I am getting annoying popups from a site in Spain claiming Firefox recommends I download an updated video player from them. Looks like SPYWARE! MAKE IT STOP!

It explains things on my end. I hope you guys are not in on this. It's intrusive and rather pushy at that. I don't feel I should have to download another video player. The name of the company is updatevideos.com. I went there and it took me to api.adrenalads.com and then to mojopages.com!!! If some lumphead is trying to get over on me , I ain,t buyin'!!!

Hi rimshot69, did you check for an extension in Firefox? To see whether one of those might be involved, you could try one of the following:
(1) Manually Disable ALL nonessential and/or unrecognized extensions on the following screen. If in doubt, disable:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons > Extensions category
Then restart Firefox using the handy links provided for that purpose and see whether the messages stop.
(2) Test in Firefox's Safe Mode
That's a standard diagnostic tool to bypass interference by extensions (and some custom settings). More info: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]].
You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using
Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
Any difference?
You also may want to run some supplemental scans. These three tools are highly regarded (and free):

tonefox is probably right. Server overload. I also notice that when siri does respond correctly, it is slower. My wife has a 4s and same story, and she has not upgraded to IOS 7.
So it's not just you (if that makes you feel any better).

When logged in multiple times, I get annoying messages from AOL System Msg

I am using iChat from home and work. In my iChat settings, I have "Allow multiple logins for this account" set.
If I log in from work (and am still logged in from home, or vice versa), I get a message from "AOL System Msg" telling me that I am now logged in from two locations, and that I can reply with '1' to log off the other location. These messages are somewhat annoying, as "AOL System Msg" apparently cannot be blocked. Is there a way to avoid these and still being logged in from multiple locations?

Is one version iChat 2.x ?
If so then the answer is No.
If both are iChat 3 try changing the setting when the other computer is Off. This maybe difficult but maybe the weekend would be the time to log out of the Work one first and then on Monday turn the Home one Off.

I'm trying to get a song from iTunes to Windows Movie Maker

I'm trying to get a song from my iTunes library to Windows Movie Maker so I can use it in a video. I've tried importing it, copying it and pasting it, and clicking and dragging it, but each time, it says that it could not be impoted... Does anyone know how I can fix this?

What file format is the song in, Lauen?
To check, right-click on the song and select Get info. In the Summary tab, what is it saying next to "Kind"?

Convert colour images to grayscale images & get pixel data from them

Is the code below correct to convert colour images to grayscale images in Java?

When I get grayscale images from the code below, I would like to access the pixels of those images. So I tried to do:
byte[] dd=((DataBufferByte)mImage.getRaster().getDataBuffer()).getData();
BUT the data result array is not 0-255. Could anyone suggest how to obtain pixel data from grayscale images?
In case that my code shown is not correct or suitable, please give your advice. What I would like to do are in the steps as follows:
1 change 100*70 jpeg-images to 100*70 grayscale images.
2 create two dimensional array of pixel data (example [100][70]) from converted images. The number in the array should be between 0-255, right??? And 0 refers to black colour and 255 refers to white colour???

I am not sure i understand what is the problem exactly.
Structure of DataBuffer is described by SampleModel used by same Raster
object. E.g. it might be 1 byte per xipex or 4 bytes per pixel.
In your example convertToGrayscale saves images to file as JPEG and
it seems you later read it back. It is possible what image you read back
is not greyscale but ARGB and data buffer has different format.
Technically, if you just need level of grey you may simply
call getRGB on your output image. Grey is uniform mix of R, G and B.
Also, instead of ColorConverOp you may dimply create output image of
grayscale type and draw your color input image with drawImage().
If none of these helps please try to provide more details.

Export from AVCHD looks like THIS: (image embedded) I've tried EVERYTHING

I'm using a Sony HDR-XR500V and importing using Apple Inter. Codec 1920x1080i60 in log and transfer and in "Canvas" in FCE, it looks GREAT, the motion is perfect.
However, no matter how I export (this was Export with Quicktime, uncompressed, size 1920x1080, but I've tried EVERYTHING) it looks like this. In Quicktime, I can hit "de-interlace" but it ghosts instead. I've tried de-interlace in exporting too.
In the original AVCHD files, and in Canvas on FCE, I can read the writing on everything, and I have not yet been able to export in any format where I can read the writing on the stones.
The exported files look like this on my PC as well... HELP!
PS... this was an image export from QT.

Getting BHO from what looks like a program by eboom that shows up as a small window on RH bottom side. Also webpages being redirected automatically.

I get a small window on bottom RH side of my screen with "suggested sites" Usually the very site I am on. I right click on this window and it does not act alike a normal window, cannot close it or view its source. It does state that Eboom is providing suggestions.
Also something, i think this malware or BHO is trying to redirect my webpage. I have set up Firefox to not redirect. That helps a little. Also opening links in new tab seems to help.
I reviewed my add-ons and extensions and nothing unusual. I have tried to look for something in history and I have found very little. I have run multiple malware, spyware, adware, and virus Scans. Used Malwarebyte, SuperAntispyware, Norton, and Exterminator from PC Pitstop, all to no help. I have looked up this information and all I find is an issue with a toolbar on IE. I do not get a toolbar.

Getting String values from a ".properties like" file

I'm finishing up my first servlet based application. I would like to get some of the error messages out of the code and into a file that will be read when the application is initialized -- much like one would use a .properties file in a Java program.
This will allow error messages to be edited later, without recompiling the code.
What's the servlet oriented approach to reading strings on initialization? I have a hunch it has something to do with ServletContext . . .
Bonus Question! Does this approach read strings only at initialization? I can't afford the cost of reading them every time!

You can use a RessourceBundle object to read such property file... and you will be able to set localized message.

I am having problems with mail after upgrading to snow leopard. When I send an email to somebody, I would get a reply from them but the content of the reply were old emails from months ago. Any ideas what's going on?

For ex. The subject of my email was "List of kids dancing this weekend". Then i would compose my email and send it to the recepient. They responded to my email with the same subject "List of kids dancing this weekend" but the content of the email was the email I received from somebody else months ago. This "phenomenon" happened serveral times already. Please help!

Turns out the auto-complete database is a SQLite DB stored in this folder. Probably the ownership and/or permissions are messed up on your system. Mine (under Snow Leopard) show ownership by me and rw privilege for all files in that directory, including MailRecents....

This issue can be caused by the presence of leftover files in the Firefox program folder (defaults\pref) like a file firefox.js that overrides the update URL with a wrong link.
Do a clean reinstall and be sure to remove the Firefox program folder to remove the file(s) that cause the problem.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

I don't want Safari to re-open all windows from last session; can't make it stop. Set Safari preferences to new window and new tab open with blank page, but it won't.
