I am attempting to load the latest software on my niece's iPod Touch on my PC but the sync is taking forever - 1 hour plus so far? Is this normal?

I have set up another user screen on my PC (MS Windows 7) & downloaded iTunes and then downloaded the latest software version. The sync has taken over an hour so far, is this normal? It is my niece's iPod and she has her music library on her laptop but has not downloaded the latest software - does this cause a clash if the iPod is registered to a different PC? Any help or guidance in an idiots simple way would be most appreciated. JT

It is the update firmware is taking so long?  It can take an hour or more for the download.
If you do the update on other than the syncing computer, all the music and apps will not be on the iPod after the update see:

I tried to install the latest version of iTunes on my Windows PC, but the installation failed and I have the error message "Runtime Error R6034 An application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly."  When I then tried to run iTunes (assuming that, since the new install failed, my older version was still OK) I got the message "iTunes was not installed correctly.  Please reinstall iTunes.  Error 7 (Windows error 1114".  I tried then uninstalling iTunes and reinstalling it fresh, but encountered the same problems.       Well how do you do that without owning a MAC?  This error pops up every time I start my computer.  The other pop up says Error 7 (Windows error 1114)
I have uninstalled itunes and re-installed it (I still get the pop up after itunes was uninstalled.)
I can't find a restore point before the latest update.  And I can't run itunes on my Windows 7 computer.  Any advice out there?

    Do the following:
Uninstall from Windows the following five programs: iTunes, Apple Software Update, Apple Mobile Device Support, Bonjour and Apple Application Support. You do this from an applet in Control Panel called Programs & Features (in Windows 8, 7, or Vista) or Add or Remove Programs (in Windows XP).
Download the latest version of iTunes from Apple and note the location you're saving it to so you can find it once it's done.
Run the iTunes installation as an administrator, just Right click iTunes installer and Run as Administrator.

iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes. Error 7 (Windows error 1114)
Did this still get error message on reinstall

Wth regards to the R 6034 error message, I completed these steps for Windows 7; however, these are the applicable for Windows Vista and Windows 8. If you follow these steps in this order, you should be able to reinstall iTunes.
    1. Open "Computer" on "Start Menu".
    2. Open OS (C:) for the listing of files
    3. Scroll down to "Program Files (x86) and double click. Scroll down to the iTunes file and double click. You will see iTunes files. Move all of the the iTunes filles ending with.dll to your Desktop so that they are no longer in your program file listing. Also move the IT Detector to your Desktop. You can leave the remaining files. There should be a total of 5 files moved to the Desktop. This completes the first of 3 steps.
Open "Control Panel" on the Start Menu.
    1. Locate "Programs and Features" then double click. Complete individual uninstalls for each of the following in this order: You can right click each item and select uninstall or click uninstall on the top of the page.
    -  Itunes
    -  Apple Software Update
    -  Apple Mobile Device Support
    -  Bonjour
Before you close the Control Panel, verify that you have uninstalled by typing "iTunes" in the search section of this page. If anything is found, uninstall it. This completes the second step.
Restart your computer. You should be able to download iTunes, now. When you go to the download page, you will not need to enter your e-mail address. This is the third step.

  • Have begun having a problem - symptom is windows message saying "R6034 A program has attempted to load the C runtime library incorrectly.  I have re-installed Itunes, the installation failed with an inability to start apple mobile device service also.

Itunes quit working after a failed Itunes update.  Don't know why the update failed, but afterwords I got an error stating
    R6034
An application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly.  Please contact the application's support team for more information.
I removed and reinstalled iTunes.  This resulted a problem during the install - "Apple mobile device" service failed to start.  After ignoring this a couple of times, the install continued, ultimately resulting in failure, and the R6034 message showing up twice, once associated with iTunes.exe and once with ITunesHelper.exe.
Also got "iTunes was not installed correctly.  Please reinstall iTunes.
    Error 7 (windows error 1114)
    Can anyone help?

    Hello Skip Grantham,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
it may be necessary to remove all traces of iTunes and related software components from your computer before reinstalling iTunes.
For more information on this, take a look at:
iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows: Unable to install or open
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5376
    Check for .dll files
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iTunes and look for .dll files.
If you find QTMovie.DLL, or any other .dll files, move them to the desktop.
    Reboot your computer.
Note: Depending on your operating system, you may only have one of the listed paths.
    Uninstall and reinstall iTunes
Uninstall iTunes and all of its related components.
Reboot your computer. If you can't uninstall a piece of Apple software, try using the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility.
    Re-download and reinstall iTunes 11.1.4.
    Best of luck,
    Mario

After update, Itunes can't load. I get error message R6034, attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly.
I also get error code 7 (Windows error 1114), saying itunes wasn't installed correctly. It appears that I am not the only one with this issue. what is wrong with the latest update?? I tried removing Itunes and all of its components and installing it again, but get same errors and i have also tried doing a system restore with the same results

Doublechecking. Have you also tried the following user tip?
Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates

  • TS3212 I tried to update my itunes to the most current version. Gave me an error saying an app has made an attempt to load the C RUNTIME LIBRARY incorrectly. Then later it a new message saie windows error 1114 Reinstall Itunes. I don't want to lose my dat

I am unable to update my itunes. I received the following message. "An app has made an attempt to load the C runtime librarhy incorrecly. Showed this number R6034 " It stated contact the applications support team. Tried again and received Error 7 windows error 1114 Reinstall iTunes and I need help. Thanks

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.
