I am connecting to my wireless network but not able to use internet.  Used to work fine on this computer.  Still works fine with iPhone and older iMac.

When I connect (I have it set for Auto DHCP) the IP address that I get is a "bad" address - first 3 digits are 169.  There is no router IP address on summary page.  Any ideas?

169.***.***.** is a self-assigned IP address. The system does this when it cannot obtain a functioning IP address from the DHCP server. There can be myriad reasons, but the following Apple help page shows the way out.

I have downloaded Instant Client libraries (basic, SDK and SQL files, named instantclient-basic-10.2.0.4.0-macosx-x64.zip , instantclient-sqlplus-10.2.0.4.0-macosx-x64.zip and instantclient-sqlplus-10.2.0.4.0-macosx-x64.zip ) to Mac OS X 10.6.2 server and unzipped them as instructed in the manual here: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/install.102/e12121/inst_task.htm#BABJGGJH
Manual then instructs to run runInstaller command. This command however is not being recognized by the system (' No such file or directory' error is thrown) which to my opinion means one of two things: either command is misspelled in the manual or the command file that runs it is missing. I tried it with or without a dot and slash and in small case letters, nothing works.
When I installed similar libraries on Linux I had no problems but all was required there was to place libraries in the proper directory, no command was required.
Maybe same can be done here as well but I am not sure where to place some of the files. I see .h files that should go to /usr/include but see no .so files that on Linux go to /usr/lib. There are some files with .dylib and other .*lib extensions but I'm not sure if they should be copied to /usr/lib or not. And then there are some other files I have no idea what to do with.
Please help!!!No, you can't just drop a few files into a directory and have a working installation (well, I guess technically you could. But technically you could bail all the water out of Lake Superior with a teacup ...)
Sounds like you've covered PATH and current directory issues. What about permissions? What OS account are you using for this installation? (you should have created an account called "oracle" and made it's primary group "dba"). Does that account have execute permissions?

  • I can connect to my wireless network but not the internet

Hi. I've had my iBook G4 for just about a year and it's worked fantastically... until recently. My roommate has a PC and a linksys wireless router, and I've always been able to connect wirelessly to the internet until last week. I came home from work one day, and my iBook "saw" our wireless network and could "see" other computers on the network, but could not access the internet. My roommate had no problem accessing the internet through the wi-fi on his Dell laptop. So I zapped my p-ram and fiddled with some settings, but I still had the same problem.
Next I re-installed OS X, and tried again. Still the same issue. Of course, by this time I'm getting frustrated, but then about 12 hours later I decide to try it again and it just works! Like there was never any problem....
So anyway, it worked like a dream for about a week and now I have the same exact problem again! It connects to the network but not the internet. Is this a known problem? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
    Thanks,
    -joe.

i was having the same issue with all my devices. everything would cut out and i would have to reboot my router...my internet service provider is ATT and i have a Uverse router. i went to their online support and i was able to chat with a tech support agent and they ended up changing the channel of my router and that has resolved my problem....i am currently steaming pics from my iphoto library to my apple tv and my wife is streaming music from her iphone at the same time...support tech stated that usually they have the router set to a generic channel that usually has a lot of traffic.

  • IMac connects to Airport wireless network but not internet

Hi, I'm trying to set up my sister's iMac (education version) and haven't been able to get it to connect to the internet via the Airport Base Station. If it makes a difference, the ABS is an older model from about 4-5 years ago, I think. (Not extreme.)
The ABS is able to successfully dial-up and connect to her ISP.
The iMac displays the connect time, and the Internet Connect application shows for the AirPort Status that the iMac is connected to the network and that it is "Connected to the Internet via the Modem..." (followed the by the connection time.) However, the iMac still won't connect to the internet.
The wireless network seems to work okay. I'm able to access the iMac via my PowerBook and share files.
My PowerBook is able to connect to the internet wirelessly via the same active ISP dial-up connection via the ABS.
I tried duplicating the same network information from the PowerBook, but that still didn't work. As far as I can tell, the settings in the PowerBook are the same as in the iMac.
I'm tapped out of ideas right now. Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!
    12" iBook G3 DualUSB   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   Born June 2001

    Finally got it to work.
In Airport Admin Utility --> Configure -->Access Control there were two Airport ID's listed there. I didn't add them, and I don't know where they came from, so I deleted them to see what would happen. After the base station restarted I connected to the ISP, and the iMac has been able to connect to the web ever since.

Well, you could install the drivers to the wireless printer in you other computers.

Is there a way to configure win 8 Laptop to airport express?  I can see the connection to the wireless network, but troubleshooter suggests there's there is no gateway and of course no internet. The connection
shows limited.  Any help you could provide would be most appreciated.  Further, should I simply buy another router for the windows machine?  If I did that, would it interfere with the airport?

The internal HDDs must be formatted in either EXT3 or EXT4 file system because NSS uses Linux OS.  This is mainly because the RAM designed to fit with the customized Linux OS's size.
You can connect to an external HDD via a  USB or eSATA port. The external HDD's file system can be NTFS, FAT32, AFT or EXT3/4 to be recognized for read/write. You can connect a 2TB USB/eSATA drive connec to the NSS via USB port to format your HDD for NTFS, AFT, FAT32, or EXT3/4 partition.
You can join the NSS to a Windows domainr so all domain users to access NSS. You cannot replace the NSS for the Windows 2003 SP2 server. They are two different products and do different jobs. Windows server is features sets server while the NSS is the files/data server.
    Hope that helps!!

Power off and then back on the router
What happens when you enter the network's PW?
Try forgetting/deleting the network if necessary. To do that go to System Preferences>Network>wifi>Advanced and select the network and click on the minus sign

Your router may not have given your iPad a valid IP address. Go to Settings > Wifi > your network name and touch the ">" to the right to see the network details. If the IP address starts with 169 or is blank then your router didn't provide an IP address and you won't be able to access the Internet.
Sometimes the fix can be as simple as restarting your router (remove power for 30 seconds and restart). Next, reset network settings on your iPad (Settings > General > Reset > Reset network settings) and then attempt to connect. In other cases it might be necessary to update the router's firmware with the latest from the manufacturer's support web pages.
If you need more help please give more details on your network, i.e., your router make, model and version, the wifi security being used (WEP, WPA, WPA2), etc.

I've connected to the wireless network, but my Ipad still insists I have no internet connection?

If the iPad insists that you have no Internet connection, why do you say that you've connected to the wireless network?

  • Can connect to wireless network but not to internet

Ok, so I bought a new AEBS and have finally managed to get it set up with my cable modem, and with security on so that the light is green, and not amber... the only problem now is that although I can connect to the wireless network that i have created using the base station, I cannot connect to the internet through it using my MacBook.
I don't have problem connecting my iMac to the net wirelessly using the base unit so am confused.
    Anyone got any ideas?

It is described on Page 51 of "Designing AirPort Extreme 802.11n Networks" (http://manuals.info.apple.com/en/DesigningAirPortExtreme802.11nNetworks.pdf).

Ask on a Windows forum since that's what you're having a problem with.

Check you router DHCP. Do each of you have a unique IP address?

  • Can connect to protected wireless network, but no speed or connectivity?

I saw other people had this issue as well, but I want to make sure my issue isn't a different subject (sometimes I get lost in the technical jargon). Anyway, since I updated my MBP I have been able to connect to my wireless network (password protected) fine, and it shows I have great signal strength; however, when I attempt to use the internet, only the first pages loads really, after that pages are extremely slow to load (30 seconds, etc), time out, or simple can't connect. I don't know what to do. I can connect to the other open wireless networks. I know it is not the router or my wireless card. Any suggestions?
