I added a PDF to ibooks on my iMac, but it won't sync to iPhone.

I have a new 5S, i have upgraded my imac to Lion and Mavricks.
everything else works fine....
but when i add a PDF to the new iBooks, it wont show up anything on my iphone ibooks....
whats going on?

If the book won't open then try deleting it from the bookshelf and re-download it via the Purchased tab in the ibookstore in the iBooks app and see if you can open that.

Thanks for the reply. I did think that could be the case but then other books would also show up as apps on phone but not counted as an app. Maybe book apps downloaded from the app store work in this way whereas books bought from the ibooks app show in ibooks and not as apps.
I guess that would make sense, it must be because they are books but downloaded from the app store rather than the book store so they are visible as an app but don't actually get counted as an app.
Would you think that's the case too?

Only the advertisement from the video plays.

The cloud icon means that they are only in the cloud, they aren't currently stored on your iPad, so there isn't anything to delete. You can turn off the showing of the books that are in the cloud via Settings > iBooks > Show All Purchases 'off'

PDF files on iPad's iBooks won't sync with iPhone's iBooks

I have many downloaded PDF files saved in my iBooks app on my iPad. They are work documents so nothing that I purchased from the store. I have everything set to sync in my iBook settings, but when I look in iBooks on my iPhone, only the folders synced, not the actual documents. Is there a way to get them to sync?

Even though they aren't iTunes purchases you should be able copy them from your iPad to your computer's iTunes via File > Transfer Purchases (File > Devices > Transfer Purchases if you have iTunes 11 on your computer) - you can then sync them to your iPhone.
The sync bookmarks and sync collections settings won't copy items between your devices, it will just keep the the books/PDFs that you have on both devices in-line with each other e.g. if you have a PDF on both and you move it into a collection on one device then it will put into the same collection on the other device.

Cannot print PDF from iBook G4 and iMac G5 to HP printer

I cannot print any PDF documents or any downloads from websites that convert to PDFs onto our HP 6110. All other applications or documents do work. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?

Some more information would be useful:
What application are you using to print, Preview, Adobe Reader, Acrobat, or something else?
What happens when you try to print? Can you not select it from the File menu? Does something go wrong with the Print dialog box? Is it something that happens afterwards?

IBooks and podcasts won't sync between iPhone, iPad, MacBook Pro

I have an iPad 2, an iPhone 5s and a MacBook Pro (Mavericks) - all are on the cloud and wifi sync, all permissions are there, settings are correct. The iBooks issue I had was between the MacBook and the iPad - I put some PDF files into iBooks on my MacBook and when I went to the iPad they were not there. Even after syncing, connecting directly to the MacBook via USB - nothing. They are there now, but I have no idea how that happened. I tried that a week ago.
This morning on my commute into work, I added a couple of podcasts to the Apple podcast app on my iPhone 5s. When I got into the office and went to the podcasts app on my iPad, they were not there. Even after syncing on wifi (I don't have my MacBook with me so I haven't tried direct syncing).
Am I misunderstanding how the wifi syncing works altogether? Or is my iPad the issue? Any help is appreciated!

If you are having an issue with syncing your new iPhone with the information that is in iCloiud (and on your other devices) we should make sure that iCloud is set up correctly on the iPhone. See this page for directions -

IBook connects to 'net, but MacBook won't

I have an iBook G4 (wife's Mac) and a newer Macbook. Both connect to the 'net via a wireless router (D-link DIR-615). This morning, for no apparent reason, I suddenly was unable to connect to the web on my Macbook. The iBook connects with no problem. I tried restarting the Mac, the cable modem and the router, but that didn't work.
When I run diagnostics, it gives me a 'green light' for Airport, Aiport Settings, and Network Settings, but says the ISP failed. When I plug into the ethernet port from the router, it still doesn't work! The only way I can connect is if I unplug the router altogether and plug in the ethernet directly from the modem to the Macbook. Any tips??

No responses yet, so I'm just adding this info in case it helps someone figure out what my issue might be.
I brought my Mac to work and was able to connect to the wireless network w/ no problem. I'll take it home tonight to see if that someone resolved this mysterious issue, but I'm not counting on it...

PDF won't sync to iPhone

Dragged a .pdf onto the iTunes icon in the dock. Connected iPhone & opened iTunes. .pdf appears in Books. Selected it to sync. Synched. Appeared momentarily on phone, then disappeared. I had deleted the original file from my desktop. Is this a bug or a feature? All software is current

Open that link and tap on the word iPad in the title. A grey bar will appear at the top of that cover page and on the right side it wall have a block that says - Open in iBooks. If you click on that block, the file will open in iBooks and it will stay there in iBooks unless you delete it. You can always open iBooks and open that PDF if you do this correctly.
Try again and report back.

I added alt text to an Indesign created graphic but it won't show in Acrobat

I created these little check boxes in InDesign, basically a stroked box with a copied-from-Illustrator check mark. The box and the check are grouped and anchored to the each paragraph where the item has been completed (checked). I made sure the content of the frames were designated as graphic and not text or unassigned. I then click on the group, open object export options and assign a alt text desription (using custom setting), such as "completed" or "previiously completed", which is a gray check mark. InDesign shows the alt text, but when I export to Acrobat the PDF does not display the alt text. It sees it as a graphic but will not show the alt text that I created in InDesign.
The only way I have found to fix this is to create the entire box and check in illustrator and import as "real" graphic. This is kinda of pain to reimport and reposition all the boxes, when InDesign has the ability to create these simple graphics.
Any clue as to why Acrobat will not show the alt tags?

Recently Added playlist won't sync to iPhone?

Ever since I started using iCloud/ iTunes Match, none of the songs on my recently added playlists show up on my iphone. As in the playlist title itself carries over, but when i open it on my iphone it's completely empty.
Please help! much appreciated.

I had a very similar issue (same playlist). After several frustrating hours of various combinations I was able to sync by changing the options to "manuall sync.." and then "dragging and dropping" the needed playlist from the iTunes Playlist list to the iPhone button (on my itunes setup/view that was from the far left column list of all of my playlist in iTunes to the far upper right "iPhone" button). To sum up "checking" the playlist and syncing didnt work, "drag and droping" the playlist did... at least for now... then I unselected the "manually manage" in the options and re-synced and all playlist were synced correctly. Hello, I downloaded the book " The Fault In Our Stars" by John Green about 5 days ago. And till this day it is stuck downloading. I have another John Green book that i bought but it is also stuck downloading. I've tried restarting my Mac Book Air and redownloading the books but they still get stuck. Syncing PDFs between iBooks and iOS devices

Hello everyone,
I just ordered an iPad Air. I wanted one for a long time, and one of the things that I am most after is the ability to read PDF documents anywhere I want. I have been organizing my eBooks and PDFs in iBooks, and I was under the impression that this meant I would be able to see the collection on my iOS devices and download them to those devices when I needed them. But I guess it's not that simple, is it?
As I don't yet have the iPad with me, I have been trying to sync what I see in iBooks to my iPhone 4S, but I only see one mqtching book on both the Mac and the iPhone, and that's one book purchased from iBooks itself. Then there's one free ebook that was also downloaded inside iBooks, from the computer, but does not show in the iPhone. Adding to this, none of the PDFs I have organized inside iBooks will show up on the iPhone.
Am I doing something wrong? Any of you successfuly organizing ebooks and PDFs in iBooks and seeing them on your iOS devices? What should I try?
I'm on the latest Mavericks update and all the mentioned apps are updated. Also, the iPhone is running the latest update of iOS7.

Well, nevermind. It suddenly decided to start syncing, somehow! Not sure what I did to make it work though.
Anyway, this is still not what I was expecting. The only way to synchronize what I have in iBooks with the iOS devices, is through iTunes, and I need to be in the same network, right?
I thought this would be something more like iTunes Match, where I could have all my ebooks and PDFs up in the Cloud and download them to my devices whenever I needed them.
Do you know if there's any app providing this type of system?
