I am getting a PostScript error and need some help

I am trying to download an Illustrator file from my online class and am getting this message: %%[ Warning: PostScript error. No PDF file produced. ]%%. Is there a simple solution, I have done everything that I know how to do. I have installed Illustrator CS6 and uninstalled CS5 from my computer and I have Acrobat XI pro installed. Please help.

It isn't clear what you are doing with this PostScript file. What are you doing, and where do you get the error?
Also, are there any other lines of messages first, this isn't actually an error, just tells you there was one.

I think I made a major error and need some help.

Well, I sort of knew this was a bad idea but you know how it goes sometimes. I put the Tiger OS disk from my intel imac to try and get garageband to use on the portable. Those of you who are smarter than me know what happened next the computer boots into a horrible looking kernal situation and says: holding here. I have tried booting in safe mode to no avail and the disk will not come out. Did I kill my powerbook? is there any fix for this? I would greatly appreciate any help on this matter.

Okay have you tried to zap the P-Ram using optioncommand/apple+pr when booting up until you hear the chimes/dingdong type sound ?
Alternatively shiftctrl+commandpower button = immediate shutdown and will reset the bios + clock/time.
You can also try to hold down the option key just after pressing the power on button and holding it till a blue/purple screen appears to show start up disks and then after all rotating thingy's stopped click the eject button or press the eject button.
Also there is something like pressing the right mouse button using an external mouse while booting or something like this ??
It has been some time since I tried it.
PS: If you need garage band once the OSX is up and running you should be able to insert the disk and install optional programs IE: Garage band etc.
I usually right click / ctrl click on the install disk where the Install Tiger icon is and select "SHOW PACKAGE CONTENT" and then browse for files looking for garageband.pkg or similar.
Usually in the system/library/packages folder that is hidden on the install disk or similar , you have to search for it and copy it off for future use.
There is a app that can enable hidden files or make it back to what it is now but I have forgotten the name , just search macupdate.com for "hidden files" and you will find many options.

Error 1603: Need some help with this one

When installing iTunes I first get an error box saying
"Error 1406: Could not write value to key \Software\classes\.cdda\OpenWithList\iTunes.exe. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel."
The second one (after I click on Ignore on the last box) I get it this one:
"Error: -1603 Fatal error during installation.
Consult Windows Installer Help (Msi.chm) or MSDN for more information"
Strange thing is that I do have full access to my computer (or atleast in all other cases I have had since I am the only one with an account on it).
I have done my best in trying to solve it myself but I'm running out of ideas. I have downloaded latest versions from the website and tried installing Quicktime separately. I have also tried removing Quicktime using add/or remove programs though I just I didn't dare to take full removal because it said something about system files.
Anyway I really need some help with this, anyone got any ideas?

BIG Pickle---i have a B-TREE error and need B-HELP !!!!

I speciffically bought this G4 cuz it was suppose be a bit different......called a 'custom built' dual 1.2.5 G4 mmd. i got it right when the G5 was introduced and yes this time i new about the new 32 bit arch. and all the new goos stuff....BUT.......i needed to run my OS9 apps.......would have cost me thouse and to upgrade everything.
my point is......was that true......i was told that a G5 could not run OS9 either could many of the new G4s.......so whats all this about 'partitioning'.......why couldn't i have partisitned a new G5 to run 'classic' or OS9.2.2 ?
I say all this cuz even though i have adabted slowly to OSX, i still need my OS9 for many things........BUT IT DOESN'T WORK !!!......i startup in ( and get a BOMB error-2 what turns out to be a [B-Tree -keys out of order] but can't be fixed by first aid.......CAN'T.
So what was so 'custom' about this G4 ?
-1 what app-fix-utility will fix this B-Tree ?
(must be something other then clean-install)
-2 can anyone tell me what made this G4 cost 2400 at the same time a new G5 cost the same ?
(was that a scam to sell out their stock OR like in may cases as techknowledgy moves on sometimes there are certain things that have unique properties that you won't see again)
The b tree issue only happenes apon trying to open OS9, even in seperate HDs. i emailed 'disk warrior' and they can't say for sure......so im hoping a real MAC addact can help me.

Ok Carl.......I have what is called a 'dual-boot' G4, w/ dual 1.2.5. I bought it the same month the G5 came out and you bet i wanted that 32-bit arch i had been reading about....BUT more then one sales person told me that to 'their knowledge' the new G5 and even the recent G4s weren't designed to run OS9..........and remember, before {X] was [9]....and that was the big deal, well like many of us all my apps were OS9 and after hearing that i felt i would need to upgrade litterly EVERYTHING which would cost even more then the fancy G5, so to play it safe i blew 2400 on this dual-boot which Apple was advetising as the G5 came out so i never got a definitive answer if i made the right choice........i explain all this cuz i assumed this B-tree error would have been one of the issues the dual-boot would have been designed to deal with.
All that being said, im still not a 'pro'.....serious amature so i don't have the funds to continully keep up-grading this 'tool' that i use to edit basic video-music projects on. I get it to work just how i like it and am comfortable with, and viola'.......i need not one or two apps but several to do what i did PERFECTLY yesterday, i can't even go to the new sleek apple site and view the new FCP cuz i don't have the latest QT cuz i don't have the latest OS.........to me that is absurd .
Ok sorry about the rant but it does pertain to this. There are some cool FX i simply can't do in OSX cuz i don't have all the same plugins i did in 9......follow........so i open OS9 from startup disc and get this ERROR 2.......i did try to fix from outside reapair app and got the same mess. saying it can't be fixed with that.
funny thing is i was forced to do a clean install last year on my main HD, moved all apps and files to HDD2.......so not sure how this happened, i allso have issues w/ TRASH while im in OSX from this main HD, they 'dissapear' but don't delete space........"where do they go?????" i also have these phantom zero k files that can't be trashed, they all have this weird 'nunununununu' after the ext. I click on it and BOOM it vanishes, then reapears. i think they are linked to PC files that got in here.
any idea what that is ?
so im hoping that all this is related to this B-tree deal.........so if it simply a matter of DISK WARRIOR....what version do i try, remember im still using [OS 10.2.8]

Would Like to Get an IPod but I Need Some Help

Hey-
I tried an iPod (2 that is) when the first ones came out, and I broke them from installing the software when it was already installed. (at least that is what I was told). But it said to begin by installing the provided software.) I still see how far they have come so I am here wanting any advice on what is available and what some iPod- experts would recommend for someone who has a hard time with technology stuff like this. (Plus the good am/FM radios to use while exercising are getting to be nearly nonexistent.)
I have done some serious reading up on them and have looked up some of the iPod Manuals that people write to help the less "commonsense" people like myself.
I am really interested in the iPod classic since it seems to have the least of what I really do not want like videos (which it might have) more basic controls are a plus, and the ability to set it up so I can upload the music in iTunes.
I hope somebody or several people have some recommendations, things to help me that I would not think of, if the earplugs are not the best for exercising, do you know of a brand that is?
Any pointers learned from experience and places to go to help me understand what it is when I actually do get one, etc.
I really appreciate any help in this broad area, even if you think my post is lame So, in advance--THANKS!

HI! Just read your post and the reply by roaminggnome and I would say he gives you all the information you need to know except for what color you like.
I likely know less than you even do regarding the iPod but, that said, I have owned four of them. However, all bought within the last 18 months. So, I do not know of what it used to be like before then. All I can say is that I am a PC guy so Apple stuff didn't really catch my attention until I started listening the Rush Limbaugh to get the news about politics that the press seems to think is too much for us or something. I didn't really have three hours a day during the time he is on so I then heard about "podcasts." I found that I could listen to him anytime I wanted to if I just downloaded the podcasts he had of his show each day. So, I backed into the iPod or MP3 player rather than looked for one because they were a new item. I am now 59 years old and have been using computers since 1965 and I got out of the "Its new so I have to own the best and the latest" thing in my 40's. Now, having grown up, I buy what I really want because it will actually improve my life somehow, rather than just to show off.
The point being that I had become somewhat "hardware illiterate" but when my son came home from doing 5 years in the Army - doing war stuff, and we got to know each other again, I realized that my son had become me when I was his age. He had +it all+ five times over. (The pay is much better than when I was in!) He had iPods, iPhones, etc. all over the place but, like I said, until I needed something to listen to Rush, I didn't even ask about it.
So, when I finally got one, I really knew nothing! I had to read the directions (I am a CPA so I know how to do that.) to find out what to do. I think I remember that things had to be done in a certain order so read the directions. Sorry if what I am remembering is the directions to something else. But I found that reading the directions sure saves me a lot of work anyway - especially in the computer software area. I found the directions easy and had no problems whatsoever. In that way, roaminggnome is quite correct. It is so automatic that even a cave man could do it. Seriously. Learning iTunes seems harder to me than the iPod thing, however. Reading some of the iPod stuff on the net (a book is not included except for setting it up but running it requires going online.) is quite worth it when trying to use it the way you like.
The iTunes Store is where I get the free podcasts and found that lots of shows have them - especially political venues. However, you can buy almost anything you want to listen to from their store. It was a fabulously ingenious thing to create because it all works so well together (great marketing idea) (Store, Podcasts, and iPod) and they make money almost every step of the way. Its like an addiction after a while anyway. I need another song, I need another song, I'd do anything to get a podcast of the guy I just heard on the radio! And like that.
It all works quite easily and is about as hard as turning on your computer and plugging your iPod into the special cord they provide with it - which is always plugged into a USB Port on my computer. Plugging it in starts up iTunes and, depending on how you set it up in iTunes, it begins to upload to your device automatically (My son bought me the classic for Christmas last year and I always use that one now,) So, all you have to do each day, once it is set up, is to plug it in and walk away. It will load up your choices and charge the battery after that. Of course, you already know all that don't you?
I use my iPod when I work out. I do that twice a day for about a total of three hours at least five times a week. I am in remission from a terminal disease so I want to be in the best shape possible for when I end up with cancer to try and make it through the treatments. Being 59 and seeing how the government is going to trash our health care just so he can cover millions of illegals and after reading the entire House bills with addendums, I know that my chances of getting a liver now is absolutely nil. There is no use keeping an old guy alive who can add nothing to the greater good, right? At least that is what Robert Reich (A Clinton appointee) who advises Obama said. "If you are in your 80's, we aren't going to waste medicine on you just so you can last a few more months. We're going to let you die." I appreciate honesty even when it doesn't go my way. At least I know what I am up against now. But the reality is, in a socialist environment, I will be a liability - a toxic asset and will be thrown out like yesterday's news. The country I once put my life on the line for - voluntarily - thinks of me as a problem now. The greatness of the individual and the American dream had died now and after being able to experience actual freedom in the 50's and 60's, having it taken away from me has left me so I do not really care about dieing anymore. I would rather die free than live in chains. If China wants to, they will literally own us if they do now cut Obama's nightmare borrowing and spending off quick. (Did you know that Obama is counting a raise as a new saved or created job?) Who the **** let him get away with such a phony number without learning to quantify how he gets to these numbers anyway? Talk about pulling numbers out of thin air!) The press would have NO idea how he gets these numbers, they just print it. We now have an affirmative action president who is too big to fail. And kids are now forced to learn Obama praise songs in schools. They can't read or write but they can chant Obama rap in over 20 different schools (See breitbarttv.com for proof. They did the exposes on the Acorn criminal business - of which have been incorporated under 300 different business names but are all Acorn and SEIU and share the same offices many times. This is a nightmare akin to the way Hitler took control of the citizens. He started by owning their bodies because of "health care." Once they own your health - they own you!) It lead to him declaring Jews unfit to live and that is the excuse he used for euthenasia of the old, sick, and Jew alike. He wanted to create the perfect German. That is what can happen if you sell out your personal freedoms for a thing you may hardly need for most of your life - health care. You can pay for your own before you are 50 for the most part and get catastrophic insurance for those kinds of sicknesses, like mine, that most people never even get until their 80's, if at all, and be far ahead financially. Getting old is not a sickness. It is a wearing out. Are old people worthless because they finally wore out living life and paying taxes in American now? Sick! But instead of free insurance, like these young kids foolishly think they are going to get will cost anyone who has a job, it costs actual money and they will be forced to buy this crappy insurance since all private insurances will go broke trying to compete with an entire government that does not have to make a profit because they can tax us for all the money they need (Once unconstitutional and some of this still is.)
Anyway, now that I learned from roaminggnome about the disk drive being located in my iPod rather than just a flash drive, I will start to use my old 2 gig one for working out. Mine is the 120 gig size and I hardly use any of it except for a few TV shows I missed (Yes it has a screen) and music and podcasts to listen to while I work out. I use about 3 or 3.5 gigs of the 120 possible.
One thing that roaminggnoe said about the earlier ones is that my 2 gig says it can allow me to use the drive as another one on my computer or something like that. So that puzzles me.
I have to mention about the ear buds though. The ones that come with it do not have a better sound than ones you can buy. However the ones that come with it are best for working out if you use the bud type rather than the earphone type I see some using at the club, The ones that come with it allow air to get into your ear which keeps the buds dry from sweat. The ear buds that you can buy that have better sound allow your ear canal to fill up with sweat so listening to music or whatever is like listening to it under water! No kidding! I had to take them out while one the orbital machine and try and dry my ears out while jumping up and down on that machine without falling off. The Apple buds stay dry and you can still hear others around you that might be trying to get your attention there.
Anyway, sorry I wasted so much of your time. I just wanted to assure you that even one so uninformed as I could use the new iPods, right out of the box I think it is great and I am glad I now know how to use it. I just wish I could learn how to download the podcasts in the order done on the air of shows longer than one hour. Each podcast is one hour and they always download in the wrong order - completely backwards from how they played the show. I also wish I could have it automatically play them in order instead of having to stop and select each one each hour. The music shuffles, why not the podcasts? I do find that a bit strange. Oh well, you've likely already made the purchase so you can just delete this rather than to waste your time reading it.

Chain step is being skipped and need some help with why?

I'm hoping for some help from the community again.
There's a chain created (code below) and it's running successfully -- at least it's building MOST tables.
The problem is: the last three tables are all dependent on the same condition and only two of them run.
From the code below, step 4, step 5 and step 6 are all dependent on the success of step 3.
When the job for this chain is run, all the steps run successfully except for step 5.
The interesting thing (to me at least) is that whichever table build is step 5 fails. For example, in the code below prog_Y is assigned to step 5 and it fails. If I swap prog_Y to step_4 and prog_X to step_5, step_5 still fails. Same result if prog_Z is listed as step 5. While steps 4 and 6 run successfully.
The additional info in job run details lists: table or view does not exist. However, I've confirmed the procs behind the programs each run successfully and the tables do exist.
I've tried several things to get more info: changing the step numbers.dropping/redefining step, dropping chain and redefining, retyping the steps and rules.
Please help. Any suggestions of why this step 5 might be failing or where to look for more information is super helpful.

Looks like this may have been a self-inflicted error.
There were some other errors that confound this explanation. But right now this seems to be the most likely case.
The END condition initially was step 6 completed. Turns out, when step 3 succeeded, all steps 4, 5 and 6 were kicked off simultaneously. Well, step 6 had a shorter run time than step 5. So step 6 would finish and trigger the end of the chain before step 5 finished.
This has been consistently working since the END condition was updated to evaluate steps, 4, 5 and 6.

I am working on a Java project. I am working a programme to show sets of requirements to a software engineer. At the end the programme will show all consistent requirements with no conflicts between them.
I am working on the first section. This invloves creating a class with a HashSet to insert the requirements in to the class. I am using this code at the moment

I have a treo 700wx working on Sprints network and running on windows mobile version5. I am a BIG game freak and am looking to download a playable version of Maniac Mansion (any version) and I dont know how to go about doing this. Hi.. Welcome to the Palm forums. This process is used to install any 3rd party program onto your 700wx. First connect the usb cable and sync. Now on your computer go on the web and find you program/game you are looking for that is in a windows mobile 5 format, compatable with wm5 and download it to your computer. It will be a compressed file in a .zip format most likely. Go to where you saved the file and right click on it and select extract here. Once extracted you should have a setup file which you run to install the program. Follow that process and it will realize it is a windows mobile file and install it accross the cable to the 700wx. When it is finished on the computer it will tell you to check the 700wx for further instructions. At that point check the screen on the device and follow the directions. The key is to download a file that is windows mobile compatable, if you download a palm os format file or other mobile operating system file it will not install. Hope that helps.

HELP! I'm new at this and need some help getting started

I am currently working on our website and was wondering how do I make a new page?
for example.
I want people to click on a link on the homepage to say a stockist list and see another page open with that information on.
Also I need to know how to make the homepage have white strips on the left and right (for an example of what I mean please visit www.internationalrobes.com)

Well, these are more web design related questions, but I will help as much as I can in the context.
Going about adding a page:
1) Navigate to Admin > Layout > Static pages
2) Add a new static page here and enter your content
3) Once it is saved, you should see an eyeglasses icon next to the page and you can copy that url and use it in a link.
4) For example

As far as the white stripes, I think you mean centering a page?
1) Edit the main master page under your theme

TS1368 Can't fully access iTunes store and need some help. Error code 1202

I can't fully access the iTunes store. In iTunes, I can't view graphics on the main page; the text is not formatted; links result in a message that an unkonwn error has occurred (-1202).

I need to call some privileged APIs and need some help on this.

First the Basics:
This program auto-launches each time a user logs in. It is an authentication type of program. Only users with this app running will be allowed to use a secure network.
I need to be able to read and write from the route / arp tables, and possibly be able to 'reset' a network adapter. These are the privileged APIs I need to call. I have only found "UNIX" APIs to do this, no apple APIs although I am sure they would have the same restrictions.
Anyway, what I don't want is that elevate privileges prompt each time a user logs in. I am sure this would become very annoying.
Possible solutions (I have no idea how to do these):
1. The installer sets it up to run with admin / privileged access when it starts. I only know how to get a program to start with user privileges (the one that logged in).
2. The installer flags / registers something that this app can make those API calls. IE: The App is trusted.
3. The program is split in to two parts and uses Interprocess communication to talk to the privileged part. This still leaves problem #1, how do you get an app to launch as privileged.
Any other ideas and suggestions would be welcomed.

What you normally do in this case is write a kernel extension that does all the work and then have a user interface that the user runs. What you are describing sounds very much like a VPN. This is exactly how the Cisco VPN software works, for example.

I'm a newb to OS9 and need some help

Hey everyone, I just picked up a wallstreet powerbook, and i put a 30GB HD in it, i read about the 8GB boot limit, and partitioned accordingly, but now when i put the install disk in, i can't install itunes! It opens up with stuffit, and says "The Disk with your preffered destination folder is currently locked" Error-44, then i hit ok, but after that i have no idea what to do! Should i install apps on the System Disk (I have a System Disk and a Storage Partition) and just have all the docs (music and what not) 0n the storage? I'm prolly just gonna xpostfacto it soon and put panther on it, but i kinda like OS9, so can someone help me?

That message, or one similar to it, is usually returned when the destination disk for the installer is set as a CD. Since a CD can not be written to, it is treated by the OS as if it were a locked volume.
You will need to select a volume on a hard drive as the destination. I suspect that the iTunes installer will need to install a few items in the OS 9 System Folder, so a good choice for a destination would be the volume you have installed OS 9 onto.

In a Bind and Needing Some Help ASAP

I need my MacBook Pro with Safari (latest version) and OS X 10.6.6 tomorrow for a presentation and I tried just like I did with the last Flash update to install it and I messed things up. TechTracker told me there was an update for Flash so I clicked "yes" to download and install. I am new to TechTracker and installing Flash, but whatever happened my MacBook is not useable right now and it was before I clicked "OK" to update Flash.
I also tried it on my own, but there must be more detailed instructions than what Adobe makes obvious to newbies (Flash update newbies).
since I use Safari as my browser, it shows what plug-ins I have on a webpage that is part of Safari browser. First off, is it too early to update to the latest version of Flash? is this a program that I should wait awhile when a newer version comes out?
If it is OK to go ahead and update Flash, can somebody lead me to a link or website that explains how to update Flash? it obviously is not like other programs, because I have done the install ust like I would other programs or updates but I am not getting it right.
I would really appreciate it if somebody could guide me through the process or send me to a site that explains what I need to do.
Finally, I have heard that Shockwave Player (which is not installed on my macBook Pro) is a great program along with Flash to have on my macBook pro. is this true or am I risking causing more conflicts and/or problems by installing shockwave for macs once I get Flash straightened out.

Brand new to the Mac World and NEED SOME HELP with startup disk issues

Hello everyone. I am a new Mac user and I purchased my mac on ebay. It's an iMac that came with tiger 10.4.11. I wanted to get a fresh start on the computer, since the person who had it before me did not erase all of his stuff. I didn't know what to do so I got a startup disk/install disk off ebay also. When I go to install it says "software cannot be installed on this computer." Before I bought the software, I had called the apple store and they said it should be fine to buy any install software to put on the computer. If I could get any help it would be appreciated. I had read previous threads that I should hold down c when I start up (didn't work) or that I should select archive or erase and install (I never got these options when I went to install).

What iMac is it? I only ask as the Retail Tiger CD/DVDs don't work on IntelMacs, only PPC, (G3, G4, G5 Macs).
Sorry what you were told by the Apple Store, but if it's a Gray CD/DVD then it is Machine specific as Neil stated.
Sooo, what exact iMac is it, and what does it say on the CD/DVD?
