I am being prompted to activate on Mac OS

I just wanted to reply and say that I just had this same issue pop up on my MacBook Pro (OS X 10.8.2 Mountain Lion) a few minutes ago. Was working on a project, went to edit an image, so I right-clicked an image in InDesign, selected Edit Original, but as Photoshop (which I had used already earlier today just fine) was launching the Adobe Application Manager also launched and asked for me to register my trial version... even though it's a full CS6 Master Collection (non-Creative Cloud) that I registered back in May.
I eventually just logged into my Adobe account, got my serial number (I don't have the box here, so I didn't remember what it was -- thank goodness for that online feature), and re-entered it after clicking "Register this product."
Hopefully it continues to work... like it had been doing for the past 7 months.

I'm not sure what you mean by removing my current installation and using the basic installed version. Do you mean reverting to pre-13.0.3? I apologize, but I'm really not up for removing and re-installing software, it's just too disruptive at this point (more so than the dialog box). The dialog box seems more frequent than I first thought - asking me to register every new day. Today I got a dialog box on closing Photoshop, rather than on opening, and this dialog does show something different - it actually says I have 32,767 days remaining in my trial (even though I have a serial number for a full copy) and still bugs me to register or start a trial. 32,767 is of course an important number as it's the maximum positive value of a 2's complement 16-bit signed word. So maybe that will help your programmers track the issue down. I'm enclosing an image of the dialog box as it appeared.

  • Applying the Photoshop 13.0.4 update resolved being prompted to activate

Testing this on ~ 12 machines in our 3 labs which are currently experiencing this problem. On the first 4 machines I updated, 1 of the 4 popped the 32,676 Trial Days Remaining window.
This problem is very troublesome, due to the nature of where our software is installed. We can't give the product code to our users and have them enter it, in fear that the product code could walk off. When this occurs, we often remote in and attempt to serialize the product. Which becomes problematic, when this error occurs in the evening hours when we don't have IT Staff on campus.
Very hard to track and troubleshoot, since the issue is so random. Which machines, Length of time spent deactivated, pretty much every variable you can think of seems randomized. We have the problem on 5-10 machines/week, sometimes more, sometimes less. Some of them, by the time I remote in to serialize the product, (within 5 minutes of problem being reported) the product is already working for them. Other times, I can have someone report it at 5:00 P.M. and the problem is still an issue at 8:00 A.M. the next morning.
I'll be finishing up updates on the ~ 12 machines today, then I plan to run a Serialization File on the machines, then give it a few days to see if the problem continues to occur on those machines.

Branched this to a separate discussion as the previous discussion is not related to the fix applied with the Photoshop 13.0.4 update.  I would have branched this off earlier but it was unclear which operating system you were using and what fix you were applying.

I am being prompted to enter security questions when making a purchase on my new IPad.  I don't believe I have ever setup security questions on my apple id.  I have tried logging into my apple id and have chosen the security and priviacy settings to set up security questions.  However I am prompted to enter answers to security questions and am told they don't match.  How to I create new security questions or reset them?

You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; ways of contacting them include phoning AppleCare and asking for the Account Security team, clicking here and picking a method for your country, and filling out and submitting this form.
They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.

  • Even After Upgrading to 10.3.1 I am still being prompted to Update the OS

    Model - Q5.
Ok, so after a great deal of trouble that I took to remove some Apps etc to make space for upgrading my Q5 to version 10.3.1.2243, I finally succeeded in upgrading the phone. Shortly thereafter, just when I thought I was all set, I started getting notifications to upgrade again, and this time I was being prompted to free up another 1.7 GB from my phone, which is virtually impossible. The update version that I am being prompted to fee up space for is 10.3.1.1565.
When I connect through the Blackberry Link, it shows my software as up-to-date, with version 10.3.1.1565 installed. Can someone please tell me what is going on, becuase there is no way that I can create an extra 1.7 GB of space for a new update.
Screenshots of the issue are attached for your ready reference.

how do I tell Adobe reader to open a file instead of being prompted to save the file?

  • Trying to understand, being prompted the file compression rules on saving, or not

    Hello,
I'm trying to understand something, could I ask for your help, please ?
After working on a jpg file, when I want to save it, still as jpg, with my Photoshop CS5,
    - sometimes photoshop will just save the picture, and it's done
    - sometimes photoshop will show me the compression dialog, "JPEG Options", in which I can choose the compression ratio, the format options (baseline, baseline optimized, progressive), and have an estimation of the total file size
While not being prompted any dialog is simpler, and I'll then simply assume Photoshop decides to retain the current image's compression and format rules, I must say I like to be in control, and I'd like to know under what form the file is being saved without having to resort to the much more complex "Save For Web" menu.
Please, would you know WHAT "triggers" the appearance of the JPEG Options when we close/save a jpeg file, in photoshop ? What makes this menu not to appear, what makes it appear ?
If there are trivial file operations/changes/filters that necessarily trigger its appearance when we want to save, something like that ? I've tried a variety of these, but I still can't figure it out, sometimes it shows in the end, and sometimes it doesn't.
Thank you very much if you can help me
    Kind regards,
    Oliver

    @ c.pfaffenbichler
These are images from various sources, not just one.
I'm deliberately excluding Save For Web, this completely re-processes everything.
My purpose, precisely, is to know when photoshop takes the decision to retain the image's "rules", and when photoshop decides to pose us the question, how do we want it saved.
Simply taking a jpeg image, doing stuff on it, and hitting control-w to close the window, and seeing if it will be an
    - «OK, sure, do you want to save ? You clicked OK to confirm you wanted the changes saved ? Good, now it's closed» or a
    - «please sir, how would you like your image saved, tell me the compression ratio and the format options, thank you»

If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the disk image (dmg) file to the desktop
    * Firefox 7.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
    * Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
    * Install the new version that you have downloaded

  • PDF popup, in FireFox, without being prompted

Hello, I am using Windows XP Pro, SP3, fully patched and updated. My Adobe Reader is version 9.5.0. I am currently using FireFox 3.6.25, but this problem has been affecting my computer for the last year and a half, and happens with newer versions of FireFox, up to and including version 8. I downloaded a PDF file of an air compressor users manual and saved a copy to a folder on my desktop (where I store all of my PDF files).
Now, whenever my FireFox browser is up and running, this PDF file will pop up every three hours, or so. It will initially pop up about ten minutes after the browser is started, and then about three hours after I close the reader program. It, neither the file, nor Adobe Reader, asks for permission to run, the PDF file, just comes up fully formed and running in Reader.
I have search in my Reader preferences/options/setting and can’t find any setting, control, action, button or choice that allows me to stop this pop up behavior. I can move the file to another location on my “c” drive, move it to another hard drive altogether, or even rename it, all to no avail, the popup behavior remains.
Is this a Adobe “problem”, or setting, a FireFox problem (as it only happens when the FireFox browser is running), or something else I am not aware off? Thanks for any help, in advance!!

Hello Ankit, and thanks for help:
This behavior only happens with this one PDF, no others, and I have hundreds saved to the same folder.
Speak of the devil, as I was typing the first sentence of this email, it popped up. My FireFox browser is set to start when I boot my computer, and that happened about ten minutes ago.
I rarely use IE and never use any other browser. When I do use IE it is only for those websites that still don't function properly with FireFox, and I generally get there via a FireFox add-on that opens a version of IE within the FireFox browser. Also on rare occasions, I will open IE directly to view my daughters school grades, again because that website doesn't handle FireFox properly. In any case, whenever I use IE, I only keep that tab or browser running for a very short period of time, just long enough to capture my data needs, generally less than five minutes, then shut it down,........ But, I don't recall this PDF behavior ever happening with the IE usage.

If there is information I can pass on to you manually, or if I can contact you when the behavior happens, that would be OK.

How can I completely delete an app, so it won't even be listed in the app store under purchased items? And I will stop being prompted to make updates even though I've removed it from my iPad?

Once an app is deleted from an iOs device, you will no longer be prompted for updates. Update alerts only occur for apps curently installed.
Purchases can be hidden (but not completely deleted) from the purchased list, but only using itunes on a computer.

  • Firefox will randomly try to save pages without being prompted too

I'll be browsing the web and left-click on a link then firefox will bring up the "save box" without being prompted too. It happens most often in Facebook, Escapist Magazine and Youtube, but will happen when I use Google.

Most links are to web pages that Firefox handles itself. Some are to other kinds of files and if the server tells Firefox to handle it as a download, it will display the Open/Save or Save/Cancel dialog. If this happens with files that clearly are supposed to display in Firefox, then there could be an issue with your settings for that kind of page or file in: Tools > Options > Applications.
I realize that's a very general answer, so if you can post a couple URLs to pages and indicate which links have the problem, people can take a look and make more specific suggestions.
By the way, the Skype add-on can make changes to pages that cause them to behave differently, so you might try disabling it except when you need it.
