No one knows for sure as yet. This is the information Apple has provided to date:

    Anything else is a guess.

Use Tony's suggestion. I am running it right now and it is awesome. I love Mozilla but they basically screwed all of those older Macs over. Come on Mozilla. These Macs still work, and there are plenty of people with them out there.

I have an aluminium Macbook Pro 15" from around 2009 currently running 10.5.8. Apparently I need to be on 10.7.2 to get into iCloud. And I can only run 10.7.2 on a Core 2 Duo machine or above? Doublechecking ... are you looking for an iTunes version 10.6.3.25?
A .dmg installer for iTunes version 10.6.3.25 for Mac OS can be found at the following download page on the Apple website:

  • Can I run Mac Os 10.4 on my iMac G4 Dome? Where can I get install disks?

I have an iMac G4 that currently has Mac OS10.3.9 installed.  I am unable to connect to the internet using my Airport Extreme even though there is an Airport card installed..  Can I install Mac OS 10.4 and if so where can I get installation CD's/DVD's for PPC G4?

Check in the Airport forums here:
    AirPort
There may be a way to change security settings on the AEBS to accomodate the older OS.
As for OS versions, any iMac G4 can run OS 10.4.11, and those with a 1ghz or faster processor can run OS 10.5.8. However, demand has pushed prices of legitimate retail install packages for older Mac OS versions sky-high---often more than the computer is worth used---and has also attracted the attention of scam artists. There are NO downloadable versions of the Mac OS since 7.5. Any offered are scams and piracy.
You cannot use the gray system install/restore disks that came with another Mac model. A retail disk is black witha  big X and will NOT say "Up to Date" on it.
Another caution: Some older G4 iMacs shipped with CD drives, not DVDs, and most Tiger retail disks out there are DVDs. Make sure your computer can use a DVD system disk before your order.

  • OSX - SCEP Agent - Where does it get updates from?

Really simple question that I simply cannot find an answer to.
Where does the OSX version of the System Center Endpoint Protection agent download it's updates from?
For Windows clients we have it set to get updates from SCCM and then failback to Microsoft Update.  In SCCM I can see those updates because they are auto-approved to our Software Update Points.  Does the OSX agent use SCCM and the same update definitions
or does it just always use Microsoft Update??

    Hi,
It doesn't use Windows Update or SCCM at all it is updated directly from the cloud.

  • When I click on update the download runs in the background and nothing happens, how do I correct this so I get updates?

I receive a message box asking if I would like to update Firefox. I click on yes and it goes to the download box with the long horizontal download bar with blue and white moving lines. That never changes...it simply stays with this box, the download bar never changes and it doesn't matter how long I wait for it to complete install it never occurs. The update box appears randomly in time, but it is quite often.

    Hello emckenzie
If there is an issue with update or permissions '''the better, quickest and safest way''' is to download and install firefox:
    1. Download a copy of the latest firefox from http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
    2. '''Trash''' the current Firefox application to do a clean install.
    3. Install the version that you have downloaded.
Do not select to remove your personal data, your profile data is stored elsewhere in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder], so you won't lose your bookmarks or other personal data.

  • My imac is currently running on Snow Leopard 10.6.3 How do I upgrade to install Mountain Lion?

My imac is currently running on Snow Leopard 10.6.3.  How do I install Mountain Lion?

Update your 10.6.3 to 10.6.8 using the :
    http://support.apple.com/kb/index?page=answerlink&url=http%3A%2F%2Fsupport.apple .com%2Fkb%2FDL1399&answerid=16777216&src=support_site.downloads.search
    Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1
Then make sure you meet the requirements for Mt Lion:
    http://www.apple.com/osx/specs/
Now that being said, the 2GB RAM requirement will not leave you with a smoothly running system. Max out your RAM that your system can handle (more than 8 GB would be up to you) . Older Applications may no longer supported. No Power PC apps are supported past !0.6.8. Many other Apps will need to be updated or upgraded.

I'm currently running OSX 10.6.8 and Safari 5.1.10. What are the steps to get my IMAC totally up-to-date?

Back up your data, check your applications for compatibility, and download Yosemite from the Mac App Store.

I am currently running OSX 10.6.8 on my MacBook Pro. Can I upgrade straight to Yosemite and if I can what issues will I face?

    1. It depends on what Mac model you have. If it's incapable of running Yosemite, installing an intermediate version won't help with that.
    2. You'll lose the ability to run PowerPC software, and some other programs may also be incompatible. If something goes wrong, you might lose data; back your computer up first. There aren't any issues specifically associated with skipping versions.

If you're using a PowerPC Mac, no.
If you're using an Intel Mac, phone the online Apple Store and order a Mac OS X 10.6 DVD.

  • HT201178 With the coming of OSX Mountain Lion, will there be support for a late 2006 iMac  (currently running OSX Lion

With the coming of OSX Mountain Lion, will apple be supporting a late 2006 I mac currently running OSX Lion?

Ahhhh. Well, now you have earned a "Slap Kappy" coupon good for one slap. Expires in 30 days.
The 64-bit kernel thing will leave a lot of use behind. My main machine is a 2006 Mac Pro on which I've spent some money putting in two 4-core CPUs and an ATI 5770 GPU in the past year. If I want to run ML I can't do so. The only options I have for a desktop Mac is either a newer Mac Pro model - post 2007 - used or refurbed or a recent or new iMac. This assumes the Mac Pro line may be dropped. Apple has been very mum on that.
Clearly, Apple wants to get users of older hardware to buy new machines in order to run ML now and in the future. Because it is possible to boot the older models with the 64-bit kernel via some hacking, Apple might have been able to install ML on them by adding some code and retaining 32-bit drivers where needed, but they've chosen not to take that route. I think it's a bit of a marketing ploy to help drive up sales of new Macs, but I appreciate that Apple has chosen to abandon legacy support in the past in order to avoid having an OS like Windows - bloated by support for older and older hardware.
