I am asked to Sign in with my Apple ID each time I boot my Macbook pro running the current and updated version of Yosemite

Each time I boot my Macbook Pro running a currently patched version of Yosemite I am asked to "Sign in with my Apple ID."  After that I have to approve the use of Find My Mac, and then I have to agree to the Terms and conditions of Use.   This is very annoying since I use Bootcamp a lot and it adds a fair effort to the reboot process.   Any thoughts?
Some additional clues that may or may not have bearing on this.
Once I am booted into Yosemite completely, if I open Safari (also current version)  I am told my Safari Extensions have been migrated and I have to re-enable each one individually.   They have all been disabled.   This will occur each time I completely close Safari and reopen it.
I appreciate your thoughts and suggestions everyone!   Thanks in advance.
Dave

Hi chc517,
I'm sorry to hear you are having issues with your MacBook Pro. I also apologize, I'm a bit unclear on a couple things about your specific configuration. The message you mentioned about the disk being encrypted would seem to indicate that you may have File Vault enabled. If that is the case and you are having a login issue, you would need to use the File Vault recovery key to reset your login password instead of your Apple ID, as noted in the following article:
OS X Yosemite: FileVault recovery key

I have a mid 2010 Macbook Pro running Snow Leopard and foolishly upgraded to Yosemite. Now have numerous problems.  Is it possible to go back in time with Time Machine and reinstall Snow Leopard?  Then upgrade to Lion or Mavericks?  Any other ideas on how I can exit Yosemite?

Once you get yourself back to Snow Leopard, if you still want to upgrade somewhat, I would suggest the following:
    1. Get an external hard drive that you can use for experiments with new OS versions. You could partition it into 2 or 3 partitions. You could then clone your existing Snow Leopard system to one partition using Carbon Copy Cloner (well worth $40) or SuperDuper ($25).
    2. Buy OS X Mountain Lion for $20, through the Apple online store (I don't think it's available through the App Store). Apple has decided to make it very difficult for anyone to get Mavericks unless they have already downloaded it.
You will receive two e-mails from Apple, one containing a PDF with a redemption code, and one with the password you will need to unlock the PDF. Using the code, you will download Mountain Lion from the App Store, where it will appear among your Purchased items.
After ML finishes downloading, its installer app will launch itself. When you see this launch screen, QUIT the install app immediately! Go to your applications folder, find the Install OS X Mountain Lion app, and copy it to a safe location outside of your Applications folder. Keeping one or more copies will allow you to reinstall without unnecessary aggravation if you later need or want to do that. At this point, you can re-launch the Installer in the Applications folder and let it run. You can install it on a clean partition on your external HD, or you can allow it to upgrade the Snow Leopard clone you created on your external drive, or you can do both. This should allow you to test how everything works for as long as you like.
    3. If you left yourself a free partition on your test drive, try a clean install of Yosemite and set everything up from scratch (do not migrate anything). This will allow you to see whether your problems with it were related to something in your Snow Leopard system.

  • When I try to update my youtube app, I'm asked to sign in with my Apple ID. The only problem is, it shows my sons Email instead of mine! When I go to settings my email is still there. How can I change the email when it asks me to put MY password in?

When I try to update my youtube app, I'm asked to sign in with my apple password but the email it shows is my sons! In my settings it still shows my email. Nowhere in my settings on my Ipod or if I sign in to Apple with my computer does it show his email. Can anyone help???

    - Apps are locked to the account that purchased them. Thus it appears that yor sone purchased the app.
    - To update apps you have to sign into the account that purchased the apps. If you have apps that need updating purchased from more than one account you have to update them one at a time until the remaining apps were purchased from one account.

  • I'm using a 15" Macbook Pro running OSX6.8 and cannot upgrade. I have a subscription to Adobe CC but none of these work on this so I was on with Adobe for 5 hours trying to install and launch Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Muse, and Acrobat Pro from CS

I'm using a 15" Macbook Pro running OSX6.8 and cannot upgrade. I have a subscription to Adobe CC but none of these work on this so I was on with Adobe for 5 hours trying to install and launch Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Muse, and Acrobat Pro from CS6. Well, InDesign is the only one that works and I have a ton of work due! I don't have a serial number for Photoshop or Illustrator except for CS3, and they don't work. InDesign gave me no problems. Illustrator says it can't work on this machine. Photoshop needs a serial number. I'm stumped and getting anxious and freaked out. Can anyone help? Adobe Chat is down right now.

if you have a cc subscription, close ps > sign out and then back in to your cc desktop > open ps.
    ai cs6 requires:
Multicore Intel processor with 64-bit support
Mac OS X v10.6.8 or v10.7. Adobe Creative Suite 5, CS5.5, and CS6 applications support Mac OS X v10.8 and v10.9 when installed on Intel-based systems.*
2 GB of RAM (8 GB recommended)
2 GB of available hard-disk space for installation; additional free space required during installation (cannot install on a volume that uses a case-sensitive file system or on removable flash storage devices)
    1024 x 768 display (1280 x 800 recommended) with 16-bit video card

You didn't mention any color calibration being done on your monitor.  This is an essential part of any color-correct workflow.  What are you using to calibrate your monitor (and your printer)?
Print profiles (for soft-proofing as well as printing) are for specific combinations of paper & printer.  The nine you have are each, most likely, for a common paper (perhaps mfr'd by Canon) to be used with your printer.
I don't know what you mean when you say "I choose a high standard print option".
Have you read the User Manual chapter on printing?

There is also a good appendix on calibration:

  • If I buy an external monitor (with a res of 2560x1440) will my early 2011 MacBook Pro work ok? And will it be utilising the monitors full res or not?

    Hi,
I have an early 2011 MacBook Pro. I use Premiere Pro CS5 to video edit on. It's fine but when it comes to grading it's nearly impossible on such a small screen.
I'd like to buy a 27inch external monitor (Asus, Samsung, Dell, whatever - haven't decided yet) for when I'm editing at work (which is most days). My query is regarding the resolutions. Obviously my MacBook Pro displays a resolution of 1280x800, so if I buy a monitor with a resolution of 2560x1440 for example, what gets displayed?
And also does the connecting cable make any difference? For example, if I'm connecting by Thunderbolt out to HDMI, then an HDMI to HDMI cable to the external monitor, what happens then? Or should I be using a Mini Display Port to Display Port connecting lead?
I guess all I really want to know is, will it work? But also, am I wasting my money buying an external monitor with a 2560x1440 resolution? Should I just go for one that's the same res at my MacBook Pro?
I've never really understood how these things all work!
Thanks in advance for anyones help.
    Regards,
    Phil

I think it will work.  You would need a mini displayport to (single link) DVI adapter to hook up that monitor.
Not sure what kind of problems you had with the ViewSonic but I'm guessing the Dell is probably a better monitor anyhow.

  • Can I dual boot a macbook pro running Mavericks with Snow Leopard?

I just got a Macbook Pro with quad core i7 with osx 10.9.5 but need to run software that will not run on a system higher that 10.6.8. How can I partition the drive so that I can install these?

There have been discussions in ASC about using a virtualization software to then
run an older 'server version' of Snow Leopard on a partition within a newer Mac...
You can still buy the Server version of Snow Leopard from Apple. Not sure which
virtualization software or utility you'd need to set it up, though; or if you'd also need
to use BootCamp to set-aside a partition as well.
My antiques don't have a feel that sort of thing...
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • I'm really so frustrated with videos lagging, I'm about to throw my Macbook Pro out the window. It's really becoming that bad. I've reinstalled Flash, I've tried emptying the trash in safe mode, everything. And my connection on the internet video blows.

It's worse than dialup, videos constantly freeze up and lagg for minutes. It takes me nearly a half hour to see a 4-minute video. I've heard that it can also be a quicktime addon that I can see, but cannot delete. Sorry, but I'm so ******* frustrated. I don't have a lot of money and when I bought this, I just wanted it to run right. It's been a tough year on me and this hasn't helped.
    I have a

Software is mac osx lion 10.7.5
If anyone can help me fix this problem, you'd be my ******* hero. I'm not very tech savy... but I'd appreciate any help on this.

  • HT201250 If I have a Hard Drive with files already on it, will backing up my MacBook Pro delete the files already on the Hard Drive?

I have recently bought a Hard Drive to store files that can no longer fit on my MacBook Pro. I also want to use this Hard Drive as a back up for my entire computer. Will backing up my computer delete the files i already have on my Hard Drive??????

    It shouldn't.
If you are planning to use Time Machine, then no, it will never overwrite files that aren't part of an old Time Machine backup; only old data put there by Time Machine will ever be touched by Time Machine.

  • Can I take a canadian macbook pro to the UK and use it with a UK magsafe power lead?

I am moving to canada for 6 months and want to get a macbook pro over there. Will I have any power conversion problems when I bring it back to the UK? Can I use a UK magsafe macbook pro power lead without any changes or problems?

The only differences I can see between the Canadian English and British keyboards is the mapping of  the alt and shift+alt modifiers to the symbols and diacritical marks, and there are few differences even there.
    If you go to;
System Preferences > Language and Text > Input Sources tab. Top of the left column, tick (check) "Keyboard and Character Viewer", Bottom of window next to search field, tick "Show input menu in menu bar"
and; System Preferences > Keyboard > Keyboard tab; tick "show keyboard and character viewers in menu bar"
You can use the the input menu to switch between layouts at will and use the keyboard viewer to see the differences.

  • Sign up with different apple ID to update an app

I want to update an application from the app store, but when I clicked the "update", i'm asked to sign in with an apple ID that was used to make the first purchase of the app. anyone knows what does that mean?since I never make any purchase with different apple ID. i just changed the country as i moved to The U.S. two weeks ago (the former country/region was Indonesia). Does it cause a problem?thanks a lot

Yeah but I always use the same apple ID since the first time I made a purchase. I just changed my country from Indonesia to United States.
So what should I do? I've tried to change the country to Indonesia but the result was the same. I still could not update any app in my mac.
    thanks

  • How do I get Snow to work with MacBook Pro running Tiger?

I have a MacBook Pro running Tiger (obviously), and have been trying to get my Snow base station (a.k.a. Dual Ethernet) to work with it, but couldn't.
After hours of searching these pages, Apple Support and Google, I found this: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301510
So...it seems like it can't be done. The question now is...what do I do? The Support page doesn't give me any help
    Anyone have any tips?

Just to confirm, n5k, the article 301510 says, 'To administer the original AirPort Base Station (Graphite) or second-generation AirPort Base Station (Dual Ethernet) from a Mac OS X 10.4 "Tiger" computer, you must use AirPort Admin Utility'. It doesn't say it can't be done at all, just that that neither of the Airport Setup Assistants will work.
I'm having the same problem as you, accessing the Internet from a MacBook Pro running OSX 10.4.6 (yes, obviously) through a Snow Base Station. Now I am wondering if we will be helped by the MacBook Pro SMC (whatever that stands for) Firmware Update which I am downloading now.
