I am absolutely furious with my iPod

Hello,
After searching the support site for someone to email, all I could find was this forum. So I will put it here in hopes someone in apple support notices it. If so, please email me so we can get this sorted out.
I bought a 40 Gig iPod, in the early months of 2005 sometime. (Not sure when, but I can go back to the store and get a copy of the receipt if needed)
I loved it. It was the best product I’ve ever owned, while it worked... One day I looked at my iPod, to see the dreaded sad iPod face. No problem, I still had the 90-day warrantee.
So I pay the $40-dollar shipping fee, and get another iPod. I was surprised with awesome service, as they were quick to send the box and also quick to send it back to me. It was good.
So couple weeks after, in fact 2 to be exact, I get the sad iPod face again. Now there was a warrantee on their repair, so I paid another $40 dollar shipping fee, and this time it took a little longer to get the iPod back but it worked.
Let’s fast forward to now. I am getting the sad iPod face, as well as the folder icon and low battery icon from time to time. All of which take turns infuriating me. I won’t go through the ‘send it in for repair’ nonsense again, due to the fact that both times I sent it in, I was told both were to be free of charge. I paid $479.00 CND for this iPod, plus another $80 to get it repaired twice. I will not pay another $40, plus whatever the repair charge would be, since I don’t have the warrantee anymore.
I’ve gone through all the steps that the support site has told me- ‘the five r’s’ as they call them. I’ve reset it, tried it with another plug, restarted my computer, reinstalled everything, and I’ve tried restoring it. Nothing works.
This may be a false hope; this could be a place where no one that actually works with apple comes to help, but it’s worth a shot. Calling them is a last resort, as the only phone I have is a cell phone, and the bill would be outrageous.
I am a 17-year-old kid from Ontario Canada, going to university next year. I was looking at converting to a Mac as my main computer and buy a power book as well, but if this is what I have to go through to get some service, I may change my mind.
Thank you for your time.
Mike Smith

Calling or going to an Apple Store is probably your best bet. Otherwise you can submit info here: http://www.apple.com/feedback/ though it's usually a one way form.. they don't usually reply.
Maybe it's a Canada thing, but I've had my ipod sent out for repair (under warranty) and have never paid anything at all. I've even had parts replaced (one headphone was dead when I bought mine) and I filled out the form here: http://depot.info.apple.com/ipod/ and in 2 days received new headphones and already paid packaging to mail my defective part back to them. Ask to speak to the manager at the Apple store, you will probably get further (both stores seem to be in Toronto... hope you're nearby).

  • Absolutely Furious With Garageband Since Update

I have always gotten on well with Garageband until the last update that I've reluctantly agreed to. Now the tracks are apparently too large to send by email and I can't find a way to send it to iTunes. Not only that, but now my music software, Reason, will not open these files because it's an 'unsupported format', something that was never a problem before the last update. I don't know what the **** went on since the last update but I'm really not impressed. I am basically screwed now.
Am I just missing something here or have they changed the file format as well as what used to be an easy way of getting it onto my PC?

Which version of GarageBand have you updated to?
nd I can't find a way to send it to iTunes.
Does this no longer work? http://help.apple.com/garageband/iphone/2.0/index.html#chs39284d66
Send a GarageBand song to iTunes
Tap the Navigation button in the control bar, tap My Songs, then tap Select.
Tap the song you want to send, then tap the Action button .
    Tap Share Song via iTunes.
    Do one of the following:
To send the song as a GarageBand song, tap GarageBand.
To send the song as an audio file, tap iTunes, then tap Share.
After you tap the iTunes icon, you can choose the quality of the file GarageBand sends to iTunes. You can also add artist, composer, and title information that appears in iTunes.
Sync your iPhone or iPod touch with your computer. In iTunes, the exported song appears in the Documents list in the File Sharing area when GarageBand is selected.
    Do one of the following:
Drag the song from the GarageBand Documents list to the Finder.
Click Save As, navigate to the location where you want to save the song, then click Save.
You can open the GarageBand song in GarageBand on your Mac, or play the audio file in iTunes (or any compatible audio application) on your computer. GarageBand songs cannot be opened on a Windows computer.
How do you export the songs to Reason, if Mail and iTunes Export did not work?
Not only that, but now my music software, Reason, will not open these files because it's an 'unsupported format', something that was never a problem before the last update.

  • Absolutely furious with BT changing our bill amoun...

Can someone explain to me why BT can suddenly change the billing amount every 3 months? When we signed up for BT 3 years ago we signed up for Vision and Broadband under the understanding that it was going to be a base rate of £40 a month (I understand of course if you make calls or watch films etc charges are added on).
Now BT just decide they can change our monthly amount to £74!
This has caused us trouble with the bank. We left £55 in there to make sure the direct debit of £51 (same direct debit amount as last month) would be paid and now its bounced because BT changed our direct debit to £74. So now we are going to be charged £15 for a bounced direct debit AND we have to find another £20 for NO REASON AT ALL.
Completely and utterly unacceptable. We live under a really tight budget and simply cannot have our direct debits changed. I knew when the billing changed it would cause us trouble. Its such a ridiculously complicated system! I haven't got time to be worrying about what BT are going to be doing with my account this month. This is supposed to be a service, not something that has a negative impact on my life. Why can't it just be a flat rate like it was in the beginning?
Our contract is up on August 30th and we will be leaving BT if BT cannot promise to stop changing our bill amount.

Looking at the billing page it says this:
"We need to raise your monthly paymentsbecause you're using more than before. Your new monthly payment will be £74.00 a month, starting on or just after 20 August. This new amount should cover what you're using now and let you clear the balance on this bill. And we'll keep checking your monthly payments to make sure you're not paying for more or less than you're actually using."
Why do you need to raise our monthly payments?! I want facts as to why, you can't just say we are using more then suddenly charge us £20 a month more extra!
I understand billing is done on a 3 month basis now, where we have to pay in advance (lol) for the services BT provide. This is one of the only services I pay for in advance. Electricity, Gas, Water, everything I pay for after i've used it. Not before. Anyway, I can live with that, fair enough, you need money.
So, lets look at the July to October billing period. BT wants £151. Fair enough, 150 divided by 3 = 50. WHY ON EARTH DO YOU WANT £74 A MONTH FROM US?!

  • Absolutely Furious that iTunes Keeps Changing details

I am using iTunes 12.0.1.26 on Windows 7.
I am absolutely furious with iTunes at the moment, I have tried all the answers I have seen online (turn off Sharing Library with iTunes and keping iTunes Media Folder Organised).
However, after sitting all weekend and twice going through genres and other information I have amended to make music easier to find, iTunes has still changed some of them back!
How is Bessie Smith, with Blues/Jazz songs recorded in the 30's classed as Dance Music? (I have twice now changed these songs to show they were recorded in the 30's and they should be in my genre Old Jazz), whenever I go into change the details (again for an individual track) I simply have to right click and "Get Info" and the data changes back again, this also happens if the track is played.
However, then when I exit itunes, or sometimes even switch views within iTunes the details change back to what iTunes wants them to be.
Will someone please help with this it is driving me mad. Especially after I have spent so long painstakingly organising my library of over 14,000 tracks.

To avoid metadata reverting to that downloaded from the Store (for Store purchases and if you have iTunes Match), you need to make sure that both these options in Edit > Preferences > Store are unchecked:
You'll need to exit and restart iTunes for changes to take effect.

  • Absolutely Furious - iPod Problem #4

Just got my second iPod this week, and yet again it has broken for an unexplainable reason.
It worked perfectly when I charged it from the wall, and was fine until I actually started putting my songs on it. As soon as it had finished putting songs on my iPod, the iPod went to the loading Apple screen and just whirrs away forever with the backlight flashing on and off. Hard drive clicking etc.
Now this has happened twice, and I want to know why.
I unpacked my iPod, charged it, plugged it into my computer.
It won't respond to anything and the PC doesn't recognise it at all when I connect it to the computer.
Is there any way I can flash it's memory or anything without having to use the iPod Updater thing?

    He David,
Had the same problem...got a nano as a present from my girlfriend and worked for 1 day, installed the update and it crashed....but Ihave it up and running again thanks to Havotec and TrevorQ ...here is the solution
    Solution:
"...go into My Computer with the iPod connected, right click it, wait till the right click menu comes up (could take a few minutes), click Format, wait for the Format window to come up (again, could take a few minutes), and format the iPod with the default settings there (FAT32, Default allocation size, and Quick Format NOT checked). Then open up the iPod Updater and restore the iPod. Should work fine from there."
take your time and follow each step.
    Good luck

  • ICal will no longer sync with macmini still syncs with iPhone, iPod and another mac...what happened?

iCal will no longer sync with wife's mac mini.  It works with our iPhone, iPod and and older  G5 tower.  I am using an iMac.   Nothing shows up on the mobile me calendar in her office.  I have been unable to get the shared calendar to open on her machine.  All had been well until yesterday.
    Thanks for any help.

I did restore from back-up as well. And I had thought of restoring my iPod to factory settings however...I just got my mother-in-law's old iPhone 3GS. Upon getting it from her I restored it to factory settings. After having the problems tonight syncing my iPod to iTunes I tried syncing the iPhone. It started out fine, showing it as a new device and setting it up. It shows both devices on my iTunes and then when I went to sync it I got the error message that none of the songs could be copied from my iTunes because they could not be found. But they all clearly show up in my iTunes. I had done this before when I was having the issue with my books and then I had deleted them all from iTunes and readded a few that I wanted to put on my iPod and it still wouldn't sync them. So I really don't want to take absolutely everything off my iPod and restore it to factory only to be unable to add anything from my iTunes ever again as is the case with the iPhone.

  • Itunes wont connect with my iPod?

My itunes program wont connect with my ipod. It will charge it sometimes but after a little bit of time, sometimes the ipod will say that charging is not supported with this accesory.  Also when the ipod does connect in itunes it says that an unknown error has occured when connecting to my iphone. But im connecting an ipod touch. So im really confused and thank you for any help.
Oh and its a 4th gen ipod touch that is white if that helps. i got it back in november last year.

I'm also having this problem but it seems only to have occurred once I introduced my iPad Mini to iTunes (this may have been coincidental of course!).  The cable I'm using is the one which came with my iPod Touch version 4.2.1 (bought on the 23rd of July 2010) and the cable still charges the iPod as it always has.  I don't have the luxury of being able to try logging in to iTunes on any other computer but I've tried absolutely everything that has been suggested in the support pages.  I really want to delete some of the music from this iPod but I think I need to be able to sync with iTunes to do so.  Is it just that my 3 year old iPod is just too old for the latest version of iTunes?
Any suggestions would be most gratefully accepted.

  • Newest version of universal dock appears to be incompatible with my ipod Classic 120 gb.  Remote does nothing

I purchased from Apple, a new universal dock with remote (MC746LL/A) along with the proper dock adapter for my ipod Classic 120.  According to Apple the dock works with any ipod with a dock and adapter..  The remote does absolutely nothing despite a brand new battery.  The only reason I purchased this pricey accessory was to have an additional ipod station with a remote.  I could have saved a ton of money if I didn't care about a sensor on front of the unit.  Any thoughts.

You are in exactly the same boat as I. I have the same problem. I posted a query on this forum too but no help came forth. Looks like Apple could be blocking replies to iPod Classic issues since it withdrew the product. Amazing company. But incase anyone can still access this query, please help. It will help two customers of Apple if not more.
    Awaiting help !!

  • What is going on with my iPod classic replacements?

Okay, so I'm on my 4th replacement of my iPod classics. Still having hard drive issues, the songs are skipping the iPod shuts down randomly and it has 0 allocs and bad sectors in the SMART data yet 16 retracts after 2 weeks. I'm also getting excessive vibrations and clicking from the internals all pointin to yet another failing hard drive. I'm furious this was 140 dollar swap for my old dead iPod and every iPod I've had replaced, this being the 4th for hard drive issues. I pointed out the 12 retracts it had on it before even leaving the store to the genius and he said it was fine yet now I'm getting hard drive failure symptoms again. What is going on because I'm so close to writing the attorney general for apple replacing my broken iPod with "new" iPods that I point out to be broken yet these "geniuses" think they are fine

Yep, I think that Genius, deosn't know what a lemon looks like, it is a case of bad lemon sold, since you have already pointed out the bead retract numbers.

  • Serious Problems with anything IPOD related

I've recently had trouble with my IPOD. I connect it to the computer and see the charging splash screen for a few seconds and then it stops. My computer doesent detect it at all (like it used to) and my IPOD wont even turn on. I read some troubleshooting on here and went ahead and uninstalled everything. I uninstalled quicktime, IPOD, IPOD updater, and ITUNES. I then downloaded both ITUNES and IPOD updated and in each instance I get this very very weird command line parameter:
    Command line parameters:
    /L language ID
/S Hide intialization dialog. For silent mode use: /S /v/qn.
    /V parameters to MsiExec.exe
    /UA<url to InstMsiA.exe>
    /UW<url to InstMsiW.exe>
    /UM<url to msi package>
After I receive that message I click "Ok" and absolutely nothing happens. It never did this before, I never had problems with my ipod or itunes before, nothing. I have no idea what the catalyst for all of this is. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    BUMP!!
Now when I plug my IPOD in it actually has a splash screen. It shows a folder icon with an exclamation point. I imagine it shows that because I uninstalled ALL IPOD related software. The problem is, I STILL cant install any IPOD material, I get the same error code I posted earlier over and over again.

  • Synching To Do in iCAL with my iPod touch

I enter To Do items in iCAL. They seem to appear automatically in a folder called To Do under Reminders in Mail.
However, I have not found a way to get the To Do items to appear on my iPod.
If this cannot be done by simply synching either iCal or Mail with my iPod, is there any app which can be recommended that will allow me to enter To Do items on the mac and have them appear on the iPod?

If ou turned on Settings > iCloud > Find My before it was lost, login to our iCloud account, click Find My Phone and see if it shows up.
To show Find My must have been turned on, it must be powered p, and it must be connected to the Internet.  Without all of those you will not be able to find it.

  • Can No Longer Connect Wirelessly to ITunes With My IPod Touch

While I can connect to the Internet with my IPod Touch through my router, I cannot seem to connect to ITunes wirelessly. My device only shows when I have it connected through the cable directly. The Apple help site hasn't been much good, as they suggested to completely uninstall ITunes (I followed their instructions implicitly) and re-install. Same problem. Not sure if this has anything to do with the new OS....but it's suspicious.

    Diolacles wrote:
Not sure if I was included in this question, but I'll answer anyway. My computer that I have ITunes on is hard wired into the router, which makes sense since it's on my computer desk But as I said, wireless works fine so It's logically not the IPod, it's not the router, so it has to be either the new OS or ITunes.
I have Rogers Cable and a Cisco Modem/router.

    Yep, you were included...
To add a quote, click Reply, and at the top of the reply window is a tool bar.  Click the icon to the right of the smiley face....
Funny thing is, my desktop is hard wired too, but for grins and giggles I put iTunes on one of my laptops, and used the laptop to reset my iPod to factory settings.  Wireless synch still didn't work....
What really aggravates me is when you go to the KB to find out how to troubleshoot an issue, the articles are pretty much blank.  Click here, set that, but no real explanation of how stuff works or what can cause it to break....
One thing I have noticed is the KB article says that after you tell iTunes to use Wireless Synch if you don not eject the deivce, it will stay connected when you unplug it...  I never saw that behavior....

  • I have moved my music to my new mac air but now it won't sync with my ipod or my iphone 4s

I have transferred mymusic to my new mac air from an acer laptop via an external hard drive and it's all there on the mac but now itunes won't sync with my ipod touch or my iphone 4s.
With the ipod it says 'iTunes could not connect to this iPhone. Could not connect to the device " It also doesn't show up at all in the devices section.
With the iphone it says there isn't enough space to sync even though I have experimented and unticked various things including photos which takes up a lot of space. It seems like it wants to sync with the empty space on the iphone (very small!) and not with the whole thing. I have tried various things suggested on this forum but have had no luck.

  • What's wrong with my iPod's Cover Flow??

I have an iPod Touch 3rd Gen, 32Gb, and recently updated to IOS 5.
Since then, the iPod's cover flow feature is extremely slow, doesn't flow smoothly, and crashes after a few (15-20) seconds.
Today I noted something else: some album covers appear pixelated and blurry, even though HD. Those covers looked just fine until now.
As a side note, I have in use 30 of the 32 Gb (that's a lot of music, I know). Could this be related? I never had those problems before IOS 5, though.
    What's wrong with my iPod?
    Thanks for your help!

so as I see it people with this problem have 3 options
    - Make all of your album art a maximum of 500X500 pixels
    - Wait for an IOS update that fixes the problem
    - Scrap ipods and buy another brand of music player
Using photoshop to do it with, it took me about an hour to resize, change, and resync all of my 1400 songs(86 albums)
