If you bought an iBook or Audiobook from the iTunes Store or the iBooks Store on an iDevice, or a 'book' application from the Mac App Store, you do not get an email fom Apple. You just confirm the purchase and start downloading.

There are two aspects to iCloud. One is simply getting an account, or migrating a mobileme account to iCloud. The second part is using the various features of iCloud to sync contacts, calendars, use music match or photo sharing, and store iWorks documents.
First to get an iCloud account:
If you have a mobileme account, you can migrate by simply logging onto www.icloud.com (ignore any references to Lion and just click through to complete the migration). If you have OS X Lion or an iOS 5 mobile device, you can create an iCloud account on that device using any valid AppleID.
Once you have an account, you can use JUST the mail account if you wishi - it is a standard IMAP account so you would set it up like any other IMAP email account you have, in whatever client program you use to read email.
To use the OTHER feautes of iCloud, your computers will have to be running OS X Lion (10.7). Your iPhone 3G will never be able to use iCloud as it cannot run iOS 5 (you need a min. of an iPhone 3GS to run iOS 5).
The requirements for OS X Lion are here - http://www.apple.com/macosx/specs.html You need a min. of a Core 2 duo processor so you mini is not capable of running Lion.
So, in your case, the single reasons for iCloud would be if you have a mobileme account, then use the online www.icloud.com to migrate your account so you do not lose your @me.com email address. You can use iCloud email (without using any other iCloud features) by setting it up as IMAP mail with these settings - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4864
If you want an iCloud account and do NOT already have a mobileme account, you will need to upgrade one machine at least to Lion in order to be able to create an iCloud account.

Das ist im Geschäftsumfeld nicht gewünscht oder funktionsfähig. So blenden Grossunternehmen alles was von iCloud kommt aus. D.h. Der Kunde kann nicht zusagen. Dass noch ein iCal Attachment existiert, bemerkt er nicht, da kaum sichtbar.
Das funktioniert also nicht. Ich wünsche mir dass die EMail die iCloud so einfach ist wie früher wie die direkt vom Kalender versandte eMail, die einen kleinen Text und das iCal Attachment.

Help required to get Talk21 e-mails via Outlook

Although not that new to using Microsoft I'm a bit of a newbie to Windows etc I have MS Office Professional 2010.
I have always managed to set my Talk 21 address up in Outlook and iPhone but I have to concede defeat after about 3 hours of trying. (mind you it's taken a few minutes to work out this forum)
Suggestions from anyone who has succesfully achieved this would be appreciated.

Hi Sadie. Welcome to the forums.
If I may say so, you say you've set up your Talk21 email address via Outlook before, and now have Office 2010. The latest version of Outlook is perhaps slightly different to previous, but should be very similar.
Are you getting actual errors when setting up the account ? or trying to send/receive emails ?
I believe that the talk21 servers are still working, pop3 (for receiving) is in.talk21.com and smtp (for sending) is out.talk21.com - however if not then you will need to use the trick of adding .t21 at the end of the username, replace @talk21.com with @btinternet.com and use mail.btinternet.com for both servers.
The problem will be if you still want to use your talk21.com email address as the "From" address - you will need to go through address verification, but perhaps go through that later if required.

I was unaware that Samsung was providing email services. Now, if you mean that it is RIDICULOUS (that's how you spell that btw, and I'm surprised that Samsung doesnt provide you with a basic spellcheck option) that your Samsung phone can check different email accounts and an iPhone cannot, you are dead wrong. iPhone can check ANY standards based email server that I'm aware of existing, and I've been in this game for 25 years.
If you mean that it's ridiculous that iCloud email doesn't function in all the same ways that GMAIL functions (mind you, that has JACK CRAP to do with Samsung and your point would be completely moot [that means that the point you were trying to make no longer applies because the facts or circumstances are different from when or what you asked]), why should it? They are different email products with different kinds of users in mind. Just like Yahoo Mail offers some of those features but charges you, where IC and GM do not charge you. Or for example where IC uses open standards for its integrated calendar notes and email offerings where GM had to steal active sync from Microsoft to rip off exchange and got caught,messing up lots of people's accounts. Or AOL for example...good luck doing any sort of clean import or export of contacts. Or Microsoft (Hotmail) who stole Apple's business model (again) by moving to a single sign on for email and the rest of their services like apps, as did google (Apple's mobile AND desktop OSapps along with email messaging and backup services using a single username and password to provide GUARANTEED VIRUS FREE applications). Or how Microsoft's tile features look exactly like AOL's interface did 20 years ago.

Samsung uses Android. Do the research and you'll find out how EVERYTHING android started out with was directly stolen by google employees WHO WERE EXECUTIVES AT APPLE AND HAD DIRECT ACCESS TO THE TECHNOLOGIES THAT THEY STOLE.
But I digress. Samsung makes phones. They don't make the most popular and most profitable mobile OS in existence. They don't make a platform that CURRENTLY gives its users to over a BILLION ready right now to use applications that are GUARANTEED to be virus free and are required to follow standards before they can be published. Samsung does not make a cloud environment that that makes your most used and most important data available to you whenever wherever you need it. Samsung does not have more than 300 stores in the world where you can walk in and someone who has been trained by Samsung, who grew up using and loving Samsung products is waiting to help you all the live long day, just you, until your issues can be reasonably solved (reasonably, this means within policy limits, you don't get a free brand new one just because you think you should have one...try that at your ford dealership and see how fast they throw you out on your ear). Those stores where they will introduce you to and teach you the basics of your device before you even leave, and with a smile because they love doing it. Samsung doesn't even make the most repairable phone on the market today (more repairable means faster easier cheaper repairs when they are needed). Samsung doesn't stick to well tested modules in their devices. Cutting edge features are great, but how do they benefit you when they crash your phone all the time because they are basically experimental parts? Samsung did not completely revolutionize computing, mobile telephones, the entire music industry, tablet computing (or create devices that 2 year olds can use...easily...or that allow autistic children to finally be able to relate to the world around them, or provide LITERALLY a VOICE to severely developmentally disabled people who can't speak but can take their iPads to McDonalds or a gillion other places and speak by using pictures), educational publishing, or scientific research. Samsung didn't INVENT the culture that allows brilliant programmers, coders, chip monkey and artists to be more casual at work, and thus more productive.
And on and on and on and on and on.
Yeah...Im TERRIBLY concerned that Samsung is going to "run over Apple in a few more years."

Can't access mail via iCloud

When I try to log in to my icloud mail account, I get the following message: possible network error or missing resources.

I can log on icloud on pc but when i enter password on my ipad mini first gen with ios8 it tells me wrong password. and i can receive mail but cannot send any mail via icloud, gmail, yahoo never had to set this up with ios7. how do i resolve this?

I updated my ipad mini first gen 32gig (4.3gig free) to run ios8 8.0(12A365) and i have a problem sending emails. i can receive mail but when i send it fails. my dropbox works fine, safari, and other apps work fine on the internet just the receiving of mail. Do i need to add a new outgoing server, though i dont remeber having to do this when i updated to ios7. how do i resolve this?

It doesn't seem to cover your specific issue, but have you tried using a different network (either a different wi-fi network, or switching from wi-fi to cellular or vice-versa if you have a wi-fi+cellular iPad)?
For GMail, iCloud and Yahoo, copies of messages are stored on their respective servers, so you could try deleting the account on your iPad, then re-adding each account one at a time to see if that resolves the issue.

Can't send mail via iCloud with my iMac after creating a new account

yesterday I created my account on Icloud.
I've Lion on my Imac, so I registered the account directly from settings on my Imac.
Now I can receive mail, but I can't send them, because the imap smtp server won't recognize my password.
If I access on icloud.com, I can do everything correctly.

It's a bad idea to post your email address - it's an invitation to spam - and I've aasked the Hosts to remove it.
The first thing to try would be to sign out in System Preferences>iCloud, then sign back in again and check 'Mail' and any other data types you need in the list. This will set Mail up, hopefully correctly.
If you are still having problems accessing or sending mail go to http://appleid.apple.com and change your password, making sure that it complies with Apple's requirements: at least eight characters, of which at least one must be a numeral and one a capital letter.
Note that iCloud does not interact with any other email service. You cannot use it to check other email accounts, and you cannot send using its smtp server with any address other than your @me.com one as the 'From' address.
You should be able to set up other accounts separately in the Mail application: these would be unaffected by iCloud in any way.
