I already have a mobile me email address, i can't seem to transfer to iCloud

When trying to use email for icloud, its askes me to create an email address. i already have a @me.com address but when i write that in, it says that emails address is already in use............YES by me.....grrrr

I have experienced the exact same problem. There is no good solution to these poorly designed and overly complex login protocols. After unsuccessfully trying to retrieve my password or change my password I finally set up a new email account, a new Apple ID and a new iTunes account.
I know it is not a good solution, but it worked.

I have loaded my Firefox bookmarks into Internet Explorer Favorited. I also uninstalled Safari.

first time you connect it to the computer you sync the iphone with it should ask if you want to setup the ipad as a new device or restore it with a backup of another ios device
if you say yes the content of tne iphone will be put on the ipad
if you later one wish to do the same thing one can restore it by navigating to the ipad in itunes on the computer and choose to restore it there to the backup of the iphone
if you don't want to restore then you can just mark the apps in itunes you wish to sync to the ipad
if you don't sync with a computer then you can't be charged for an app more then once it's tied to your appleID and any attempt to buy it again will result in a free download
one can also access apps tied to the ios device under purchasees in the app store app

Does an Apple ID have to be an email address or can it be any combunation of letters/numbers?

I was sure I new my Apple ID. But after my PC died and I installed iTunes on a new PC Apple dont seem to recognise my old ID. When it asks me to reset my password it says my b'day does not match its records and when I try to reset using email, I never receive the email. I was sure my ID was the first part of my email address, without the @gmail.com, but I'm going nuts to try and transfer my apps back into iTunes.

You may be right - I think there was a time back prior to 2008/2009 when you could make your AppleID be something other than the primary ID. Regardless, for the past several years it has only been possible to make an AppleID using a full verifiable email address as the AppleID.
Did you try logging in at Manage Your ID section at https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/ ? If that AppleID is still valid, you should be able to log in to it and change it there. Otherwise, try contacting Apple via the iTunes ExpressLane support page - https://expresslane.apple.com/GetproductgroupList.do?PRKEYS=PF4 under the Account Management section.

How do I create a new iTunes account when I already have a dysfunctional iTunes account that Apple can't seem to bother fixing?

Apple has no idea how bad their I.D. system is because they have an auto response set up that means they can stay totally uninformed about it unless you are willing to pay $59 for a one-time help service call. I only want to load up my $25 iTunes Gift Card, and to pay $59 for this is not an option for me. The problem is when I try to change my password, the email notification goes to another email address, not the email address I filed with Apple when I opened my account and there is nothing in my account setup that allows me to change this. Apple apparently does not want me to purchase or use an iTunes Gift Card, because I won't use it until Apple fixes this problem they have with their system and everytime I try to get support I get an auto response that is of no help at all; the account password change notification still goes to an email address that is not mine.

Go to appleid.apple.com, click Manage Your Apple ID, sign into your iCloud account (using the wrong email address), it should prompt you to verify it and allow you to edit your email there. If not, then it will bring you to a screen that will show you your name, your email, and any alternate emails you have. Click the edit button next to "Primary Email Address and Apple ID" and change it to your email.

ITunes store wil not acept my new Mobile Me Email address

Hi.
I have recently taken up a Mobile Me account.
My current Apple ID is [email protected]
My Old email address was [email protected]
I now have a new Mobile Me email address which I want to use with my iTunes account as I want to keep all my purchased music.
If I cancel my current iTunes store account, will I loose my paid for music and will it be useable with my mobileme account?

This does not work.
I originally had to have Apple disable my original account, which has caused multiple problems:
1. Unable to play Purchased content with my new .me account.
2. Unable to update apps on my iphone using my .me account.
Apple support say that they cannot merge the accounts which leave me with a problem.

When emailing photos from iPhoto the list of the recipients from my mail facility is not accessed so I have to enter the email address for the person again although I have the person in my email contacts

If you have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate/secondary email address) set up on your account then go to https://appleid.apple.com/ and click 'Manage your Apple ID' on the right-hand side of that page and log into your account. Then click on 'Password and Security' on the left-hand side of that page and on the right-hand side you should see an option to send security question reset info to your rescue email address.
