I am getting a message stating that consolidation of time capsule is required

For the second time in two months, I am getting a message suddenly appearing, that states that Time Capsule needs to consolidate my back-ups and asking me if it can do it now or the following day. It tells me that all beck-ups will need to be deleted as part of this consolidation, and that another, new, full back will have to take place. Is this a genuine message - or have I been hacked please???  I am most concerend because last time I lost everything that hed been backed up for the last six months. It is a 2TB capsule with only some 87 Gb backed up on it.

Bob - I think I may have determined what has caused the corruption of my back-up data, it all points to my Sonos system.
I have an iMac here in my upstairs study, with the Time Capsule sitting on the same desk. Outside this study, on the landing sits my Sonos SS. My Router is downstairs, and the Sonos Bridge is connected directly to that. I do not use the Wi-fi facility of my Time Capsule, as airport seems to find my downstairs server without any problems.  The other day I was using 'Pages', the Sonos was playing music from my iTunes library, when the time capsule came on. As I typed into Pages, the sound on the Sonos started breaking up in sync with the key presses. Later I got an error message from time machine saying it could not find the back-up disc.
So I am now guessing that there was/is some form of conflict between Sonos and Time Capsule. Both using the same server, located downstairs, those two, plus the iMac, all sharing a common Wi-fi access - Hmmm???

    Are you trying to install the 32-bit version on a 64-bit machine, or vice versa?

    The best option is to copy your entire iTunes folder from your old computer to your new one using one of the methods described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527.  This will allow iTunes on your new computer to recognize and sync with your phone without deleting content.  You will also need to copy over any other synced data not in your iTunes library such as photos synced to your phone, calendars and contacts.
    If you can't do this, these articles will help you start syncing with your new computer with minimal or no data loss:

    If you see Devices in the big list on the left-hand side of iTunes, it should show the name of your iPhone right below it. You can right-click (or hold ctrl and left click) on the name of the iPhone there, and choose "transfer purchases from iPhone".
    If you're on iTunes 11, you won't see the big list of the left until you go to the View menu at the very top (where you see iTunes/File/Edit/View/etc) and choose Show Sidebar. Then do the same thing: right-click or ctrl and left-click on the iPhone's name below Devices and "transfer purchases from iPhone".
    It'll ask you to authorize the computer for your Apple ID if you haven't yet; to do that, you just type your Apple ID and password in when it asks. If it says you are not authorized but doesn't automatically give you an option to do so, then you can go to the Store menu at the very top and choose "authorize this computer".

    At present I have no power to the Gen 7, so need to get some power to it I think.  I pressed the buttons as you suggested, but nothing is showing up at this point.  Thank you for your response as the more I can rule out before  I take it back the better I think.

    I was refering to the "sample rate", normally 44.1 KHz, the iPod might not be able to play tracks with a non-standard rate. Otherwise I'm not sure what the issue might be.

    Close iTunes and disconnect the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
    Choose Start > Control Panel.
    Inside the Control Panel, open Administrative Tools.
    Open Services.
    Select Apple Mobile Device and click Stop the service as shown below:
    After the service has stopped, click Start the service.
    After the Apple Mobile Device service has started again, open iTunes and connect the device.

    Close iTunes and disconnect the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
    Click the Windows Start button .
    In the Start Search field type Services.

    I had to dispute several unauthorized charges to itunes. My apple id was disabled after that. I followed jarnoldus's (older post) advice and it worked. Im duplicating his entry here with a few modifications. I hope this works for you.
    1. Go to https://getsupport.apple.com
    2. Choose your product (mine was ipad)
    3. Click the "iTunes, App Store or iBooks" icon
    4. Click "Apple ID account security"
    5. Type in "apple id has been disabled"
    6. Choose your country (mine was US)
    7. Choose the "talk to apple support now" option
    8. Provide the info they request (name, email, phone number)
    9. They will call you right away.
    Explain your apple id has been disabled. The rep will connect you to an iTunes rep. He/she will look up your account. You will be required to answer your 3 security questions. You MUST get a minimum of 2 correct. If you succeed they will enable your id. Good luck!

    the apps will not be deleted if the itunes is authorised for the apple id from which you downloaded the apps.
    for the songs if you have downloaded it from a store other than itunes an app "TuneAid" will help you. download the full version then you can copy all the songs on the ipad to ur itunes library

    Sounds like Firefox is "hanging at exit". That problem is frequently caused by an Extension or a Plugin. Read all of the following articles.<br /><br />

    What are you trying to do?  If you have a brand new machine, you don't need to download and install Mavericks.  You already have it.
