    You need to close all iexplore.exe instances, even if they are running in the background.  Use the Task Manager's Processes tab.

  • Installing Flash Player asks me to close Internet Explorer when no IE windows are open

    I then have to quit the install and takes me to a download unsuccessful screen.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

    It sounds like you have something running (most likely hidden away in your system tray) that is utilizing Internet Explorer.  I'd recommend looking through the applications that are running and try temporarily quitting as many as possible.
    In addition, please try downloading the stand alone installers from here:

  • Problem installing Flash Player-says to close Internet Explorer, but it's already closed

    I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Flash Player, and have checked that it is installed and enabled, but still the application that requires Flash Player asks for it to be installed.  When I try to install it again, it says to close Internet Explorer and retry, which I do, but to no avail.  Any ideas would be much appreciated!

    Empty?  Did you click on the Processes tab?
    Try the following: download the offline installer from http://helpx.adobe.com/content/help/en/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player- windows.html#main-pars_header and save it to disk.  Restart Windows, then before doing anything else, run the downloaded installer.

  • Close internet explorer message first when installing CS3 from disk.

    When I attempt to install CS3 from my disk onto my new computer (with Windows 8) I keep getting an error message to close Internet Explorer first.  It is already closed.  What can I do?

    1.  restart your computer, then install.
    2.  you may need to use compatibility mode to install.
    3.  you may need to right click the setup file and click "run as administrator".

    Hello,
    Welcome to Adobe Forums.
    You can download offline installer for Flash Player from here : http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-pla yer-windows.html#main-pars_header
    Before you run the installer, make sure Internet Explorer is closed.
    If it still prompt you to close IE, then this might help : http://forums.adobe.com/message/5393818#5393818

  • Trying to install adobe flash player onto mac using internet explorer 5.2 for mac.

    Trying to install adobe flash player onto mac using internet explorer 5.2 for mac.  But the page that I need keeps telling me that Adobe Flash Player still needs to be installed.  I've downloaded AFP several times, and I see it installed correctly on my mac, but the same error message keeps coming up.  All of the support that I see is either for mac or for Internet Explorer, but not for both and not for the version of Internet Explorer that I am using.  Please help.  Thank you.

    Wow, IE for Mac is pretty old.  What Mac OS are you using?  I'm 99% sure you're going to need an older version of the Player, but I'll need to know the OS version to figure out which one.

  • Can I install windows essentials in firefox instead of internet explorer

    recently installed windows essentials on internet explorer in order to use windows live mail, but would like to have it on firefox. Didnt see a firefox option on the download.

    By default if AV software is installed Firefox will use it for instance to scan downloads. Firefox has its own rudimentary Phishing and malware protection
    * see http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/security/#secure
    ** http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/phishing-protection/firefox2/
    IIRC Windows Essentials does not specifically install on a single browser. I think my Windows machines have that installed and firefox uses it.

  • On My web site the adobe flash player replaced with a white box "need to install adobe flash player and Java script" both installed. My web site fine using Internet Explorer and Chrome.

    I've updated to Firefox ver 5.
    Gordon

    The FlashPlayer plugin used for Firefox is entirely separate from the one that Internet Explorer uses. You system details do not show Flash Player is installed.
    With flash player installed and enabled if you go to the Adobe website it will check that FlashPlayer works, also you will be able to download and install from there if necessary. The site page also has links to troubleshooting information. http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
    Javascript is not the same as Java. Javascript, which is what you need enabled at present is a feature of the firefox browser that needs enabling in order for it to handle the javscript files.
    * use '''Firefox button -> Options ->| Content| -> [] Enable Javascript'''
    * see [[Javascript]]

  • When i try to run Firefox i get a error message "cannot run unicode version of ATL80.dll install ANSI" this only happens with firefox,internet explorer, Opera and everything else run fine, have re-installed firefox but still the same. run fine.

    unicode ATL80.dll error message when trying to run firefox
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == User Agent ==
    Opera/9.80 (Windows NT 5.1; U; en) Presto/2.6.30 Version/10.60

    I had this problem as well. I found that somehow the firefox.exe file had been set to run in compatibility mode for Windows 95.
    To check this on your system Browse to the firefox folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\) and right click on the file "firefox.exe".
    Select "Properties" and then the "Compatibility" tab. Make sure the option "Run this program in compatibility mode for" is UNCHECKED.
    Then try running Firefox as normal. Worked for me.
    Best of Luck.
