I am connected to wifi, but 3G is still on the top??
We have two iPhone4's, my wifes and mine. I have wifi running on my phone, but my wifes doesn't want to connect to the same at home wifi we have. why?
3G costs me $$, where as wifi does not.
Thanks,
Blaine
Have you tried going into Wi-Fi and forgetting your network on her iPhone. Then go back into Settings and turn Wi-Fi back on and try to connect? You can also try and reset network settings. The only problem with that is it will forget all the other wi-fi networks she has connected to. Also, the user troubleshooting steps after that are:
Power iPhone off/on
Reset - by holding the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and release
Restore - from a backup
Restore - as a new phone
See if things work after each step before going on to the next one.

My iphone 4s is connected to wifi but it won't access the internet
My iphone is running on iOS7. It says it's connected to wifi but I can't access the internet. Some apps work like mail and facebook but that's it. Everything else says theres no connectivity. When I turn it off and use 4g they work. I've tried everything from turning off the wifi to reset settings. I don't know what the problem is. Can anyone help?

Hi. I have just upgraded to the IPhone5. I have synced to WIFI and I am still unable to connect to ITunes, App Store or Safari. Any suggestions?
Thanks for your help. NR1420What happens when you try? Do you get an error message.
disconnect from the wifi and try on cellular data, if you can access the apps, then the problems lies with your router. -
It appears that my iPhone 5 has a wifi signal reception issue. I only show one bar on the wifi signal meter even when I an next to the router. Both my Macbook Air and my iPad2 show full wifi signals at the same time. Rebooting the Apple router and each device results in the same meter readings.
Does this occur with any Wi-Fi connection? Or only a specific one?
If it occurs with any Wi-Fi connection, take it to Apple.
If it is only occurring with a specific Wi-Fi connection, it is an issue with that Wi-Fi connection.
Try the following, it may help:
Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Forget the Wi-Fi connection on the iPhone then reconnect.
Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). -
When I first unlock my iPhone, it says I have connection to internet. But when I do something that requires internet, it either does not load, or it gives me a connection error message. I just got this phone yesterday from my mom and she barley used it. I have tried factory resetting it but it wont let me.
Hi Bdegroot8,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. Based on what you stated, it sounds like the iPhone is having trouble with Wi-Fi. It looks like you have already done some troubleshooting. I would recommend that you read these articles, they may be helpful in troubleshooting your issue.

Connected to wifi but can't access
what's wrong with my iphone connected to wifi but i can't access the internet? while my friend's ipod touch and ipad1 they can access the internet?
Your router may not have given your iPod a valid IP address. Go to Settings > Wifi > your network name and touch the ">" to the right to see the network details. If the IP address starts with 169 then your router didn't provide an IP address and you won't be able to access the Internet.
Sometimes the fix can be as simple as restarting your router (remove power for 30 seconds and restart). Next, reset network settings on your iPod and attempt to connect. In other cases it might be necessary to update the router's firmware with the latest from the manufacturer's support web pages.
If you need more help please give more details on your network, i.e., router make/model, wifi security being used (WEP, WPA, WPA2), etc.

MY iPod touch says iPod I'd disabled, connect to iTunes, but it is green at the top instead of red. It won't allow me to slide bar to open screen or nothing. I tried to connect to iTunes and a message appears and says iTunes cannot find my device must have pass code to continue. But I can't do anything on the iPod at all. What can I do to fix this?
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

For how to restore:
iTunes: Restoring iOS software
To restore from backup see:
iOS: How to back up
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store -
my iphone 4s and ipad2 both with 7.0.4 update will no longer connect to wifi.
About three days ago the ability to connect came and went and the connection never lasted more than 10-15 minutes; it has not been able to connect since last night. I do not think it's my wifi router as non-mac lap top has no issues. I have seem many similar questions posted.Reboot your router by removing all power from it for about 15 seconds. Also, if your router still has its default SSID (such as LINKSYS, DLINK, NETGEAR, etc) change the SSID to something unique. Note that all other devices on your network will have to be reconnected if you change the name, but if the name is still the default that is most likely your problem.
If the SSID is not the default then the reboot should fix it. -
I'm able to connect via wifi but not via ethernet
I have a iMac, Mac OS X v10.7.5, and recently had a problem connecting to internet. I can connect via wifi, but when I try connecting via ethernet it's not working. When I go to the preferences > network, it shows "green" / connected for ethernet but when I open up Safari or Firefox, it doesn't show a connection to the internet.

Hi, this has worked for a few...
Though all of these steps may or may not be needed, I'm including them all.
Make a New Location, Using network locations in Mac OS X ...
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2712
10.5, 10.6, 10.7 & 10.8…
System Preferences>Network, top of window>Locations>Edit Locations, little plus icon, give it a name.
10.5.x/10.6.x/10.7.x/10.8.x instructions...
System Preferences>Network, click on the little gear at the bottom next to the + & - icons, (unlock lock first if locked), choose Set Service Order.
The interface that connects to the Internet should be dragged to the top of the list.
If using Wifi/Airport...
Instead of joining your Network from the list, click the WiFi icon at the top, and click join other network. Fill in everything as needed.
For 10.5/10.6/10.7/10.8, System Preferences>Network, unlock the lock if need be, highlight the Interface you use to connect to Internet, click on the advanced button, click on the DNS tab, click on the little plus icon, then add these numbers...
208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220
(There may be better or faster DNS numbers in your area, but these should be a good test).
Click OK.
10.5/10.6 instructions, System Preferences>choose interface>Advanced>Proxies Tab, make sure none are set, like for HTTP & HTTPS. -

My macbook pro is connected to wifi but it will not connect to the internet.
My macbook pro is connected to wifi but it will not connect to the internet. When I go on safari, it says that "Safari can't verify the identity of the website". Then I tried to update flashplayer but you need the internet to update it. All this only started happening after that Moutain Lion software was downloaded onto the laptop. Please help, I have been internet-less for a couple months now.

Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
