I accidentily deleted the "yesterday" folder from my history list. How do I get it back (the folder, not the contents)?

I meant to delete the contents of the "yesterday" history folder, but accidentily deleted the folder itself (with the little clock in front of it) by by right clicking, then choosing delete from the dropdown menu when "yesterday" was highlighted. Can't figure out how to put that folder (or collection site or whatever it is) back on the list. Thanks for any help you can provide.

This folder will be automatically created and populated with your today content tomorrow.

I installed Yosemite on an external disk. It was simpler than I thought.
Normally when you upgrade OSX, it downloads an installer, which autostarts, updates OS X, and deletes itself when it's done. That's not what's going to happen if you follow these steps:
In Software Update, click on the link to "upgrade" to Yosemite. When the installer prompts you to "upgrade" to Yosemite, press Cmd+Q.
After you do this, the Yosemite installer will be lurking harmlessly in your Applications Folder as "Install OS X Yosemite" and Yosemite will not be installed.
Re-partition an external drive (or flash drive) for HFS+ Journaled. Click on Options and specify GUID.
Double-click on the installer.
Go through the normal steps. Pay attention!
When the installer prompts you for the disk where you want to install Yosemite, select the external drive.
The installer will inform you that it needs to reboot to finish the installation. Don't panic. It will reboot to the external drive.
From now on, you have two choices:
Select the start-up disk in System Preferences > Startup Disk, then reboot
Hold down Option while the computer is starting up, then select the disk
Now you can boot into Yosemite and cringe at its questionable glory and extraterrestrial color scheme. You can give it a test drive and test your applications, then decide whether Yosemite is worthwhile. Also, since this is a throw-away installation, you can attempt to customize it.
If you decide to upgrade to Yosemite anyway, you won't be able to get it from Software Update any more. This is actually a good thing, because it saves you a 5GB download. Use the "Install OS X Yosemite" program in the Applications folder.

If you can't find them on any of your homescreens or app folders, and you can't find them via the spotlight search screen (swipe your first home screen to the right), then are they hidden by Settings > General > Restrictions > Installing Apps and iTunes being set 'off' ?

Try to do via iCloud:

First of all do you have a CD/DVD in the drive? The icon is only shown on the desktop when there is a CD/DVD in the drive.
If you have a CD/DVD in there, then check that CD/DVDs, and iPods is ticked in Finder/Preferences/General.

Do you mean you no longer see the option for Podcasts in the menu of the iPod?

If you're talking about the icon for the default Mail app that is part of iOS, it can't be deleted. She might have moved it somewhere, but the app can't be removed from the iOS device the way some third-party or optional Apple app can be removed.
Look carefully through all the home screens and folders. It's in there somewhere. If you really, really can't find it, try restarting the phone. If that doesn't work, perform a factory restore operation by connecting it to your computer running iTunes.

If you don't have an Installer disk then you can't install without a purchase. Do you have the grey SystemRestore disks that came with your Mac? It's on that. No, iPhoto is not part of Lion.
