I accidentally pasted over a note.

I accidentally pasted over a note on my iPhone 4 containing 3 weeks of work hours. Have since checked other notes. Tried shaking the crap out of the phone in the "new" pasted over note to bring up the "undo" to no avail. The note was not saved to the cloud. Is there any way to get the original note back?

What could this mean? I don't have any idea. Either the notw was saved to the cloud (if you keep your notes in an iCloud account), or you have a Notes account somewhere else that might have the original note (but almost certainly not).
Anyway, with 99.9% certainty, the old note is gone. The only hope is if you keep notes in some other account (like Outlook) and have a backup in that account.

You cannot view the contents of your backup file. Your backup does contain notes, but if you can't remember when you last backed up relative to when you created or revised the note, then you can try checking the date stamp of the backup file to see when it was last done (or, if you backup to iCloud then your Settings will tell you).

I believe you're saying you were composing a very long email message in gmail on your iPhone, and you then pasted over the message you were composing, losing all the previous content.
If that is the case, there is no way to get back the original content.

IPad 2 Pasted Over Notes, Backup?

Hey Guys;
Last night I accidentally selected all, then pasted while in Notes.
It pasted some long javascript bologna - not sure why that was in the clipboard, but it's irrelevant.
I tried several arrow shaped buttons hoping for undo, but went back and forth to other docs.
I googled undo and found it on the second keyboard page, however it didn't undo my paste, probably because of going into other docs I guess.
My iPad is backed up to my Windows 7 PC and to iCloud (I think), however my notes are not synced between my iPhone and iPad for some reason.
Here is the question:
How do I recover the note I pasted over?
So I have a backup, what good is it? Can I get just that note back?

If your iPad is backed up to iTunes on your PC .... And if the notes that you want to retrieve are in that backup.... Restore the iPad from that backup in order to recover the notes. I would turn off auto sync first because you dont want to take the chance that iTunes will overwrite that backup if you auto sync.
Launch iTunes and got to Edit>Preferences>Devices. Click on the box at the bottom .... Prevent iPods .... From syncing automatically. Click OK. Quit iTunes.
Connect the iPad to your PC and launch iTunes, right click on the iPad name on the left under devices and select restore from backup.
Be aware ... When you restore from a backup - you restore everything that is in that backup - you cannot selectively restore content from a backup.

Paste over at playhead to insert video while retaining audio not working

I am trying to paste "extra" video over my bad video, using the cross dissolve transition between the original and the pasted, and then back to the original video. All this time, I am seeking to have the original audio playing. I have followed the iMovie help directions as to copying the video piece I want to splice in (about 10 seconds long), then selecting the segment of video and audio to past over (9seconds long) and choosing under the advanced menu the paste over at playhead command.
The audio gets screwed up, with pieces not syncing properly. I am using high definition audio/video from a jvc hd camera.
The file I'm working on is about 1 hour long, and I am using an Intel Mac Pro (1 yr. old) with upgraded memory (the paste over at playhead command does work pretty quickly).
The first time this happenned I had extracted the audio, but it happens even on a virgin file without the audio extracted. I've now reinput the virgin footage 3 times as the files are corrupted.
Plus, sometimes the cross dissolve doesn't work. And sometimes the paste over at playhead command just doesn't work, especially if I am trying to add two consecutive "extra" segments of between 10 and 20 seconds. Any ideas? My project requires probably 50 of these pasted video segments as it is a concert with many camera moves (only one camera) which I had hoped to cover with the "extra" video.

Mouse Over event not dispatching properly.

I am working on a scroll for iPhone, in which I'm using touch scrolling, it is working fine with less number of list items, but when I increases the nuber of items in scroll list, the mouse over event not propogates properly, I mean to say those events are overlapping due to some extra memory issue, can any one have any idea about it.

The highlighted part is working properly for less items but not for more number of items, lets say 200 movieclips in scroll lists.

Paste over @ playhead

I was wondering, can you "Paste over at playhead" with pictures? It sure is time consuming trying to re-sync the audio with the video later.

Ok i've been able to do it with video. You find the place you want the video to paste over, it extracts the audio then places your desired video over the exsisting video. With pictures I'm not getting the effect i want. The option to paste is there but when i do it the picture doesn't show up it doesn't paste where i want it to go. Instead it just extracts the audio and that's it???

How to do a cut-scene? (Paste Over)

How do I overlay a scene on the video in the project with the sound from the existing clip remaining intact?
For example. I have a clip of a school choir. I want to insert a clip of the audience but I want the original school choir clips sound during that scene.
I believe that it was called "paste over in the old version.

YES -- it does work:
1) In the Project, drag right from the Head (beginning) of clip (A) to the point where the Insert will START.
2) Split Clip. Now you'll have 2 clips where there was one: A1 and A2.
3) In the Project, drag left from the Tail (end) of clip (A) to the point where the Insert will STOP.
4) Split Clip. Now you'll have 3 clips where there was one: A1, A2, and A3.
5) Note how long clip A2 is (use TC).
6) Trim the Head of Insert clip (B) to its exact START point. Leave the clip longer than the A2 clip!
7) Select Clip B.
8) Drag the Insert clip (B) into the point between the A2 and A3 clip.
9) Select clip A2.
10) SHIFT+APPLE drag the A2 clip's audio to Insert clip (B).
11) Delete clip A2.
12) Turn the Insert's clip (B) audio to zero.
13) Drag the audio (green) clip fully left to the Head of clip B.
14) Drag the Tail of the audio (green) clip fully right.
15) Drag the Tail of clip B right until it is as long as the audio (green) clip.
Note there is a second type of Insert Edit called a BACKTIMED INSERT:

These two types of inserts are 3-point Inserts where two of the points are in the Project. There are two other types of 3-point Inserts where there is only one point in the Project. And, there is 4-point Insert which 08 cannot do.

Paste over

hi! i am trying to use video and insert a paste over with photos and then back to video. i have extracted my audio and did the paste over and it worked beautifully. however, the problem is i want video, the a TRANSITION then the photos because it is such a drastic movement when it goes to the cut-away.
here's what i did... i have video then photos with transitions between the photos but can't seem to get TRANSITIONS BEFORE the photos start. is it possible to do that?

I just tried it and I was able to drag in a transition between the video and the pasted in still photos just fine. The extracted audio moved over the transition and it played well. I used the cross-dissolve, for only 00:26.
From iMovie Help:
To replace images in a clip while maintaining running audio:
Choose iMovie HD > Preferences, and then click General.
Select the "Extract audio when using Paste Over at Playhead" checkbox.
Select the video or photo that you want to insert.
Choose Edit > Cut or Copy.
Do one of the following:
To paste the entire video you selected in step 3, position the playhead at the first frame to be replaced. When you paste the clip, it will replace a portion of video equal to its length.
To paste over a specific segment of your movie, select the part of the video clip you want to paste over. (To learn more about selecting part of a video clip, see Related Topics below.)
If the video you're pasting is longer than the selected frame range, the excess video will not be pasted. If the video you're pasting is shorter than the selected frame range, the extra space will be filled with a color clip (or the still image, if you paste a still image).
Choose Advanced > "Paste Over at Playhead."
The audio track of the original video is retained and appears in audio track 1 of the timeline viewer.
Just drag the transition between the video and the photo.

Accidentally saved over an important InDesign file

I've accidentally saved over a really important file can I recovery it or do I have to redesign it? URGH!!!!! Why is command z so close to command s. I've been doing this for too long to make this mnistake.

I don't know. What I do know is that when I'm working on very important projects like this I often put them in a Dropbox folder. They get backed up and I get access to all the past versions by going to the dropbox website.That feature has saved my neck on more than one ocassion.
