If you have another Mac with an optical you might be able to use remote disk. Otherwise you'll need to either purchase software that can be installed from download or purchase an external disk drive. Practally any cheap drive from places like OWC, Amazon or NewEgg will work.

No, it's not normal.
Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).
Frankly though, considering it's new, take it back to Apple.

If you bought and downloaded it on that Mac then it should have downloaded into the Books section of your iTunes library, is it not in there ?

Using separate_frame=true and trying to close the applet window after...

We are using separate_frame=true and trying to close the applet window (the one with the large gray box) after using the following post-form trigger:

This works fine for the first form we open, but if that same form using Open_Form to open a child form we have a problem. When the child form is closed the user is returned to the parent calling form (which is expected), but then when the parent form is closed the separate applet window fails to close. Any suggestions?

I guess you mis-interpreted the value of :SYSTEM.LAST_FORM. From the online-help:
SYSTEM.LAST_FORM represents the form document ID of the previous form in a multi-form application, where multiple forms have been invoked using OPEN_FORM.So LAST_FORM shows always the ID of the last activated form, and this will never be 0 if you issued one OPEN_FORM in your application.

Strange problem with new iBook G3 battery

I'm facing a strange problem with the new battery I've bought for my 12" iBook G3 800MHz (full specs PowerPC G3 800MHz CPU, 640MB SDRAM 133MHz, DVD-ROM, 20GB HDD, running OSX 10.4.11)..So I've got this laptop two months ago from a friend who wasn't using it anymore, and the original battery was almost dead: 141mAh of maximum charge was giving me about 6 minutes of work. I've recived the new battery yesterday (it was completely charge-less: the indicator lights weren't working), but it has this curious problem: when the iBook is off, it won't charge. I gave it a full charge with the laptop on, up to 100% (4414mAh), and was working fine. But this morning it started going crazy: osx gets bad charge readings, since the percentage jumps randomly from the correct value (and there stays about 2-3 minutes) to 3-4% or 100%. The battery itself is working: only readings are really bad. And there's still the odd "I'm not charging while iBook's off" problem..I'm currently trying to calibrate the battery: could that be the problem? I've already made PRAM, NVRAM and PMU resets..ideas? Hi. I run an HTML script which in turn runs my Web Form and quickly closes the initial IE window (for neatness). However, it the user first is prompted:
"The webpage your are viewing is trying to close the window.
Do you want to close this window?"
Do you know what causes this and how I can surpress the message?

I am trying to close the APP Store and restart it because it because the applications do not show up when I load the APP Store. When I doubled clicked on the home button the task bar does not show up but rather the keyboard comes up and closes.
I also restarted the iPad by holding down the home button and sleep buttons.

I can't! Tried to deleteit from the iphone and from itunes but the X doesn't appear!

Yes....It happens all the time. I also erased my HD and installed Snow Leopard but with no success. Tried lots of REBOOTING but nothing worked for me.As I have already installed the new OSX I think there is no need to go through the below procedure. What do you suggest?
Before you go through the ritual of reinstalling the entire system just try to do a "factory reset" of your bluetooth environment. To do this you need to run the Bluetooth Explorer which is a utility installed as part of XCode.
1. Launch Bluetooth Explorer.
2. Select the "Modify Software & Device Configuration" from the Utilities menu.
3. Keep the first 4 checkboxes checked (one will say "Full factory reset").
4. Click "Perform actions" button (lower right of window).
5. Reboot (possibly the Reboot NOW button will work, if not just do a normal reboot).
Hopefully that will clear your problem(s) so you can re-pair your bluetooth devices.
