box that you need to un check. (The box says something about restoring all last windows from last session)
If you updated Safari but are not using Lion, here is how to fix it. Simply delete this item fromyour Mac HD and restart Safari.
    [USERHOME]/library/preferences/com.apple.safari.plist
Hope this helps... It worked for me!
