I can´t install iTunes , I become the message hKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE32\Software\Classes\.m4b\Open\WithList\iTunes.exec.you must have privilleges, Can somebody explain me  how I must become such a privillege?

This has to do with permissions in the registry. Take a look at the post by Primus Bodacious in this link

  • Cannot install Mac OS X lion because when installing I recieved the following message:The software could not be verified. It may have been corrupted or tampered with during downloading"  What can I do

I have not been able to install Max OS X Lion because in the process the following message was displayed:
"THE SOFTWARE COULD NOT BE VERIFIED. IT MAY HAVE BEEN CORRUPTED OR TAMPERED WITH DURING DOWNLOADING"
    How can I solve this?
Note: I trashed the download and tried re-downloading but this effort was unsuccessful.

Since writing my original post I decided to send the following message to Mac App Store Customer Support:
"I have had to download this file from the app store at least ten (10) times. I try to install the file but I keep getting the message "The software could not be verified. It may have been corrupted or tampered with during downloading."
I then delete the same file and try another attempt at a different time of day. Most recently following Apple Support's advice I contacted my ISP to clear the file cache but they could only clear my browser cache. I have deleted my com.apple.appstore. folder which contains app store cache,  also com.apple.appstore.plist and tried again to no avail. I have wasted hours doing all this and I now want my money back please. You can keep this software update until you release it on disk like Snow Leopard which installed like a dream. I'm very disappointed with Apple that they expect the purchaser to do all the work trying to diagnose their software installation issue. Nice idea but poorly executed has been my experience."
I received this message which has confirmed my refund request:
Julia here from the iTunes Store. I understand that you received an error message and have been unable to install OS X Lion. I know how eager you must be to have this resolved, and I will be happy to help in any way that I can.
Please accept my sincere apologies for the frustration this download has caused. Since you were unable to enjoy this purchase, I have gone ahead and issued a refund. In five to seven business days, a credit of £20.99 should be posted to the credit card that appears on the receipt for that purchase.
If you have any other questions or concerns regarding this issue, please reply so I can assist you further. Thank you for being an iTunes Store customer.
    Sincerely,
    Julia

Perhaps I'll wait for a disk to become available or see if a download to a pen drive at an Apple store is possible.

  • When I start iTunes I get this message: 'The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDl and DVDs are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall iTunes.' It doesn't work.

I have tried reinstalling numerous times but I keep getting the same message and I cannot use the burning feature.  I have other burning software on my computer but it has always been there.  This problem just started recently.  Please help!

    This same thing happened to me about two months. ago. I bought a new harddrive for my previously-fried netbook, and when I installed iTunes it gave me the missing registry business. So I came online and looked for solutions. This solution led to a different 'can't burn' error in iTunes, and I found a solution to that one, and it was like I was running in circles for a solid two weeks. Finally I managed to fix the problem, but after trying it hundreds of times I couldn't tell you which solution won out. Well, everything was fine and dandy, until I upgraded iTunes last night. Now its back to the same registry settings problem, and I want to maim something. Someone please help me ;___;
I'm running Windows 7 by the way, on an Acer aspire netbook

  • Error when upgrading to 10.5 on Windows7. Message is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE32\Software\Classes\.m4b\OpenWithList\itunes.exe. Verify that you have sufficent access to that key. I am an administrator but cannot get to that key for some reason.

I tried creating a new user account and installing and it would not work either. I tried the uninstall recommendation from Apple and that did not work. I am running out of ideas. I even had my IT look at it and they said Apple sometimes locks down their registries for some reason.

This isn't really my thing but no one else has replied.
A few thoughts, if this is an upgrade, are you using the same account to do the upgrade as you used for the original install? If now it might be worth trying the other account.
Although you account has admin status, it might be worth logging in as THE adminstrator, if you haven't done that.
Although you don't have HKEYLOCALMACHINE\Software\.aif\OpenWithProgIds, you didn't say if you have HKEYLOCALMACHINE\Software\.aif - if you do it might be worth checking permission there.
If this is an iTunes 7.5 upgrade problem - you didn't say - it might be worth gettting the details to royb - see this post:

  • After installing the maverick i get this message when i try to open   iTunes: If you want to run i 64bits modus you must remove the mark:Open in 32bits modus. But i have removed the 32bits and i still can't get it to work!Have maces

after installing maverick i get this message when i try to open itunes:Unmark the 32bits modus-but i have unmarked it several times! The new iTunes requires 64bits modus so what shall i do?

I upgraded my 2007 iMac (20") to Maverick. Should never have done this! Lost mail, lost my mail archive, lost numerous programs/applications, lost all my installed hardware, spend 4 days on getting it running again with the (supreme) help of Apple Care. However it should not have happened at all!
iMac Computers with less than 4Gb of internal memory (as explained by Apple Care), or less than (estimated) 150Gb of free disc-space should not upgrade! Simple as that and the App Store should warn you about that and not simply let you pick up your free copy of Maverick!

  • I'M GETTING THIS ERROR MESSAGE WHEN I TRY TO OPEN THE ITUNES

im getting this message when i try to open my itunes "the itune library. itl file it's locked, on a locked disk, or you do not have write permission for this file" it was was working fine but all of a sudden it this issue just happen, i have windows 7.

I had the same problem as mentioned above. 2 Users, sharing the same iTunes account. Found following solution:
Check sharing and permission for the shared iTunes folder. In my case under HD->Users->Shared->iTunes
Also check all permissions of the underlying folders and especially *iTunes Library Database file*. In my case directly in the iTunes directory
For whatever reason, that file had no sharing. I added my wife's user name with Read /Write permission and it works again.
I guess a bug in the update. It worked fine for a long time before the update.

These ones are typically caused by underlying problems on the PC that also often cause Windows Updates to fail to install. If we can fix the Windows Update trouble, we can usually get the iTunes trouble cleaned up en passant.
Go into your Windows update and try to check for new updates. If updates install, stock up on the ones you're behind on, restarting the PC if requested to do so. After the restart, try installing iTunes again. Does it go through this time for you?
If windows updates fail to install, go into your Update History and doubleclick the failures. What alphanumeric codes appear for you? (For example, 8007000B.)

I'm getting this message when I try to open iTunes: This copy of iTunes is corrupted or is not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes. (-42037) What do I do?

Do a back up then try reinstalling.
You should always back up before do an update, upgrade, anything with the system in case something goes wrong. That way you still have a current copy of your data.
Try starting in safe mode, then running the update. This will disable most 3rd party sofwarelike anti virus and other things prople put on their machines that can cause problems.
    Safe mode:
Power off, power on holding the shift key, continue to hold until you see the progress BAR then re;ase and allow to finish booting. Note this will take longer than a regular boot. Login and try running software update or use the link here to download. Use an ethernet connection if possible as it is much less prone to corruption than wireless.

After download and install logout and restart normally.

I'm trying to install Mavericks and got this message: You need 4.94 GB of available space to download OS X Mavericks. Remove items from your startup disk to increase available space. How do I do this?

With Macs and OS X, you shouldn't let the hard drive get below 15 GBs or less of free data space.
If it does, it's time for some hard drive housecleaning.
Follow some of my tips for cleaning out, deleting and archiving data from your Mac's internal hard drive.
Have you emptied your iMac's Trash icon in the Dock?
If you use iPhoto, iPhoto has its own trash that needs to be emptied, also.
If you store images in other locations other than iPhoto, then you will have to weed through these to determine what to archive and what to delete.
If you use Apple Mail app, Apple Mail also has its own trash area that needs to be emptied, too!
Look though other Apple Mail folders like the junk mail and delete the mail that is in there. Look through your sent items folders and see there is any mail in there that can be deieted.
Delete any old or no longer needed emails and/or archive to disc, flash drives or external hard drive, older emails you want to save.
Other things you can do to gain space.
Once you have around 15 GBs regained, do a search, download and install OmniDisk Sweeper.
This app will help you locate files that you can move/archive and/or delete from your system.
STAY AWAY FROM DELETING ANY FILES FROM OS X SYSTEM FOLDER!
Look through your Documents folder and delete any type of old useless type files like "Read Me" type files.
Again, archive to disc, flash drives, ext. hard drives or delete any old documents you no longer use or immediately need.
Look in your Applications folder, if you have applications you haven't used in a long time, if the app doesn't have a dedicated uninstaller, then you can simply drag it into the OS X Trash icon. IF the application has an uninstaller app, then use it to completely delete the app from your Mac.
Download an app called OnyX for your version of OS X.
When you install and launch it, let it do its initial automatic tests, then go to the cleaning and maintenance tabs and run the maintenance tabs that let OnyX clean out all web browser cache files, web browser histories, system cache files, delete old error log files.
Typically, iTunes and iPhoto libraries are the biggest users of HD space.
move these files/data off of your internal drive to the external hard drive and deleted off of the internal hard drive.
If you have any other large folders of personal data or projects, these should be archived or moved, also, to the optical discs, flash drives or external hard drive and then either archived to disc and/or deleted off your internal hard drive.
    Good Luck!

  • When trying to go into itunes I get this message "Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (itmss) isn't associated with any program"

When trying to log into itunes i get this message:
Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (itmss) isn't associated with any program.
I had to reset Firefox (due to slowness and shockwave error message that I kept getting). Itunes was downloaded after the reset, but I can't get into it? Any ideas?

I ran into this same problem after Firefox auto-updated to v24! I'm on the Beta Channel and I had Firefox set to automatically update.
What I did to correct the problem:
    1. Turned off all automatic updating.
    Options> Advanced> Update [tab]
    Firefox updates
[x] Check for updates, but let me choose whether to install them
[ ] (unchecked) Use a background service to install updates
    I also unchecked;
[ ] Search Engines (I will turn this back on after I'm done with my experiment.)
    2. Googled 'Firefox v23 download', downloaded and installed: Firefox_Setup_23.0b1.exe (version 23, Beta 1)
Since I reverted back to v23, I haven't had any problems.

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

When trying to install updates, I get this message:The operation couldn’t be completed. (NSURLErrorDomain error -1102.)(102). What does that mean?

It appears Apple’s download servers are ‘overwhelmed’ today.  I couldn’t download the newest iTunes update or IOS 7 and there are a lot of discussions today about not being able to download. One poster said they had chatted with App Store support who confirmed the problem.
What updates? Here is a link for iTunes which worked for me.
