I am getting about 50 mV of noise in a signal that ranges from 0V to 5V.

I am using a BNC-2120 board with a PCI-6024E card and Labview 5.1.1. to aquire a voltage signal with a high limit of 5V and lower limit of 0V. The signal is noisy with about 50 mV of noise. Is there a way to get rid of this noise?
Thank you for you help.

George;
Noise is a difficult topic. There are some techniques that migh help you to reduce the noise level of the data acquired.
There is a good application note that you can find from at Web site which talks about that. The name of the App Note is "Field Wiring and Noise Considerations for Analog Signals". To download that one, go to www.ni.com and type in +field +wire at the search field.
Hope this helps.

  • HT1202 I get how you can transfer purchases from a device to computer but what about the hundreds of songs on my iPad that were from CDs and non purchased? How can you move them from iPAd to computer if it wants to erase and sync?

I am needing to transfer ALL content, not just purchased, to new computer and it wants to erase and sync because device is associated with another Library. Please help!

What was the source to get that content onto the iPad?
There has to be a middleman to get from CD to iPad - use
backup of that to get content to new computer.

  • Getting the end point to end point connections paths that exist from Switch Exe

Can I query the Switch Exe data base and get a list of the existing paths that Switch EXE has connected?
I have a debug app that reads the channel names (via a property node) and present them to the operator to manually connect and disconnect paths using the end points. I would like to have an indicator showing the current paths that are connected and I was hoping to be able to get that from Switch Exe without me having to add code to keep track of it myself.
The goal is to be able to click on any existing path to disconnect it.
I do query the switch cards and display the actual relays that are closed, but that is hard to relate that to what channels that are connected when we have 8 matrix cards all interconnected.
    Thanks

    Hi Omar,
Try using something like the example below that incorporates an array to check every connection.  If the path is found to exist, then you could add that combination to an array that is displayed on the front panel.  Also see this knowledge base article about the known issue with the Find Routes VI.  Use the VI from the bottom of the page in place of the Find Routes from the palette.  Hopefully this helps!

  • How can I get rid of the fine, black, vertical "glitch lines" that print from my InDesign doc?

In the three orange ellipses in this photo, you can see some of the vertical lines that have been driving me crazy. Any idea what causes them?
I've tried separating adjacent lines onto different layers, merging layers, and everything I could think of. I haven't been able to find anything with google searches-- but maybe there's a name for them I don't know.
Is there any way I can copy the whole page I've made in InDesign into Photoshop or Illustrator, then save the entire page with all its photos, lines, and type as some kind of an image file? If so, what file should I use that would keep it really sharp?  My boss, of course, wants even the tiniest print on the labels in the photos still readable.
Thanks so much for helping me.  I'm at my wits' end, because if I print directly from InDesign I sometimes have glitch lines here and there throughout our manuals, but if I try saving any composites from PhotoShop; it blurs the type and lines.

HURRAY!  Cheers, confetti, balloons, and a free party to all of you (I wish) !
I took the "looks good" page in my InDesign Document, and:
    1. opened a new document in PS with a white background,
    2. copied the photo there, as the background layer,
    3. grouped and copied all the text and callout lines, on another layer, and
    4. copied the big company logo at the bottom, as another layer.  (Each became a Vector Smart Object as I copied it in.)
I then saved it as a PSD file, then as a TIF file, and finally as a PDF file.
When I printed out the page directly from my InDesign document-- linked first to the PSD, then relinked to the TIF, then relinked to the PDF-- all three pages printed out perfectly.

I take my computer to work daily.  It is always transported in a padded case.  I take very good care of it (keyboard protector, proper case, etc.)
It is a 13" MacBook, new September 2010.
    Thanks in advance for suggestions!

That's a weird one. Does the same thing occur if you boot to an install disk? Insert the install DVD that came with the computer and hold down the "C" key during startup. Same thing there? If so you have a hardware issue. Contact Apple at the appropriate phone number on this page or carry it in to an Apple retail store or authorized service provider.

  • My MacBookPro (mid 2012) will not complete the boot process. Yosemite's progress widget gets about 1/3 to 1/2 way across when the logo disappears and the screen goes all white for 10-15 secs or so, then the machine shuts down and restarts.

Yosemite's progress widget gets about 1/3 to 1/2 way across when the logo disappears and the screen goes all white for 10-15 secs, then the machine shuts down and restarts. This sequence will repeat seemingly forever unless I shut it down manually.
I upgraded to Yosemite from Mountain Lion a couple months ago, skipping Maverick completely, and I've done any associated updates that Apple told me about. I don't recall which version of Yosemite I have, but I'm sure it is the "latest and greatest".
I've tried re-starting in Safe Mode / Safe Boot and that does the same thing as described above except without the endless restarts. Instead of restarting at some point, SafeBoot proceeds to the white screen and then it hangs until I restart it manually. (I've waited as long os 20-30 minutes with no response).
When I tried the option-command-p-r key combo I never get any chimes or other noises besides the original 1 time boot sound that you would expect to get when starting up a macbook pro.
I was using the mac quite normally (meaning I was doing work I normally do on it and there was no indication of anything wrong) immediately prior to this happening.
The machine is BootCamp(ed) with Windows 8.1 which I use from a VMWare virtual machine instead of natively so that I can have both OSes running at the same time. I also think this is unrelated to my problem. I have been using this setup for more than 2 years.
My upgrade to Yosemite was uneventful and I thought it went well and was very smooth. I don't want to lead attention away from Yosemite, but at this point my problem does not seem related to the upgrade.
    Any help is appreciated.

Install or Reinstall OS X from Scratch
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Erase the hard drive:
      1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
      2. After DU loads select your startup volume (usually Macintosh HD) from the
left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
      3. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Optionally, click on
the Security button and set the Zero Data option to one-pass. Click on
the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
      4. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Install button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • When I run multiple Microsoft powerpoint files at a time on my MacBook Air, it simply gets hotter and generates little noise (most probably fan noise). Will this make any effect on life span of MBAir??

When I run multiple Microsoft powerpoint files at a time on my MacBook Air, it simply gets hotter and generates little noise (most probably fan noise). Will this make any effect on life span of MBAir??

    Theoretically, yes.
Heat, and heat cycling certainly do take a toll on even solid state components. I have several "very old" Macintosh computers, and the logic boards exhibit the effects.
The fan too, running at higher speeds, does eventually cause wear. More than anything, the higher airflow leads to a higher propensity for dust accumulation on the fan, and the heat exchangers.
In practical terms though, maybe not so much. If you plan on having your computer exhibit a reasonable useful life before you retire it or upgrade, you may never experience any of the detrimental effects. I rarely use a computer longer than 3 years, before I sell, give it away, or just stop using it.
Personally, I wouldn't worry about it. Your computer is well designed to give you a long life, even in the manner in which you describe. Take care of it, but use it for what you bought it for. Nothing you mention is in any way, abuse.

  • Every now and then I get about a half second clip of another song

Every now and then I get about a half second clip of another song at the end of a song. If you immediately go back and play the same again, you get the same little burp at the end. But if you play three or four songs and then go back, the little burp is not there. I did a restore on the ipod, and I am still getting the little burps. It only happens maybe once out of every 10 songs played.
Files are MP3's which play fine on the PC in WMP and itunes, and on Dell DJ15, Zune and Sansa MP3 players. Some of the MP3s were ripped from CD using MusicMatch, some recorded off old lps using Creative Go!, and some downloaded so I don't think it is an issue with the MP3s themselves. Since I use several different players, I don't want to maintain a separate AAC library just for the ipod.
Usually the burst is so short that you can't even tell who the artist was, but when I have recognized it was always something very close alphabetically - at the end of a Cream song I got a little Creed, at the end of a Bad Company song I got a little Bachman-Turner Overdrive, at the end of a Led Zeppelin track I got a little Linkin Park.

  • Can't get rid of the beeping noise!(SOLVED)

Hey guys, so I can't get rid of the beeping noise of my laptop.
I have an Acer Aspire 722. Every time I plug or unplug the power, it beeps. And the really annoying one, everytime I backspace, it beeps.
I've tried going into alsa and muting beep. I put !pcspkr in modules in rc.conf.
I don't know what else to do?
Help will be extremely appreciated. Thanks.
edit: unrelated but something I want to resolve. I get these debugging messages, and found to get rid of them I have to set loglevel= 3 in grub. How do I do that? (SOLVED)
Also, I'm having an issue with x-org. Every time I try to download it, it says it is missing a file. So I figured maybe it is a mirror problem so I went to change my mirror. Pacman keeps trying to use my old mirror even when my mirrorlist does not have that mirror commented out. I also checked pacman.conf and no mirror is being loaded in there with a server=mirror syntax.
    Not sure what is happening?

Please read the man page :-)
    -y, --refresh
Download a fresh copy of the master package list from the
server(s) defined in pacman.conf(5). This should typically be used
each time you use --sysupgrade or -u. Passing two --refresh or -y
flags will force a refresh of all package lists even if they
appear to be up to date.

Nah, you do need a browser, sorry ;P
You should have some simple text-based (links and elinks) on the CD you used for installation, but they may be a bit intimidating to use if you're new.
    Thanks!

How do I get rid of the volume noise that plays when I switch from internal speakers to external speakers? I'm trying to watch something on my TV through an HDMi cable (& apple adapter) and when I go to switch the sound control in preferences from internal speakers to SONY TV, the annoying "popping" noise occurs on my TV's speakers.

Go to Edit > Preferences > General > Import Settings and check the box for error correction, and then try one of the problem CDs again.

    Hey joshuafromisr,
If you resintall iTunes, it should fix the issue. The following document will go over how to remove iTunes fully and then reinstall. Depending on what version of Windows you're running you'll either follow the directions here:

  • I think I have the latest Firefox version, but keep getting messages about updating it. 1 says something is preventing Firefox from updating securely; another says something is trying to trick Firefox into accepting an unsecure update. What's going on?

The 1st message goes on to say, "Please make sure that you have the latest version of Firefox from http://www.firefox.com." Assuming 4.0.1 is the latest version, it seems this is a bogus message and I haven't clicked on the link.
The 2nd message goes on to say something like, "if this continues [the attempt to trick Firefox into accepting an unsecure update], contact your network administrator."
I started getting the messages on all 4 of our PC's (2 desktops running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, 1 running XP 32-bit, & a laptop running Vista Home Basic 64-bit) after updating to Firefox 4.0 on them. I manually updated to 4.0.1 on all thinking that would stop the messages, but it hasn't.
I loaded & ran free versions of McAfee Stinger, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, and Super Anti-Spyware programs on all our PCs; each program found & repaired some infected files on each computer, but the messages continue on all.
Thanks for any help you can give.

Apparently this occurs when Firefox has problems with security certificates. There have been a few questions about this. I will try to get advice about this.
