I am getting an error message "an unknown error has occurred" everytime I try to download an App from the Appstore.  My ID and password are correctly entered.  How do I get rid of it?

I am getting an error message saying "an unknown error has occurred" everytime I try and down load an App.  My ID and password are entered correctly.  What am I doing wrong and how do I get rid of this?

☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Select "/var/log/install.log" from the file list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar. Then select the messages from the last installation or update attempt, starting from the time when you initiated it. If you're not sure when that was, start over and note the time. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.
When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Edit it out by search-and-replace in a text editor before posting.

    In between, I got a messge about verifying my payment method. When I tried to submit the details, I kept getting a mmessage stating that my payment method was declined (my card is not near it's expiration date, and works fine).

I have even done Disk Repair Permission, Rebooted couple of times and using AppleID when I purchased. Its same Mac Pro when I purchased it and I don't have any pther Mac machine. I have paid and got confirmed by e-mail for purchase. Totally frustrated. Why can't apple allow to download DMG file to install it?

    If that doesn't help, drag the App Store icon straight up off your Dock so it goes, "poof".
    Now drag the App Store icon from your Applications folder to the Dock. Try updating your apps.

    It's not a matter of the app being free. The issue is that your credit or debit card account must be associated withe the same country where you reside. Even if you don't have a credit or debit card on file with Apple, you can only purchase iTunes media from your own country.

    First try killing Words. When on the home screen double press the HOME button, then swipe the screen image of Words up to close it.
    Next, reset your iPhone by holding HOME and SLEEP until an Apple logo appears. If the problem is not resolved delete the app from your phone, reset the phone again, then reinstall the app.

    I found that this error occurred when trying to purchase Aperture via the new App Store. I had previously downloaded the trial version via the old Apple store and having it and its installed folders on my hard disk prevented the App store from letting me purchase.
    So, if you have a trial version, trash it, and trash the related folders in your user Library and also the Aperture project folder (wherever you saved it), typically in the Pictures folder.
    Then try to purchase. Voila!
