If you use extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) like Adblock Plus or NoScript or Flash Block that can block content then make sure that such extensions aren't blocking content.

500 Internal Server Error message with youtube viewing

Ok. Here's the issue. Many-but-not-every-time I'm using Safari and go to youtube to view videos I click on to view and this message comes up instead of the video: 500 Internal Server Error and then a page full of computer code.
This has just started to do this. How do I correct this problem?

After installing, reboot holding down CMD+s, (+s), then when the DOS like prompt shows, type in...
applejack AUTO
Then let it do all 5 of it's things.
At least it'll eliminate some questions if it doesn't fix it.
The 6 things it does are...
Correct any Disk problems.
Repair Permissions.
Clear out Cache Files.
Repair/check several plist files.
Dump the VM files for a fresh start.
Trash old Log files.
First reboot will be slower, sometimes 2 or 3 restarts will be required for full benefit... my guess is files relying upon other files relying upon other files!
Disconnect the USB cable from any UPS so the system doesn't shut down in the middle of the process.
Then... Try putting these numbers in Network>TCP/IP>DNS Servers, for the Interface you connect with...

Then Apply
DNS Servers are a bit like Phone books where you look up a name and it gives you the phone number, in our case, you put in apple.com and it comes back with 17.149.160.49 behind the scenes.
These Servers have been patched to guard against DNS poisoning, and are faster/more reliable than most ISP's DNS Servers.

Why do I get a black screen telling me to wait for 40 seconds and then to 'skip ad'?

I installed a Firefox update and since then, when I try to connect to a website, I almost always get a black screen telling me to wait for 40 seconds and then to 'skip ad'. This is very irritating and a waste of time. There are no ads to skip. Why is this happening and how can I stop it?

My mac keeps locking up it s Power mac G5 Intel using 10.6.8 OS.X. I get no warning or error messages it just locks up and the only way to get it to work again is to depress power button and restart. Its random intermittent and incredibly frustrating. I do get some screen distortion from time to time and wondered whether it may be a graphics card issue or whether it could be solved with a complete system re-install and OS upgrade?

According to everymac.com, your Mac came with Tiger, 10.4.x and can't go any higher than Lion, 10.7.x.
It would have come with gray, machine specific disks. Since there's no reason to install 10.4.x first, and then Snow Leopard over that, just purchase a retail copy of Snow Leopard for $20. What you won't get with the retail version of SL is the iLife suite (Garage Band, iDVD, etc.) that were on the original bundled disks, but you can purchase iLife on Amazon pretty cheap, and get newer versions besides.
When you get Snow Leopard, you can boot to the DVD, erase the drive and install everything clean. Hopefully, you issue is only software, and not hardware related.

I think that your Mac detects your hard disk, but the problem is that your new hard disk doesn't contain any operating system, so your Mac doesn't find any bootable partition and you see a question mark.
If your Mac came with DVDs, insert the Mac OS X Install DVD and hold the C key while your Mac is starting. Then, just install Mac OS X. If the hard disk isn't prepared to install Mac OS X, you will have to erase it using "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)". See > http://pondini.org/OSX/DU1.html

Are there any dialog boxes popping up behind your Yahoo screen?
I have intermittent problems attaching files in Yahoo mail and this is usually the reason. I'm also using an iMac (10.7.3) and this is likely the problem.
It is generally a Yahoo issue rather than a Mac problem.

When proceeding to another link or page firefox stops responding and I get a black screen with a colored border stating at the top of the page that mozilla is not reponding. Try to go back to home page and mozilla shuts down. Any help would be appreciated. Prefer to use firefox over internet explorer in which case the problem is not duplicated. IE9 works fine. I created an account just to say that firefox is not what it used to be and I'm very disappointed in it and it's developers. I've been with firefox since the day of it's launch. Every new version after firefox 2 has been a let down--- what's the point when I get the same type of ridiculous crashes and freezes? What really annoys me is when I click "new" to create a new message to send within hotmail and it freezes for about 30 seconds to a minute. This happens every time without fail! I've updated a newer version 3 times and still the same thing. I've noticed that there have been more new releases, but I'm now convinced that it's only for show--- trying to stack up to Opera. Firefox copies off of Opera a lot, but it's too bad the developers can't copy it's stability. Who wants to have to read through forums looking for a fix... who has time for that? I don't want to, but I'm really considering leaving firefox for good. Please, get it together and FIX firefox.

To try and get the paper to feed, with a flashlight or other bright light, please check the paper feed area of the printer and verify that there are no paper jams or obstructions in the printer that may be causing the error. Once this has been done, please look inside of the printer where the inks are located and ensure that there are no obstructions in there that may be causing the print head not to move freely. Next, please remove and reseat all of the ink tanks in the printer. Once all of these steps have been performed, please follow the steps below to perform a roller cleaning on the printer:
You need to prepare: three sheets of A4 or Letter-sized plain paper
1. Make sure that the power is turned on.
2. Open the paper output tray gently.
3. Select Roller cleaning.
(1) Press the MENU button.
(2) Select Setup, then press the OK button. The setup menu screen will appear.
(3) Select Maintenance, then press the OK button. The Maintenance screen will appear.
(4) Select Roller cleaning, then press the OK button.
The confirmation screen will appear.
(5) Select Yes, then press the OK button.
(6) Select the paper source to clean (Rear tray or Cassette), then press the OK button.
4. Clean the paper feed roller without paper.
(1) Follow the message to remove any paper from the paper source you selected in (6) of step 3.
(2) Press the OK button. The paper feed roller will rotate as it is cleaned.
5. Clean the paper feed roller with paper.
(1) Make sure that the paper feed roller has stopped rotating, then follow the message to load three or more sheets of A4 or Letter-sized plain paper in the paper source you selected in (6) of step 3.
(2) Press the OK button. The machine starts cleaning. The cleaning will be complete when the paper is ejected.
(3) When the completion message appears, press the OK button. The screen will return to the Maintenance screen.

I am getting a black screen when publishing in Captivate 4. I have noticed patches that care for this with later versions, but is there something available for version 4.

Thank you for your reply, I work for Citi and am personally unable to make decisions about updating our Flash player version. Is there a patch for this issue for Captivate 4?

This black screen issue was first discovered few months ago after the first Flash Player 10 release.
