I am getting script errors on startup - Script: chrome://global/content/bindings/browser.xml:194 WHY?

The last couple of days I have been getting script errors on startup - Script: chrome://global/content/bindings/browser.xml:194 ,
I am also getting shutdown errors when I power down "end program" types including sgtray.exe, hkcmd.exe, directcd.exe, msascui.exe, d3d9window.exe,
Some of these are associated with programs I use but have not caused problems previously.

You will have to revisit a link to make Firefox retrieve the favicon from the server as both a JSON backup and Firefox Sync do not preserve the favicon (an HTML backup does).

  • Why do I keep getting this script error? chrome://global/content/bindings/browser.xml:187

A lot of times when I tried to load Firefox I get the message
"A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, or you can continue to see if the script will complete.
    Script: chrome://global/content/bindings/browser.xml:187"
    I'm running version 3.6.8

It's possible that you are having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not caused by one (or more than one) of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do that easily and cleanly, run Firefox in [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode safe mode] (don't forget to select ''Disable all add-ons'' when you start safe mode). If the problem disappears, you know it's from an add-on. Disable them all in normal mode, and enable them one at a time until you find the source of the problem. See [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes this article] for information about troubleshooting extensions and themes and [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting+plugins this one] for plugins.
If you need support for one of your add-ons, you'll have to contact its author.
If the problem does not disappear when all add-ons are disabled, please tell me, so we can work from there. Please have no fear of following my instructions to the line, as all can be easily undone.

  • Unpredictable crash: not associated with specific pages. script:chrome/global/content/bindings/browser.xml.0

Firefox is open, website working as expected - without warning entire programme freezes. nothing moves - on occasion even my mouse pointer freezes.
the notice that appears in a drop-down says
    script:chrome/global/content/bindings/browser.xml.0
I wonder if this 'chrome' refers to the underlying google product [which I have not installed].
There is absolutely no reason why this should happen - it is not any one specific site, and it happens without warning on sites I have previously visited often, without any problem.

Thank you for this: it is teaching me a lot about Firefox. I wonder whether there are any obvious suspects among the add-ons listed below? with a Mac, I have the basic ones and nothing exotic - nothing added recently, unless it is an update within the latest issue?

The box pops up with a report that a script is not responding. The options are to stop script or cancel. The error code that I posted is the one that happens most often, but others come up, too. • Frequent Unresponsive script error chrome://global/content/bindings/text.xml:32 w/ Firefox frozen

    Unresponsive Script:

Do you see any connection between pages that generate this error and the use of the Flash plugin? Incompatibility with the Protected Mode feature of the Flash plugin is one possible cause for slow script errors (on pages that use Flash).
The Protected Mode feature has security benefits, but seems to have compatibility issues on some systems. You can disable it by creating or editing a settings file. The following pages/posts provide different approaches for that:
    * Adobe support article under the heading "Last Resort": [http://forums.adobe.com/message/4468493#TemporaryWorkaround Adobe Forums: How do I troubleshoot Flash Player's protected mode for Firefox?]

Flash needs to completely unload from memory (exiting and starting Firefox up again might help) before this takes effect.

    * Don't remove personal data if you uninstall the current version.
    * It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.

While downloading files Firefox 4 freezes (started with 3.5) and sometimes I get a window that says Script: chrome://mozapps/content/downloads/download.xml:68 has stopped responding or is busy and asks if I want to stop script or ignore.
