I activated my new iPhone, but my old one is still activated...

Ok, so I bought an iPhone 5S and just received it in the mail today. I followed the instructions, backed up my phone & contacts and turned off my old iPhone. I called to activate my phone and within minutes my new phone was active. I turned back on my old iPhone after this was all finished to erase everything and get it ready to recycle, but the phone is still active! I still have service, texts are coming through and it's as if nothing changed. I even tried resetting it and seeing if that would make a difference, but it did nothing.
I just tried calling Verizon to ask what the deal is, but they stop doing customer service at 11 pm. I guess I'll have to wait until the morning unless anyone here has any ideas of what to do?

I assume you had a 4s and upgraded to a 5s here some info on Factory Resetting a 4s

If you are talking about app updates, these are permanently tied to the Apple ID used to purchase the app, regardless of the ID on your phone in Settings>Store. The only way to stop the prompt for your older ID would be to delete these apps from your phone. The ID in Settings>Store is the one being used for current purchases, not updates of apps purchased using a different ID.

Not sure where you backup to.
ITunes keeps the latest backup only.
Icloud keeps the 3 last backup.

Apps will always be tied to the account from which they were purchased and will always need to be updated using that account.

Well, the obviously solution is to use separate Apple ID's for iCloud.

After going to a turorial at apple store, I changed the appleid on my devices. However; on my mac under the icloud the old appleid remains. I tried to delete it and add a new one but it will not delete, claiming it is the primary one. I set up an new one with the new appleid but note etc will not merge on it.

Just upgraded to a new iPhone. I have lost ALL my Shazzammed music and Grocery IQ data. I would REALly like to get that info on my new phone. If not, I'd rather have my old one!
BTW--I have the actual apps and all my contacts etc. bc I did a successful transfer/sync from iTunes. It's just the DATA that was part of my apps that is missing. Thx.

I upgraded to the new firefox but the old one is working what do I do ?

I downloaded the new version of firefox- click the install and waited-the new folder and icon was on my desktop. Yay, then I upgraded an adobe flash in which I had to shut down everything. Once the computer came back the new firefox was gone and the old icon was sitting in the dock( I didn't know it was the old one until the opening firefox page asked me to upgrade again). I just don't want 5 downloaded firefox's in my HD ( which might be happening too)

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

It is possible that there is a problem with the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.

Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note or bookmark them).

Have you tried getting the password reset for your old account : http://iforgot.apple.com ? All of the content that you downloaded with that account will remain tied to that account, so only that account will be able to redownload its content and/or download updates to its apps.
What id shows at the bottom of the Featured tab in the App Store app on your phone ? If it's the old one, and you don't want to use that account, then tap on it and log out of it and then log back in with your new account.

New iphone (replacing an old one) keeps asking me for an old friend's apple id

I just replaced my old iPhone 4s with a new one (new number, new job, etc.) After downloading all of my info from the cloud and setting the new one up with my apple id, everything seemed fine. Now, everytime I wake the phone up or open my messaging app or frankly any other app, it asks me for a very old (like 5 years ago, I guess there are songs in iTunes??) apple id. I don't have, nor do I want, the password to that account- is there a way to figure out what needs that password so I can delete it??

There is no easy way to do this.
You can take all of the apps and music off the phone and sync bits back to the phone to determine which song/app requires the other Apple ID.
You could also try viewing the properties of each download in iTunes to find out which Apple ID made the purchase.
In iTunes go to your library > Click on a app or song > Right Click > Get Info > Summary view which Apple ID made the purchase.

How can i retrieve photos that have been lost when I've synced my new iPhone to my old one

I upgraded my iPhone 5 to an iPhone 6 yesterday, and got carried away taking photos. I've just synced it with my iTunes so i could get all my apps etc from my 5 onto my new 6. It has deleted all the photo's I'd taken… Can and How can I get them back???

IF you backed up the phone prior to deleting the photos, you may be ableto restore them using your backup. If you had photo stream turned on, they may be in your photo stream.
