I am currently using iplanet 4.1 on a solaris box. This is my first time using Iplant so this question my sound trivial but I am not sure how to figure it out.
I am getting the following error when I try to restart the server. Can anyone help?

The server https-verity-dev was not started. Currently our server is down, it is only a dev box but we are currently tryhing to test so any help would be greatly appreciated.

U did not mention in which version of Solaris u r installing IWS 4.1
Try these steps:
(1)Have u chosen the option to install jdk with IWS setup or u manually added the classpath after installation?
(2)Make sure you have the latest operating system patches installed. You can download them from Sun's web site.
(3)It may also be that the environment variable LD_LIBRARY_PATH isn't set. It should probably be set to "/usr/lib:/usr/ucblib". Make sure it is set correctly, and try the installation again.

I can't join a network, because everytime I type in the password, "join" turns grey. There's a lock sign next to the network name, but I'm not sure how to unlock it. Can you help me??
The way you "unlock" it is by typing in the correct password. The lock indicates a private network that requires a password. Are you sure you have the correct password? Is this your own home network?
Why don't you reboot your iPad and try to log in again. Hold down on the sleep button until the Apple logo appears on the screen, let go of the button and the iPad will shut off. Turn back on by pressing the sleep button again until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button. See if the iPad will accept your password.
If that doesn't work, you could try tapping the blue arrow next to the network name and then tap Forget This Network. Restart your iPad as described above. Then go back to settings, tap WiFi, select the network and enter the password again and see if it works. -

Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds).

To add to my original question: I had a 1st generation ipad and 32GB was more than enough storage now I'm having trouble making movies, adding media, etc. I have bought another 15GB of storage on I cloud. Can I put all of my apps on i cloud?
I'm going to be taking an overseas flight and wanted to rent a bunch of movies but I'm not sure how to do that.

sherrislpTo answer your question, you could remove your apps and then download them again as needed. Your purchased apps are part of what is stored in iCloud and purchased apps do not count against the allotment anyway - As far as I know.
You would want to backup to iCloud before you delete the apps. If it were me, I would also back up and sync with iTunes - I still use iTunes and I back up to both iCloud and iTunes.
The suggestion that James made would be OK for bringing the movies with you on the trip .... But you need to be able to use WiFi in order to use the device and the way that I read your question, you want to download movies to watch on the flight. So that will not work on the airline flight. It would store the content for later viewing but won't work on the flight. That is my understanding of the GoFlex drive, but you would have to investigate it further.

Can anyone help me figure out how to sync my ipod with my purchased music? I have used several computer and at one point synced my ipod with a computer that only had about half of my music. My other computers are no longer working. Not sure how to get my purchased music back onto my ipod?

Your previous purchases are saved on iCloud even if you bought them on another computer. If you can't find them on your current computer, you might need to unhide them. Go to iTunes preferences, and click on Store Preferences. Then click the box for "show iTunes in the Cloud purchases". Then click on OK, and everything you've ever bought from iTunes on that Apple ID will show up in your library. You will need to download them from iCloud first before you can synch them to your iPod Classic. To do this, click on the little cloud with the arrow in it next to your song, and it will download to your computer. When you have the music that you want downloaded, plug in your iPod and synch away. Hope this helps!

When using tethered capture I often get this notification "The metadata for this photo has been changed by both Lightroom and another application". This slows or stalls the loading of incoming photos. How do I find out which other application is changing the metadata and stop it?

I've had a look at the TC settings dialog and tried to keep it as simple as possible. I also had a copy of LR 4 on the hard drive so have trashed that also incase of any conflicts. LR seems to be running ok now but as said it's an intermittent problem.
I also have a copy of Capture One on the hard drive so am going to uninstall that also in case it is trying to launch. -
Do third party replacement tips fit on the apple in ear headphones? I prefer foam tips as they block out much more sound, but I'm not sure if Apple use the standard fitting for headphone tips!?!?!?!
Answer found. Please find below an amazon review explicitly mentioning adding third party foam tips. Sounds like they fit and work like a dream:
"As a audio engineer, I own about a dozen different sets of earphones and in-ear 'phones. My favorite, by far, are my sure SE530s. I have some Sennheiser cx400s which are good workhorses, but lack the finesse, clarity and stunning accuracy of the Shures. For convenience, I bought the Apple's, as I wanted something I could use with the phone for calls.
I found the sound to be quite clear and beautifully clean, but like many, no matter how I tried, the stock Apple tips never made a good seal. The seal is absolutely essential to getting bass out of a balanced armature design. For you non-engineers, just trust me that if you don't have a proper seal, you will have no bass.
In my case, I think the trouble had to do with the largest size being a tiny bit too small, and the silicon being too rigid, yet slick, so they left small airgaps and were easy to remove. I tried using some foam tips from a third party, but their large was more of a medium, and never came close to a snug fit.
As an experiment, I dug around in my ear-tips from my Shure's and tried their rubber tips which are about the same size as Apple's large tips, but made of a more pliant and slightly sticky rubber.
OMG, what a transformation. Suddenly the sound blossomed, the bass became rich and well balanced, and the "top-heavy" sound was totally mellowed into a rich, well balanced and incredibly detailed presentation.
Make no mistake, these are the best 'phones under $200 I have ever heard. The bass is deep and warm, very detailed, and totally lacking fuzz or buzz that I can hear in the Sennheiser set. Look at getting tips from a better headphone. The trick is it has to have a soft rubber base that can expand over Apple's slightly larger stub. Some tips, like the Shure foam tips, have a rigid plastic sleave in the tip to keep it's position correct, and these won't expand over the larger Apple posts." -
i'm currently using 3gs. My 'Personal Hotspot' option suddenly dissapear from my 'Settings'. How can i get my 'Personal Hotspot' option back?
The iOS5 upgrade for the iphone allowed network operators to control the availability of the 'personal hotspot' feature. If your operator is one of those who charge extra for tethering (and most do) then by upgrading to ios5 you've facilitated them to remove the option for you.
Apple bowed to the demands of the opertators on this one.
I am with Tesco(O2) and as soon as I upgraded to ios5 I lost the 'personal hotspot' option.
I have the last laugh though; They cant control my Android phone so I put the Tesco mobile sim into that when I want to use tethering.
Get an Android phone or if you're in the UK use Three mobile who allow tethering. -
I just got a retro clock from brookstone and in setting it up it asked if I want to use current location which is incorrectly "Buffalo" but I do not know how to change it. Can anyone help me find where to change location?
As I understand it, Apple gets your location from the wi-fi router to which your iPod is connected. Location Services identifies the router and then checks for its location in Apple's database. If the router has been recently relocated or if there is a glitch in Apple's database, you will get an incorrect location. I don't think that there is anything you can do about it. You could send Apple a message about the error, but I doubt if they would do anything about it.

A number of people have received similar messages in error. However their email doesn't usually get blocked. If you have confirmed that it is indeed blocked by sending yourself a test message, you will need to contact Support.

I have noticed that you have been trying to help out.
Let me offer some feedback, please.
Normal globals are OK if you have a value that is written by one entity ONLY. Multiple readers are are just fine. More than one writter can quickly lead to race conditions so they are habitually avoided by many experienced developers.
There is a common construct used in LV that is called by a number of different names i.e. LV2 global or Functional global.
Do a search on this site for many discusions toughting the benifits of a functional global.
I find that there are a number of benifits found in using these functional globals.
The first that comes to mind is that these constructs have a diagram so you can control exactly how they operate. (This is something that frustrated me when I was first starting out w/LV. What do you mean I can't get at the diagram?!)
Another benefit is that they take advantage of the nature of a "non-reentrant" VI in that only one entity can access a time thereby reducing the chances of race conditions. To do the same thing using normal globals, you have to build the global into an action engine or resort to using semaphores.
Next, they allow for the encapsulation of code. This is very helpful when you have situation where some shared data structures needs to be read, modified, and then written back. Doing this type of operation using normal globals is a disaster waiting to happen.
Next, LV2 globals can be served from one machine to another by using VI server techniques. Everything works the same as if the LV2 global was on the local machine.
Next, large blocks of data can be manipulated "in-place" (i.e. the operation is performed on the data in a single buffer instead of being copied, modified and then written back). ALL of the top entries in the LabVIEW Zone Dictionary Challenge used a variation on this construct.
So,
If the situation indicates that there is a single writter and multiple reads, globals are fine. Otherwise a LV2 global should be concidered.

I have downloaded the 30 day free trial using Adobe Download Assistant but I do not know how to open it and start using it.
This was so annoying!! It took me a good couple of hours but i figured it out, you need to do the following: Go to the folder where you saved the download (in my case i saved it in My Downloads) -> click on 'Adobe Photoshop Elements 12' -> click on 'PSE 12' -> click on 'Setup' (select the icon which is a box with a shield) -> follow instructions and....voila! You will need to restart when it suggests so save anything else first, then when it reboots you should see the icon on your desktop....hpe this helps!

When I go to About This Mac and click on Storage it shows 421.93GB as Other. This only leaves 46.85GB of 499.25GB free. How do I find out what this "Other" is so I can remove the stuff I don't need?
What kind of use do you make of your MBP? A lot of photo or video? If so, you may be storing a lot of large files. Look at Finder and see what the file system looks like. Do you have large libraries of data files associated with applications?
You may want to think about an external hard drive to use for backups and data storage, you can point applications to the external drive as the default storage location.

I bought their Mercury Elite Pro 2 TB dirve last September and set it up to use part for Time Machine backup and part for other work space. Setup with Disk utility into two partitions is very quick and easy. Just remember to format as Extended Journaled with GUID partition table. Setting the partition sizes is by using a braphical image on screen in DU so it is like falling off a log, so easy.
