I am connected to a strange host
For some reason, unknown to me, my computer has an FTP connection open to gd.tuwien.ac.at. I can see it if I type "netstat -a" into the terminal:
tcp4 0 0 10.0.10.8.50971 gd.tuwien.ac.at.53010 ESTABLISHED
tcp4 0 0 10.0.10.8.50970 gd.tuwien.ac.at.ftp ESTABLISHED
Now... "FTP Access" in Sharing Preferences is off, and my FTP client is not running (Transmit).
Why would I have such a connection open?? I can only assume that there is some piece of software on my machine that has opened this connection.
I am running my OS X firewall. FTP is not an allowed service.
I also have an AirPort Extreme base station acting as a router and serving up NAT and DHCP. There are exactly 0 port forwards set up to this machine.
I am indeed confused.
Any ideas??

Ahhhh... Found it.
About 10 days ago I tried to install ethereal using fink. There was an error and the install aborted. I never got back to installing it. This is an open ftp connection (fink was using curl to download ethereal). I would have thought it would have timed out on it's own... I mean.. 10 days is a bit long eh?

Does anyone of you has made experiences with that problem?
Maybe it´s a system parameter for time out SOAP connections....?

But I have the solution:
I have looked into channel monitoring / RWB again.
There I saw, this PI is using two clusters on two application servers.
Everytime the SOAP call is executed through the frist cluster, all was fine.
But no SOAP call was successfully executed by the second cluster.
Fortuity? No!
The second cluster node / app server wasn´t registered for internet access in the used proxy server.
So it wasn´t an PI issue.
Now, all is fine & I´m happy!

Intermitent Connect failed because target host...on RAC instances
I am getting Connect failed because target host or object does not exist sometimes when my clients login. Here is what my tnsnames.ora entry looks like:

"Connect Failed" error may be related to the resolution of the name of your hosts. In this case, the client is not able to resolve the names of the database servers to the corresponding IP addresses. To resolve this issue you may;
1. Make your client host a DNS client and enter the name entries for the database servers to the DNS server.
or
2. You may enter this information into your client's local hosts file. This is /etc/hosts in UNIX and like operating systems.
If this doesn't help, please let me know so i can suggest you a few more things to implement.

Dreamweaver can no longer connect to my sftp host
I have been using Dreamweaver to connect an upload files to a GoDaddy server using sftp. One day last month, this stopped working. I get the error "An FTP error occurred - cannot make connection to host. FileZilla connects to my host with the same connections. I also downloaded the latest Dreamweaver from Creative Cloud and it connects no problem. I need to get Dreamweaver 5.5 to connect as the new version with the trial ran out.
I have tried uninstalling and re-installing, using the AdobeCreativeCloud Cleaner Tool, using Revo uninstaller. When I re-install Dreamweaver 5.5, the site settings pop up again, so my thoughts are even in the uninstall, files remain that have some incorrect setting for this server. As a result, I renamed the configuration folder, reset the cache. No change. I cannot connect to this GoDaddy host and no matter what I do, Site Settings still hold details for my login.
How can I completely wipe this installation and all settings so that whatever is stuck in the background clears?
Or, can you suggest an alternative method? I read that it is possible that GoDaddy changed the IP address of their SSH server and that some folder or file called ssh_settings may have to be reset.I did that several times to no avail. But now, Dreamweaver will not install. Here are the details from the log:

1. HOST=X.X.COM, ensure host is reachable : PING works and host(s) are reachable.
2. In RAC Env, ensure TNS Name is correctly spelled, spelling fine, i can connect with the tns name (is TNS name same as SERVICE_NAME?) by: sqlplus 'user/user@racenv'; but my efforts still will not allow me to use:
sqlplus 'user/user' it tells me that the host or object is does not exist, does this refer to the actual physical machine or the service name, or the instance name?
All host entries in my tnsnames.ora file refer to the vip addresses of both servers holding the rac installation, and both are resolved just fine, testing with ping; any other way to test this?
tnsnames file contains CONNECTION strings in the following order (does the listener entry need to be in the file? on the machine that i am trying to connect from?):

Your help is greatly appreciated.You stated that you can ping ACS from the router, did you try sourcing the packets from the GigabitEthernet 0/0 interface (which is the one TACACS+ will try to use, given the configuration that you posted)?
What does the network path between the router and ACS look like (ie, any firewalls, NAT, etc)?
Can you connect to port 49 at the ACS IP address from the router sourcing the packets from GigabitEthernet 0/0 ?
Are you using VRFs?
What version of IOS? -

My database is in RAC on a RHEL 5 and oracle 10.2.0.4 release, when i connect from client at the first time it's connected and after exit and connect again it gives the error ORA-12545: Connect failed because target host or object does not exist. and trying to tnsping i can reach the server and connect again it's connected and after disconnect and reconnect it gives the same error.

We are using Oracle EBS R12 on Linux x86 Enterprise Server.
We have installed vision database (both apps and db on same machine)
Host name: ERPDEV
IP:192.168.1.211
We can connect from client machines to our database using sqlplus i.e.
sqlplus apps/****@vision
Similarly tnsping is also successfully returning results.
Also following commands are returning results
ping erpdev
ping 192.168.1.211
ping erpdev.domainname.com
All above commands are running fine.
However we are trying to create new "Legal Address Entry" through "Legal Entry Manager". After filling all the details like Location,Country,City etc, when I push the apply button, getting following error messages:
ORA-29273: HTTP request failed ORA-06512: at "SYS.UTL_HTTP", line 1674 ORA-12545: Connect failed because target host or object does not exist in Package xle_legal_address_swi Procedure create_legal_address
I dont know why this ORA-12545 error is occuring through application although all of the above tests are running fine from client terminals.

or simply ping the server.
if client able to communicate server then check HOSTNAME in listener.ora
is represting correctly your Host.
is hostname map with virtual ip in host file of Operating System if not using DNS.
check ur hostname with command hostname.

I am using Oracle 10g version, and i am using plsql developer.
I am able to connect Oracle through sql*plus, But i am not able to connect Oracle through plsql developer from past few days, it is giving me error like:
ora-12545 connect failed because target host does not exist
I have not done any changes in setting though i am getting this problem, earlier i was able to work with plsql developer very good.

I've installed XE 10.2 under Fedora Core 7 from the downloaded .rpm. The RPM installs fine, and I've run the config from the command line. I've edited my bash file to load the environment variables. Here's my hosts file:

When I start the oracle-xe service from the services interface, I get this:
