I am being constantly asked to install Firefox 27.2.0 - is this legit?

My computer is a MacBook Air. I have always used Firefox. A medium sized window appears out of the blue and asks me to update to Firefox 27.2.0 ASAP. I do not know if this exists. I am now using version 27.0. I do not know if this pop up window is legit, cannot seem to get it to go away. Should I update, or just choose "Ask me later" which is the only other choice besides "Yes, update me now" (language approximate). Also my insertion point tends to bounce around an email or document and insert what I am now typing UP five lines or so in this paragraph in the middle of a word and starts typing from there. This is a new computer but a problem I have had for a couple of years. It's not me, I promise. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. M. Powell

There is no Firefox 27.2.0 for Mac, so it sounds like a scam or possibly a virus. Could you post a screenshot of this "update to firefox 27.2.0 medium sized window"?
The latest version of Firefox for Mac, Windows and Linux is 27.0.1 :
https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/ always has the official version. If you downloaded your firefox from elsewhere it could be unofficial. I suggest installing the official version.

Firefox doesn't update plugins like that. The worst you might see is a "nag" from Firefox after an update, about that plugin being outdated; and you can dismiss that "nag" by just closing it.

Firefox keeps asking to install Flash. When I attempt this, I get an error message stating it failed. Flash works in Google Chrome, but not FF.

Google Chrome comes with its own Flash plugin, so doesn't require to install Flash separately.

You may have to run the Flash installer as Administrator (right-click: Run as Administrator) and make sure that Firefox and possibly other browsers are closed.

I'm constantly asked to install Flash Player 10.1

It's insane the amount of times I'm asked to install Flash Player 10.1, I then click on install and the next window tells me to close Internet Explorer, Yahoo and Windows Messenger. I do then a few minutes, few hours or the next day it's the same thing over and over again and it's getting on my last known nerve.
I have Vista Home Premium 32 bit, Internet Explorer 9
Please help save my sanity, I live on the 5th floor of my building and the window is open. I trust you know where this is leading.

They asked for my Serial Number. ? Is this legit?

I ordered a new video card for my Imac24 and welovemacs said they needed my SN# or their distributor would not release the part. Is this legit? Sounds kinda fishy to me.

Did you ask welovemacs why their distributor requires a serial? All I can think of is that the vendor wants the serial to verify that they ship the correct part.
As to private data, there's probably little danger in releasing the serial. I can't think of any personal data that anyone outside of Apple could access with the S/N other than when your warranty will expire. So it's probably save to give it to the vendor.

Since installing the newest version of Firefox, This message "TypeError: Components.classes[cid] is undefined" appears in a box when a new window should open. Also, what you see in print print preview is not what prints.

This type of error is usually caused by an add-on you are using that is not compatible. It could be anything from an antivirus link scanner like AVG Safe Search add-on, or McAfee Site Advisor add-on, or something similar. To confirm what add-on is causing this use the procedure in this link:

Try Disabling the last add-on that was installed prior to upgrading to version 5.0

Constantly Asked for Keychain Password

I am being constantly asked for my keychain password whenever opening an application that accesses it. I don't know why the permission needs to be given each time. What can I do?
This is really part two of a problem I mentioned earlier (the first part has been taken care of).

There was no "Admin" keychain, but yes I am logged in as the admin. There were, for some reason, two "System keychains." I went into my matthewmcvickar/Library/Keychains folder and deleted login.keychain (huh?) and matthewmcvickar.keychain (the old one) and the extra System keychain disappeared. Then I deleted this latest keychain and created another one.
Still being asked for the password... the password I created for this one is the same as the current password for my account (the admin account).

I'd say your best bet would be to download the Firefox installer and put it on a flash stick. Then you can plug it into the computer that doesn't have IE and install Firefox that way.

Try resolving the problem from iTunes, you have more access to your account details in iTunes. Sometimes it seems that when there is a problem with incorrect or incomplete information regarding your method of payment the Mac App Store's warnings get confusing.
Open iTunes, enter the iTunes Store, then log in and review your account information. Make sure that the billing address is correct and that if needed, the CVV code, the three digit security code from your bank card, is correct. On your way out reset the notifications.

Try running the Live Update for McAfee. <br />IDM said they should have an update ready in a few days.
The thing I am curious about is that if you are aware that your other software is slow at keeping up with Firefox releases, why you allow Firefox to update on the first day of the new release. IMO, you are setting yourself up for disappointment.

Hi, glad that worked for you. Also thanks for the explanation as how you came about this. Yes, from my understanding any Install of the CS5, even a trial version Installs the 10.1 (beta/prerelease) versions. It is not clear to me or others why the 10.1 was used in the CS5 instead of the latest version (10.0.45.2). My only guess is that the 10.1 is very close to being released as a shipping version (final release) to the public. The 10.1 had a target date of the first half of 2010. Perhaps that was the reasoning. This is just my opinion:-)
As I said, many users are having this problem, not just with the CS5, but they Install the 10.1 thinking that will solve whatever problem they may be having with the latest version.

Google talk video plugin does not work any more with Firefox 4. When clicking on the video chat icon, I am repeatedly asked to install the plugin, and it never works.

Google talk audio/video plugin used to work fine on Firefox 3, but does not work anymore on Firefox 4. Every time I click on the video chat icon on google talk, I am asked to install the plugin, even if I have already installed it before. The plugin works properly on the latest version of IE on the same PC.
Thanks for your help. I do not want to switch to Chrome or Opera, but if this bug is not fixed, I will have to.

Not sure if installing IE 9 did it or not but I now see the camera in IE, FF and Chrome. Could be Facebook fixed the problem also.

I want to make sure you're using the auto-update system, because that's the safest most reliable way to go, and it shouldn't appear in the download manager, so I lets make sure you're doing it right. <br/>
