I am getting duplicate tracks within an album

For some reason I am getting duplicate tracks within some of my albums.  This is only visible on my iPhone.  My iTunes displays the album as it should be.  I assume this obviously has something to do with iCloud/iTunes Match.  Is there a way to correct this issue without deleting the entire album and re-uploading?  This is not a iTunes purchased album but it is "matched" with the cloud.  My current fix is to delete the duplicate songs and leave them in the cloud and un-select "Show All Music" on my iPhone.  That is a band-aid but I would like to permanately fix the issue.
(Disregard that all of the songs are "Untitled."  That is actually how the album is supposed to be.  (I know, I know.)

bump.

  • How do I sort tracks within an album by name?

In the new iTunes 11 for Mac, is there any way to set the view to sort by albums (so you have that grid of album art; I have this figured out already), and then (this is the part I can't figure out yet) have the tracks within any given album be sorted by name when you click on the artwork? When I choose View-->View Options, I can set to sort by title which sorts the albums themselves by title (which I want), but then the second dropdown is deactivated.
I have a number of multi-disc albums, and I want to condense them into one album, but when I did that for one album I ended up with a ton of tracks in one album and I couldn't find what I wanted to play from the album because I couldn't get them sorted alphabetically (thus it took me too long to find the track)

it is not just date - it is time and date
I suspect that what you are seeing is a time difference between the cameras - check and I think you will find that they are sorted by time and date
If that is it it is easy to fix - make a smart album for each camera and adjust the photos for them so they are all together

  • How do I reorganize the order of songs or tracks within an album?

How can I permenantly change the order of tracks or songs within an album without creating a playlist for that album?

If the songs are in a playlist open iTunes then click on the playlist. Click on the number column (extreme left). Click on the song you want to move and drag it to where you want it to be. Right click on the playlist name and select "Copy to play order". Connect your iPod, if you are updating automatically it will pick up the change. If you are updating manually then you connect first and when the iPod appears in the source list carry out the process above directly in the playlist on your iPod. Make sure neither Shuffle or Repeat are switched on in the playlist, either of those can prevent you reordering tracks.
If the tracks are out of order in the library try this, I found that it works for me. Right click at the top of any column in your iTunes library and choose **Track Number** from the list. Click at the top of this new column to sort it and after that click on the Album column. If you like you can then click on Artist, it will continue to hold the track order as well. Afterwards anything you import should follow this arrangement Artist>Album>Track Number within Album (you can hide the track number column when you've done if you don't want it cluttering up the view)

  • How can I sort audio by tracks within each album?

I am trying to use an ipod to listen to a series of lectures. The lectures are organized in a specific sequence of tracks. This is similar to songs in an album except that I need to listen to them in a specified order. Listening to the lectures in a random order is totally useless because it's confusing.
I tried a number of ways to sort the files and the ipod just refuses to cooperate. I even manually renamed each file to start with a number for easy sorting. The ipod still refused to cooperate. I am almost ready to get a hammer to fix it permanently.
I guess I am the only person who has this request since it's so difficult to make the ipod work as needed.

    Hi, welcome to Apple Discussions.
When you say lectures, have they been downloaded via iTunes U? If so ordering may be chaotic and based on release date. Otherwise generally all you need to do is set a track number and give all the items the same album name. If all else fails create a playlist and drag things into the order you require.

  • How can I get all tracks from an album into the album in my library?

When importing the albums from a folder, the tracks for some of the albums were split up.  How can I get them in one?

    Hello JudyD276
The article below will give the steps to get the songs grouped together for you.
Why aren't songs with the same album art grouped together?

  • Question about the arrangement of music files within an album

    Hi all,
I used to have a cheap MP3 player that worked just like a portable hard drive--drag-and-drop and organized into folders. I wanted the quality of an iPod, but with the organizational convenience of my old player, so I decided to change the tags of all my MP3s so that the album titles were the titles of all my old folders. This basically worked--whenever a folder was organized by tracks, I would open up the album, and there were all my files, properly arranged. The problem is when the "album" wasn't actually an album. I tried to change all the track numbers to "1" hoping that the iPod would just then arrange the files in alphabetical order by title. But it doesn't. I can't figure out what system it uses, but I figured you might know. Here are the questions:
How does the 5G iPod determine the file order of tracks within an album when all the tracks have the same number?
    and
If track number is the only thing it checks, is there any way for me to cheat and get the songs in alphabetical order without manually giving them all a track number?
    and on an unrelated note
Anyone find the standard issue Apple earbuds to be too large? Any recommendations for slightly smaller earbuds that are at least at the same quality level? A few suggestions at different price levels would be appreciated. And I assume you already have a discussion for that, so a link would suffice.
    Thanks,
    John

wow that is crazy i can't believe it is able to transpose audio loops (not midi) to different keys. especially stuff with more then one note playing at the same time like guitar strum.
I know how to set up the key in logic and change it etc... i was really wondering how it is capable of doing this?? does it have some kind of melodyne or autotune built in to it?? i never heard of software being able to do this with pre recorded audio that plays more than one note at a time.

  • Duplicate Tracks - Time Machine?

I keep getting duplicate track listings and even though I delete them they seem to be continuing to appear. It's not consistent though - some tracks have MANY dupes (7 or more sometimes!), some none, and others just a few.
Is it possible that Time Machine is making them or is it something else? I have a new Nano, the last model Nano, an old model Shuffle, and a Gen 2 iPod Classic 20GB model. Is it the many iPods, Time Machine, or something else? It seems like I can never quite rid myself of iTunes dupes!

Why not just use TM to back up to 2 external drives. TM will alternate between the two when it backs up.
Alternately, you could have a 2 back up strategy like others have using SuperDuper! or Carbon Copy Cloner. Both are excellent 3rd party apps to clone your internal drive(s) and both have schedulers.

  • Remove/prevent duplicate tracks

With MacBook Pro, OS 10.4.10, latest iTunes, I keep getting duplicate tracks almost everytime I start up. All are checked and all play. I tried iDupe to remove the dupes but that is very time consuming and the dupes keep coming back. How can I stop this apparent auto duplication ?

I do not use iTunes in Windows. Win is installed but I use it in only special circumstances.

  • How can I quickly get the same album art for all tracks on an album without manually doing them one at a time?

I am having trouble with album art linked to each track. My library is ripped from my own cd's and ITunes only provides some of the artwork from a find artwork search. The rest must be found and added one at a time manually from web. This process is tedious and time consuming for me. Is there a file in iTunes related to each album that I can just drop the art once and it shows up linked to all the tracks from that album when they play? I've tried selecting all songs from an album and dragging the artwork to the artwork window once in hopes of all tracks getting the artwork at the same time with no luck. Any advice for this paltry artwork dilemma would be appreciated. If Cassidy & Greene still owned this ******* child of SoundJam I know I would not be having this problem! HaHa...Thanks for any advice/help with this problem.

Thx 4 quick reply alexbird. Your method will work and after a little experimenting so will this: Just go to the album art view option and highlight the album you want artwork for. Drag the artwork from your album art web search page to bottom left hand album art window in iTunes and just drop it there. A small progress window then appears showing each album track adopting the dropped artwork one by one. It only takes 10-15 seconds for all of the tracks on your album to adopt the new artwork. I then went back and removed unwanted artwork(from the albums that had it) track by track from the get info menu. This goes pretty quick as you just pick track>get info>artwork>highlight art>delete>ok for each track.
This drag/drop to the album art view page has been the simplest and most effective way I have discovered to manually import album artwork into iTunes so far. Hope this helps someone else out there. Any other methods or suggestions to do this task added to this thread will be duly noted. Thx... Oh, I am currently using iTunes 10.5.1

When I sync recently bought albums to my iPhone I get duplicated tracks.  How can I resolve this.  The duplicated tracks do not appear in my itunes library, just on my iPhone.

It seems to happen with songs that were purchased before synchronizing the new iPhone
I will tell you how I fixed it.
Note: I have iTunes in spanish so I will try to translate and figure out the commands that appear on ITunes in english. I will put my translations into brackets. English is not my native language. I will do my best.
    The workaround is:
1.- Dragg no working songs from iTunes to a folder on the hard disk. (Only for backup purposes)
2.- Deleted those songs from iTunes library.
3.- On the left panel in ITunes click on "Purchased" under the STORE option. All your purchased songs will appear on the right panel
4.- At the bottom and right there is the option : "Download Previous Purchases". Click there.
5.- Click on the option "Are not in my Library" (top right)
6.- The songs you deleted from iTunes will appear.
7.- Downloaded them again. (You have the option to download at the bottom right)
8.- Syncronize your iPhone and that's all.

  • When i import a compilation cd how do i get all the tracks into one album in the music library. They are currently listed as individual tracks or albums.

When I import a compilation CD the tracks list as individual albums. How can I get them consolidated into one album?

Generally all you need to do is fill in an appropriate Album Artist. For a compilation use Various Artists and also set Part of a compilation to Yes on the Options tab of Get Info.
For more details see my article on Grouping Tracks Into Albums, in particular the topic One album, too many covers.

Use the trackpad to scroll, thats what it was designed for. The scroll bars automatically disappear when not being used and will appear if you scroll up or down using the trackpad.
This is a user-to-user forum and most people will post on here if they have problems. You very rarely get people posting to say there update went smooth. The fact is the vast majority of Mountain Lion users will not be experiencing any major problems with the OS, or maybe with apps which are not compatible, but thats hardly Apple's fault if developers don't update their apps.
