I am getting a plugin update screen when I open Firefox. How do I disable this.
I am running W2K SP4. Most of the plugins are for XP or newer, so I really can't update. This screen is really annoying. I just want to disable this.
That is a bug with blocklisting plugins that has been fixed.<br />
You can correct this issue by forcing the file blocklist.xml to update or wait until Firefox updates the file.<br />
That update will remove the severity="0" flags in the file that cause the problem.

I do not want the new tab with apps opening up when I open Firefox, how do I fix this?
I just want the home page to open without the new tab with a search bar on it.
Sometimes home page changes are caused by a new extension, or by external software modifying your Firefox settings. These can sneak in when you install other software, as many free programs include a bundle of less useful stuff.
Could you check your extensions for anything nonessential or unrecognized? Open the Add-ons page using either:
* Ctrl+Shift+a
* "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. Then, if in doubt, disable. Or if it's obviously rubbish, remove.
If the Remove button is missing for an extension, you usually can find a way to remove it using the Windows Control Panel, Uninstall a Program (or whatever it is called now in Windows 8.1). Clicking the "Installed on" column heading to sort by date is useful in finding and removing unknown bundle items or other untrustworthy additions.
Once your system is clean, does your preferred home page show up, either immediately or after updating the setting in Options? -
I have a new ipad and everything works but can't connect to the app store. Itunes works and the wifi seems to be working but i get a blank white screen when i open the appstore. Nothing will load unter the features or charts tab so i cant download any apps. Purchased and updates tab loads fine. Any suggestions?
You would get better response from the iTunes community forum.

I have used Firefox forever. (I also use Thunderbird.) When I opened Firefox all I get now in the menu bar is the word "Firefox" with the "About Firefox," "Preferences," etc. list. Nothing else. I cannot open Firefox and I cannot quit it, either. I can do nothing with it at all. How can I get it back. I need my hundreds of bookmarks.
I use a MAC with Lion 10.7.5
Please help. Thank you.

I recently uploaded the latest version of McAfee Security Center and the latest version of Firefox. Now when I open Firefox all I get is "500 Internal Server Error." I am now sure what do to.
There is an existing thread which might help you with this : see
https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/780053
For background information, see the Wikipedia article on HTTP Codes at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_HTTP_status_codes
- and, if you want more information, there's a page explaining the 500 Error [http://www.checkupdown.com/status/E500.html HERE]
In brief, the 500 means that your request has reached the server but the server cannot process it, for some unspecified reason. It is not a client-side error message. -
How do I disable the Plugin Update tab when I start Firefox?
Whenever I start Firefox, a second tab entitled "Plugin Update" opens. I do not recall enabling it anywhere, and I would like to disable it, but I do not know how. Might you be able to point me in the right direction?
Type '''about:config''' in the URL bar and hit Enter. <br />
''If you see the warning, you can confirm that you want to access that page.''
Pref = '''plugins.update.notifyUser''' -- if it shows as True, double-click that pref to toggle it to '''False''' -
I'm having no problems with my plugins, I'm having problems with the NOTICE of plugin updates opening before my desired webpage does. How do I stop this?
If you have problems with updating then best is to download the full version and uninstall the currently installed version.
You may need to remove the Firefox program folder to do a clean install of the new version.
Do a clean (re-)install:
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
* Firefox 4.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
* Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
* Do not remove personal data if you uninstall the current version.
* It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder] and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox. -
Blank black screen when I open Firefox
Hi everyone,
Thanks in advance for your help. I have noticed over the last week that whenever I open Firefox, I have a blank black screen. I have uninstalled and reinstalled but the problem still exists. After some research, I started Firefox in safe mode in which it opened but after closing the window and re-opening the Firefox window, the blank black screen still appeared.
Can anyone offer any suggestions on how to rectify this problem?
Thank youDid this happen when you updated to Firefox 33? Many Windows 7 users with integrated Intel graphics have not updated their graphics drivers for a long time, and Firefox 33 is incompatible with the older drivers.
The temporary workaround is to disable Firefox's use of hardware acceleration, but the long term solution is to update the Intel software. Please see this thread for step-by-step and links: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/1025438

How can i stop annoying plugin page appearing when i open firefox
Every time i open firefox i get annoying info telling me about plugins.
How do i get rid of thisAll the software you are running on your computer is extremely old, out of date and leaving you open to gaping wide security flaws online.
This is how to update your software, get rid of the prompt, and be safer online :)
Install Firefox 17.0.1. [[Update Firefox to the latest version]]
Visit https://www.mozilla.org/plugincheck/, and update all the vulnerable plugins from there.
OR, to make this even easier, just use http://ninite.com/firefox-flash-java-reader-vlc/ninite.exe to update all this software with one installer -
When the add-ons are updated, a webpage appears stating that the update was successful. In the past I would exit the tab and this notice would not appear again. However, these pages appear to be persisting when I close Firefox down and then reopen immediately and later. I have tried deleting all history and cookies, and resetting the home page multiple times, but none of these have done the trick. The version of Firefox I'm using is the latest version (7.0.1). I use Win 7 (64-bit).
History: this all started when my AddonFox add-on updated in September and notice web page saying it updated appeared. This has kept reappearing each time I enter Firefox. In addition since then, an update for the ReadItLater (v. 2.1.3), ColorfulTabs, and IE Tabs add-on updates have caused the same issue. As a result, whenever I enter Firefox, my homepage opens, as well as the notification pages that these four add-ons have updated.See:

This can also be a problem with the file [http://kb.mozillazine.org/sessionstore.js sessionstore.js] and sessionstore.bak in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder]
Delete [http://kb.mozillazine.org/sessionstore.js sessionstore.js] and sessionstore.bak in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder]
If you see files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js then delete those as well.

I've just switched computers and downloaded Firefox onto my new machine. It runs Win-7, so I get MSN's inane home page with celebrity news and ads every time I open Firefox. How do I change it to, let's say, plain vanilla Google?

Several days ago firefox crashed when opening and it does so every time i try to open it now. I am able to use internet explorer perfectly. In fact one way i discovered i can still open firefox is by using Advanced System Care (which i installed after the crashing so it was not in any way responsible) and going to 'test bandswidth'. Because firefox is my default browser it opened it up. I was able to enter safe mode in this way and restart firefox in safe mode. I then set firefox so that all plugins and extensions were disabled but this did not help. I am running the default theme. I will be happy to provide any further information if anyone can help..thanks in advance.

Note that the Aurora (28.0a2) and Nightly (29.0a1) build are updated daily and can be unstable being alpha releases.<br />
You always need to install such a version alongside of the current release via a custom install and use a separate profile for each Firefox version.
Make sure not to start Firefox after the installation has finished and use the Profile Manager to create a new (separate) profile for each version.<br />
Do a custom install in a different program folder and use the Profile Manager to create a new profile for this version, so make sure not to start Firefox after the installation has finished.

My firefox tabs are blank when i open them, how do i fix this?
this happend when i updated adobe before i opened it. most o the time when i press the edit button it fixes itself so that i can see the tabs, but it just stays blank. i updated everything i could think of and removed others, but nothings really working. i have already shut down/restarted my comp. but thats not working ether.
See Remove minor corruption by exporting to find the path to the hidden folder in your user profile that has the InDesign SavedData file. In the same folder you will find an InDesign Recovery folder. Empty that and ID should start OK.
