I am evaluating Firefox to replace my AOL, how do in import my AOL Favorites into Firefox?

I am evaluating Firefox to replace my AOL, how do in import my AOL Favorites into Firefox?

First off we have the Favorites as 100+ *.url files that came from a PC... so no export command was used.
Regarding the first recommendation of opening every URL and adding it to our Bookmarks would take a long time... there are probably 300 "Favorites" in there.
Is there another way besides Exporting from IE... Since I did not do that and now just have 100s of .url files in one folder on my Mac's desktop?
Thank you for the replies!

  • How do you import Maxthon bookmark folders into Firefox (without doing each .url individually)?

Hi, I am trying to import all my bookmarks from Maxthon into Firefox,. Problem is all my bookmarks are in folders, but Firefox Import will only let me do one bookmark at a time. Is there any way to import all folders at one time or at least folder by folder? Thank you very much if you can help.

The Maxthon support site mentions using "Favorites > More Actions > Export Favorites" to export the favorites. If that does not export all of the favorites then I can not help. You could ask on the Maxthon support site about how to export all of the favorites to an HTML file.

  • How can I load my MS favorites into Firefox bookmarks

I have a lot of MS Favorites and I don't want to reference each page and bookmark it. Can I do mass copy?

If you have problems with importing the IE Favorites in Firefox then export the favorites in IE to an HTML file and import that file in the Firefox Bookmarks Manager.
If you do not have the menu bar in IE then right-click the toolbar at the top to enable the Menu Bar.
*Export the favorites in IE to an HTML file (bookmarks.html):<br>File > Import and Export
*Import the HTML file in Firefox:<br>Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks > Import & Backup > Import Bookmarks from HTML
See "Import from another browser" and "Import from file":

  • I have a mac pro how can i import/transfer my favorites from safari and google chrome to firefox ?

i have a MacBook Pro I usually use safari as my browser, i have downloaded firefox as well as google chrome. i would like to have my favorites i use for safari also for firefox, how do i do this ? i see they have step by step instructions but only for window users.thank you

Simple, call the 800 number Apple Store and they will provide link to download.
For some reason seems they think someone might mistake or be confused and... buy wrong OS (when they wanted Mountain Lion).
Be sure before running the install, to save the package file to USB flash + DVD and someplace safe so you don't have to redownload and so you can do clean install later if you need to (you can always install to a new alternate drive but most don't realize).
Also makes for a nice way to clean out, start fresh whatever your system has accumulated.
Lion lacks PowerPC code support via Rosetta so keeping a dual boot system of both at least for couple months is good idea too -
Setup Assistant will still import from your old system so it isn't like there is a lot of extra work with a clean install either.

  • Firefox can't find my AOL Favorites

Firefox can't find "my AOL favorites" when I click on it in "bookmarks" menu. Always worked before.

    Hello,
I am not sure you are able to just copy and paste your old profile. Create a new profile in Firefox (see [[Use the Profile Manager to create and remove Firefox profiles]]), then see the article [[Recovering important data from an old profile]] to find what you can salvage.
For future reference, you can quickly and easily backup your extensions and preferences with the following extensions:

    * https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/opie/

  • How can I import Firefox bookmarks, now stored in User folder on same (new) PC, into Firefox?

How can I import Firefox bookmarks, now stored in User folder on same (new) PC, into Firefox? I have exported the Firefox bookmarks from my old PC into a [Windows 8] folder on my new PC.
When I use the Firefox import facility, it will only import one bookmark at a time - and then it bookmarks all the main pages on the bookmarked website, not just the one which I originally bookmarked. It also does not import the information stored in the bookmark tag.

    Sure thing.

The profile is no longer located %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\
In windows 7 the all of the setting of Firefox 9 are located inside (Drive:\\My Documents\FireFox Settings) folder.
I have copied all of my old setting including bookmarks and cookies and they word perfectly.
However I have problem with saved passwords. I copied the files "signons.sqlite" and "key3.db" into (Drive:\\My Documents\FireFox Settings) folder but I don't have my password.

  • How do I import Bookmarks from Firefox 28.0 into Firefox 29.0.1?

How do I import Bookmarks from Firefox 28.0 into Firefox 29.0.1? I am running OS X 10.7.5 and just updated Firefox from 28.0 to 29.0.1. How do I import my old 28.0 bookmarks into 29.0.1? I've tried all the suggestions but nothing works. WHERE are my old bookmarks? Help, please!

Your bookmarks can be imported and exported from the Library (Bookmarks Manager).
*Go to the clipboard icon, click Show All Bookmarks <i>OR</i> press Cmd + Shift + B
*Once there, you'll see Import and Backup (see screenshot), you have a choice to choose between backing up as a JSON (Import and Backup -> Backup) or HTML (Import and Backup - > Export bookmarks to HTML)
Once this is done and the file has been backed up, you can import them using the same method (Import & Backup -> Backup for JSON/Import & Backup -> Import bookmarks from HTML (HTML)
One of our awesome contributors explained the difference between a JSON backup and a HTML backup that is very explanatory:
Restoring a JSON backup will replace all your current bookmarks (you get a warning about that), so if you already have bookmarks that you wish to keep then export them to an HTML file before restoring the JSON backup.
You can import that HTML file after you have restored the JSON backup to get your current bookmarks back (you need to remove duplicates).
You can't import a JSON backup to add (merge) bookmarks.
Importing bookmarks from an HTML file adds the imported bookmarks to the already existing bookmarks, so you may need to remove duplicates.
An HTML backup doesn't support tags and annotations, so if you want to preserve those then you need to use a JSON backup.
A JSON backup doesn't preserve the website favicons, so you need to visit a website to get back that favicon.

  • I was running Firefox on another computer that lost it's motherboard, was able to salvage the harddrive, but my mail files on the older hard drive have a different name, how can I pull or import those older files into firefox running on another computer?

I had been running other email clients for years and finally switched to Firefox. All the while importing my other email folders. So I had quite a large history of email. I had been backing up my system using Acronis for years. My desktop's motherboard crashed and was not worth repairing. I pulled my desktop hard drive and turned it in a standalone drive. I re-established my email on a laptop starting from scratch using Firefox. I would like to import (if possible) the emails history that is stored on the standalone drive (formerly my old hard drive). However, the names of the mail folders on the drives are different. For example: current computer the mail folder is named garlic.com. On the standalone drive (old hard drive) there are several folders and they are named, for instance; mail.garlic.com, mail.garlic-1.com , and so forth. it goes up through garlic-4.com.
How can I pull or import these older folders into my current email folder and see all my old email archives?

You are not going to be able to run your old system from the backup on this old computer as the hardware is incompatible.
You need to get a new computer or a refurbished one.

  • I am switching from XP to windows 7 at the same time you have changed firefox and my bookmarks are in a .json file. How do I import them?

I have a new computer. The old firefox made backups with .json files but I don't see how to import them. I've got one for bookmarks from 5-11.

To import a JSON backup into Firefox 4 on Windows 7.
First, open the bookmarks organizer ("Library") using
orange Firefox button > Bookmarks ''or''<br>
Bookmarks menu > Show All Bookmarks ''or''<br>
    Ctrl+Shift+b
On the menu bar (has a grayed out back and forward button on the left side), the third menu should be Import & Backup. Some people don't see the words, just the icon, which looks like a star with some green arrows forming a circle.
From that menu Restore > Choose File, and navigate to your JSON file.
    Any luck?

In Mail Preferences/Accounts/each GMail account, set up the SMTP Outgoing Server for each account separately, going into SMTP name/edit/Advanced and specify the Username of each account.  The Outgoing servers must be two different servers, authenticated by the Username and Password of each.
Otherwise, the GMail SMTP server will change the from address to that of the account where the SMTP server was setup.

To replace your phone's screen costs $109US and I don't see why having Apple replace the screen would void your warranty.
