I always have to switch to my network. HELP

When i turn my macbook on, all the time it connects to a network named AppleNetwork. I always have to switch it to mine. How can i set it up so it always connects to my network first.

You might try the following. Go into System Preferences, select Network, go into advanced and you will see a list of every network you have connected to. The list shows the preference order. First, move your network to the top of the list. I suspect you will see "AppleNetwork" there now. If you highlight AppleNetwork, you can delete it from the list entirely or move it down toward the bottom.

  • Always have to select my wireless network...

On my powerbook I can't figure out where I can tell it to automatically connect to my wireless network when I boot up - I always have to go up to menu bar, click on the wireless icon and select my network. There must be a way to tell it to always select it, but I sure as heck can't seem to get it work!

I have the same problem. I reviewed the knowledge base entry, but I only get options for "automatic" and "preferred networks". I lose th connection constantly and can only re-establish by manually selecting the network name from the airport pulldown list.
    Ideas?
    Thanks,

i've had black iphones in the past, and the same thing always gets messed up, the network, i will not have service what-so ever, and when my mother's iphone will be right next to me and she will have full service. Also the lock screen button/power button broke on both of my black iphones as well. i was just wondering if they would consider. Does apple have an email i could contact?

  • Always have to re-enter network key

My wifi on the macbook pro has been great. No issues keeping signal or finding signal. Only issue is when I am at my office and turn on my macbook for the first time I always have to re-enter my password to the network. I have no issue at my home. Always connect automatically to home network. Once password is entered I am good. Any way to set automatic.
Thanks in advance and apoligies if it is a stupid question. First week with a mac coming from pc.

Normally setting your Airport "Join by default" setting to Preferred networks, deleting the configuration, applying the change, and then readding the configuration will normally fix this. You can then revert back to Automatic.
If that don't work you might additionally need to remove the network password from your Keychain before readding the new configuration.

Double tap Home button, delete Mail from multitask-bar.
Do a reset (Hold Sleep/Wake and Home buttons about 10 secs or more till Apple logo appears, ignore the Slide to Power Off that appears)
Note: You will not lose any data.

  • I have a 4s from verizon. I always have trouble connecting to wireless internet. Keeps saying unable to join network. My husband has a 4 and has no trouble. What is my problem?

I have a 4s from verizon. Husband has a 4. He connects to wireless no problem. I always have trouble and cant get on. Message always says unable to join. What is my problem, faulty phone?

    Hi Hogdays,
I know how frustrating it is not to be able to connect to the internet.
Below are the troubleshooting steps to try to figure out why:
iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
I would follow the steps in order, but this section is specific to your error message:
If you're unable to join a nearby Wi-Fi network
Try restarting your Wi-Fi router by turning it off and then on again.
Note: If your ISP also provides cable or phone service, check with them before attempting this step to avoid interruption of service.
When joining an 802.11n Wi-Fi network, ensure that your router is properly configured. See this article for more information.
Reset network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Note: This will reset all network settings, including passwords, VPN, and APN settings.
    Hope this helps ....

  • Change config on one switch and have it apply to every switch on the network

    Hi Everyone,
    I was wondering:
Say you wanted to add a user to your config, but you have 30 switches in your lab and only want to configure one, but have the config propogate to all the switches.
Is this possible, and if so, what is the CLI for it?
    Thanks
    Larry

    Hi Larry,
I'm not an expert in this area but here's what I have:
    Switch Stacks
One option (if lab area allows) is physically "stacking" your switches (requires a special cable).
    The limitations are:
You can only have so many in a stack (12 max I believe)
They will need to be stacked (and therefore, that restricts your distance to devices)
If this option works for you, updating one switch updates them all because they act as one logical device.
    More on that here
    SmartInstall
However, what I believe you might be looking for is SmartInstall.
This is used for zero-touch switch deployment.
While there are other (non-Cisco solutions), this is the one I've heard of before.
    Hope that helps,
    Dan

  • I have just switched on my new 5s and gone through the intro sections. After entering my apple id, I selected the icloud update I wanted it to use (from my 4s). It is now stuck on the progress bar screen. What can I do?

I have just switched on my new 5s and gone through the intro sections. After entering my apple id, I selected the icloud update I wanted it to use (from my 4s). It is now stuck on the progress bar screen and has been for hours. Can I get it back to the original settings? I want to set it up as a new phone, until I can get on to a better wi-fi signal. Any help would be great.

    Greetings,
I've never seen this issue, and I handle many iPads, of all versions. WiFi issues are generally local to the WiFi router - they are not all of the same quality, range, immunity to interference, etc. You have distance, building construction, and the biggie - interference.
At home, I use Apple routers, and have no issues with any of my WiFi enabled devices, computers, mobile devices, etc - even the lowly PeeCees. I have locations where I have Juniper Networks, as well as Aruba, and a few Netgears - all of them work as they should.
The cheaper routers, Linksys, D-Link, Seimens home units, and many other no name devices have caused issues of various kinds, and even connectivity.
I have no idea what Starbucks uses, but I always have a good connection, and I go there nearly every morning and get some work done, as well as play.
You could try changing channels, 2.4 to 5 Gigs, changing locations of the router. I have had to do all of these at one time or another over the many years that I have been a Network Engineer.
    Good Luck - Cheers,
    M.

  • Auto switch between two networks in one location

I have two wireless basestations in my home. They run on 802.11g, but have different network names and passwords. If I have the names and passwords stored in Keychain, is there anyway to have the computer automatically switch between the networks with the best signal?
Also, is there a utility that can automatically switch between connection methods based on which one has the fastest speed (i.e. an ethernet and wifi card, maybe one is faster than the other sometimes)?

I never realized that. Why is that?
A base station acting as a relay or remote must handle the traffic wirelessly 2 times.
The relay (or remote) base station must listen for the data from the main base station.
The relay (or remote) base station must then transmit the data to the client.
This means that wireless network can only handle half the data.
Every time you add a WDS relay or remote the available bandwidth gets cut again.
Do you think you're approach is always better?
Connecting them via Ethernet will result in the full wireless bandwidth being available.

  • I am trying to setup wireless using my old dome Airport ExtremeBase station. I had previously used it about 5 years ago when I had dial up but have now switche to DSL with Windstream. I can not get connecte as ABS keeps trying to dial up(the phone number)

I am trying to setup wireless using my old dome Airport Extreme Base station. I had previously used it about 5 years ago when I had dial up but have now switched to DSL with Windstream. I can not get connected as the ABS keeps trying to dial up(the old phone number). When I tried to change my network settings an annoying popup window says "your network settings have been changed by another application'. I have no idea what the message is all about and when I close this window it immediately pops up again and prevents me -as far as I can tell -from changing my Airport settings?  I need advice on how to get this wireless setup done. Maybe a reset? or something else? I have the DSL phone line plugged into WIndsteam Seimens Speedstream 4200 modem and then the ethernet (yellow) wire from the WIndsteam Seimens Speedstream 4200 modem to the port on the dome that is a circle of dots.

1)Can you explain how using the AEBS as a bridge will work with the Seimens Speedstream4200?
As a bridge, the AEBS will basically become a wireless access point. This will allow the AEBS to provide a wireless network, but still allow the Speedstream to provide NAT & DHCP services for the wireless clients connected to the AEBS. If the AEBS was left as a router, you would have a double-NAT condition which isn't necessary bad in itself, but would create a second subnet. That would make it more difficult for clients connected to the AEBS to access clients connected to the Speedstream.
    2) Is there a link that will guide me through the steps to set the AEBS as a bridge?
You can easily reconfigure the AEBS as a bridge using the AirPort Utility.
ref: AirPort Utility > Select the AEBS > Manual Setup > Internet > Internet Connection > Connection Sharing = Off (Bridge Mode)
3)Can I just connect the DSL phone line to the AEBS and eliminate the Speedstream4200?
Unfortunately no. The AEBS does not have a built-in DSL modem. You will still need the Speedstream to provide this function.

  • Why do I have to switch from Windows Phone to Andr...

Why do I have to switch from Windows Phone to Android?
    [September 30, 2014]
This year all my friends with Windows Phone (WP) had switched to Android. Why? The Apps. I continued with WP until now because the OS is very cool (particularly the 8.1 desktop) and because I love Nokia Phones. And the new 830 and 930 models look great.
But I will buy a new Fuji X30 Camera, I need the Wifi remote app for some shoots,  I have no choice
Now, I will give a list of reasons my friends left WP because lack or applications, maybe somebody at Microsoft is listening and can revert this tendency.
    1. Bank Applications (Bancolombia APP)
    2. Giro D’Italia app from La gazzetta dello sport.
    3. Stereopinic Concert app.
    4. General Motors - Chevrolet navigation/location app.
Another annoying thing with Nokia phones in emerging markets is they don’t distribute all the accessories (headphones, wireless chargers, cases), so you have to buy them from another country make them expensive. I even met three months ago the commercial leader for Nokia here in Colombia, a group of people mentioned this, but nothing has changed since then. The updates came very late and right now I’m not able to use Cortana
I hope Microsoft starts investing hard on apps and identify that little temporal applications for just one week or month (sport events/concerts) and start to create mechanisms to get things done. They just can’t waste the 6’000.000 consumers in US and the 10% share market in some countries in Europe and in emerging markets.

I don't endorse any mobile phone brand nor receive any free stuff from them. Neither did I advertise anything. It was rather a recommendation if the starter of this thread would like ot purchase an Android phone. Censorship won't help to sell any more Lumia phones.
I cannot blame anybody who's about to purchase an Android phone. Being a Windows Mobile & Phone user since 2006 I've seen those strategic mistakes Microsoft has made when the 1st and the 2nd generation of Windows Phones were released (the price of developer account etc. etc.). It's very hard to mend those things afterwards but I sincerely hope it won't be impossible.
I'm blessed that I live in FInland because Nokia has always been considered as a Finnish mobile brand and therefore there are all those (well, almost all) necessary apps available for Windows Phone. IMO the best Nokia app has been Here Transit. I really don't need Here Drive+ because they don't bother to include speed cams and line assistance to their app. Just take a look at Navigation Europe and there you have the best possible navigation app for Windows Phone. Waze is also great and it's free. Hmm, I guess that sentence will be censored because I recommended something
I've been quite pleased with the latest Windows Phones. They haven't crashed like my Dell Venue Pro did (first Windows Phone ever) or like my Android phone, tablet and TV box. But in order to increase the market share  of Windows Phones there are two ways:
    1) good (amount of) apps, great hardware and/or
    2) double booting phone where it's possible to choose whether to boot to Android or to Windows Phone. I'd love to have that kinda phone with the goods described in 1)

  • Apple TV 2, have to switch on/off home sharing to share

Hi I have just got an Apple TV 2 (I already have an Apple TV 1). I use it with my iMac for iTunes home sharing. Everything is updated: iMac Lion v10.7.1, iTunes v10.4, Apple TV 2 v4.3. Th eApple TV 2 is wireless to an Airport Extreme, iMac is wired to it.
Ive set it up and evrything seems to work fine. However when the Apple TV went to sleep, it showed "My Library" under computers, I clicked it, it then showed the list, clicked movies, but it said "no movies are in this library" or something similiar.
I tried with all music, TV shows, Podcasts etc, and nothing. It was connected to network as have full signal. Also can browse You Tube etc. I was stuck. I decided to switch off Home sharing in settings, switched it back on, and tried again and everything was there!?!
I've now had to do this everytime I want to browse my iTunes library. Movies stream fine once connected. Is my Apple TV broken? surely not, its only a week old!?
    please help
    cheers

Seems like there's loads of other threads with same issues, not just on here, but also other forum sites. it looks like its a massive widespread problem.
Really disappointed I thought this would work fine, I have an AEBS, iMac, Apple TV thought they'd work fine.
I've talked to someone who contacted Apple direct via telephone, a Technician, and they basically gave up! they ultimately just said to reboot everything, put everything to factory default, which they did but still no good.
I was hoping this Apple TV 2 would work fine, and I was going to replace my Apple TV 1 with another, as I find I have to switch off my Apple TV 1 due to the heat issue.
