Also, I am guessing as Logic only runs on MAC surely then they would not the best spec to recommend to run it?

Is a retina screen necessary, and why flash based storage against a 1TB hard drive, and a i5 instead of an i7
The main reason for this purchase is to play live and use backing tracks and record found sounds and make creative songs.
I hope you can provide some valuable feedback, as I am a longtime MAC user and see upgrades and changes happen regularly but the most important thing is the songs not the equipment.
I have £500 already and willing to add another 500 to 700 pounds, then software extra.

In Acrobat X the old Typewriter tool is found at Tools - Content - Add or
Edit Text Box (it still has the typewriter icon, but with a different name).

Buying a new MAC..question regarding moving files

I have an iMAC that is many years old. I also have a Powerbook which is approx. 3 yrs old. I'm considering buying a new MAC. I'm into photography and need lots of hard drive and the newer screens are much more inviting. Anyway, I know when I purchased the laptop I connected it to the iMAC and it loaded all the programs, fonts, etc so I could just start using the laptop with all the things I had on my iMAC. Since both of my machines are quite old I have lots of stuff on them that quite frankly I'm not smart enough to know that I don't need. I don't want to immediately fill up hard drive space on my new machine with things that are worthless. Is there a way of getting things I need and use onto my new computer (like website downloaded fonts, actions, effects) without getting the worthless stuff? Thank you so much.

my final reply: I managed to do it using ethernet cable!
I did erase and install on MBP while having it etherned to MB then when it comes to the screen when it asks: do you want to transfer... i chose from another mac. then comes the option use firewire or small button: use ethernet. Pressed it and I get info:
put the install dvd 1(MBP) into your other computer and install: DVD or CD sharing setup
so when you put MBP install DVD into MB you get window and among other things there's a folder: optional installs and there this DVD or CD setup
Then when Migrating Assistant is open on MB comes up a dialogue box and then there is an option transfer to another Mac
'your info has been transfered succesfully'
I had to do it using ethernet cable - $3.95 for firewire it's incredibly cheap - but I don't live in the US - here this cable costs around $50

You can't change countries whilst you have a balance. The easiest thing to do is transfer the library from the old computer to the new one. Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings: Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive. Open iTunes and immediately hold down the option (alt) key (shift on Windows) so you get a prompt to choose a library, then select the copied iTunes folder. If this is to a new computer and you put the copied iTunes folder in the default location of Macintosh HD > Users > *User Name* > Music then you don't even need to start with the option key held down, iTunes will automatically look for it there. (Make sure there isn't anything already in the iTunes folder there that you want to keep since you will be replacing it with the one you are moving.)
If you do not have access to the old library (and you always should in the form of a backup you regularly make of your computer and store on a drive in a safe place) and this phone has been synced with a different library you can backup certain items, then erase the phone and restore those items. This will not include media not purchased from the iTunes Store.

Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself independently backed up against loss. To use a device with a new computer you transfer the content from the old computer (or its backup) directly to the new computer, not the device to the new computer. Media syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases which can be transferred to a computer.

I found a way to fix it. Simply restart the dock by using "killall Dock" in the terminal.
