I went to the "About this Mac" "More Info" I am not seeing what you are asking for I see the tabs for "Hardware" "Network" "Software"

What do you see when you click About this Mac
Then more Info and the tab labeled Storage.

  • Start up disk space full error

    Hi,
I keep getting the Start-up Disk space full error.
    I already did the following-
    1. Back up my imprtant data.
    2. Disk-Utility- Verify disk etc etc
    3. Check other online forums and try to empty sace.
    4. I deleted about 60-70GB worth of files from my macbook, but it still says only 1.89GB available.
    5. I have emptied by Trash at least 10 times, but all files in it are still intact.
    Please help.
I think my files are not getting deleted or something.
I am far away from a applestore and fear that my hard-drive will crash or something.
    Thanks!

  • Upon start up I get a start up disk full message and to delete files, now I only get a a blue screen on start up. How to I get past the blue screen and how do I delete files?

Upon start up I get a "start up disk full message, delete files". Now on startup I only get a blue screen. How do I get past the blue screen and how do I delete files.

That;s really not enough free space... you can use a tools such as OmniDiskSweeper to find out where your large files reside and begin pruning (or copying to an external if they're files that you want to keep).
One thing is certain - if you're going to continue your current usage you're certainly going to need to install a larger boot drive.

  • Help! Not enough start up disk space!

I have a new iBook G4 MAC with a 512 MB built-in HD, 1.42 GHz... I only have about 4,000 songs in my iTunes, and I keep getting a message that comes up saying that I do not have enough start up disk space available to put any more of my cds onto my computer... The message says that I must empty my trash and delete any files that I do not need in order to have more free space on my start up disk. WHAT DOES THAT MEAN? This is a new computer, and I by NO means have anywhere NEAR the amount of files that I KNOW this computer can hold for me. How do I use a different start up disk, or free up my hard drive?
This is just confusing to me because if my ipod has a 10,000 song-storage capacity, and my computer cannot even store that many songs... I don't know-- that seems a BIT contradictory to me.
If you have any answers for me, please help...
    --Leslie

    Hello,
I have exactly the same problem. I have an old G3 ibook but I only have 600 songs on my ipod and I get the same message. I've removed virtually all my old documents and old applications and emptied my trash but nothing seems to work. Alternatively, is it possible to keep adding stuff to ipod and removing stuff off itunes or do the both need to always sync. I'm fairly new to macs so I'm not sure exactly how you find out how much disk space you have left but I can't imagine that I've filled up my drive as I have almost nothing on there!
    Please help!

I know many have this issue but i can't find a solution to the problem. i get message saying insuffisiant disk space in the volume iPhoto library and i have plenty of space available. i have the new macbook pro with retina display. i have never seen this message before and i have 2 other macbooks and have had many other also. i am assuming this is a problem with the new macbook retina. does anyone know the exact fix to this issue? i have seen many sugestions to try to fix this issue but none have solved the issue for anyone that i can find in the Apple Support Community. thank for looking into this in advance.
    ******A true apple fan********

Actually your suggestions are the ones that i have tried. i have seen that you have tried to help others with this issue and the only one that i could find that said they found the problem said that it was an ilife update issue and it fixed it and i have no available updates. i know it has to do with something in photo stream because it happens when i create a new library and it is loading the photos but i get the message before i reach the maximum 1000 photos. so i've tried updating, new library(first backing up photos and then deleting them from iPhoto), reinstalling OSX many times, running disc utilities. I called Apple the first day i had this issue and i was the first person to call them for support with the retina display and i actually had it escalated to a senior advisor and we thought we fixed the problem but we did not. i am pretty fluent in dealing with troubleshooting these type of issues and this is the first time i'm reaching out to the community. i figured now that the retina has been out some time now that there would be an obvious answer to this issue. thanks for the quick reply.

  • Why am I getting a message "Insufficient Disk Space"

I installed a new hard drive yesterday, and used Time Machine to restore all the information from my old hard drive.  Today I tried to open iPhoto and had a message that it was not found so I used the install disk for iPhoto and reinstalled.  I have my former iPhoto Library, but when I try to import new photos from my desk top, I get the message "Insufficient Disk Space" "iPhoto cannot import your photos because there is not enough free space on the volume containing your iPhoto library".  I don't understand since I have 354 GB available on my hard drive. What do I need to do to fix?

That's an indication that the library is damaged. Make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Select the options identified in the screenshot.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

We have tried installing the SP2 of BOXI R3.1 multiple times and every time it gets stuck on 'Determining disk space' window.

    Hi Gauri,
Are you on Windows 2008 by chance?  I have seen this before on that OS and for me, I was able to get past this by closing the installation and then kicking it off again.
If that fails, try running the setup.exe with the command line switch /qr or /qb
One of those 3 options should get you past this.  I think this was an issue with Windows 2008 mostly.

  • "Available disk space running low.  Shuttting down session."

I've been running into problems on a few machines that I have installed e-Load on. When I start the stress test, I get into a few iterations and then suddenly, the test will stop running and I get the following message:
"Available disk space running low. Shutting down session."
    Questions:
1.) What space is it referring to? The local machine or where the scripts are stored?
I can't seem to figure it out. The machines have more than enough space where e-Load is installed, over 10 Gigs free.
The scripts (repository) is on a shared network drive and that has 17 GB where the results are written to. Is there something I am missing?

  • PLEASE HELP!!! disk space is low message

i received a disk space is low message as i am working in my lightroom 5. i keep clicking ok and it does not let me get out of this screen. it is telling me i need to remove files or empty trash to make space. do i need to make space in lightroom or on my hard drive? please help, i have had this issue before.

25% seems pretty arbitrary and unreasonable.
With today's drive that means on a 2TB drive I need to keep 1/2 TB free. That means I am paying for 2TB with only 1.5 usable just to use LR. In my case where I have four 2TB drive I have to have 2TB free or equivalently have an entire drives worth of space (4*500M) I should not be using.
Even given that was true I get a similar message and it states I do not have at least 20M free on the drive where my catalog is. The drive where my catalog is has 800M+ of a 2TB drive free (exceeding the 25% rule).
And if you are talking about just the "C:" or "root" drive then I have a 250G drive with over 180M free. And neither my catalog or my pictures are on it.
    Still looking for an answer.
It is very annoying to be in the middle of an edit and have the message pop up and stop the edit. Then you have to clear the message, undo the incomplete edit and start over hoping the message does not come back.
    Any additional suggestions?

  • Start up disk space

I keep getting a message lately that says my Start Up disk is almost full and that I need to delete some of my files. What does this mean exactly and how do I perform this task. I noticed this has started as I have been using iMovie lately if that helps at all. Thanks.

On the Desktop, click on your Hard Drives icon, do a Get Info and it will tell you the amount used & amount of free space.
You need to keep at least 20%+ of it free for best operation.
You need to move some stuff off to another HDD or CDs/DVDs.
How much free space is on the HD, where has all the space gone?

How do i remove old files to make Space/room on start up disk for new files

Drag items you don't need to the Trash and empty it. If needed, move items such as the iTunes or iPhoto libraries to an external drive first.

  • My imac keeps telling me my start up disk space is running low, how do i fix this?

I purchased an Imac in Sept 2009 and pretty much use it for the iphoto and internet. Other than that, we have no movies and a small itunes catalog. My computer has recently started telling us that our start up disk or disk space is running low. I can't imagine that we are anywhere near filling up the internal memory so I am wondering if something else is the culprit.

  • Windows SMB Clients getting not enough free disk space copying error

I have searched and read most of the related topics in the forums, but no one seems to have a solution to this issue.
I am running OS X Leopard Server 10.5.4 and have several clients connecting via VPN to access file sharing.
The Macs use L2TP for the VPN, Windows uses PPTP. Everyone can connect and see the files on the server.
The mac clients connect and share the same folders via AFP. They have no trouble copying files to the server.
The windows clients connect and share via SMB. They repeatedly get an error while trying to copy files to the server.
    Here is the error message:
    "Error Copying File or Folder
Cannot copy FileName: There is not enough free disk space.
Delete one or more files to free disk space, and then try again."
So we have tried different files, different folders, but no matter what we do the copying fails from windows to the server. The server has 570 GB free - Only 20 gigs used.
I have removed the acl permissions, added them back in via server admin, and still have the problem. Windows clients are running XP SP 2 and the macs are 10.5.3 and 10.5.4.
Does anyone have a solution? Should we roll back to 10.4 Server?
